The document summarizes the differences between the creator's preliminary and actual tasks in creating a music magazine. For the actual task, more care and planning went into the flat plan, double-page spread, photography choices, consideration of fonts and colors, and use of Photoshop. Surveys were also conducted. More creative thought and research went into planning the contents page. Overall, the greatest development was shown in the double-page spread since there was no preliminary task to reference.

Between 0-30secs: In my preliminary task I did very basic layouts and
ideas for my front cover, whereas in my actual task I produced a very
detailed and thought out plan for my final product in comparison to my
preliminary task. For my music magazine I took a lot more care because my
flat plan had a lot more planning and consideration so I knew what I wanted
to do and how I roughly expected the final outcome to look.
Between 30secs to 1min 6secs: For my double page spread my flat plan was
very important for this task as I needed it to be detailed as I did not do
a plan for my double page spread in my preliminary task. Therefore I needed
this plan so that I did not lose track of my outcome or what I wanted the
end result to look like and it served as framework for me to build on. The
detail in it gave a clear plan for me to follow so that I did not end up
wasting time figuring out what to do next. As a result I produced a piece
of work quickly that was similar to my original plan for what to include to
appeal to my target audience and that I was satisfied with.
Between 1min 6secs to 1min 16secs: I choose this image from a variety of
different shots I took for this task. In each picture I had to consider
locations, props, actor positioning and lighting. This differs to my
preliminary task as I only took one photo and used just that one as I had
no other photos to choose from, I took a lot more care in my music magazine
photography and had to make the editorial decision of which pictures to
use.
Between 1min 16secs to 2mins: As well as this I did not give as much
detail in my preliminary task and my thought processes for my music
magazine were a lot more developed. For example I gave more consideration
into my font styles and even conducted surveys to ask for my target
audience opinion whereas for my preliminary task I just chose one myself
and used it. I also conducted surveys to ask about my use of colour in my
music magazine as I wanted to use colours that were conventional of my
genre whereas in my preliminary task I did not consider this as in depth. I
also did not have to use photoshop for my preliminary task pictures, but I
spent lengths of time on photoshopping my music magazine pictures and
positioning my articles, buttons and titles in order for my magazine to
look professional which took a considerably longer amount of time than my
preliminary task.
2. Between 2mins 30secs to the End: For my contents page I was a lot more
creative in my planning, I included photos and ideas for articles that I
wanted to include in my magazine whereas for my preliminary task I used a
very basic plan and lacked any creative thought processes which contrasts
to how I planned for my music magazine as I put a lot of thought into it.
Overall though I think that my DPS shows the most growth in my development
of skills as I constructed the plan and final result without a preliminary
task to refer back to and practise the layout with. I had to rely on
research into real magazines and try to produce my DPS to that standard
whereas with the other pages I could look back to my preliminary task for
inspiration.
