This document discusses unedited and edited photos used in a music magazine. The unedited photos have issues like dark shadows, unclear focus, and distracting backgrounds. The document then shows how Photoshop was used to edit the photos by making them brighter, adjusting saturation, and extracting subjects from their backgrounds. This created cleaner, clearer, and more professional photos suitable for the magazine's front cover and content.

1. Un-edited photos – These are the unedited photos a shoe that appears on my front cover of my
music magazine. You can see there is un-necessary detail in the background and their are also
shadows of the shoe, which makes it look un-professional and un-tidy.
This is a very dark
photograph, one of the
darkest of them all. It
has a brighter
background, but the
actual shoe is still very
dark and un clear.
This photo is quite
bright, so creates better
quality photo, however
there is still a shadow of
the shoe which needs to
be cut out.

2. These are a selection on my un edited photos of nail varnish that appears on my magazine cover. These again
require the background to be cut out, as well as the distracting shadows . I believe this photo is the best quality
because of the effective light and the strong focus, however the background certainly lets it down.

3. These are a selection of photo’s of my model’s that I have taken, they have been composed to reflect my
magazine brief and what will best attract my audience. These are fairly good quality photos that have
some strong light.
This is a photo featuring two This photo is slightly darker, but This photos is slightly lighter
people. It has a clear light that is clear. There is only one model and is a clear, medium shot
emphasises the photograph, present which keeps it tidy and photo. There is also direct eye
however I feel the image doesn’t easier to mould. contact which helps to draw in
completely reflect my magazine. the audience, creating an
effective image.

4. Edited photos This is the final edited photo that I used on the front cover of my
magazine. It is quite different from the original photo, for one it is
become lighter , it also has been extracted from the original
background to give it a clear, cleaner photo that would appear to be
more professional on the cover of my music magazine.
The photo has been made lighter using the
photo editing programme ‘Photoshop’. Here I
have added a lighter tone to the photo as well as
adjusting the saturation of the photo. Using
these effects creates a brighter, clearer
photograph that creates a much more effective
feel.
I have extracted the model from the original
background that was on this photo. This was
done by using the magic extractor tool on
Photoshop. This is where you are able to extract
any object or model from it’s background. It is an
easy and effective tool that has been really useful
when editing this photo. I feel that this tool has
created a cleaner, more professional photo.

5. These two photos are both used on my front cover to convey the conventions of
a pop magazine with a similar target audience. This is the focus on other
features, including fashion, hence the reason my front cover features photo’s of
a shoe and some nail varnish. Both of these photos have been edited to create
a more professional photo. They have both been extracted from their
backgrounds, again using the magic extractor tool on Photoshop and have both
been made brighter, so they appear clearer.
