GREETINGS FROM THE SECRETARY-GENERAL
Dear Sir/Madam,
On behalf of Vietnam National Model United Nations Organising Team, I would like to send you my warmest
greetings. We are proud to have the youngest Secretary-General in Vietnam and a diverse Organising Team.
Moreover, VNMUN is the first non-invitational conference that celebrates professionalism, internationalism, and
a world-class standard. Our members hail from many parts of Vietnam and around the world, with invaluable
experiences in prestigious conferences such as Harvard MUN, Yale-NUS MUN, and THIMUN Singapore. Together,
we wish to create another successful event this year.
After attending international conferences, we realise the positive impact that Model United Nations (MUN) has
on the development of young people. MUN provides a common ground for students of different nationalities,
ethnicities, and cultures to learn from each other, collaborate and make changes to our world. However, in order
to have an impactful event, we need your help. Your support would enable us to charge an affordable price,
allowing for students of various socio-economic backgrounds to experience a professional MUN conference.
As a part of this cooperation, VNMUN will try our best to promote your company’s image as well as to support
you in any events. VNMUN hopes that we would have a long-term collaboration. We wish for the growth of your
company. VNMUN will make every effort to promote your image in order to help to create the foundation of this
development.
Warm regards,
Khuat Minh Thu Giang, Secretary-General of Vietnam National Model United Nations 2016.

OVERVIEW
General Introduction
What is Model United Nations (MUN)?
Model United Nations is a simulation of real meetings which take place at the headquarters of the United
Nations. Here, participants perform a role pay as delegates from different countries and debate in English
to find solutions for global issues. This model is a highly credited extra-curricular activity.
What is Vietnam National Model United Nations (VNMUN) Conference?
VNMUN follows a model similar to the traditional MUN conference. We provide an international student
body, the freedom to register, and the opportunities to attend international conferences worldwide.
General information about VNMUN 2016
VNMUN this year would take place on August 5th
, 6th
, 7th
, 2016 in Hanoi. We are expecting 400 delegates,
with a minimum fee of 600,000VND. Normally, conferences in Vietnam where both Vietnamese and
foreign students can participate charge approximately 1,600,000 – 3,000,000VND. They also exclude
students who do not come from international schools.
Participants
Participants are high school and university students who wish to sharpen their critical thinking, improve
their public speaking and increase their chance of studying abroad.
Success of VNHNMUN 2015
VNMUN was found in 2015 with the name Vietnam – Hanoi Model United Nations (VNHNMUN). It was
held at RMIT International University, accepting more than 100 students from different cities as well as
students from other countries that are studying in Vietnam and students who are studying abroad in
Britain, United States of America, Singapore. The journey of VNHNMUN 2015 was published in national
newspapers such as Nhan Dan (People), Vietnamnet, Ybox and was broadcasted on VTV6.
All information could be viewed here: http://www.vnhnmun.org/#!national-press-recognition-/vq3a4.
Especially, delegate Vo Thi Giang from Da Nang has used VNHNMUN as an example for her thesis after
returning from the conference. In order to provide a bigger common ground for students in Vietnam to
debate, VNHNMUN changed its name to VNMUN.
5
AIM & MISSION
VNMUN’s biggest strength is its diversity. Our Student Officers and Organising Team members are from
India, Pakistan, South Korea, America…They had participated and received prestigious awards at
conferences such as Harvard MUN China, Yale-NUS MUN Singapore, The Hague MUN Singapore and
European Youth Parliament. Our mission is to bring an international, professional conference and make
participation affordable to both students from public and private schools
Another strength of VNMUN is that it allows its participants to cultivate their English and understanding
about global affairs. In an integrated world that we have today, VNMUN firmly believes that speaking a
second language fluently and having knowledge about international issues will be useful tools for
students in the future. VNMUN, thus, aims to enhance students’ English and global awareness by
debating resolutions to world issues.
