HOW DID YOU
ATTRACT/ADDRESS YOUR
AUDIENCE?
BBFC RATING
• In my media product, there is no inappropriate language or graphic
or sexual scenes that wouldn’t be appropriate for an audience of our
target age of 15 years old. Due to the fact that our full finished
product has a BBFC rating of 12A, there is no offensive language or
inappropriate imagery throughout the opening scene, which could
create a reputation the intended target audience would want to see.
The location of our scenes will attract our target audience as its set in
a mysterious and sinister location, which helps create uncertainty to
the audience because they wouldn’t normally spend after school or
on a weekend, therefore the location connotes a sense of
unfamiliarity within the audience.
SOUND
• The non-diegetic background music that we used in our opening sequence
will help attract our audience. This is because by including this, it helps
create intensity to the audience that something dramatic is going to happen.
Therefore, the audience will watch throughout the film, which suggests that
the audience are attracted. Also in the opening sequence the non-diegetic
sound varies from loud to quiet. As a group we decreased the sound of the
background music when the characters were speaking to each other,
therefore the audience will be able to hear the characters clearly, which
means that they’ll keep in track with the storyline. But when the chase scene
happened we increased the background music massively, therefore this
implies to the audience that somethings going to happen and this will help
attract audiences to watch more of my media product.
USE OF CHARACTERS
• By including a hostage, it makes the scene tense and dramatic to see
if Joel Beckford escaped from the two bodyguards successfully. This
creates questions for the audience for why he is there in this
situation and where he is located. By doing this it helps engage
audiences massively as they want to find out. The chase scene
creates excitement to the audience as anything can happen and if the
hero escapes. Therefore, this engages our audience to my media
product. My media product was left on a cliff hanger as Joel Beckford
manages to escape from the bodyguard and hideaway in the lift.
Therefore, this leaves the audience asking questions whether or not
Joel was able to escape.
KEY CONVENTIONS
• Furthermore, the costume used for our main villain is wearing a
formal suit, therefore this will help attract our younger
audiences who are aged 15-20 years old because in a normal
spy genre film, you would expect characters to wear a suit, as
it’s a convention of the spy genre, which means that audiences
will be attracted to what costume the characters are wearing.

  • 2. BBFC RATING • In my media product, there is no inappropriate language or graphic or sexual scenes that wouldn’t be appropriate for an audience of our target age of 15 years old. Due to the fact that our full finished product has a BBFC rating of 12A, there is no offensive language or inappropriate imagery throughout the opening scene, which could create a reputation the intended target audience would want to see. The location of our scenes will attract our target audience as its set in a mysterious and sinister location, which helps create uncertainty to the audience because they wouldn’t normally spend after school or on a weekend, therefore the location connotes a sense of unfamiliarity within the audience.
  • 3. SOUND • The non-diegetic background music that we used in our opening sequence will help attract our audience. This is because by including this, it helps create intensity to the audience that something dramatic is going to happen. Therefore, the audience will watch throughout the film, which suggests that the audience are attracted. Also in the opening sequence the non-diegetic sound varies from loud to quiet. As a group we decreased the sound of the background music when the characters were speaking to each other, therefore the audience will be able to hear the characters clearly, which means that they’ll keep in track with the storyline. But when the chase scene happened we increased the background music massively, therefore this implies to the audience that somethings going to happen and this will help attract audiences to watch more of my media product.
  • 4. USE OF CHARACTERS • By including a hostage, it makes the scene tense and dramatic to see if Joel Beckford escaped from the two bodyguards successfully. This creates questions for the audience for why he is there in this situation and where he is located. By doing this it helps engage audiences massively as they want to find out. The chase scene creates excitement to the audience as anything can happen and if the hero escapes. Therefore, this engages our audience to my media product. My media product was left on a cliff hanger as Joel Beckford manages to escape from the bodyguard and hideaway in the lift. Therefore, this leaves the audience asking questions whether or not Joel was able to escape.
  • 5. KEY CONVENTIONS • Furthermore, the costume used for our main villain is wearing a formal suit, therefore this will help attract our younger audiences who are aged 15-20 years old because in a normal spy genre film, you would expect characters to wear a suit, as it’s a convention of the spy genre, which means that audiences will be attracted to what costume the characters are wearing.
