(Classroom Activity/ ALL LEVELS)
 Number of Participants: all students
 Number of Winners: 1 per class
 Competition requirement(s):
 Each student will provide their own materials.
 Mechanics:
 The contest isdone in 3 rounds; easy, average and difficult. There shall be
ten words every round.
 The set of words will be givenby Ma’am Sunshine. Grades7-8 and Grades
9-10 shall have the same set of words.
 The adviserswill give the correct pronunciation of the word, includingits
part of speech, definition, andit shall be used in a sentence. The word is
read twice only.
 For time allotment:
- Easy round- 5 seconds/ word
- Average round- 7 seconds/ word
- Difficult round- 10 seconds/ word
 For pointing system:
- Easy round- 2 points/ word
- Average round- 5 points/ word
- Difficult round- 10 points/ word
 The student who hasthe highest score will be declared thewinner.

(intermediate level)

 Competition requirements:
 Each class must have one representative.
 Mechanics:
 The topic shall begivenon the spot.
 The contestantsshall be given3 minutesto prepare and 3 minutesto
deliver.
 Speechesshould be delivered in English.
 The style of the delivery shall be conversational, oratorical, or a
combination of both.
 The contestantsshould wear formal and decent attires.
 Use of sound effectsand propsis strictly prohibited.
 The judges’ decision isfinal and irrevocable.

 The contestantsshall be a minimum of 3 minutesand a maximum of 7
minutesto deliver the piece.

 Competition requirements:
 Each year level must have six participants
 Mechanics:
 Language to be used isEnglish.
 Topicswill be given on thespot during thewriting contest.
 The participantswill be given30 minutesto prepare.
 Musical Style- up tempo, current, bright and inspiring
 The performanceshall bea minimum of 3 minutesand a maximum of 5
minutes.
 Lyrics should be legibly written ina short bond paper.
 The contestantsshould wear appropriateattires.
 The judges’ decision isfinal and irrevocable.

 Number of Participants: 1 section

 Competition requirements:
 The contestantswill present a recorded video.
 Mechanics
 The class shall write their own piece.
 One student shall perform through a recordedvideo.
 The setting shall be strictly inside their classroomsonly.
 The video or the spoken poetry shall only be a minimum of 2 minutesand
a maximum of 4 minutes. Effects, texts, and audioon the video shall be
allowed. The format of the videoismp4.
 A copy of the poem and the video shall be submittedon November 24,
Friday, 7am- 4pm. Failure to submit on the deadlineset shall meana 10
pointsdeduction per day.

 Competition requirements:
 Each class must have ten (10) participants. Therepresentativeswill be
combinedwith other sections; grade 7 and 10, andgrade 8 and9.
 The class advisers must submit namesof studentson November 8,
Wednesday, 4pm.
 Mechanics
 Each group will be givena pieceto perform.
 The piece shall be “The Good Samaritan”
 The number of participantsof thiscompetitionshall be 20.
 A minimum of 4 minutesand maximum of 6 minutesperformanceincluding
the entrance and exitshall be applied.
 A one (1) point of deduction shall be made for every 30second excess
during the performance.
 The decision of the board of judgesisfinal.

pronunciation, blendingand harmony)

o 10%- Costume, Sound Effects& Props(attire relevant to the
concept, sound production)

 Mechanics:
 The group will make the following structuresusing asmany malong asthey
can:
 Easy (2 people only): tree, windmill
 Average (5 people only): tower, house
 Difficult (8 peopleonly): jeepney, octopus, elephant
 NOTE: There must be two participantsto narrate the story using the
different structures, and there will be two actorson stage.
 Others will serve as fixers.
 The performancemust be a minimum of 5 minutesand maximum of 7
minutes.
 Any excess of time shall meanone point deductionper minute.

PROPOSED ACTIVITIES FOR ENGLISH FESTIVAL 2017 Junior High School Department Theme: No. PROPOSED DATE AND TIME SCHEDULE ACTIVITIES MECHANICS CRITERIA 1 Date: November 27, 2017 (Monday) Time: 11:00 a.m.- 12:00 nn Spelling Bee (Classroom Activity/ ALL LEVELS)  Number of Participants: all students  Number of Winners: 1 per class  Competition requirement(s):  Each student will provide their own materials.  Mechanics:  The contest isdone in 3 rounds; easy, average and difficult. There shall be ten words every round.  The set of words will be givenby Ma’am Sunshine. Grades7-8 and Grades 9-10 shall have the same set of words.  The adviserswill give the correct pronunciation of the word, includingits part of speech, definition, andit shall be used in a sentence. The word is read twice only.  For time allotment: - Easy round- 5 seconds/ word - Average round- 7 seconds/ word - Difficult round- 10 seconds/ word  For pointing system: - Easy round- 2 points/ word - Average round- 5 points/ word - Difficult round- 10 points/ word  The student who hasthe highest score will be declared thewinner.  Proposed Venue: Classrooms  Assigned Facilitator: Ma’am Sunshineand ClassAdvisers 2 Date: November 27, 2017 (Monday) Time: 1:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m Impromptu Speech Competition (intermediate level)  Number of Participants: 1 per section  Number of Winners: 1 intermediate and1 advanced level  Competition requirements:  Each class must have one representative.  Mechanics:  The topic shall begivenon the spot.  The contestantsshall be given3 minutesto prepare and 3 minutesto deliver.  Speechesshould be delivered in English.  The style of the delivery shall be conversational, oratorical, or a combination of both.  The contestantsshould wear formal and decent attires.  Use of sound effectsand propsis strictly prohibited.  The judges’ decision isfinal and irrevocable.  Proposed Venue:AVR  Assigned Facilitator: Ma’am Sunshineand Ma’am Elaine o 40%- Speech Content (Comprehensiveand Updated) o 30%- Organization o 20%- Delivery (Gesture, Facial Expression, Eye Contact) o 10%- Stage Presence TOTAL: 100% 3 Date: November 27, 2017 (Monday) Time: 1:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m Dramatic Monologue (advanced level)  Number of Participants: 1 per section  Number of Winners: 1 intermediate and1 advanced level  Competition requirements:  Each class must have one representative.  Mechanics:  The piece shall be “Am I to be Blamed?”  The contestantsshall be a minimum of 3 minutesand a maximum of 7 minutesto deliver the piece. o 30%- Presentation/ Character Portrayal o 20%-Poise/ Self-confidence o 20 %- Mastery o 20%- Delivery o 10%- Stage Presence TOTAL: 100%
  • 2.  The contestantsshould wear appropriate attires.  The judges’ decision isfinal and irrevocable.  Proposed Venue:AVR  Assigned Facilitator: Ma’am Sunshineand Ma’am Elaine 4 Date: November 27, 2017 (Monday) Time: 1:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m On-the-spot Jingle Writing (ALL YEAR LEVELS)  Number of Participants: 8 per grade level;4 per section  Number of Winners: 1 per year level  Competition requirements:  Each year level must have six participants  Mechanics:  Language to be used isEnglish.  Topicswill be given on thespot during thewriting contest.  The participantswill be given30 minutesto prepare.  Musical Style- up tempo, current, bright and inspiring  The performanceshall bea minimum of 3 minutesand a maximum of 5 minutes.  Lyrics should be legibly written ina short bond paper.  The contestantsshould wear appropriateattires.  The judges’ decision isfinal and irrevocable.  Proposed Venue:AVR  Assigned Facilitator: Ma’am Sunshineand Ma’am Elaine o 30%- Content/ Originality o 30 %- Organization/Choreography o 20%- Voice Quality o 10%- Over-all Impact o 10%- Stage Presence TOTAL: 100% 5 Date: November 29, 2017 (Wednesday) Time: 1:00 p.m-4:00 p.m Spoken Poetry (Stage Event/ ALL YEAR LEVELS)  Number of Participants: 1 section  Number of Winners:  Competition requirements:  The contestantswill present a recorded video.  Mechanics  The class shall write their own piece.  One student shall perform through a recordedvideo.  The setting shall be strictly inside their classroomsonly.  The video or the spoken poetry shall only be a minimum of 2 minutesand a maximum of 4 minutes. Effects, texts, and audioon the video shall be allowed. The format of the videoismp4.  A copy of the poem and the video shall be submittedon November 24, Friday, 7am- 4pm. Failure to submit on the deadlineset shall meana 10 pointsdeduction per day.  Proposed Venue: AMACC Gymnasium  Assigned Facilitator: Class Adviser o 25%- Content (relevance of topic) o 25%- Organization (unity of thought, flow of discussion) o 20%- Style (originality, creativity, props) o 20&- Videography o 10%- Mechanics(grammar, punctuation) TOTAL: 100% 6 Date: November 29, 2017 (Wednesday) Time: 1:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. Jazz Chant (Stage Event/ ALL YEAR LEVELS)  Number of Participants: 20  Number of Winners: 1 group  Competition requirements:  Each class must have ten (10) participants. Therepresentativeswill be combinedwith other sections; grade 7 and 10, andgrade 8 and9.  The class advisers must submit namesof studentson November 8, Wednesday, 4pm.  Mechanics  Each group will be givena pieceto perform.  The piece shall be “The Good Samaritan”  The number of participantsof thiscompetitionshall be 20.  A minimum of 4 minutesand maximum of 6 minutesperformanceincluding the entrance and exitshall be applied.  A one (1) point of deduction shall be made for every 30second excess during the performance.  The decision of the board of judgesisfinal.  Proposed Venue: AMACC Gymnasium  Assigned Facilitator Class Adviser o 30%- Delivery and Interpretation (quality of voice, fluency, and pronunciation, blendingand harmony) o 30%- Mastery (synchronization) o 10%- Choreography (creativity) o 20%- Stage Presence (stage poise,eye contact, and audience impact) o 10%- Costume, Sound Effects& Props(attire relevant to the concept, sound production) TOTAL: 100%
  • 3. 7 Date: November 29, 2017 (Wednesday) Time: 1:00 p.m- 4:00 p.m Craft Kwento Pro (Stage Event/ ALL YEAR LEVELS)  Number of Participants: 20-30 students  Number of Winners: 1 intermediate and1 advanced level  Competition Requirement(s):  Each group will providetheir own malong.  Mechanics:  The group will make the following structuresusing asmany malong asthey can:  Easy (2 people only): tree, windmill  Average (5 people only): tower, house  Difficult (8 peopleonly): jeepney, octopus, elephant  NOTE: There must be two participantsto narrate the story using the different structures, and there will be two actorson stage.  Others will serve as fixers.  The performancemust be a minimum of 5 minutesand maximum of 7 minutes.  Any excess of time shall meanone point deductionper minute.  Proposed Venue:AMACC Gymnasium  Assigned Facilitator: Class advisers 30%- Organization/ Flow of the story 25%- Mastery 20%- Delivery 15%- Aliw Factor 10%- Facial Expression TOTAL: 100% Prepared by: ELAINE R.
