The document describes the group's use of media technologies during the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages of their music video project. They conducted online research using Google, YouTube, Spotify and other sites. Auditions were recorded on a Panasonic camera and edited in Premiere Pro. The final video was shot on a Nikon DSLR, edited in Premiere Pro and After Effects, and uploaded to YouTube. Ancillary materials like a digipak and poster were created in Photoshop. Evaluations involved Prezi, video interviews, and online surveys distributed via email.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Q4 final
1. HOW DID YOU USE
MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES
IN THE CONSTRUCTION
AND RESEARCH,
PLANNING AND
EVALUATION STAGES?
QUESTION 4:
1
2. RESEARCH + PLANNING
In order to gain ideas on what we wanted our music video to be about, we
needed to conduct some research into types of music videos and songs we
think we would like to use.
2
We used Google to find out about the three different types of music videos
that we could used then used YouTub to find examples of these videos in
different music genres to see which we would prefer to create.
Once we knew that we wanted to use an indie genre of music, we used an
Indie playlist on Spotify to help us to choose a song that we all like that
would fit well with our ideas- this is where we found Sheila by Jamie T.
We also used YouTub to help us with the idea of our video as we found a
video that was made by a YouTuber to the song “Harder better faster
stronger” by Daft punk which aided us in the looks for our Robot idea
In order to look at our audience, we used YouGov to gain Demographics and
Psychographics. We also created a survey using which
was sent to students via the college email
To research the classification of music videos, we used BBFv which is the
British Board of Film Classification.
3. RESEARCH + PLANNING
For our original idea,
we needed to do
auditions of people
lip syncing for our
video. We advertised
this on Social media
platforms such as
Snapchat and
Facebook
3
We also put up posters around college
and sent a poster out to students via
the college email server.
4. RESEARCH + PLANNING
4
We recorded our auditions on a Panasonic AG-HMC41E
and edited them on Adobe Premiere Pro CS6
This helped us to learn basic skills on how to use
Premiere in preparation for the construction of our final
product. This also helped us to learn how to synchronise
the lip syncing with the music that we downloaded using a
YouTube to MP3 converter.
We also held regular production meeting and we filmed one of the early ones
using a Panasonic video camera and used Premiere to edit it for it to be
uploaded onto YouTub where all of our clips for the coursework are held.
5. RESEARCH + PLANNING
We also tested the Nikon DSLR D3100 to compare the quality of
the cameras and see which we would like to use for our music
video and found that it was much better than the Panasonic AG-
HMC41E we used for the auditions.
We also used the shoulder rig to see if this would be
appropriate.
You can see the test clip we used here:
5
6. RESEARCH + PLANNING
We also had to conduct research into what costumes we wanted
to use in our video.
Before our idea changed, we researched what we wanted the
band to dress in using Google Images.
We also looked at robot costumes on Google Images to gain
ideas and then drew out our original idea for the robot costume
and photographed it using an iPhone so we could upload it onto
the wx blog.
6
When creating our costumes, we filmed it on the Panasonic AG-HMC41E
and then uploaded it to Premiere where it was sped up and transitions and
music were added.
For the digipak, we also conducted some album art research using
Google.
We researched different posters using Google and also Yahoo Answe
7. CONSTRUCTION
When creating our main product, we used an SD memory card
in the Nikon DSLR D3100 which we used with a tripod.
We then used an SD card reader to upload the clips
from the card onto the computer.
These clips were then sorted through to remove any unwanted
ones and then the rest were imported into our project in Adobe
Premiere Pro CS6.
Here, we had already imported the audio for our music video
which I converted into an MP3 from YouTub.
We then cut and edited the audio and the clips we recorded and
added effects and transitions to keep with the face that it was a
concept music video.
7
8. CONSTRUCTION
We took some clips of the sky and imported it into Adobe After Effects CS6
where we added some after effects to make it look like there were large
planets.
I watched a YouTub video to learn how to do this and
I got the copyright free images from pixabay. .
These clips were then uploaded into the Premiere project and used in the
final product.
8
We also wanted to do a POV shot through the robots eyes so we filmed
using a POV camera angle and then edited the footage on After Effects to
make it seem as if the camera was looking through the robots eyes. Again,
we learnt how to do this from a YouTub video tutorial.
Once all of the clips were in suitable order on the project and we were
happy with the look of our product, we exported it and then imported it
to After Effects where different filters were added. We then exported this
and uploaded it to our YouTub channel.
9. CONSTRUCTION
We took several images when we were out filming using the Nikon DSLR
D3100. We then used the SD card to upload these to the computer along
with the video clips. We deleted the photos that we didn’t like and decided
what we thought should be on the digipak and the poster.
For both, the background was made first in the correct sizes for a poster
and a digipak using Adobe Photoshop CS6.
The backgrounds were made the same to show a clear
theme. Then the images were uploaded to each- the same
image was uploaded to both the digipak and the poster to
reinforce the theme. However, the digipak contains two images.
For the digipak, Google was used to find lyrics, quotes and song ideas to
be put onto the album.
For the poster, YouTube tutorials were used to aid the production. We also
recorded the construction using Screencast-O-matic which we found using
Google and downloaded onto the computer. These were then uploaded
onto the vvvv and YouTu .
Finally, when both were complete and we were happy with the result, we
exported the images and uploaded them onto the

10. EVALUATION
For Question 1, “In what ways does your media product use, develop or
challenge forms and conventions of real media products?”, Prezi was
used to make a creative presentation to be uploaded onto the blog.
The internet including. Google and Youtub, was also used.
For Question 2, “How effective is the combination of your main product
an ancillary texts?”, we recorded a video of printed text and screenshots
of the video, using the Panasonic AG-HMC41E and a tripod, with
Georgia narrating. This was then put onto the computer using an SD
card reader and uploaded onto YouTub and the blog. A Slideshare
was also made to accompany this.

EVALUATION
For Question 3, “What have you learnt from your audience feedback?”,
a powerpoint presentation was made which was uploaded to
Slideshare . Screenshots were also used. The Panasonic AG-HMC41E
was used to film people reacting to our videos and Premiere was used
to edit this. was also used again to make a
questionnaire and it was distributed via the college email.
For Question 4, “How did you use media technologies in the
construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?”, a
presentation was made on Microsoft PowerPoint.
Images were added from Googl Images and
images taken on our ipho . Also, videos were
added from youtub . This was then uploaded to
Slideshare and the blog.
