1. 3. What kind of media
institution might distribute
your product and why?
2. After researching into different media
institutions and their brands I decided on
the use of ‘Bauer Media’ for my music
magazine, this is because it is one of the
most well-known media institutions.
3.
4. It also already distributes music magazines
such as ‘Mojo’ ‘Q’ and ‘Kerrang’ which have
similar target audiences to the target
audience for my music magazine.
Particularly the figures for Q magazine
shows that the majority of its readers are
aged 15-25 which is similar to my target
audience.
5.
6. However Bauer doesn’t distribute a music
magazine with the specific Indie/Alternative
music genre that my music magazine
follows. However it does distribute Kerrang
which is mainly a rock music magazine, so
having another magazine that follows a
different genre may work well next to each
other in sales and support each other. This
could be good for the sales of both
magazines if distributed next to each other
as well as appealing to a wider audience
between them and consequently making
more money by working next to each other.
7.
8. The experience that Bauer has in the selling
of music magazines makes it good for the
distribution of a new magazine and being
beneficial to its success based on the
success of its other music magazines that it
distributes. As my music magazine follows
the genre of Indie/Alternative music it could
mean that my magazine would be able to
help Bauer reach a newer and wider
audience.
