Climate Change Mitigation Targets
Expected GHG Saving by EOP will exceed the established target (25.2
ktCO2e/annum) :
Technology Demonstrations
Cumulative GHG reduction by EOP = 53.8 ktCO2e/annum
Total fossil fuel saving – 670,401 GJ/annum
Total electricity saving – 11,481 MWh/annum
Fuelwood Production Models
Cumulative indirect GHG reduction by EOP = 10 ktCO2e/annum
• Co finance investment leverage is about USD 7 million USD
oNeed to double the existing biomass consumption to eliminate the use of
fossil fuel completely in industrial and commercial sector
Enhancement of existing biomass supply chain
Market for improved biomass energy technologies
Local value addition. Development of local industry especially for O&M for
new technologies
Market for processed biomass. Briquets, Pellets, charcoal etc.

Establishment of Biomass Cell within Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority Simplified approving process for fuel wood harvesting and effective fuelwood plantation management system has been introduced by Ministry of Plantation Forest department has recognized the importance of fuelwood supply and introduced different models for fuelwood plantations Establishment of standards for sustainable production of fuel wood and solid biofuel in the industry

Climate Change Mitigation Targets Expected GHG Saving by EOP will exceed the established target (25.2 ktCO2e/annum) : Technology Demonstrations Cumulative GHG reduction by EOP = 53.8 ktCO2e/annum Total fossil fuel saving – 670,401 GJ/annum Total electricity saving – 11,481 MWh/annum Fuelwood Production Models Cumulative indirect GHG reduction by EOP = 10 ktCO2e/annum • Co finance investment leverage is about USD 7 million USD
