Question 2
1. How does your media product
represent particular social groups?
2. • I have used young and
fashionable people inside
my magazine in order to
create a youth orientated
magazine that will attract
the appropriate audience. By
using models that are
dressed in a contemporary,
stylish fashion and are
wearing current styles of
makeup and hair, young
people will find the models
and content relatable and
therefore appealing.
3. • My photography reinforces this idea by using
close up shots that use direct mode of address in
order to help the reader create a bond with the
artist. I have also used fashionable props in order
to do this, as by using popular styles of clothing I
am fitting in my genre of mainstream chart
music, as people who follow music trends are
likely to do the same with fashion.
4. • This is giving a positive and
stereotypical representation of
youth today as it is showing the
pop artists in a happy and
optimistic manner. This upbeat
and youthful representation is
stereotypical as it fits with the
genre of lighthearted and fun
pop culture which is appealing
to people who are interested in
this genre and follow more
mainstream trends. Both males
and females are also
represented in this positive
manner through the magazine
as both sexes are represented
through the media product.
