This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

Technology : What have you learnt about technologies from the
process of constructing this product?
2. Hardware
Hardware is any type of physical technology that you have
used. Hardware is all the physical components that I used to
make my music magazine. There are many hardware's that I
used for this work.

3. Apple I Mac
I have never used I Mac
computers before it was a bit
difficult to use these
computers as it is very
different than the normal
windows computers. It has
different software’s than any
other computers. These
computers are not that hard
to learn they are a really
good technology for media
products.
4. Keyboard and mouse
The keyboard is really different than
normal keyboards. Through the I mac
keyboards you screenshot anything on
the screen by using command + shift +
4; while to copy text you use command
+ C and to past is command + V.
The mouse is also a different mouse
than normal Microsoft mouse; there is
no right click button on the mouse; if
right click is needed you use the ctrl
and than click the mouse that’s when
you get the right click options. The
mouse also has other characteristics as
you can drag anything you want
anywhere. For example; if you need a
picture from the internet you do not
have to copy it you just drag it to the
desktop and then drag it to where you
going to use the picture.
5. SD card reader/ backdrop
I used a SD card reader to
transfer all my images from my
camera to my computer. This
shows that this device will help
me further to save my work
from the computer.
Backdrop is the background
that is used in the studio for the
photo shoot. This background is
really useful as it creates a plain
background. Then strobe lights
are lighted on the backdrop to
create a bright crisp
background for the image. You
can also use the backdrop
without the strobe light too.
6. Camera
For my work I used a digital DSLR
camera - Nikon D3100. the camera I
used was more professional than the
ones I have used before. Through
this camera the images I took were
really in focus and clear and crisp.
The use of the studio in school was
really better than doing a photo-
shoot at home. This camera helped
me to crop my image in a easy way
as the background of my images
was white. This shows that taking
images on a plain background
makes your object/ model stand
out. It also makes it look interesting
because there are different shades
and lighting in the images.
7. Strobe lights/ soft box
Strobe lights are flash lights
used in the studio instead of a
flash light on the camera. I
used these lights to make my
model look more in focus than
the background. These lights
works as natural light so that
there is a good focus on the
model.
Soft box is used on the strobe
light that has soften the light so
you get a natural effect on the
picture you take. Also you can
move these lights wherever you
want so you get the flash and
lighting as needed

Software is all the technologies that are included in the
hardware such as the computers.

9. Photoshop
I used Photoshop for my work
because it has many different
elements that can use to
create my media product
Photoshop helps me to create
different graphics so I can
show different styles and theme
for my media product. It also
helps you create, change and
edit an image that can be
used in different pages of my
media product. It shows have
we can create layers to make
an image look more
interesting.
10. InDesign
InDesign is software that I
used to create my media
product. This is a very
similar software to
Photoshop I used this
software to make sure that
my text, my images and
graphics looks better as
Photoshop uses layers it
can sometimes get delete
which can also mean that
the main element can get
deleted which can ruin my
media product.
11. Safari
Safari helps me with all the research that I needed to do for
to produce my media product. Safari help me to find
different information that I needed to create my media
product through the web. Safari helps me to post all the
research and work I have done on my for my media
product. This helps search all kind of information and also
help me post all the planning and the media product i have
produced.
12. Wordpress/ blog
Wordpress is the blogging website that helps me post all
the work and planning I have done for my media
product. This is a software helps me to show all the work
that I have done on my media product. This software
allows people to see my planning and my media
product through my blog. This helps me present all the
work i have done on my media product.
