This document discusses which media institution would be best to distribute a proposed rap magazine. The author indicates that Bauer Media would be a better fit than Times Inc. because Bauer already produces niche music magazines in similar genres like rap, while Times Inc. has a broader focus. Bauer seems to specialize more in music magazines overall. After thorough research, the author was unable to find another publisher that represents rap music as well as Bauer. While Times Inc. has international reach and produces magazines featuring rap, Bauer could better target and appeal to the intended rap magazine audience.

2. • Because I am creating a Rap magazine, I will have a niche audience and so
it may be more beneficial to find a magazine distributer that caters for
similar genres or even Rap music specifically. From the information I
researched for Task 4 I can already tell that Bauer would be a better
publisher over Times Inc. as they already have a wide range of different
genres that they have produced music magazines with a niche audience
such as Kerrang or Downtown Country. As well as this, Bauer seem to
produce more music themed magazines than The Times does as Times Inc
produces lots of household and hobby magazines as well as some music
magazines.
• After doing a lot of my own research I have been unable to find another
magazine producer that I feel would be able to represent my magazine
and genre properly as non that I have found produce anything similar
enough for me to feel confident with choosing another publisher.
• Even though Times Inc has produced successful magazines such as NME that has
featured Rap music articles as well as having an international audience reach, i
believe that Bauer would be able to create a better audience appeal for my
magazine and be able to target my audience through the typical stereotypes that
come with my genre.
