1. WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED ABOUT
TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE PROCESS OF
CONSTRUCTING THIS PRODUCT?
2. HARDWARE
Camera
When filming our opening sequence, we used a Canon 550D DSLR
(digital single lens reflex). We made sure that we were filming in HD
(high definition) instead of standard definition. It was also important that
the camera was set to 720p. We would have encountered problems if
we used anything larger, as there would have been not enough space
on the college network. The footage was filmed in 30 frames a second
so that the sequence flowed well with out jumping.
3. HARDWARE
Tripod
To be sure that any particular shots were caught properly, we
used a tripod to steady the camera. The tripod was used for
most of the shots. When filming outside we used the tripod as
we could place it onto the uneven ground. When adjusting
positions or experimenting with angles, the fully adjustable legs
were used. The tripod was also good for close ups as we could
get as close as possible to our subject with out having any
shake.
4. SOFTWARE
Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5
I used this programme to edit and manipulate our sequence. We
were able to import all of the footage that we had captured onto
the programme, and sift through it to decide what parts we didn’t
want. It was easy to be able to cut pieces of footage by looking
through them second at a time. By doing this we were able to
make a clean cut to specific shots. Any audio that we had used
was also imported into the programme. Certain options allowed
us to fade parts of the audio, and unlink parts that were
irrelevant and unnecessary. After being happy with our sequence
we could use this to render it and then export it to our files.
5. SOFTWARE
Adobe After Effects
This was an important factor when adding titles to our sequence.
The programme enabled us to be able to add titles to certain
parts of our sequence. Different effects could be selected for
different titles. Adobe After Effects was also linked to Adobe
Premiere Pro CS5.5. When any new effects were added, they
would show up on our sequence so that we could do any further
adjustments. Using this programme made it simple for us to be
able to add any new footage that we had captured.
6. SOFTWARE
Microsoft Paint
Even though I have used this programme many times before, it
came into good use when making our opening sequence. I
copied any screenshots that I had captured into Microsoft Paint.
I then cropped down the image until I was happy and then saved
the new image as a jpeg. This meant that when I was writing
new posts on how I did something, I could upload a screenshot
with it.
7. SOFTWARE
Tumblr
This blogging site was used for us to upload any new information
and research that was relevant towards our task. It is easy to
use and also easy for us to view each others blogs for any parts
that we had missed. The site also enabled us to be able to
upload different types of media. It was easy for us to be able to
upload any YouTube videos that we wanted to analyse and
discuss.
