N-Gage Promo Analysis
1. The video starts off with a talking head of the interviewee talking straight to the camera. It uses a lot of shots of the
machine in use; mainly including mid shots, close-ups and wide shots. This is effective as it is what people will want to
see – they want to see how it works and how useful it is. The video also uses a lot of talking heads of the interviewee
explaining the product to the camera. The video moves to montage style sequence, so it may break the 180 line of
action. This is to showcase the machine to properly see the impact on the rugby players scrummage. The production
was recorded using the handheld method, this was done for realism. The video was shot on an aperture of around 2.8,
as it is dark and there aren’t many lights, since it’s on an Astroturf field. The interviews would have been shot first for
this, so that there wouldn’t be much interference with the training of the players afterwards, where the montage style
shots would have been recorded. The production would’ve been shot over two days, as there are two different teams
training, the male team and the female team, they wouldn’t be training at the same time. The video then goes back to a
talking head of the interviewee explaining what happens if the scrummage is performed both correctly and incorrectly,
showing that it gives instant feedback, also showing him explain what would happen in real game situations if certain
things were done.
