Future plc focuses on niche magazines targeted at small audiences in topics like music and guitars. 2. IPC media
Ipc media is the uk’s leading consumer magazine publisher.
Established in 1968, they engage with 26m uk adults – almost
42% of uk men and two thirds of uk women. Their awards
wining portfolio of websites reaches over 25 million users
globally every month.
Some of the types of well known magazines IPC media
produce are:
NME, now, what's on TV, Marie Claire & women own I would
say that IPC media produces Uk mainstream magazines as
they are the uks leading consumer.
3. Emap
Emap owns leading brands in the magazine industry. Established in
1947, their magazine includes genres such as
retail, health, construction, architecture and fashion. Brands at
emap include smash hits (1978-2006), retail week, h&v
news, nursing times.net & construction news. Because emaps
brands focus on specific industries I would say that emap are not a
very well-known magazine industry this would mean they are
considered to be a niche magazine.
4. Bauer.
Bauer is a privately owned publishing magazine which joined the
Bauer media group in January 208. the group employs over 6,400
people and is a multi-platform company focusing Mainly on magazine
and radio.
Bauer's most popular media brands are kiss 100 & for him magazine
(fhm) which was purchased in 1994 and is now a best selling
international multi platform.
Other popular magazines in the media group are:
- Empire
- Practical photography
- Grazia
- Heat
Most of Bauer's media brands are very popular and there is a wide
range of magazine genres they have, from fishing , gold and fashion to
trains. Bauer covers a big enough variety to make them mainstream
magazine institution.
5. Future plc.
Future plc. is an international media company founded in
1985. they ship worldwide with operations in the UK, US
and Australia.
They use different types of magazines future produces are:
- Classic rock
- Guitar techniques
- Guitarist
- Metal hammer
I would say that future plc. magazines are niche as they are
not very well known. And are specifically targeted at
certain audiences that are quite small rather than a wider
audience.
6. Who will own my magazine????
Ipc media will be the owner of my magazine
because I feel that they are the biggest and best
company to have behind me supporting me and
helping with the future of my magazine, they are a
good company with lots of daily viewers and a wide
range of audience.
Also another reason I want to be on the media ipc
company is because they have big magazine names
under there belt such as nme and I want to attract
the sane audience as them.
