Q3. What kind of media
institution might distribute
your media product and why
IPC Media
I chose IPC Media because I think it is a unique and interesting organisation. It does
not publish an alternative/ indie pop magazine apart from NME (the style and layout
is much different & NME is more rock). I think that IPC will be a very good company
to use as it is very well known and has published very successful magazines. I want
my magazine to be sold in WHSmiths as this is a premium shop that will definitely
increase sales. IPC will benefit financially from my magazine too as the price will help
the ratings and sales will gradually increase. I believe my magazine will bring IPC
good publicity as it is one of the cheapest music magazines on the market. It is good
quality and also a good read. I would love subscriptions from readers as I believe that
is a brilliant way of increasing sales and reader numbers. More people will see the
price and the look of the magazine and decide to buy it. I would not be able to do it
without IPC, making it the perfect publishing company. I would love to make a
website for my magazine to help promote it and give the readers the opportunity to
see past magazines. It is essential that I make a Facebook/Twitter/Instagram for my
magazine as that also brings publicity. I like the idea of promoting my magazines in
public and also promoting them in the obvious places that my target audience
would go. E.g. pubs, club and gigs.
I would also like my magazine to be sold on the APP Store for Apple. I think that this
is a fantastic idea as this will increase sales. Apple is large company and many people
own iPhones; meaning that they can download a monthly subscription to IPM for
cheap. My readers will download the app, then pay for each magazine. This is a
unique way of advertising and also a new way of reading. I want my magazine
advertised on all the social networking sites and have advertised this on my
magazine. I think this is a good idea as lots of young people go on Twitter and
Facebook and are able to connect with the magazine. An individual Twitter page
will be dedicated to this magazine to allow readers to ask questions. They can
subscribe through Twitter. I don’t want my magazine to be sold in newsagents as I
think it is better than that and should be purchased in the large book stores.

  • 2. IPC Media I chose IPC Media because I think it is a unique and interesting organisation. It does not publish an alternative/ indie pop magazine apart from NME (the style and layout is much different & NME is more rock). I think that IPC will be a very good company to use as it is very well known and has published very successful magazines. I want my magazine to be sold in WHSmiths as this is a premium shop that will definitely increase sales. IPC will benefit financially from my magazine too as the price will help the ratings and sales will gradually increase. I believe my magazine will bring IPC good publicity as it is one of the cheapest music magazines on the market. It is good quality and also a good read. I would love subscriptions from readers as I believe that is a brilliant way of increasing sales and reader numbers. More people will see the price and the look of the magazine and decide to buy it. I would not be able to do it without IPC, making it the perfect publishing company. I would love to make a website for my magazine to help promote it and give the readers the opportunity to see past magazines. It is essential that I make a Facebook/Twitter/Instagram for my magazine as that also brings publicity. I like the idea of promoting my magazines in public and also promoting them in the obvious places that my target audience would go. E.g. pubs, club and gigs.
  • 3. I would also like my magazine to be sold on the APP Store for Apple. I think that this is a fantastic idea as this will increase sales. Apple is large company and many people own iPhones; meaning that they can download a monthly subscription to IPM for cheap. My readers will download the app, then pay for each magazine. This is a unique way of advertising and also a new way of reading. I want my magazine advertised on all the social networking sites and have advertised this on my magazine. I think this is a good idea as lots of young people go on Twitter and Facebook and are able to connect with the magazine. An individual Twitter page will be dedicated to this magazine to allow readers to ask questions. They can subscribe through Twitter. I don’t want my magazine to be sold in newsagents as I think it is better than that and should be purchased in the large book stores.
