After coming up with a range of name ideas, I looked at what names are available on a domain search website (the names with a tick are available) so if
I created this brand, I will have a website domain ready. Now this had narrowed down my options, I was able to think about the message behind the
name and how it will work with products. I also had to think about which names will be limiting in the future which will effect the brand. My top three
names are:
Smile As One – this creates a feel of a community where everyone will have a positive view as we are all smiling.
Let Us See Your Smile – this also creates a feel of community as ‘Us’ shows that you aren’t alone. I also think ‘Your’ makes it more personal for the
buyer.
Let The Sun Smile – this again, creates a sense of community as the sun is the star that connects us all together and that everyone sees. ‘The Sun’
creates a sense of brightness and ‘Smile’ is the effect that the sun has one everyone. I also like the metaphor of the sun smile as the sun influences
everyone.

Now I have my top three name ideas, I am able to see which slogans work with the names. I have used my name ideas for
the slogans as they all link together as I developed them to come up with more ideas. The slogan will be used on
packaging inserts and on the website so it won’t be the main aspect but I want it to link to the name. Having it link to the
name helps as the buyer will understand the message better and I could use the slogan on a product design with the
name and logo. Here are the names with the slogans that work:

After coming up with some brand names and then some slogans, I have decided to call my brand ‘Let The Sun Smile’ and use the slogan ‘Let’s Smile As One’. Both of these work well
together as the Sun is the One thing that links us together and The Sun is the brightness in our day.
Next I will be looking at logos for ‘Let The Sun Smile’ with and without the slogan.

Logo Design
For the top row, I started with all capital letters
which and the sun, I then added the face in sun. To
get just the smile, I added a box on top to match
the background so it removed the eyes and nose as
before, it looked too childish. I wasn’t sure the all
capital letters matched as the text was harsh and
the sun was calm so I tried capital letters at the
beginning of each word which suited the logo
better. I then tried the logo with a pale orange
background as I could use the pale orange in my
website and have a white background for the t-
shirts. My next decision was what text option to
use so I created them all and decided that the all
lower case letters work better to compliment the
sun and smile. Finally I tried the design with a line
under the sun but that separated the sections and
also messed up the spacing so I decided not to use
that.
In the last row, I have shown other designs that
didn’t work as well. The yellow is too hard to see
on a white background and on a pale yellow
background. I will try this in Photoshop to see again
but orange will be my main colour. I have also tried
the bottom right design with the slogan which
works but not having the slogan works better as
there is less to read. I also prefer the outline of the
sun instead of the filled in sun.

Logo Design
Here is my final logo idea in the six possible colours for my products. I have done this to get an idea of the options I have with one logo as I need to design a range of
products for the website. My main idea for my products is to have a Colour collection as there are many ideas for this collection.

Logo Design - Photoshop
After I had designed my logo on Wix.com, I needed to recreate it in Photoshop as it is free. To start with, I drew a circle with no fill and an orange outline as orange is my
main colour for the brand. I then created the smile by coping the circle, making it smaller and then right clicking the layer and selected rasterize the layer so I could erase
part of the circle. This meant that I had the smile at the same distance from the circle at all points to create the clean look. Next I copied the circle again and made it
larger to act as a guide for the lines. I started by drawing one line in orange and making it the same thickness as the circle. I then moved the line below the centre circle
whilst lining it up in the centre of the page and touching the outer circle. I copied the line and moved it above the circle. I then rotated a line 90 degrees for the side lines.
For the diagonal lines, I turned the line to a 45 degree angle and moved it to the bottom left. I copied this line and moved it to the top right and made sure it had the
same guide lines as the bottom left one. For the last two lines, I merged the diagonal lines and copied them to rotate them 90 degrees and move them into place. Finally, I
removed the outer circle for the clean minimal look.
Now I had the sun created, I needed to add text so I used the text tool and typed in ‘let the sun smile’. In Photoshop, the text is in capitals so I removed that setting so all
the letters are in lower case like the design on Wix. I tried a font called Consolas but I didn’t like the lines at the top of ‘l’ and ‘I’ so I tried Bahnschrift which has a more
minimal look. With Bahnschrift, I tried spacing the letters out so the text lines up with the sun, but the text didn’t look right as it was spread out too much. Next, I tried
lining up the text with the bottom diagonal lines, but the sun looked too big and it wouldn’t work on a t-shirt. Finally I tried the sun being smaller so the text lined up with
the edges which looked better and the scale works too. I like this design as the logo won’t have to be big to read the text and the design is clean and minimal.

Logo Design – White/No Background with Coloured Logo
Here are my final logo designs in the range of
colours I am wanting to use as my first
collection which is the colour collection. I have
decided to use these colours as they can be a
bold shade and even a pale shade.
I have exported the logos with a white
background and also with no background. To
get no background, I went file – export –
export as – PNG with Transparency selected.
Doing this means that I can use the logos
easier as I don’t have to use them on a white
background all the time. Having no
background will also help for product design as
I will create a range of products on the
computer. I will also create this logo in black
and in white to have if I need them.

Logo Design – Pale Background with Coloured Logo
Next I have used a paler shade of the colour by
moving the colour closer to white. I have kept
each colour the same shade to keep the theme
across the logos as they will look more like a
package then.
I have noted down the hexadecimal figures for
each colour so I can use them for the website.
I wanted to show the paler colour as I could use
the paler colour as the product and then have
the brighter shade as the logo.

Logo Design – Coloured Background with Pale Logo
Here are the logos but reversed as I wanted to
try a few options. This option would be used for
products as the product colour would be the
brighter shade with the pale logo. I like these
designs as there is a slight tint to the sun and
text however, it does make the logo look a bit
flat/dull.

Logo Design – Coloured Background with White Logo
Here is the white logo on a coloured
background as I thought it would be a good
combination with the contrast. I prefer the
white to the paler colour as the white looks
brighter and makes the design stand out more. I
also like the white as when you are looking at
the coloured background, the logo takes on the
tint like the pale design as there isn’t much
different between the white and paler colours.
This works as the logo will change slightly
depending on the angle and lighting.

Logo Design – Coloured Background with Black Logo
Here is my final logo idea. I have used the black
logo on the coloured background which works
well as the black makes the colours look bolder
and cleaner with the contrast. This is another
good option to think about when designing my
products.
With all the logo options, I have lots of ideas
and combinations to experiment with. This will
help as I can show a couple options when
designing the products and the website.

T-Shirt Design
Here I have used Dafont.com to find a range of fonts for the text on the back of my t-shirt. I have found a few in a simple design as the text needs to be readable. I would
say that the top four fonts are a bit too feminine for my unisex design and ‘Happy Now’ is to blocky for the minimal design. I have decided to use ‘Wellside’ for my
products. I have downloaded the font and imported it to Photoshop which means I can change it to bold, italic and change the size. This has given the best options for my
designs as I am able to use the same font for all my products and I had a large range rather than the default ones on Photoshop. I have then chosen a word which the
colour symbolises, from my planning section to put on the back of my t-shirts. I have picked the words with the idea of mental health as it will help to promote my
message even more about positivity and mental health. These words all have a link to mental health which means they all have a slightly different message but they all
have a positive vibe.

T-Shirt Design
I have then typed the words in ‘Wellside’ and filled them with the
correct colour to match the logo. I have put two words on a page
and then three logos on a page to spread them out enough for
cutting them. I have then sized the text to be smaller than the width
of an a4 page as it would be too big for the t-shirt if it was wider. To
get the pages ready for being printed on the iron on paper, I have
had to go to image – image rotation – flip canvas horizontally. I have
had to do this as you put the paper on the material face down so the
back of the paper needs to be the right way round. I will create a test
page before printing all the designs as I don’t have enough paper to
get it wrong.

T-Shirt Design – Product Photos
Here I have used the t-shirts I created using transfer paper to create the product photos to use on the individual product pages. I used the portable photo studio box to
get the equal lighting as it blocked other lighting and reflected the lights I set up. These photos have gone well as I have been able to make them similar to each other so
the website has that minimal theme. The black background has worked out well as it creates the best contrast to the white t-shirt and also makes the colours bolder.
Overall, these photos have worked well as the colours look really good and I have been able to position the t-shirt in the same place for all the designs to link the pages
together better.

T-Shirt Design – Product Photos
Next, I took photos of the t-shirts on a model to show how they fit a person and how it sits on the shoulders. I decided to take photos from the neck down to make it look
more unisex as I didn’t want to put people off by having a male or female model. I took photos of the front and of the back to show the whole design for the buyer as
both sides are different. I positioned the model to be in the centre of the photo as then all the designs will have the same overall look. I really like the black background as
like the other photos, it creates the strong contrast to the white t-shirt and the bold colours. Having the model stand further away from the background has helped to
create the solid black look which exaggerates the contrast. I have also shown the photography studio to show how we set it out with the two lights to cancel out the
shadows. I also used a canon 600D camera on a tripod to keep the composition the same for each design.

Website Design – Home Page
Here I have started my website design by picking a template from Wix and then
adapting it to my brand. To start with for the home page, I added a slideshow box to
show the colour collection as that’s my first collection in the brand. I decided to have
photos of the fronts, the backs and then some from the park photo shoot. I have
taken off the arrows and dots on the slideshow to have it looking more minimal like
the theme I am going for.
I have then added my logo in orange as orange is the main colour of the brand. I
decided to have the logo to the side of the slideshow as the slideshow was not long
enough for the screen and it also meant the logo would be big enough as it is a
portrait logo. To support the logo, I added ‘let the sun smile’ to the top which acts as
the home button which is in orange too. As this is a website from a template, there
were the sub sections on top row which I turned to orange too.
I would say that having all the sections orange, helps to exaggerate the brand colour
as orange. This also helps as orange also symbolises positivity which creates a
calming atmosphere for the buyer.
I also really like the minimal style to go with the orange which compliments the calm
atmosphere.
I have edited the sub sections to turn black when
they have been clicked to show the user what page
they will go to. I will also do the same for the other
section to have the text orange and then have the
text black when clicked. Having them the same will
help to keep the theme from one section to
another as it adds up for the whole effect.
I have also decided to use a png file for ‘let the sun
smile’ on the top banner as then the fonts will be
the same as Bahnschrift is not a font on Wix.com
and I couldn't find it to download it in Dafont.com.
Next, I have added another slideshow to show the
t-shirts being worn to show the buyer what the
design looks like on you. I have used the park for
the background of these photos as it is an open
space, and it also symbolises people’s playful sides
that they may hide when they are anxious.
I have done three slides on this section, one for
each colour pairing, to show all the designs and to
have the slideshow look the same on each slide.
At the bottom of each page, I have
added an email subscription form to
help build the mailing list up if the
brand ended up as a public store.

After I had the main aspects for my website, I added the text to introduce the brand and the colour collection. Adding this text works as it breaks up the slideshows and it
helps the buyer understand what the message of the brand is. I have then added a ‘shop now’ button to each photo of the first slideshow which takes you to the shop
page. This helps to navigate around the website easier and it attracts the buyer to the products quicker as the button is is the first interactive aspect on the home page.
After I had added all of this, I thought it would be good to have the slideshow interactive by adding the arrows and dots so the buyer can select photos instead of waiting
for the photo to return.

Website Design – Shop Page
My next page that I needed to edit was the product page to show all the t-shirt designs and the prices. I started by deleting all the products that was on the template
design and I began to add my own. I started by importing all the photos of the designs so that I could select the four photos, add the name and price to the product page.
After adding all six products, I rearrange them to be in the order of the colours as shown in the photos on the first slideshow. Having them in this order links the pages
back to the home page with the order in the photos. I was also able to change the text to Arial and the price to orange to highlight the key information which again kept
the theme from all the pages. When you click on the products the page on the right appears which has the same information but there is also a description about the
product. I was also able to change the buttons to orange to make this page the same as the rest so all the pages create the minimal design I am going for. As shown on
both pages, I have kept the email subscription form at the bottom of each page as it helps to gain the mailing list.

Website Design – Basket Page
For my next page I have designed the mini cart page and the full cart page. To start with
I edited the mini cart page which appears when you click on the cart symbol in the top
right corner. I changed the top banner to be orange and then have the text to be black
which is the same as the other pages. This design also looks good when it appears on
the screen as you can see the page you were on as the colour scheme and layouts are
the same. The page after the mini cart banner is the cart page which has all the order
details such as the total cost, delivery cost and a place to add a code or notes. I was
also able to change the key text and buttons to orange to make them stand out more
than the other information. Using the template has helped to ensure all aspects will be
added to the cart and all information that the buyer needs, is shown in this page. Using
the template has also meant that the buying process is set up such as the basket and
checkout stage.

Website Design – FAQ Page
For another page, I have designed the frequently
asked questions page to fit my brand. I have used
four common questions for clothing brands to show
what the page could be like. I have made the ‘FAQ’
text to be the same size as the ‘Shop All’ text so it
creates the clean look when you move from one
page to the next. I have also changed the ‘Common
Question’ text to orange to make it stand out more
than the questions as it balances the page out.
Once I had typed up my questions, I edited the
table so there were the arrows instead of plus signs
and when you open a question, the other one
closes so the page stays the same length. Doing this
also means that when you open a new question,
you don’t have to scroll down the page to look at
the answer, it is still on the page.

Website Design – Contact Page
My next step was to change the contact page to fit my design. I have started by replacing all the blue sections to being orange such as the headings for each box. Doing
this has helped to make the page blend in to the rest of the website with the orange highlighting the main aspects. I have made the text at the top ‘Get in Touch’ to be the
same size as the other heading on the different pages such as ‘Shop All’. This helps to have the similarities between these pages and it helps to make some pages look
more interesting instead of them looking like a boring form. I have added the email subscription form at the bottom which could be taken off this page as their email will
already be entered in the form. I would still keep the email subscription form as it means the page is longer so the buyer can see everything instead of it being cut off.

Website Design – Profile Page
For the first section of designing my profile pages, I changed
the text to orange and the font to Arial to link these pages to
the rest of the website. For every page, there is a header
which has the home button, the sub sections and the basket
icon. Having this header makes the navigation of the website
a lot easier for the buyer which means it won’t stress anyone
out. For each section, I have changed the buttons to orange
as the default blue didn’t go with the design. As an overall
look, the orange as the main colour works with the black text
as it shows the orange text is the more important things to
look for and the black text is the information for each section.

Website Design – What I Have Changed
I have changed the layout of the home page as it wasn’t
fitting on a few pc screens. To fix this, I have rearranged the
aspects to fit in the guide lines as everything will be shown
on screen for every computer. As shown to the side, I have
taken away the large logo as it wouldn’t work with the ‘let
the sun smile’ in the header. This has worked well as I have
been able to have three logos for my brand, one with just
text, one with just a drawing and one with both.
Rearranging the home page means that the website will be
useable for more people and it will work better on a mobile
device as the aspects have been arranged in a more
portrait style.
Another small thing I changed on the home page was
having the colours swapped so orange, blue and pink were
above the other colour. This keeps the theme throughout
the website and makes it look cleaner.
The only other thing I have changed from my website are
the first three photos as the colours needed to be swapped
to match the rest of the photos and to match the shop
page layout. I have retaken the photos so orange is above
the yellow, blue is above the green and pink is above the
purple.
Another aspect that I have changed is having the products
in two columns as it means the colour pairings are next to
each other. This works as all the other photos and layouts
have the colour pairings next to each other. It also means
that the photos for the products are larger for the buyer.

Video Advert - Sequences
Here I have started with arranging my files. I found the background music from epidemicsound.com as it has royalty free music. This meant I was able to choose from
thousands of songs from all genres. I started by finding the instrumental songs as I didn’t want a track with lyrics as it wouldn’t fit with the message. After I had chosen my
track and imported it to Premiere Pro, I was able to find my videos from my photo shoot as I took videos as well as photos. I used the videos of the t-shirts on the grass
and then I used the videos of the black background idea for the three pairings of colours. As you can see I have tried three sequences of the videos. For the first sequence
I tried having the videos alternate from the backdrop to the grass. For the second sequence I tried the grass videos followed by the backdrop videos. For the third
sequence I tried the backdrop sequences followed by the grass videos. For all the sequences, I had the backdrop videos played in reverse and then normally which didn’t
work as it made the video too long and it would loose the interest of the viewer as it would stay on the same subject. I decided to go for the second sequence with the
backdrop videos only playing normally and not playing in reverse. This works the best as the video is shorter and you are shown the products first then you are shown the
designs on the models. I made the grass videos to be 6 seconds and the backdrop videos to be 5 seconds to make them equal. For the sequence I chose, the sequence
needed to be broken up as the backdrop videos got repetitive without anything between the three videos. To fix this, I experimented with different video transitions. For
the transitions from the grass videos to the next video, I tried dissolve – dip to white and also dip to black as they are minimal and fit with the idea of the advert. I decided
to use the dip to white as the t-shirts are white and I wanted to keep the brightness throughout the brand. For the transitions from the backdrop videos to the next video,
I tried immersive video – VR Lights Leaks and VR Iris Wipe as they weren't over the top or moved the page too much. I decided to use VR Light Leaks as it links to the
colour collection idea, the other transition didn’t fit the advert as well as it removed a layer which was too minimal as the next video is another version of the last.

Video Advert – Ending
After I had finished my sequence, I needed to have a section at the end that
gave more information/promoted the brand better. I completed this sequence
by using PNG files made on photo shop as I had most of them already made. I
used the text from the back of the designs, I used the orange logo, the colour
collection text and added ‘shop now’ and ‘letthesunsmile.com’. After creating
all the PNG files, I imported them to Photoshop to arrange them in the correct
order. To start with I put the white background underneath and layered the
logo on top. I made the logo larger to fill over ½ of the page and then added
the text below. I started with the colour collection text for a second then put
the coloured words in order to show for 10 frames. This works well as it flicks
through the designs to refresh the viewers memory of all the words and also
to remember the colours. I then used ‘shop now’ for a second and then
‘letthesunsmile.com’ for another second. To make the slideshow effect work, I
had them all at the same scale and all in the same position so there were
smooth transitions instead of the text jumping around a bit.
To create the slideshow effect, I needed to create the text on Photoshop. For the ‘Colour Collection text, I wanted to have something different to the orange text so I tried a gradient
of the colours but it didn’t work as the pink and green merged to make a brown. I then tried highlighting a few letters and changing the colours which worked out better as they were
all solid colours instead of the mixture in the gradient. My next decision was how to split the colours as there are 16 letters. I decided to have the yellow with two letters as it is less
visible on the white background for many people and I also used two letters for purple as the are wider letters so it looks the same as the rest. I had thought about having yellow on
three letters but I wanted the blue to be the connecting colour between the words to show that there is more to the design. I have changed the colour collection title on my website
to be this design too as it helps break up the orange and it also shows what colours are available.
Overall, I am very happy with my advert as it flows well with the transitions, the designs are shown with and without a model so people can see both as it helps to get the full idea of
what you are buying. I am also happy with the little animation at the end as it makes the advert more interesting and unique.

Poster Designs

To add to my production and brand, I wanted to create a poster to advertise my brand. I started by taking a
photo of the back of my orange design with half the photo on the backdrop. This meant that I could add text
to the top instead of cramming it in a smaller space. I edited the photo in Lightroom by brightening the t-
shirt slightly and by darkening the backdrop more. After reducing the blacks, the backdrop wasn’t fully black
so I edited the photo in Photoshop. I added an adjustment layer – levels and moved the black tag so the
whole backdrop is solid black. I then wanted to add an effect from my research so I decided to create the
neon boarder so I followed the steps in my research PowerPoint. I started with creating a boarder in the
same orange as the text. I then added an outer glow in the orange which didn’t look right as there wasn’t a
larger fade. To help fix this, I changed the boarder to white which works well as the white boarder with the
orange glow looks like the t-shirt. Once I had the boarder design correct, I used the eraser to give the effect
that I am in front of the boarder as I erased the boarder on top of my back. This looks good as the main
focus is still on the t-shirt and text. My last step was to add text to the top. I used the same text from my
website and products to link them all together better. My favorite design was the text logo, colour collection
heading, the shop now sign and the website as it gives a place to look and buy. Having the text and symbol
logo didn’t work as well as it got lost in the background as it isn't as bold as the other text. I have also shown
what the three designs look like in real life.
