Chhattisgarh has become a model state for development in India by being the first to introduce a Food Security Act for the poor. The state government has formulated welfare schemes for different sections of society and a new industrial policy aims to create jobs for local residents while attracting investment. Progress has been made in sectors like agriculture, education, infrastructure as well as inviting MoUs for steel, power and other industries to improve the state's development.
