2. How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My magazine represents people between the ages of 15-19, this is reflected by the model used in my magazine as
they are of a similar age to my target audience. I believe the younger age group can be represented in the media
negatively so by showing talent within my magazine portrayed them in a positive way. This is because he is looking at
the camera and smiling which showing positive.
The image used is of a black person which portrays my magazine is aimed at any ethnic group. I have used a range of
different ethnicities within my magazine as the mainstream genre reflects many different ethnicities.

My magazine is clear for who it is aimed at as the image on the cover isn't of a
stereotype, for example the image isn't of a rocker, emo or chav, its aimed at
anyone. I done this so anyone could pick up my magazine without thinking its of a
                                                 particular stereotype.

Over all I think my image represents a young teenage age group who like to keep up on celeb gossip as well as
being interested within music of the mainstream pop genre. When creating my magazine I ensured I related
back to my target audience as within my focus group before creating my magazine they said ‘The image of the
main artist should represent music as well as them as individual, and also range from male to female each
issue to show it’s targeted at both sexes.‘ I did this so that my music magazine will appeal to them.
