magazines ; More, Closer, Heat, Zoo FHM and match magazine. They are predominantly
mainstream in the industry with the main gossip mag’s coming from them and Match
of the day magazine football mag and FHM main competitors in the ‘Lad Mags industry’
they aslo own kerrange magazine which is a strong brand in its self and has many
synergies and is internationaly recognised

3. IPC Media PLC
IPC Media where founded in the UK in 1958. and is now owned by Time an american
puplishing company. IPC MEDIA is focused on UK distributed but because it creates
content for many different plat forms for mobile phones websites has international
distribution to MEDCs. Connecting with 66% of women and %40 of men in the UK and
have over 25 million global users every month. They own magazines such as IPC Media
producer magazines in sports , lifestyle, TV, sports. producing major well known titles
such LOOK,NME. Woman’s Weekly, what’s on TV, Ideal Home, Nuts, TV easy. And
Marie Claire. NME magazine is renowed music magazine in the uk .They are very
much mainstream magazine producing Britain's main magazine titles.
4. Future PLC
Future Plc. was founded in 1985 by Chris Anderson. The media company today publishes 150
magazines,. Varying from technology, cars, videogames to films. Also they are the official magazine
company of the three major games console manufactures (Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo), and also owns
the US company, Future US. Future PLC have operations in the UK US and Australia they distributor 89
countries making it the UKs number one exporter and licensor of magazine content. Future PLC produce
magazines technology, cars, videogames to films some titles are Tech Radar , T3, Total Film, Bike
Radar, Music Radar, Classic Rock, Games Radar, Digital Camera, Mollie Makes and Official Xbox
Magazine.
They are more niche as they are very genre specific to areas of the magazine industry
5. Emap
• Emap is a British media company founded in 1947. and is
focused on business to business such as nursing retail and
media. Emap ( East Midland Allied Press own Smash hits
magazine which is focused on a young audience it also own
retail week nursing times construction news. The company
is very niche and genre specife.
6. • Out of the publishing companies I have research I would choose IPC
Media because they are one of the leading uk production
companies and have a great portfolio of magazine including NME
magazine which is internationally is leading in the music magazine
industry, with synergies such as tv radio websites and radio but I
would like to keep it privately owned so I could make it my own and
have complete control as like RWD magazine which is the similar
genre to my magazine is. The companies would not bring much to
the table as my magazine is a niche but a growing market so in the
future possibly consider a deal so I could make it an international
rather than UK based and UK based music hasn’t become as
popular as the American hip hop and rap scene. But I would aspire
to be like the UK version of Vibe or XXL magazine. The audience is
very specific and if it became more mainstream to early it would
dilute the content with pop music and by doing that it would loose
its identity.
