I gave out a survey to 20 people, 10 males
   and 10 females, to help me clear up any
 confusions with my music magazine. It also
 help me find out which genre was popular
 amongst teenagers aged 16-19, since that
was the only range of ages I gave it to. Also
some of my questions were open and some
     of them were closed, I added open
   questions because I also wanted to get
  some views and opinions, to help me with
            my music magazine.

I gave my questionnaire out to 10 boys
  and 10 girls across the school, making it
random sampling, the reason I gave it out
 equally to the amount of boys and girls is
   because I didn’t want my results to be
   biased and also I wanted to get both
     genders view and responses on the
     questions I was going to ask. I also
    wanted to see if gender affects what
genre music you listen to and other factors
       like buying music magazines.

As you can see a majority of the students
who answered the questionnaire were 16-
      19 year olds. This links to my target
     audience as they are the younger
 generation. I also wanted to see if there
was a correlation between age and what
  type of music you listen to. I didn’t ask
anyone older than 19 because it would be
less likely to fit in with my with my research
as it’s less likely for people 30+ (or younger)
              to listen to pop music.

I gave my questionnaire out to a various
amount of ethnicity to see if that affected
my results. What I realised was, that it didn’t
 affect the results at all, teenagers shared
     the same music taste, this could be
  because they hang around with people
 (different ethnicities) who share the same
                     taste.

Since I’m doing a Pop music Magazine, this
survey helped as a majority of the people I
  gave the survey out to, liked Pop Music.
 Some people crossed over through genre
 as the preferred Pop as well as Hip-Hop or
   maybe R ‘n’ B. This showed me people
  enjoyed more than one genre and their
  taste varied as they enjoyed listening to
                many genres.

agreed to the target audience being 13-
21, which is the younger generation. 20%
   thought it should be older, but when
 doing my research and others had also
found out that pop music has a younger
 target audience oppose to something
  like indie music which can go 30 and
 over. In conclusion, this helped me set
     my target audience for my music

Most people agreed that they liked more
   images than text, this could because
      teenagers are less likely to read
    something if there is a lot of text and
    more likely to look at something with
     more pictures and something that
 attracts their eye. This made me cautious
 about how much text I put in my double
      page spread as I don’t want my
           audience to get bored.
This was an open question, where I got
many responses like competitions, latest
music as well as free music, and free live
 music opportunities. All of these things
     were something that involved the
 audience to get interactive, this gave
me ideas on how to entice my audience
in to buying it by putting something that
  gets the audience interactive on the
    front page of my music magazine.

Most people I gave my questionnaire had
      at least bought a music magazine
    once, while others had never bought
 music magazines. This could be because
   everything they need to know that is in
    the magazine may already be on the
   internet or that good quality magazine
 range from a price about £4-5, which not
  everyone can buy, as it isn’t a necessity
  for teenagers as they also have phones.
This was also an open question allowing
 people to give their views on what they
think music magazines require most. Most
 of them say images and information on
    the artist and giving something the
   reader to look forward too. They also
   said a good layout was required as it
     made everything easier to read.
