Quackery
 Quackery is the promotion of fraudulent or
ignorant medical practices by unskillful
doctors or by people who pretend to be
doctors.
 Quackery, in the broadest terms, is “anything
involving over promotion in the field of
health.”
Quackery
 Quackery is often linked to health fraud where
there is “the promotion, for profit, of a medical
remedy known to be false or unproven.”
Quacks
 A quack is “a pretender to medical skill; a
charlatan”
and “one who talks pretentiously without
sound knowledge of the subject discussed.”
How can you spot Quack?
 Quacks often award themselves impressive
qualifications.
 They are non-specific.
 Use of out-of-context language, e.g. energy,
frequencies, vibrations etc from other
disciplines.
How can you spot Quack?
 Claims to be standing up for ordinary people
against the conspiracy of big
pharmaceuticals, doctors and multinational
evils.
 He may offer a special or secret formula to
cure a disease.

 As in herbal remedies and dietary
supplements etc.

 Device Quackery pertains to the claims or
information about the products that are ‘too
good to be true.’
Harmful aspects of Quackery
 It puts the life of public in danger.
 It leads to conflicts between consumer and
seller.
 It causes anxiety in the public due to it’s
uncertainty of effectiveness.
Harmful aspects of Quackery
 People who have existing illness may become
worse.
 Body parts deformities may arise.
 It creates regret in the public for the unwise
use of their resources.
Conclusion
 Hence, Quackery not only harm people
physically or financially rather it creates
psychological problems in the public as well.
