PROJECT RATIONALE
Reading is fundamental. If is one of the most important ingredients to becoming all that you
can be. Teaching young children to read helps them develop their language skills. Most
importantly, it can not only help readers become a better learner, but a better person. It also
helps them learn to listen.
The KVES Family, especially the teachers intend to provide its fullest service among
struggling pupils in order to enhance reading aptitude while at the same time promotes healthy
independent reading habits among students of KVES.
KVES teachers are providing extra instructional time to help learners especially those who
were affected by the COVID 19 pandemic to achieve levels of literacy that will enable them to be
successful through their school careers and beyond. Remedial reading program is developed to
give additional help to KVES pupils who have fallen behind to learn to the best of their ability
and to bring back into the mainstream classes as far as possible. This project will also aim to
build stakeholders-Parent-Teacher relationships for establishing school-community partnership
that constitutes the foundation for of community involvement in education.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The project aims to accomplish the following objectives:
 Assist pupil at risk to improve their reading skills.
 Enrich/develop the reading abilities of slow/
nonreaders.
 Evaluate the improvement of the pupil’s reading
proficiency.
 Encourage a sense of personal responsibility for one’s
own progress.
 Improve learners’ reading performance through
stakeholders’ support.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project requires each classroom a remedial session
every day that conducted by the remedial teacher /class
adviser. The class advisers in all Grade level learners will
determine the students who needed remediation based on
their assessment tool (ex. PHIL. IRI) and cooperate by
scheduled times that student must attend remedial classes.
Each of the class advisers would strictly monitor struggling
pupils about their reading improvement using Remedial
Assessment Checklist.
PROJECT DURATION
This project is a whole year activity that
will start on September 2022 to June 2023
until all struggling learners improved their
reading skills.
TARGET BENEFICIARIES
Struggling pupils in all grade level of KVES
are the target beneficiaries of this project.
PROPOSED BUDGET
The estimated the overall cost of the
project that will be use in the preparation
and printing of reading and other needed
materials is Php. 12, 000.00.
MONITORING AND EVALUATION
Results of the success of the project will be based on the actual
accomplishment of objectives. The results of the project shall also serve as the
basis for reviewing, planning, and implementing the project. Learners will be
evaluated based on the impact of Project READS on their reading abilities and
their level of performance.
Reading materials which are the outputs of reading teachers will be utilized as
a tool in the implementation of the project and it will serve as one of the
parameters for the success of the project.
The extent of the success of the project shall be measured in terms of a) learners
and parents' participation in the project; b) level of performance of learners in
reading; c) evidence of learners' improved performance through the instructional
materials in the teaching-learning process used by reading teachers.
The project will be monitored by the project owner and by the Master
Teachers and School Head.

  • 3. PROJECT RATIONALE Reading is fundamental. If is one of the most important ingredients to becoming all that you can be. Teaching young children to read helps them develop their language skills. Most importantly, it can not only help readers become a better learner, but a better person. It also helps them learn to listen. The KVES Family, especially the teachers intend to provide its fullest service among struggling pupils in order to enhance reading aptitude while at the same time promotes healthy independent reading habits among students of KVES. KVES teachers are providing extra instructional time to help learners especially those who were affected by the COVID 19 pandemic to achieve levels of literacy that will enable them to be successful through their school careers and beyond. Remedial reading program is developed to give additional help to KVES pupils who have fallen behind to learn to the best of their ability and to bring back into the mainstream classes as far as possible. This project will also aim to build stakeholders-Parent-Teacher relationships for establishing school-community partnership that constitutes the foundation for of community involvement in education.
  • 4. PROJECT OBJECTIVES The project aims to accomplish the following objectives:  Assist pupil at risk to improve their reading skills.  Enrich/develop the reading abilities of slow/ nonreaders.  Evaluate the improvement of the pupil’s reading proficiency.  Encourage a sense of personal responsibility for one’s own progress.  Improve learners’ reading performance through stakeholders’ support.
  • 5. PROJECT DESCRIPTION This project requires each classroom a remedial session every day that conducted by the remedial teacher /class adviser. The class advisers in all Grade level learners will determine the students who needed remediation based on their assessment tool (ex. PHIL. IRI) and cooperate by scheduled times that student must attend remedial classes. Each of the class advisers would strictly monitor struggling pupils about their reading improvement using Remedial Assessment Checklist.
  • 6. PROJECT DURATION This project is a whole year activity that will start on September 2022 to June 2023 until all struggling learners improved their reading skills.
  • 7. TARGET BENEFICIARIES Struggling pupils in all grade level of KVES are the target beneficiaries of this project.
  • 8. PROPOSED BUDGET The estimated the overall cost of the project that will be use in the preparation and printing of reading and other needed materials is Php. 12, 000.00.
  • 9. MONITORING AND EVALUATION Results of the success of the project will be based on the actual accomplishment of objectives. The results of the project shall also serve as the basis for reviewing, planning, and implementing the project. Learners will be evaluated based on the impact of Project READS on their reading abilities and their level of performance. Reading materials which are the outputs of reading teachers will be utilized as a tool in the implementation of the project and it will serve as one of the parameters for the success of the project. The extent of the success of the project shall be measured in terms of a) learners and parents' participation in the project; b) level of performance of learners in reading; c) evidence of learners' improved performance through the instructional materials in the teaching-learning process used by reading teachers. The project will be monitored by the project owner and by the Master Teachers and School Head.
