Strategic Planning with Remote Teams: It's Easier Than You ThinkT Harris
Webinar - March 10, 2016
Anna O'Byrne of Upstream Meetings
Strategic Planning still matters – even in the age of agile management – and can be done remotely. It doesn’t have to be a one or two day session in a stuffy boardroom with 8-hour sessions or big consulting bills.
The success of a project depends on the humans in the team. The personal relationships are of utmost important. Social & emotional intelligence is key to understanding the dynamics in the team. Trust in team goes up as people feel seen, heard and appreciated. This presentation is an attempt to look at the human side of Agile & Scrum and understanding its importance.
How would you explain the creative process? Non-linear, complicated, frustrating are a few words that come to mind.
At Hightail, we want to free the world’s creativity.
We help teams do this by making the creative process easier.
“Hightail solved our creative collaboration problem by letting us stream video and comment inline, so all feedback is contextual.” Martin Pelham / Manager of Media Services, LAIKA

Failure to Launch: Research on Why New Digital Products Succeed or FailHighland
What if you could see the end-to-end journey of real leaders and teams who successfully launched a product, and could compare it to the journey of those who failed to launch?
With Highland's latest Digital Innovators Journey Report, that’s exactly what we’ve done.
Join Highland President Jon Berbaum and CX Practice Director David Whited as they share findings from in-depth qualitative interviews with product leaders who were responsible for the failure or success of a new digital product in the last 6 months. We’ve cataloged over 100 insights about the product development journey and distilled the most significant indicators of success or failure.
Attendees will learn:
1) Why successful and unsuccessful journeys look different from the very start
2) How leadership can significantly influence outcomes
3) What nearly every team—successful or not—forgets to plan for
This is an intro to strategic planning for teams that work virtually, distributed or remote. I make the case for strategic planning even for small, agile teams, and I share a bit about how teams can DIY strategic planning without ever having to meet in a single boardroom. From a webinar delivered with Lucid Meetings, March 10, 2016.

From Idea To Impact: Escaping The Strategy TrapDavender Gupta
When you're not (or your team is not) getting things done and you find yourself redoing and redoing your plan (or to-do list), you may be stuck in a "Strategy Trap". Here is a simple yet powerful process to snap out of it.
There are no “facts” about the future. Everything we think we know about tomorrow is based on what we think we know about the world today and our assumptions of where that will likely lead. Through a process of trial and error successful project managers, software developers, testers, and analysts usually develop a heightened sense of assumption recognition. But they often don’t think consciously about the assumptions they, their colleagues, business partners, and customers are making. Consulting project manager Payson Hall argues that improving your ability to detect and make assumptions explicit is a vital career skill. Payson will lead session attendees through a series of short experiential exercises to underscore the importance of identifying assumptions to facilitate problem solving, task definition, estimation, and conflict resolution. Gain insights that you can immediately apply in the workplace to improve your productivity and decision making.

A project manager’s job is not easy. It takes a massive level of involvement at every level to ensure that all projects under your guidance are taken to closure. Every one of the project management tips can enhance how you perceive and react to a given situation. These project planning tips are bound to help anyone engaged in the process of managing projects.

Introductionto Agile Executive Overview Gpi Asia Rev2Benjamin Scherrey
Our training partner, GPIAsia, asked us to produce an executive overview version of our 2-day Introduction to Agile course for an iTAP program intended to introduce Agile concepts to CMMI practitioners. Was an interesting challenge. Should know in a week or two if any of this gets traction from that audience. If it does, I'll take credit. If not - I'll blame my colleague Pam who delivered it with me. :-) As with all my presentations, you really need to hear the talk to get the full benefit but at least you can see the subjects we touch on.
With the evolution of software, starts an evolution of the software developer and how things are approached. A different and more responsible mindset is now required and with that comes the use of the Engineering Cycle that will provide not only the basic skill set but also the core base for a Software Engineer to handle any type of project.

In the world of process and process improvement, it is important to be realistic about what is actually possible. Constraints often prevent us from designing the process of our dreams. In this meetup we discussed what a constraint is in the context of business process optimization, how to identify them by using creative design activities, and how these imaginative exercises can be practically applied for realistic process improvement.
Agile experiences inside a Global Company - Daniel Wildt\'s perspectiveDaniel Wildt
The main problem while adopting Agile Methodologies is related to the Cultural Change. Imagine this happening in teams that work together with other teams, with different management strategies and different software development lifecycles. Different projects will be presented. With all these different scenarios, we will focus to understand challenges, actions taken and their results, success situations and failure situations transformed into lessons learned in this Agile adoption path. It’s a presentation to share a research work being developed for almost two years now, with some teams, and share lessons learned about applying Agile Methodologies inside a Global Company.

Why Do Projects Succeed or Fail?
Discover What Really Makes a Difference
Hello Mark,
For too long, project managers have believed that the right planning leads to the right results.
Yet time after time, independent research shows that the current approach to project management fails to produce the outcomes managers expect – and clients want.
It’s clear the traditional solutions to project management are not working. The key to improving project performance is not planning, but execution – creating and sustaining processes and behaviors that deliver consistent, quantifiable results.
Fortunately, the processes and behaviors to deliver consistent execution results are well defined and quantified. These form the Project Execution Maturity Model.
This identifies the elements that drive effective project execution excellence, giving you a measurable means to assess your status, to target areas of improvement, and to make meaningful progress in the way you deliver projects.
You'll learn:
What processes and behaviors lead to lower operating costs, increased throughput, and significant gains in on-time delivery performance
How to confidently identify and work on the right elements to change
Why achieving greater project execution maturity drives increases to your organization's financial performance
How to replicate success, project after project, by learning how to move your organization from ad hoc project management to control of projects, portfolios and continuous strategic improvement

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.
