personal pronouns
 SINGULAR SUBJECTIVE PERSONAL PRONOUN
1. He – It takes the place of the name of a masculine person
or an animal.
Example: Dave has a dollar. He has a dollar.
2. She – It takes the place of the name of a feminine person
or an animal.
Example: Sharon will take us to the park. She will take us
to the park.
3. It – It takes the place of the name of a singular noun.
Example: The book is on the table. It is on the table.
 PLURAL SUBJECTIVE PERSONAL PRONOUNS
1. They – It takes the place of the plural noun.
Example: Apples are good for you. They are
good for you.
2. We – It takes the place of the nouns including the
speaker.
Example: Jane and I went to the store. We went
to the store.
REMEMBER:
I – takes the place of the
name of the person speaking.

COMPREHENSION
It was six o’clock. Lilian was waiting in the
canteen for her mother. Lilian’s mother
picks her up from school and walks her
home every day even though they live just
behind the school. In the canteen, three
other students were also waiting. Very
soon, all the students left with their
parents. Lilian was alone. She became
worried. Why was my Mommy so late?
What if Mommy didn’t come?
Lilian then walked towards the gate. She looked
around and waited. A young woman at the bus stop
opposite the school saw her and came up to her. She
spoke gently and was very friendly.
“Are you waiting for someone to pick you up? Don’t
be scared. I’ll wait with you,” the woman told Lilian
kindly.
A few minutes passed and Lilian still did not see her
mother.
“What a pretty necklace you have. Can I take a look
at it?” the woman asked Lilian.
Before Lilian could say anything, the woman
snatched the gold necklace from her neck and ran
away quickly. Lilian began to cry. They she saw her
mother. She told her mother about the woman and
the necklace. Her mother reported the matter at
the nearby police station. The policeman advised
Lilian’s mother not to let Lilian wear jewelry to
school.
Lilian’s mother was glad that Lilian was not hurt.
She was sorry and promised Lilian she would be
punctual next time.
