2. Manipulating Photographs - Cover
file:///mnt/temp/Pictures/new/DSCF1749.JPG
On the left is my chosen image for the front cover.
For the main image on the cover of my magazine, I
did not manipulate anything. The reason I did not
manipulate this photograph is based on my image
already having the correct lighting and camera
angles. I did not need to edit anything based on
what my artists are wearing or doing. Although the
artist on the left stands out more so to the artist
on the right. The girl on the left overall has
brighter hair, brighter clothing and is wearing
more make-up. It was an option to edit my other
artist and make her also stand out more but I
decided to leave the artists the way they are on
the picture. Although the artist to the right doesn't
stand out as much I wanted to make this apparent
based on showing contrasts and differences
between both artists. They are not identical so I do
not want to make them both seem the same. My
other images will also allow both artists to equally
stand out or one artist to stand out more than the
other to add variety.
3. Final Image -
This is my final cover image I have used
within my magazine. I made a final
adjustment when I added my image to my
front cover. I simply flipped my image
horizontally. By doing so my image then
fitted more appropriately, including both
artists full body within my cover. Based on
the layout of my magazine cover this was a
change that needed to be made In order for
my magazine to stand out effectively.
4. Manipulating Photographs – Contents Page
file:///mnt/temp/Pictures/new/DSCF1653.JPG
I had to manipulate this image in
several different ways. The background
wallpaper is darker in some areas as
the flowers are unable to be seen, but
there is also areas which are brighter.
In some places the background also
has scratches,marks and white lines
which make the images less
professional. These need to be
removed for my final contents page
image.
Therefore during manipulation I
decided to use a plain black
background and crop my image.
5. Manipulating – Contents image
file:///H:/Elise%20-%20Media%20Work/contents%20picture.jpg
This is the outcome of the image once I
had manipulated it. The change in
background to just a plain black will
enable it to stand out on my pink
background. I used the brush tool in a
variety of different sizes. This enabled
my artists to stand out based on the
clothing they are wearing and hand
gestures.
I have also cropped the image for my
contents page so it focuses more
closer on my artists, and adds a variety
of shot types.
Further manipulation consisted of
removing red eye from the artist to the
left. My image will then be used within
my contents page.
6. Manipulating Photographs – Double Page
Spread
file:///mnt/temp/Pictures/new/DSCF1693.JPG
I decided to use this shot as the
main image for my double page
spread. Although there are several
implications within this image. For
example, the shadow from the
mirror, red eye, change in
shadows/lightening behind the
artists, marks within the
background and the wooden
flooring.
I used photo shop to edit my
chosen image so it became more
presentable for my final double
page spread image.
7. Manipulation – Double Page Spread Image
During the manipulation period I used photo
shop to edit the background. I cropped out
several parts to add more of a focus to my
artists. This makes them stand out more
again. As I had already edited the
background within the contents page I,
decided to also do so for my double page
spread. I used the brush tool in a variety of
sizes to colour the surrounding area of
background I had been left with once I had
used the crop tool.
I then used the red eye removal tool, as the
artist to the left seemed to have red eye.
Finally I then edited the contrast and
brightness to add more colour to my artists
and made them both equally stand out.
Overall I then ended up with this image. This
is then the image I used for my double page
spread.
8. Manipulation – Double Page Spread Image
During manipulation of this image I
decided to edit the colours. I
changed the brightness of the reds
to make the red less bright and then
add more blue to the picture. I also
edited the vibrance,contrast and
brightness. The effect of doing this
enables both my artists to stand out
equally. Within some of my previous
pictures one artist always stood out
more than the other. Therefore
adding this image onto my double
page spread will enable my other
artist to stand out more, adding
more focus.
9. Manipulation – Double Page Spread Image
I edited this image and added a black
and white layer. I then edited the
brightness and contrast. I decided to
do this to add a variety of different
coloured images to my double page
spread and make it more appealing to
the readers. All my images will then
stand out clearly within my magazine
and it shows I have not chose one
standard colour for my images.
10. Manipulation – Double Page Spread Image
I decided to use this picture once I
had edited it based on the depth
that had been added to the image.
The simple effect of the artists
making a triangle sign and then
editing the brightness, contrast and
vibrance, created more shadows to
the image. The triangles then stand
out and some areas of the picture
look darker than others. An effect of
arrangement has been added to my
image. Due to the triangles being
the first thing on the page, based on
the spacing, it then attracts
attention to my artists. This also
helps my artists to stand out more
and show the variety of colours in
my image.
