Proteins are essential biomolecules that are composed of amino acids. They perform many critical functions in the body, including fighting disease, building tissues, and facilitating chemical reactions. Protein synthesis involves two main steps - transcription and translation. In transcription, DNA in the nucleus is copied into mRNA. The mRNA then leaves the nucleus and attaches to ribosomes in the cytoplasm. In translation, tRNA brings amino acids to the ribosome according to the mRNA codons. The amino acids are linked together to form a protein chain.
