2. PROJECT TITLE:
Project ISIP (Interbensyong Solusyon sa
Ikauunlad sa Pagbasa)
SCHOOL:
Antonio M. Serapio Elementary School
PROPONENTs:
John Louie C. Co and Maricel A. Manuel
3. General Information
A growing child's life will
always be significantly
impacted by school as a
learning environment.
4. During the previous academic years, when a pandemic hit our
educational system, our pupils' learning, particularly their
reading abilities, were on the line.
Pupils who are
struggling with
reading were
greatly affected.
Reading plays a very important role in enhancing the minds of
every learner, developing their capacity for focused attention as
well as their imaginative growth. It is the cornerstone of education
and the foundation of lifelong learning. It unlocks the unknown
and carries the reader to new discoveries and learning. It equips
the person with varieties of knowledge which he can use in his
daily living. It is the multi-faceted process involving word
recognition, comprehension and fluency in print.
5. A reading intervention project called Project ISIP
(Interbensyong Solusyon sa Ikauunlad sa Pagbasa)
is being offered to pupils in grade one. Its goal is to
address reading problems among learners and close the
gaps in reading, which will afterwards lead to an
improvement in their reading abilities. The reading
materials for the project will be created and prepared by
teachers in the aforementioned grade level that will also
be suitable for their learners reading skills. The
materials will be used and given by grade one teachers
as part of their reading sessions.
Summary
6. Project ISIP consists of a number of exercises with
different levels and stages depending on the students'
reading and learning abilities. It is a puzzle made up of
various images, letters, and words. By displaying images
and letters, the first stage will introduce letter recognition
and phonics. In the second level, pupils will be shown
pictures of various letters, and they will then arrange the
letters into words based on the picture. In the third level,
students will be presented with images and words, and
they will then construct a basic sentence based on the
imagery presented.
Summary
7. Background and Rationale
As an elementary
teacher, it is our
responsibility to ensure
their safety and support
their educational
pursuits.
Thence, given that grade
one is where our pupils’
foundational reading
abilities are laid, and
most pupils were battling
with reading, according to
earlier reading
assessments and
teacher’s observations.
Many students who took online courses in prior school
years were not given sufficient time by their parents or
homeroom teachers because of circumstances in
which they were employed or busy.
8. The previous academic year (2021–2022), grade one
teachers in-person and online administered reading
assessments to their learners. The results showed that
many pupils still struggled with reading, and 5% of
enrollees in grade one at Antonio M. Serapio Elementary
was retained in the grade level.
Thereby, providing rigorous reading interventions to
grade one pupils with close monitoring will help them
improve their reading skills. The project will give our
pupils the chance to receive adequate instruction in
reading. ,the Project ISIP will aim to reduce the
number of retained pupils in the grade level.
9. The project will involve grade one pupils at Antonio M. Serapio Elementary
School. They will undergo several levels of reading evaluations, and the
project's beneficiaries will be the identified struggling readers depending on the
results. The academic year 2022–2023 will see it run. It will most likely cost
between 4,000 and 5,000 pesos to take care of all the necessary items.
The project is a part of the
intervention activities in the
School Learning Continuity
Plan in addressing the learning
gaps in literacy, particularly in
reading abilities.
10. At the end of the project's execution, first-graders will have
increased their reading comprehension, reading fluency, and
ability to create simple sentences. The Project aspires to take
the initiative in creating engaging and enjoyable reading
materials for pupils in each grade level throughout the entire
school, not only those in grade one.
By the end of the project implementation, it is expected to:
1.Improve reading skills of grade one pupils
2.Reduce/eliminate non-readers in grade one pupils to zero%
3.Construct simple sentences
4.Foster a love of reading in children
Objectives
11. Outputs
1.100 % implementation of the project;
2.Documentation report/Accomplishment report
3.All grade one pupils become a reader
Outputs
12. This project seeks to assist struggling readers in becoming
more proficient readers by enhancing their comprehension,
vocabulary, and fluency abilities. Additionally, the project aims
to have no non-readers among first-graders a lower to zero
percentage retention rate.
Methodology
The project will begin by identifying the struggling readers
among the grade one pupils by administering reading
evaluations. The identified recipients will then receive a variety
of reading materials with the aid of their teacher. They will
regularly have their reading progress evaluated as part of the
project's monitoring.
13. Methodology
The pupils from grade one for the academic year 2022–2023, as well as
their teachers at those levels and the project team, are participants in this
project.
The reading materials for the project will be created and
prepared by teachers in the aforementioned grade levels and
the proponents of the project that will be suitable for learners
reading skills.
The reading materials consist of a variety of photos with
letters that pupils will form based on the images presented.
The same will apply to the words and pictures that pupils use
to construct a phrase based on the images.

A growing child's life will always be significantly impacted by school as a learning environment. Learners acquire their ability to read, write, and count at school. Moreover, school serves as the fountain of knowledge of a child’s development wherein teachers are the cultivators of their precious garden of knowledge and provide the tools to foster their skills and abilities.
During the previous academic years, when a pandemic hit our educational system, our pupils' learning, particularly their reading abilities, were on the line. Specifically, many first-graders struggled with reading, and based on the promotion level 5% of the population was retained at the same grade level as a result of the reading assessment that teachers administered.
Reading fluency is essential for learners’ academic development because problems with this skill may limit their ability to pick up other courses as they move through later grades.
Barack Obama once said, "Reading is the gateway ability that opens the door to all other learning." In order to accommodate learning experiences in various components and aspects of a learner's learning growth, it illustrates the value of reading to our learners.
As an elementary teacher, it is our responsibility to ensure their safety and support their educational pursuits. Thence, given that grade one is where our pupils’ foundational reading abilities are laid, and most pupils were battling with reading, according to earlier reading assessments and teacher observations. Many students who took online courses in prior school years were not given the chance or the time to teach reading by their parents or homeroom teachers because of circumstances in which they were employed. Thereby providing reading interventions to grade one pupil will help them improve their reading skills. The project will give our pupils the chance to receive adequate instruction in reading.
The project is a part of the intervention activities in the School Learning Continuity Plan in addressing the learning gaps in literacy, particularly in reading abilities.
