2. Presenter- This start with a wide shot of the creator of the product talking about what he has made and why, in this shot him
and the machine can both be seen as he tells the audience what this promo is about. This shot is using a tripod to keep
everything still and make sure that the audience attention isn’t drawn away from the main focus.
This would be using a fixed lens I know this because of the very deep depth of field and everything being focus, this imagery is
quite dark, and grainy down to the ISO being so high.
3. This then moves into a montage of the shots showing players using the machine. This starts in a wide shot and moves into a
close up show more of the effects from the machine. This montage does break the 180* line yet it is still effective because it
uses different groups using the machine, and it not people talking, so the change in perspective doesn’t confuse the
audience, these demonstrations focus on the use of the machine, instead of the people using it.
4. This then moves into demonstration by the creators as to what happens when the machine is used correctly and wrong, this is
done in a wide shot and hand held to emphasize the effect of the machine, The creator talk about what would happen is the
players hit the machine wrong and shows the audience how the machines would react, we then have a cutaway of the players
demonstrating that, showing how it affects their form and gives the coach immediate feedback. By this sequence being hand
held it makes the audience feel as if they are there with the players and watching with the coach.
Again all of the background is in focus meaning they have deep depth of field and the shutter speed is low to allow even more
light into the lens, the ISO is again quite high because of the amount of gain the shot.
5. We then move back to the tripod shot of the coach stood with the machine talking about how effective this is for
the coach as well, we are then given a cutaway of the female coach with her player talking to them as they use the
machine, talking about how effective what they’re doing is.
It then cuts back to being hand held and the coach given his final comments on the machine and talking to players
about how they feel about the machine, this two shot, mid shot, showing both the coach and the player talking to
each other.
6. All of this is effective in terms of the genre of the production which is a
promotional video, engaging the audience in the product and making them want
to learn more about the product and what it does for the players and coaches, this
is all presented well through a range of angles and shots, also using different
techniques like montages and cutaways. This lets the audience see the product in
use, and be able to know exactly what the machine does and how it can be used
players and coaches.
If this was to have been as a multi-cam shoot that would have made the
production of this a lot longer and more complicated, as using multiple cameras
would have been more equipment to carry and set up and make sure that each
shot isn’t the same as another or the equipment in the background when doing
this single cam was simple as this isn’t too long and doesn’t need a second or third
camera. Using single cam is also a lot cheaper and since this production was still in
the production stage and didn’t have much funding to make a high end promo,
paying for crew and equipment.
This promotional video could have used a three a camera set up to get different
angles of the creator and the people that he was talking to players, this would
have added to the effect of the final video instead pf using one locked of camera
for this conversation.
