Using a Canon HD camera enabled filming in good quality with basic features like zooming and playback. A tripod was essential for steady shots and a professional look. Blogger was used to chronologically record production progress. iMovie allowed non-linear editing and previewing of sequences to check quality. YouTube was used to upload cuts and embed videos on the blogger. Adobe After Effects was difficult to learn but enabled creating titles resembling 'The Matrix' through tutorials.

2. Camera
• The camera we used to film our opening sequence was a
Canon HD. Using this camera enabled us to film in good
quality and use basic features like zooming in and out, pull
focus and playback the footage we have filmed to see how we
have filmed it and whether it needs to be re-filmed. The
camera was set on automatic which made it much easier as
we did not have to worry about pulling it in focus all the time
and setting the brightness. Also, the camera was lightweight
which made it easier to carry around the school.

3. Tripod
• We learnt that the tripod is an essential tool needed
for the whole production. Without it the quality of
the footage will decrease due to it being a handheld
camera. The tripod made sure the shots were
straight which made it look professional. Our
opening sequence had to look professional as it was
a mainstream film rather than an independent.

4. Blogger
• Blogger is the website we used to regularly
record the progress we made during the
production. It was chronological, therefore
making it efficient to find certain posts.

5. iMovie
• iMovie is a non-linear editing software which enables
you to edit out of sequence. It makes it easier to edit
as everything does not need to be finished to start
editing, which saves time. In addition, it allowed us
to play around with the music to suit our opening
sequence. It lets you playback the sequence you
have edited so far to inform you on how it looks and
whether you need to film it again.

6. YouTube
• We used YouTube to upload our preliminary,
rough cut and final cut. We also used it to
embed codes of videos which were
appropriate to what we were doing on
blogger. It was also a way to view other thriller
opening sequences to get ideas from.

7. Adobe After Effects
• This software was used to create our titles.
Due to the narrative involving the internet we
wanted some text similar to the one involved
in ‘The Matrix. We found it very difficult to
grasp hold of the concept of how to do this.
However, we managed to understand how it
worked through tutorials.
