From producing this project, the student learned about various video and audio equipment, including a Canon camcorder, tripod, dolly, Bose microphones and boom pole. They also gained experience using editing software Final Cut Pro, though found it more complex than their usual software Sony Vegas. Overall, the project exposed the student to new technologies and they now have a better understanding of the equipment needed to produce video content.

from the process of constructing this
product?

2. Equipment
● During the production process we used several different pieces of
equipment to create and manufacture our final product. This
includes what we used to shoot the film with, what we recorded the
sound with & even post-production with editing software's.

3. Camera's
● We used a Canon Camcorder to record our product. This was a good
experience for me as I have past experience with DSLR Camera's but not
Camcorders, so I now have experience on a vaster field of recording
equipment.
Good things about the Canon Camcorder were that it was high quality and
mobile, easy to hold unlike the DSLR's I am used to but bad things were
that it had short battery life and you couldn't add a lens on to it.
During the production process we only had one camera so we had to
shoot things multiple times from different angles to get what I had
imagined as our final product. I found this arduous as we would have to
ensure everything was exactly the same as it was in the last shot before
taking the next one.

4. Other Camera-Equipment
● We also had to use tripods with our camera. I am already accustom
to the tripod and how it works so on shoot day I wasn't faced with
anything challenging here. The tripod is useful because it allowed
me to collect a selection of smooth and slick shots for the product
unlike if I were to do it by hand where the chance of jolts or sudden
movements in the camera would affect the product.
We also used a Dolly. This was my first time using a Dolly and I
found it difficult because you could see some of the bumps coming
from the naturally bumpy floor when the dolly rode along it. I prefer
a Fig Rig, which next time I hope I can get my hands on before
shoot day.

5. Microphone/Sound Equipment
● We used Bose Microphones & Boom Poles to record the sound on
shoot day. This was yet again another experience for me as I was
used to using built-in sound with DSLR camera's.
I found the microphone useful because it allows for a whole new
array of shots at your disposal without worrying about how you will
record the sound if you're too far away. It also has higher recording
quality than the built-in microphones and picks up more sound as
the microphone is circular.
Next time I create a media product a microphone and boom pole
will definitely be something I would like to have on set.

6. Editing Software
● To edit our product we used Final Cut Pro. This is a software I am
not entirely used to but I grew accustom to it throughout the edit
with tutorials online to assist me as I usually edit in Sony Vegas,
although as part of the course we must use Final Cut. I found Final
Cut to be much more complex than Sony Vegas in that trying to use
what could be seen as more complex techniques like masking &
color correction are made more difficult to use by Final Cuts
interface in comparison. Good points about Final Cut however are
that it allows you to save the file in a format easy to post on to
YouTube which Vegas Pro doesn't offer and was very useful after
the edit was complete.
That said, next time I create a media product I would prefer to use
what I am comfortable with, Sony Vegas.
