2 forms:
Standard slide- 3 ¼ inches by 4 inches.
Miniature slides- 2 by 2 inches.
Filmstrips (Film
 slides/slide films)
Is a series of still-pictures.
One strip may consist of
 14-70 frames, usually 35-
 40 frames.
Cannot be repaired.
There are sound film
 strips.
Transparencies
Transparent
 sheets (acetate)
 projected with
 OHP.
Can be colored/
 simple ink.
7 ½ by 9 inches
 (19 by 23 cm).
Slides, filmstrips and
 transparencies are unpopular
 nowadays.
But libraries still collect these
 types of materials, because of the
 valuable information it
 contained.
Motion pictures/films
Present moving and
 dynamic images.
Before, by reels
 presented with
 projector.
Now, in VCD/DVD
 form with the use of
 VCD/DVD players.
USES
Educational information.
The subject can be taught with detail
 and clarity.
Motivational force.
Easy to transport and use.
Interesting.
LIMITATIONS
For slides, filmstrips, transparencies, not
 excessive use.
For slides and filmstrips, lacks audition.
Commercially unavailable (slides,
 filmstrips, OHP)
Preservation and storage problem.
