2.  I used many new media technologies in the construction of
the research and planning of the product. It is important to
research because it’s a way of gathering information, in
which can allow us to make better decisions.
 The more information we have the better quality of our
product will be. Researching other peoples work may
influence us on ideas on our adverts. It will create
enhanced ideas for us, as we know examples of adverts, and
how they work.
 New media technologies helped us with the research as we
used the internet to create a survey. Using new media
technologies like the internet and email instead of a
questionnaire on paper we were able to get a quicker and
more efficient response.

3.  We used the internet to look at videos on YouTube. We
used YouTube to watch examples of past students work
and adverts in general. This gave us a stronger
understanding of adverts. The adverts we watched on
YouTube especially deodorant adverts taught us how
they look and have influenced our ideas and improved
our adverts.
 Therefore we have used new media technologies to
create a fast response effective survey which gave us
feedback on our ideas for advert and what the adverts
are about. It has helped us into further research by
viewing other adverts from the internet for ideas and
improvements on our own adverts.

4.  New media technologies has helped us on the planning of our
adverts, it helped us carry out research but also the creation of
the animated story boards. We used the DV cameras and Macs to
create the animated story boards. We took still pictures of the
paper story board and using iMovie on the Macs we edited all the
pictures into a video to create an animated story board.
 We used this so we could play the video and see from a story
point of view what the advert will look like. It showed what each
show looks like. With this created we could refer back to this to
see what needs to be filmed and plan the filming of the advert.
It showed us what shots need to be filmed so it was easier to
shoot the adverts as we knew what would happen.
 This also helped us because we could view the video and decided
what needs improving and what could be changed, in which
helped the adverts in the long term be more efficient. New
media technologies have helped us with the construction of the
advert.

5.  During the shooting of the adverts, the small DV portable
cameras have been very useful. Because the cameras are
portable this makes it more suitable to film as we can go to
any location and film without out the worry of the camera
having to have been plugged in.
 It allows the ease of filming in which ever location we
choose and we are able to move around and film and move
to different locations. Because the cameras are small and
lightweight this means it’s easy to hold in your hands and
follow the 180 degree rule as you can easy move around.
 Furthermore been able to use the camera in your hand
means it’s much easier to carry so tasks were a running
scene needs to be filmed will be possible. Also you can see
what you’re filming on the screen so mistakes are limited
and can follow the rule of 3rds more easily.

6.  A disadvantage of the cameras is you are not able to film in the
night. If you wish to film a scene during the night or a place
where it is dark then the quality of the filming will be poor as the
cameras don’t have the capability to film in dark places.
 Another disadvantage could be the camera has poor battery life
so filming time may be limited as the cameras may run out of
battery which could mean not all filming will be filmed. Also a
lot of background noise is picked up though the cameras so
noise and sound may be filmed in which isn’t needed.
 The limitations of iMovie are that it is unreliable software which
at times freezes and shuts down. With these problems you may
lose your work and have to start again because the program
crashes and closes.
 iMovie on the other hand is good because it allows you to mute
any unwanted sounds and add your own sound so any
background noise can be cut out and own sound imported. Also
it allows you to cut clips down, this allows you to use some
footage of the clip which is needed and discard which is not
wanted in the clip.
