Comparing Laoag City And Davis California
Laoag City, Philippines and Davis California are separated with approximately 8207
miles apart across the Pacific Ocean. Even though the United States and the
Philippines is vastly different in many areas, comparing cities will give as a wider
perspective of the comparisons and differences between the cityof Laoag and of Davis.
Both cities have unique characteristic that sets both cities widely similar and
different. In term of educational opportunities, Laoag city and Davis offers a high
quality education but yet they are both different in standards and the mindset of
students.
The United States of America has influenced the educational system of the
Philippines. Laoag city and Davis California are both sites of the most prestigious
colleges on their own countries. Namely, The University of California, Davis (UC
Davis) is located at Davis California where it is one of the nine University California
campuses in California while Laoag sites three different colleges, the Mariano Marcus
State Univeristy (MMSU), ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Where ever you may go you will notice that all students in any of these colleges are
very hardworking and diligent to their studies. Students are motivated to graduate
and pursue their degree. Yet there is a big difference of the mindset of students
from my hometown and here at Davis. More students back in my hometown are
more motivated to learn and that they would attend classes on a Saturday than a
fraction of the students here at UC Davis who even skips regular school day classes
and go to parties on week ends. The reasons behind this is that education in my
hometown and all over the Philippines is based on who can afford to pay in their
pocket because the government doesn t give help to students. In contrast to the US
where education is right not a privilege, in which the government helps less fortunate
students to go to
A Recommendation For Worldwide Governance
Recommendation for Worldwide Governance
Due to the global implications of some decisions made by Volkswagen, governing
boards should strengthen their impact on worldwide automakers by working in
conjunction with other countries in enforcing needed global regulations. If the
impact of a product is global, then governance leadership of that product should also
be at a global scale. Collaboration may never be achieved globally, but major
consuming countries working in conjunction to enforce needed regulations, can make
the same impact. In the case of the VW emission scandal, several countries are
assisting in holding Volkswagen accountable but each country is performing their
own investigation and requiring Volkswagen to correct the... Show more content on

If standards are uniform, it would allow for concentrated research and development of
vehicles that would benefit the world. Understanding that not all nations will
participate, the most influential and largest consuming nations will be empowered by
the benefit of consolidated and uniform rules.
Imposing Worldwide Environmental Penalties
If emission standards and other vehicle operating regulations are globalized, then
the penalties implied on car makers should also be globalized. The impact would be
immediately greater, making compliance so much more important. Violations, such
as the emission deception, do impact the entire world, therefore, penalties should
also be at a higher unified level to assist with resolution and re standardization when
needed. A global voice will be much more powerful, moreover, the additional
worldwide penalties would not eliminate or reduce each individual countries
penalties. Penalties would have to be closely monitored so as not to cripple a
company overall.
Recommendations for Consumer Protection
Governing boards must empower consumers with needed tools to make safer
business decisions. If tools are given to the consumer to protect their purchases from
car makers, consumers would more comfortably recover from product issues and
continue purchasing. For some consumers, the impact of the VW deception will
cause loss of funds,
The First Phase Of The Second World War
Throughout the first phase of the Second World War in Europe, Germany sought
to avoid a long war. Its strategy was to win a decisive victory over their opponents
with a series of short campaigns. Germany quickly took control of most of Europe
and was victorious for more than two years with the Blitzkrieg (lightning war).
This new military tactics required the concentration of a powerful set of offensive
forces (tanks, aircrafts and artillery) on a narrow front. By practicing a breach in
the enemy defenses, these forces allowed the armored divisions to quickly
penetrate and maneuver freely behind enemy lines, disrupting their defenses. The
German Air Force prevented the enemy to resupply, to redeploy its forces
efficiently and to send reinforcements to close the breaches that occurred in his
front. The German forces were thus able to encircle the enemy and force him to
surrender. In June 1941, the German forces invaded the Soviet Union. The
blitzkrieg seemed at first to be a success. Soviet forces retreated over 900 km to the
gates of Moscow, suffering huge losses. However, it was on the Soviet territory that
the blitzkrieg showed its limits. In this context, the amelioration of the allied forces
readiness after the two first years of the war, and the vulnerability of the blitzkrieg
to logistics and qualified manpower, reduced greatly its success after 1941. The
adaptation of new defensive tactics by the allies has greatly contributed to the failure
of the blitzkrieg.
2.2 Harm-Reduction Analysis
2.2Harm reduction perspective
The other perspective moves away from drug control approaches that criminalize
drug users to evidence based strategies that treat addiction as a chronic medical
disease. The harm reduction perspective begins with the assumption that it is not
reasonable to assume that individuals make healthy decisions. Examples of this
approach include NSEPs, Opioid agonist therapy, behavioral interactions, among
others. Proponents of this approach hold that those trapped in dangerous behaviors
often are unable and/or are unwilling to break free of them, and should be at least
enabled to continue these behaviors in a less harmful manner (Viahov et al, 2001).
Hence, treating drug dependency as illness absolves drug users of ... Show more

In 1988, 130 needle exchange programs were operational in the United States, with
the coverage of these programs varying widely. In 1999, the US had 160 programs,
whereas Australia had more than 2000 programs (Viahov et al, 2001). As of 2015
there are 31 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico that have NSEPs.
What about the remaining 19 states, one may ask? Those states who excluded
themselves from this program are governed by political ideologies like Mike Pence,
former governor of Indiana, now the Vice President of US. Early state adopters like
Washington (1988) and New York (1992) have seen the rates of injection related HIV
infection declining as did other states that proceeded to implement NSEPs (Rich

Unit 4222 324 Support individuals with specific communication needs.
Kate Wilson
Outcome 1 understand specific communication needs and factors affecting them.
1.1 Explain the importance of meeting an individual s communication needs?
Individuals that have communication problems need help and support to enable them
to express themselves in the way they want, it s important that you find out the best
way for the individual to communicate for example it may be through sign language
or writing what they want to say down on paper, you must respect their preferred
method of communication as it is everyone s human right to communicate and not
allowing them to do so is stopping them from expressing their options and rights.

You may be working with doctors or speech therapists.
2.2 contribute to identifying the communication methods or aids that will best suit
the individual.
As some peoples communication can change day to day due to medical or physical
conditions you can help to identify the best methods to suit them by monitoring them
and reporting what you find to your manager they can then put in place aids or
different methods that will best suit the individual. Also they will be able to set up
meetings with the appropriate people e.g. speech therapist.
2.3 Explain how and when to access information and support about identifying and
addressing specific communication needs.
You can access the service users care plan this will help you to identify any specific
needs that they may have, you can then give them the support that is needed to
deliver the best possible care
Outcome 3 Be able to interact with individuals using their preferred communication.
3.1 Prepare the environment to facilitate communication.
You can find out how the individual feels more comfortable, it could be one to one
or they may prefer to be in a group. Make sure there is not a lot of background noise
and distractions have a good seating arrangement where you can see and hear each
other without having things in the way and so you don t have to shout to hear each
The Institute Of Electrical And Electronics Engineers Essay
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is a worldwide
association of professional dedicated to the advancement of technology. They have
developed 802 Standards that have impacted most of the modern era of
telecommunications and computer networking. The American National Standards
Institute (ANSI) overlooks standardization over a broad spectrum of products and
services in numerous industries including technology, electronics, construction, dairy
and livestock. Established almost 100 years ago, ANSI has provided standards for
many products including lamps, cameras and computers. The International
Organization for Standards (ISO) is a similar body that has an international focus in
providing standards for many different sectors including technology, food safety,
agriculture and healthcare. Similar in nature to ANSI, ISO was originated in the U.K.
after World War II. All three associations are committed to in making advancements
in products and services and avoid waste and ensure safety by implementing standards
in business industries to create stability and commonality. The three bodies have
working agreements of cooperation. Also, each organization was founded by
engineers. The IEEE is more focused on telecommunications and technology. The
IEEE has a global membership and has many working groups that target the critical
standards in today s telecommunications. Its foundation is based on the very

Meaning Of Life In Summer Day By Mary Frye
What is the meaning of life? Jeremy, from Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life by
Wendy Mass, he often asks that question throughout his journey to open the box in
the novel. In Summer Day by Mary Frye, she asks about the world and many
questions that have currently no answers. Mass and Frye convey the message of
life is short and every moment should be lived to the fullest through the use of
repetition of rhetorical questions. Mass and Frye both get their shared theme of life
is short and every moment should be enjoyed, through using rhetorical questions.
Mass highlights one section of Jeremy s dad s letter when, I thought, what if this
woman was right? If I only had 4O years, how many more times would I eat

We Must Regain Our Lost Civil Liberties Essay
With our nation s tragedy of September 11, 2001, arose a deeply shaken America,
shocked by the extent of the cruelty. An act of terrorism of that magnitude had never
been seen before in our country. Patriots quickly came together, supporting the
president to pass legislation, known as the USA Patriot Act, to tackle internal and
external threats to this nation. The debate ensued, focused on which types of
surveillance technology should or shouldn t be allowed for arresting terrorists.
However, the question remains as to how these devices are going to be used, and
how personally are those who use them held accountable. The purpose of this paper is
to confirm that the proposed monitoring and archiving of users information on...

One of the laws included in the Patriot Act is the Electronic Communications Privacy
Act or ECPA. The ECPA is used to monitor and retain information while intercepting
....email and other electronic communications... and specifies the government s
access to this type of information (The USA Patriot Act, 2005, p.4). One difference
between the ECPA and other laws included in this Act is probable cause. The
ECPA does not mandate probable cause, thus posing serious privacy violations with
the use of trap and trace devices. According to Gerdes, in the book, The Patriot Act,
a trap and trace device is described as a device which captures the incoming
electronic or other impulses which identify the originating number of an instrument
or device from which a wire or electronic communication was transmitted (Gerdes,
2005, p.119). The trap and trace information, which is tailored to electronic
communication, can only be relevant during court proceedings when an attorney
provides a judicial certification before the installation (The USA Patriot Act, 2005,
p. 5). According to the ACLU, the trap and trace devices monitor all electronic
communication and to perform this type of surveillance the government only needs
to show probable cause (National Security, n.d.). The issue of our privacy rights has
definitely been influenced since 9/11, we have all been affected and at the height of
all the terror and fear, our absent civil liberties simply went unnoticed.
Brutus and his bad decisions and misfortunes
Brutus: A Tragic Hero The Tragedy of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare depicts
a tragic hero, or one who has high standing and causes his own downfall. The tragic
hero is Brutus, and he makes multiple and ultimately fatal mistakes that lead to his
enlightenment and then his death. Brutus death is the result of many misfortunes,
including being herded into the conspiracy and thus aiding in the death of Caesar,
hearing of the death of his loyal wife, and waging a war against Rome. Brutus
negative characteristics are his flawed reasoning and bad judgment. While still
planning Caesar s murder, Ciceros name is brought up and it is suggested that he be
included in the conspiracy. However, Brutus is against this thought, saying that...

And you shall speak/ in the same pulpit whereto I am going. / After my speech is

last, he has allowed Antony to use his words against him. As seen in the text, it is
much easier to persuade when speaking last than when speaking first. After being
chased out of Rome alongside Cassius, another misfortune is his fight with him
over money problems. Brutus claims that Cassius has become greedy. He is
furious that Cassius is not helping him even though they are allies. However, the
money that Brutus wants is actually the money that Cassius is taking from the
soldiers who buy their ranks. While he could just as easily do the same, he defines
himself as too noble a person to do such a thing. Let me tell you, Cassius, you
yourself/ Are much condemned to have an itching palm (966). Cassius is offended,
and tells Brutus that he should be glad that they are allies. Brutus enlightenment
occurs around the time he commits suicide. Right before his demise, with his final
dying breath, he mentions Caesar to put him at ease. Farewell, good Strato Caesar,
now be still; / I killed thee with half so good a will (997). There are many opinions
as to what kind of character Brutus is. He seems to be a sympathetic character above

Hardware is the first place that the differences between the iPhone and Android
become clear. Apple is the only company that makes iPhones, giving it extremely
tight control over how the software and hardware work together. On the other hand,
Google offers its Android software to many phone makers (Samsung, HTC, LG, and
Motorola, among others, offer Android phones). As a result, Android phones vary

Add that to the battery intensive apps Android phones run (including some in the
background that the user doesn t necessarily know are there), a charge every day (or
less) isn t unheard of.
If you re looking for the biggest screens available on smartphones, Android is your
clear choice. It s not uncommon to find Android phones with 4.3 inch screens, and
the HTC One X offers a 4.7 inch screen, while the Samsung Galaxy Note stretches
the ruler at 5.3 inches. So, for sheer size, Android it is.
While Apple long held to the 3.5 inch screen size, the iPhone 5 brings a 4 inch
screen. However, instead of making the entire device proportionally bigger, and
therefore a less comfortable fit in the hand, Apple made the screen taller, but not
wider. This allows the phone to still be easily used with one hand. Besides that, the
Retina Display technology gives the iPhone s screen much higher pixel density (how
many pixels can fight in the same physical space; the more pixels the better the
image) than many Android screens. Still, if it s raw size you re after, Android s the
choice, but not by much.
For the fastest wireless Internet experience, you have to go to Android. That s
because for now only Android devices support true 4G LTE networking, the wireless
data standard that is succeeding, and outspeeding, 3G.
If you like to have a lot of choices, Android is your best bet. Just like there are many

An Analysis Of Weisman s The World Without Us
The Power of Nature: Rhetorical Strategies in Weisman s The World Without Us:
Unbuilding Our Homes In the book World Without Us, author Alan Weisman talks
about what would happen to the natural and built environment we ve established if
humans suddenly disappeared. In Chapter two, Unbuilding Our Home, Weisman
effectively informs his readers of the total control that nature has on our society by
describing the immediate effect it takes on our own homes. He forces the readers to
recognize that we coexist with nature yet nature has the upper hand on man made
objects. Weisman achieves this by targeting the readers emotions through description
and personification and by providing insight that appeals to the reader s intellect of
the future. In Chapter 2, Weisman walks us meticulously through the steps that lead
inevitably to the complete destructionof almost every single part of our houses. The
first and last enemy is water. Water sneaks in at the weak points of roofs, near the
chimney. Mold begins to grow on wet wood; under the mold, threadlike filaments
called hyphae are secreting enzymes that break cellulose and lignin down into
fungi food. (page 16) The roof falls in. More water enters through the windows,
some shattered when birds flew into them. The floor corrodes. Squirrels and lizards
eat the drywall. Vinyl siding begins to crack as its plasticizers weaken. Even
aluminum begins to break down, as salt eats it away. Steel gas pipes begin to rust
away.

King Francis-Personal Narrative
I had hardly been able to get much sleep. I had had a terrible nightmare last night. I
remembered it so vividly. In my nightmare I had been walking down the aisle,
wearing a stunning cream colored wedding dress trimmed in gold lace. The dress
in which I do recall was quite lovely. Everyone in the church watched me as I
smiled at everyone while four of my servants had held the train of my dress. Once I
had made it to the front of the church the groom had become more visible to me. It
had been King Francis. I had continued smiling at Francis as the priest had begun
the ceremony. After a while, me and Francis had slid a golden ring on each others
finger. Soon the priest had finished speaking and it was time for us to share a kiss.
I had gladly leaned in and kissed him. Then I had woken up. I definitely did not want

The Spread Of Christianity Analysis
Introduction
As one of the largest religions in the world, Christianity played a prominent role in
shaping western civilization in the late Roman and early medieval periods. It is
generally known that the development of any religion is not smooth or through a
single channel. Based on the case of Christianity, from its establishment in the mid
first century until the early fourth century, it was persecuted for three hundred years.
Despite this, the conversion eventually happened at different times in different
regions of Europe. In 313, the so called Edict of Milan was issued to mark when
Constantine (306 337), the emperor of the Western Roman Empire, recognized
Christianity s legitimacy and then in 392, Theodosius I (379 95) officially determined

Marketing Strategies For Paid Marketing
It is commonly said that Paid Marketing is the FASTEST way to get website traffic.
PERIOD.
I define Paid Marketing as the marketing technique like the name, where you pay
for exposure or traffic. It is the quickest way to be on page one of any keyword
phrase you want in a matter of minutes with Google AdWords. However, the minute
you stop buying these clicks from Google your advertising stops.
There are many ways to get started in Paid Marketing with a small budget. These
can be useful in getting things rolling while you re planting seeds in your chosen
areas of promotion. I have discovered as Marketers mature, Paid Marketing is always
part of their mix.
For the purpose of this article, I will touch on the first three paid marketing
strategies now utilized on the Internet to drive traffic to a website, capture page with
the sole purpose of making a sale or building a list to sell to later.
The first is AdWords, or Google Search Engine Marketing. Their names have become
so common that we sometimes use them to refer to paid marketing, just like
Kleenex is a soft facial tissue yet we use the brand name when referring to any
brand of tissue. AdWords and Google are brand names, but since they are the major
players we refer to the whole strategy by their names. Actually, more accurately we
should call it Pay Per Click Advertising (Google, Yahoo, MSN Others). Also known
as Pay Per Ranking, Pay Per Placement, Pay Per Position or Cost Per Click, this
strategy enables you

hence the key dimensions of manufacturing performance can be defined in terms of
quality, delivery speed, delivery reliability, price (cost) and flexibility. Literally,
performance is the process of quantifying action, where measurement is the process of
quantification and action leads to performance. According to the marketing
perspective, organizations achieve their goals by satisfying their customers with
greater efficiency and effectiveness than their competitors (kotler, 1984). The terms
efficiency and effectiveness are used precisely in this context. Effectiveness refers to
the extent to which customer requirements are met, while efficiency is a measure of
how economically the firm s resources are utilized when providing a given level of
customer satisfaction. This is an important point because it does not only identify two
fundamental dimensions of performance, but also highlights the fact that there can be
internal as well as external reasons for pursuing
The Museum Of Outdoor Arts
John Madden and his daughter, Cynthia Madden Leitner founded the Museum of
Outdoor Arts (MOA) in 1981. When the museum first opened, there were nineteen
art acquisitions on display, all public outdoor sculptures, establishing the mission
statement of making art a part of everyday life. The first building the MOA offices
resided in was Orchard Falls in Greenwood Village; since then, the museum moved
four or five times within the Arapahoe county. Currently, the Museum of Outdoor
Arts occupies a space in the Englewood Civic Center on the second floor across
from the courts. In 2000, MOA moved from Greenwood Village to Englewood,
incorporating indoor galleries, offices, and a workshop studio into the new location.
Five to six staff members run the museum, hiring interns and independent
contractors as needed. A board of trustees and an advisory committee guide the
policies of the museum and make legal decisions. The board of trustees has four
members consisting of the President of the Board, the Vice President, the Treasurer,
and the Secretary, while the advisory committee has eight members. The museum
curates and manages over 200 art pieces within its collection. The museum acquires
at least one new art piece a year to exhibit in one of the public locations the museum
manages. Marjorie Park in Greenwood Village and the Englewood Civic Center
Sculpture Garden are the two main sites for MOA to exhibit acquisitions and large
pieces from the collection. Marjorie Park, formally
The Reasons Behind Police s Inability To Catch Jack The...
The Reasons Behind Police s Inability To Catch Jack The Ripper
Jack The Ripper was never caught, and his identity remains a mystery to this day.
The police were unable to catch Jack The Ripper and solve the mystery of the Whit
Chapel murders because of several reasons.
The first reason is the police themselves. In London, there were two police forces.
The Metropolitan police and the City Of London police. The murders took place in
both of the jurisdictions. The police forces each had separate investigations going on
and they did not share evidence or information with each other. This hampered their
investigations because a vital clue being held by one police force may have linked in
with evidence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Vital clues that could have led to the capture of Jack The Ripperwere overlooked.
The CID, who were set up to investigate crimes like this, had only just been set up.
They had very little experience of dealing with a serial killer, as this was the first
one in the whole country. Because of this they did not know how to deal with the
murders and how to catch Jack The Ripper and made mistakes that led to his escape.
The police tried using undercover officers as bait. However, because there were no
women on the force, men dressed up like women but this failed completely as the
disguises were very poor.
The police interviewed many witnesses over and over again. Many of these were
hoaxes and the police wasted valuable time in doing this.
The police also tried training bloodhounds in following the scent of Jack The
Ripper, however this idea was soon abandoned as the dogs would not have been able
to follow just one scent in an area that was full of different smells.
The police also printed all the letters that were sent to them. This would have led to
a widespread panic and would have made it harder to keep the murders undercover.
They also took no heed to the warnings sent in the letters about the next victim,
which led the killer being able to kill easily again.

London Fog In The 18th Century
On December 5th, 1952, London began to go through its I want to resemble a post
apocalyptic city phase. Smog shrouded the entire city in it s smothering blanket, and
many were hospitalized because of the deadly illnesses they contracted. Others were
not as fortunate and turned into one more number on the steadily increasing deathtoll.
Much harm was inflicted onto both the people and environment of London during the
worsening conditions of the days that followed the first, and a lesson was learned the
hard way.
THE STORY The London Smogwas an evitable disaster but the problem was that
no one knew that they were bringing it on. London s air conditions had been bad
since the 1200 s and they just started to get worse in the 1600 s. In the year of 1952,
December, the weather was significantly colder than previous winters and that led to
the burning of more coal in fireplaces around houses in London. Back then, coal was
very low quality and sulphurous, thus, many sulphur dioxides were released into the
air. Along with the toxins, there was an anticyclone which caused cooler weather and
fog began to form throughout the city. The fog, chimney smoke, vehicle exhaust
gases and sulphur dioxides all mixed together to create a very dangerous smog. By
the time the people of London realised they needed to slow down the rate at which ...

Upon having this epiphany, new regulations were introduced to the city of London
in the form of the Clean Air Act of 1956 . The act included a new set of rules
stating that there would now be certain smoke control areas only where they would
be allowed to burn only smokeless fuels. Along with this, London started to make an
attempt at reducing smoke pollution and sulphur dioxides by using higher quality
coals, electricity or gas. They also made plans to make the chimneys taller and
relocate some of the power
Value And Reliability Of DNA In The Criminal Justice
System
5. Conclusion
It is well understood that DNA is useful in the criminal justice system, whether it is
rape and murder case to prove paternity for the sake of civil cases or the identity of
the missing person. The value and reliability of DNA is manifested in science and
justice because DNA took part to help and facilitate the criminal proceedings.
However, the DNA used also the risk of reliability when it is created by an act of
false police collected evidence from the crime scene. The police officer must protect
and recognize the crime scene.
The DNA evidence is evidence that has weight and importance. Meanwhile, it is
possible to question it as well. The judge has a duty to weigh the DNA evidence by
relevance to the issue in dispute and the
Chinese Culture Paper
Chinese Culture and How It Relates to Nursing Care
Understanding what culture is and how it affects the nursing practice is essential to
ensure the best possible and appropriate care is given. All cultures are different, and
what may be acceptable for one could be an insult to another. Potter and Perry (2017)
define culture as being associated with norms, values, and traditions passed down
through generations (p. 102). However, this is not the only definition since there are
many different views on what culture entails. Because of the vastness of cultural
groups, it is important that nurses have cultural competence, a good grasp of the
patient s specific cultural needs and beliefs, and the ability to alter their day to day
routine to achieve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
TCM practitioners look for underlying imbalances and disharmonies behind an
illness to try and treat the patient, instead of just the disease ( Traditional Chinese
Medicine, 2017). Chinese practices, such as acupuncture and herbal treatments,
have become very popular in the Western world over the last few decades. These
practices are derived from the beliefs of Qi (pronounced chee) and Yin and Yang,
which involve energy and balance. Qi, or life energy, is a central belief in TCM
and is believed to flow through a number of channels, or meridians, throughout the
body ( Traditional Chinese Medicine, 2017). The meridians are different organ
systems in the body, and are categorized into yin organs and yang organs. The
terms yin and yang are derived from the Chinese belief that all things have two
aspects... and that ...a balance of yin and yang are necessary for health (
Traditional Chinese Medicine, 2017). Essentially, the relationship of yin and yang
is like two sides of the same coin; opposite, but they balance each other out. Yin is
associated with qualities that are feminine, dark, passive, and usually symbolized by
earth or water, while yang is associated with qualities that are masculine, light,
active, and usually symbolized by air or fire ( Traditional Chinese Medicine, 2017).
These beliefs are what drive TCM and must be understood
Michelangelo s Analyzation Of The Creation Of Adam
The Creation of Adam
In this paper, you will read my analyzation of The Creation of Adam painted by
Michelangelo. The painting is located on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in
Vatican City, Rome, Italy, it is in the center of the chapel surrounded by many other
paintings. The Sistine Chapel was built in 1473 but the paintings on the ceiling did
not begin until 1508 and was not finished until about four years later in 1512. You
will read about what some writers thought about The Creation of Adam coming
from, Art a History of Painting Sculpture Architecture by F. Hartt, Arts Ideas by W.
Fleming, Gardner s Art Through the Ages by F. Kleiner, and A History of Western
Art by L. S. Adams. Finally, you will read about which of the four writers I
preferred and why I preferred them over the others.
The first writer I will review is Fredrick Hartt he wrote, Art a History of Painting
Sculpture Architecture. Hartt is kind of surprised to see that The Creation of Adam
isn t like any of the other Creation scenes from the Book of Genesis because rather
than standing on earth, the Lord is floating in the heavens. The Lord is stretching out
his hand, reaching his pointer finger forward to connect with the extended finger of
Adam who is on the barren ground waiting to be charged with energy. Hartt mentions
that Michelangelo s angels are wingless, Hartt believes they are wingless because
Michelangelo did not want to violate the beauty of the human body. Hartt later
mentions that Adam s
Erikson Research Paper
Writing Assignment two: Theories Paper The psychologist Eric Erikson (1902 1904),
was Freud s student and one of the brightest and he became known for the human
development theories. Erikson created eight human s development stages. Those
stages are: trust vs. mistrust, autonomy vs. shame and doubt, initiative vs. guilt,
industry vs. inferiority, identity vs. role confusion, intimacy vs. isolation, generativity
vs. stagnation, and integrity vs. despair. These development theories are part of
everyone s life from the time they are born to the end of life. As noticed on the
theories, they have two oppositions which, usually, individuals debate within
themselves between those theories. Also, the first five stages of the eight stages of

This is the stage that Erikson stresses that adolescents negotiating the complexities
of finding one s own identity is the primary task in adolescence. At this stage,
children become adolescents who try to figure out their personality and how they
will fit to society. This is the stage after childhood and the body is changing within
hormones. According to Berger (2014), psychosocial development during
adolescence is often considered the search for self understanding. Their personality
changes back and forth as they try to differ from others and if they do not establish
a final identity, they become confused about themselves. Intimacy versus isolation is
the sixth stage of psychosocial development. This is the time when people look for
formal relationships and tend to debate whether they will be loved or will be lonely.
Dunkel and Sefcek (2009) stress that this stage represents the ability to share with and
commit to another, most often in the form of romantic relationships. The
psychosocial strength that can be gained in the sixth stage is love. In this case, if
love is not gained, the individual might become isolated and depressed. Erikson

How Did Giotto Impact The Renaissance
Giotto, Cimabue, Donatello, Mossaccio....these are a few artists of the Renaissance
that impacted the era. With these artists a cult of genius began in the Renaissance.
There was the Age of Exploration when Columbus discovered America in 1492, as
well as Magellan s and other Europeans discoveries around areas of Africa. The
African slave trade fueled European Renaissance. There were several works that
helped establish the era such as the Arenal Chapels at Pagua which was a
dramatization of Jesus Christ with angles flying overhead, a three dimensional scene
because of the figures standing in different directions, painted by Giotto.
But a whole century passed before someone came and surpassed the infamous Giotto.

In Tribute Mary , Massaccio utilized the space to unify the elements in the space,
better known as one point perspective. He utilized perspective to be able to repeat a
scene. This showed that it was possible for artists to replicate scenes and aspects of
them through perspective.
There were several individuals that helped revive and restore different aspects of this
era. Fra Angelico, a notorious priest and talented artist helped to bridge the Gothic
Age to the Renaissance. Botticelli, a painter, helped to revive classicism with bold
realistic representation and mythology of ancient Rome and Greece with his work,
The Birth of Venus . Venus was born from seafoam, although some believe she could
ve been born from the rib of Zeus. Some see the painting as the rebirth of Aphrodite.
During the Renaissance, Florence was seen as the most affluent and powerful city
in Italy, and Europe at the time with politics, and art. Donatello produced one of the
first free standing sculptures since the Renaissance. These sculptures were relief
objects because before, Romans weren t allowed to worship them because they were
seen as heathens. One of his well known sculptures is of David, the boy who killed
Goliath with his slingshot.
The Renaissance was known as a time of competition like with Ghiberti, who won the

Pissarro
By 1880 the Impressionist idiom had been fully developed and Pissarro, in his
constant quest for new forms of discipline and inspiration, turned his attention to
drawing. The present work is an iconic example from the artist s most prolific
decade of graphic output; from 1880 to 1890 he would produce nearly three quarters
of his graphic oeuvre, using his drawings as a tool to explore form and line while
incorporating Neo Impressionist techniques into his painted work.
Les Glaneuses (The Gleaners) is a compendium of Pissarro s treatment of pastoral
life, relating directly to the seminal painting of the same name (1887 1889). While
the painted work is Neo Impressionist in its treatment of tone, its texture is made up
of a discrete series of dots, dashes and commas, anticipating that Pissarro would soon
abandon the common aesthetic doctrine outlined by Seurat and Signac (see fig. 1). ...

From the sediments found on the lake bed of Peten of Guatemala, evidence that these
early agriculturalists grew maize, fruits, cacao and a selection of roots, though they

The middle period of the Preclassic Maya civilisation was a time of rapid

The Problem With Agriculture System
Abstract: Agriculture produces an abundance of data in both public and private
domains. This data can be used to gain profit in agriculture as well as in other fields
like ecology, environment, and business. The problem with agriculture system is how
to discover additional information (insight) from agriculturehistorical (precision) data
to increase agriculture production and distribution system. So to increase production
and distribution system we use big data approach. Big data analytics in agriculture
application provide a new insight to give advance weather decisions, improve yield
productivity and avoid unnecessary cost related to harvesting, use of pesticide and
fertilizers. The framework is capable of handling unstructured data as well as
structured data.

Intelligent Transmission And Distribution Of Smart Grid...
Intelligent Transmission Distribution System in Smart Grid Technology
Hrishikesh Ganesh Divekar
New Jersey Institute of Technology
Abstract: Smart grid technology is the combination of existing electrical architecture
i.e power generation, switchgear, power systems and digital technologies which
provides smart, efficient, reliable and cost effective ways to distribute electricity. It
makes optimal use of power by monitoring, analysis, control, and provides flexible
distribution to maximize the throughput of the electrical system.
The research paper explores the delivery and distribution of power using smart grid
technology. As delivery is the important aspect after generation, for efficient
transmission of power substation automation, outage restoration and power system
analysis plays important role. The paper focuses on distributive approach and its
effective ways which will reduce the power leakage, which generally takes place
during transmission. It also explains working of various industrial and commercial
applications which uses smart grid technology i.e electrical appliances, vehicles
running using renewable source.
I.INTRODUCTION
A smart grid refers to a modernized electricity network that monitors, protects, and
optimizes the operation of its interconnected elements .The electrical sector is set to
make the changes from a centralized, producer controlled network to one that is less
centralized and more consumer based. The transformation to a smarter grid
the roman empire is the greatest civilization of all time
The Roman Empire was the period of time after the Roman Republic and before the
Byzantine Empire from 29 B.C. to A.D. 476. It was the highest point of Roman
civilization, greater than any prior empires and towers over even the empires after it;
it triumphed over the world .
The Roman Republic was what built up the foundation for the Roman Empire. During
the Republic, a small group of people started from scratch and developed their own
systems, which later develops into the Roman Empire. The strong leaders of the
Republic had conquered much land and people for Rome. The Roman Republic thus
ignites Roman civilization, which leads on to the second step the Roman Empire.

Because Augustus encouraged trade, many roads and highways were built for
convenient traveling. Trading made easier increased trade, which boosted Roman
economy even more.
The Greek Empire occurred before the Romans and when compared to the Roman
Empire, seems to be modest, not as great. The Greeks did not have as much
conquered lands, which lessens their power. What they did have conquered was
divided into parts amongst different rulers, who were constantly at war with each
other, lacking the peace that Pax Romana had. The conquered Greek lands did not
have a chance to civilize as one great empire as the Romans had.
The Byzantine Empire followed the Roman Empire, and it, also, seems meager in
comparison. It had evolved from the Roman Empire, and because it was in the late
stage that it was in, land had been lost, so in terms of size, the Roman Empire was
superior to the Byzantine. The empire wasn t strong, either. At the start, the first ruler,
Justinian, attempted to reconquer Roman lands, but in doing so, left his own land in
ruins, and his conquests were lost right after his death. The Empire faced many
enemies and was threatened constantly by them. Eventually, all land was lost except
for the Constantinople, the rich and powerful capital city, and the land surrounding it.
As can be seen, the Roman Empire was great for its time in more ways that one, with
its undefeatable strength and size . It was greater than the empires before it
Sex Offender Recidivism Statistics
Sex crimes are a major problem in the United States, especially in certain states
such as California. Legislators have passed numerous laws to try to reduce the
number of victims. One of the measurements taken to reduce recidivism is the sex
offender registry, which is a system designed to keep track of those convicted of a
sex offense. There are websites now available that contain the sex offenders name,

and to reduce recidivism. The sex registry was set up with good intentions; however
over the years more and more people are on the list without fitting the definition of a
sex offender, making the registry unfair and ineffective. Sex offender registry... Show

These offenders are people who had consensual sexual relationships with a minor.
Sometimes the offender is also a minor, but is older than the other partner. The
older person is then charged with statutory rape and are forced to register as a sex
offender even though there was no force used. This law is in place to prevent older
persons from taking advantage of a minor; however, this is completely unfair,
especially if the offender is also a minor. Some opponents might say that Romeo
and Juliet offenders should be on the registry because their sole purpose is to take
advantage of minor to meet their needs. This is true and all Romeo and Juliet
offenders should pay for the offense in some way; however, their names should not
be on the registry and definitely not for life. Alternatives penalties include paying a
fine, doing community service, going to counseling, and have the their name on
the registry for a short term if the age gap is greater than five years or if the offense
is committed more than once. For most offenders, these are foolish mistakes that
they made in their teenage years, and therefore shouldn t pay for it all their life. In
addition, there are couples who are happily married even though there is an age gap
of five or seven
What Are The Potential Barriers To Equality And Inclusion
1.2 Analyse the potential effects of barriers to equality and inclusion in own area of
responsibility
Due to the amount of practices that can be sourced to implement into the working
environment there are a number of barriers that can occur, these can be put into
categories:
Personal
These barriers relate to individuals having differing personalities, if someone has lack
of self esteem or poor interpersonal interactions and communication it can affect the
way they treat others. They may be unaware of how to support someone with needs
that are new to them or struggle to identify resources needed to support a client. If
staff are unable to provide information to the residents or carry out tasks they may
need additional training to gather greater knowledge on equality, diversity and
inclusion; when staff are unable to acknowledge differences it can mean that
individuals are discriminated against unintentionally. This would then have an impact
on relationships and rapport built between staff and clients and discourage the
residents to work with the staff if they believe they are not being understood or their
needs are not being met, this can have further impact on their mental health and
wellbeing, therefore it is crucial that staff and management work alongside residents
and their families or friends to ensure that their voice is heard especially when
considering person centred care, as many vulnerable adults may not have the capacity
to challenge discrimination.
Westward Expansion
The United States encouraged settlement in the West during and after the Civil
War. The Homestead Act of 1862 gave families up to 160 acres of land if they
agreed to live on it for five years. The completion of the railroads to the West
following the Civil War opened vast areas of the region to settlement and economic
development. White settlers from the East poured across the Mississippi to mine,
farm, and ranch. African American settlers also came West from the Deep South,
convinced by promoters of all black Western towns that prosperity could be found
there. Chinese railroad workers further added to the diversity of the region s
population.
Westward expansion was especially important in the Reconstruction Era that followed
the Civil War. Additionally, it contributed to the conflagration of the many issues that
ignited the Civil War; as the United States gained more territory, the question of
whether the new states would be free soil or slave holding states was hotly debated.
After the Civil War, the West offered inspiration to citizens hopeful of taking part in
and expanding the ideals of a free labor society. As the Republican party and special
interests groups desired a more active government, those who were opposed saw the
West as a place untouched by government authority. It was America in its most raw,
idealist form.
Settlement from the East transformed the Great Plains. The huge herds of American
bison that roamed the plains were virtually wiped out, and
Education In Special Education
Special education is student centered where the needs of the student come before the
disability of the student. Special education teachers create their classroom and
instruction based on who their students are and what services they need in order to
be successful in their learning. Merriam Webster (2015) defines special educationas
classrooms and instruction designed for students with special needs. Special education
is a service provided by public schools to students who require additional support
through specialized instruction, class materials, and/or changes in their learning
environment in order for them to meet their learning objectives.
Special education teachers maintain challenging expectations for individuals with
exceptionalities to develop the highest possible learning outcomes and quality of life
potential in ways that respect their dignity, culture, language, and background. Special
education allows students to receive personalized instruction in their least restrictive
learning environment to their specific needs based on their disabilities. Students with
disabilities who receive their education through special education services are
equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to become successful in their future
education or careers after high school. Teaching students who require additional
support due to their disabilities in order to learn the general curriculum involve
teachers to facilitate differentiation instruction throughout the classroom.
Institutionalize Animal Testing
Animal experimentation has been at the forefront of brain research for decades. Rats,
mice, rabbits, dogs, pigs, and monkeys are all used to develop drugs and treatments to
benefit humans. Even though animal brains do not precisely mimic the biology of
the human brain, their brains have many of the same basic structures and functions.
Animal research, that is, the use of animals as experimental subjects in biomedical
and behavioural fields of learning, has been institutionalised on the basis of two key
assumptions, one factual and one moral. The factual assumption is that animal
research provides a reliable basis for predicting the effects of drugs, products and
yield significant scientific conclusions and medical benefits for society. The... Show

Applied research focuses on answering a question of practical importance, such as
finding a cure for a disease. Examples of applied research include testing, breeding,
defence research, and toxicology, including cosmetics testing. Basic or pure
research investigates how organisms behave, develop, and function. Those
opposed to animal testing object that basic or pure research has little or no
practical purpose, but researchers argue that it forms the necessary basis for the
development of applied research. It is difficult to predict when and what types of
basic research will lead to eventual applications however much of it eventually does,
sometimes in areas far removed from the original research (Ferdowsian Gluck,
2015). All living things share certain characteristics, and basic research on one
organism often produces knowledge that applies to many other organisms. Both basic
and applied research using animals are subject to a number of safeguards that make it
very unlikely that the research will be unnecessary or poorly done. Before an
experiment using a vertebrate animal is carried out, the protocol for that experiment
must be reviewed by an institutional committee that includes a veterinarian and a
member of the public, and during the research the animal s health and care are
monitored regularly. Researchers require healthy animals for study in science and
medicine, because unhealthy animals could
The Causes Of Sexual Orientation And Homosexuality
Charles Darwin famously said, We do not even in the least know the final cause of
sexuality. The whole subject is hidden in darkness (Ryu). Since the beginning of time,
there have been questions revolving around the topic of sexual orientation. Within the
past few decades, homosexuality is becoming more mainstream and socially
acceptable as more people begin to examine their gender identity and sexual
preferences. Scientists researched to determine the cause of sexual orientation;
however, two opposing sides have formed around the issue: nature (inherited genes
and biology) versus nurture (the environment). Proponents of nature argue sexual
orientation is biological and genetic; whereas proponents of nurture argue sexual
orientation is non biological, environmental, and socially constructed.
According to the American Psychological Association, sexual orientation is not a
choice; instead ...it emerges from most people in early adolescence with no prior
sexual experience ( Answers to Your Questions About Sexual Orientation and
Homosexuality ). Despite this, social theorists and other branches of scientists argue
an individual s upbringing directly impacts their sexual orientation. Many proponents
of nurture are religiously motivated to establish the morality behind sexual
orientation. However, the purpose of this essay is to examine and develop a deeper
understanding of the theories surrounding the cause of sexual orientation. When
combining all four non adaptive,
Jennifer s Essay Relating To The Political Climate (WKU)
Jennifer, your essay really stood out to me because of the unique approach you
took. When I heard political climate, being the political science major I am, and the
truthfully not very creative thinker, I just immediately started talking about
politics. Yet, you managed to dive into the topic of exclusivity and relate that to
the political climate, and I must say, I agree with you. I am one of those students
who did attend H4, and though I m not necessarily still friends with everyone I met
there, I did make one friendship there that has greatly impacted my time at WKU.
Much like you, I struggled to find the place where I fit, but one day, someone I met
at H4 got back in touch with me. This someone was my friend Jacob who talked
about his
Hell-Heaven and The Yellow Wallpaper
In the short stories Hell Heaven by Jhumpa Lahiri and The Yellow Wallpaper by
Charlotte Perkins Gilman both stories convey similar theme. Gilman s short story,
The Yellow Wallpaper, tells a story of a mentally unstable wife, while Lahiri s short
story, Hell Heaven, informs us about a mother and daughters story from the
perspective of her daughter. The characters from both stories come from different
cultures but one thing they both have in common is their roles. They marry with the
purpose of serving for household duties such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, and
taking care of children if they have any. Also lets not forget another job they have is
keeping the husband satisfied and happy! In both stories the marriages are in a way
similar to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although they are both having trouble with the marriage they are in they cope with it
differently. In The Yellow Book, the wife is fighting mentally with herself telling
herself over and over that she is not crazy. I ve got out at last, [...] in spite of you
and Jane. And I ve pulled off most of the wallpaper, so you can t put me back as
much as she says that she is not free because she is still confined in the same room
and most readers can assume that her mental condition only got worse from time to
time of being stuck inside that room staring at the hideous wallpaper where she
pictured herself in. She not only grows to like it, but goes so far as to become, in
her mind, literally one with it. Her relationship with the wallpaper, in part, reflects
Lacan s mirror stage, albeit in an unusual, psychotic way. The mirror stage
manufactures for the subject [...] the succession of fantasies that extends from a
fragmented body image to a form of its totality (Lacan 4). As stated by the author
Suess, Barbara says that unknown crazy wife from the short story was not only a
piece of wallpaper that she would see but it was something she saw herself
becoming and could see herself in it but by tearing that wallpaper down she, unlike
the others she saw stuck in it, was free and did not have to
Family Guy Character Analysis
Family Guy, an Analytical Review by Caleb Packard
I am not allowed to watch much TV. Therefore, I must be super selective about what
I watch. While I could waste a lot of time watching Duck Dynasty, when it comes to
choosing a show, Family Guy is my top selection. I think the popular cartoon comedy
Family Guy, written by Seth MacFarlane, is one of the best shows still running today.
Among currently running animated sitcoms, there are a few that have current
connections to people and events. Most famous of this genre of shows are South
Park and Family Guy. Unlike South Park, which follows a group of friends at
school, Family Guy is about a family. The Griffin family consists of parents Peter
and Lois, their children Chris, Meg, Stewie, and the family dog, Brian. Instead of
showcasing the adventures of an individual struggling to balance impulses and
responsibilities, Family Guy focuses on the dynamics created by family members
who are extreme in their personality traits and very different from each other. Peter,
the father, is impulsive, incompetent, and easily excitable. Lois is the stereotypical
responsible mother and wife. Meg is a classic case of a teenage girl struggling to fit
in at high school. Chris is your average awkward and immature teenage boy. Stewie,
the precocious baby, is by far the smartest and most cunning of the cast. Interestingly,
the screenwriters often drop hints that he is gay. He is eager to assume adult
responsibilities and motivated to have
Possible Causes Of Ocean Pollution
Ocean pollution is caused by many factors where society is the major contributor to
this problem. The causes are Gyres, Oil Spills and Land Runoffs. In order to keep
our oceans clean we should control the amount of trash that is produced.
Gyres
When something so huge and beautiful like the ocean is threatened by the Garbage
Patch it is important to protect it. There is one thing that connects everyone, no
matter where they are at, which is the ocean. The ocean is not only home to animals,
but it is also a home for surfers and people around the world. The ocean makes 75
percent of the earth.
The Garbage Patch of the Pacific Ocean contains marine debris which is solid
material that is manufactured by humans and ends up in the ocean either ... Show

I did not need all the chapters in the book or the topics. I only read and used the
ones I needed for my project on ocean pollution. The author s purpose is to inform
readers about ways the ocean is threatened and ways it can be prevented. Personally,
I read more about the impact that society has on marine mammals and problems that
people do not want to talk about. The author did not really have a thesis, is was
more informational and she used a lot of citings. All of her chapters contain a
bibliography at the end since she uses information from other sources. However, she
still uses her own thinking, but does not persuade the

Even though the United States and the Philippines is vastly different in many areas, comparing cities will give as a wider perspective of the comparisons and differences between the cityof Laoag and of Davis. Both cities have unique characteristic that sets both cities widely similar and different. In term of educational opportunities, Laoag city and Davis offers a high quality education but yet they are both different in standards and the mindset of students. The United States of America has influenced the educational system of the Philippines. Laoag city and Davis California are both sites of the most prestigious colleges on their own countries. Namely, The University of California, Davis (UC Davis) is located at Davis California where it is one of the nine University California campuses in California while Laoag sites three different colleges, the Mariano Marcus State Univeristy (MMSU), ... Students are motivated to graduate and pursue their degree. Yet there is a big difference of the mindset of students from my hometown and here at Davis. More students back in my hometown are more motivated to learn and that they would attend classes on a Saturday than a fraction of the students here at UC Davis who even skips regular school day classes and go to parties on week ends. The reasons behind this is that education in my hometown and all over the Philippines is based on who can afford to pay in their pocket because the government doesn t give help to students. In contrast to the US where education is right not a privilege, in which the government helps less fortunate students to go to
  • 3. A Recommendation For Worldwide Governance Recommendation for Worldwide Governance Due to the global implications of some decisions made by Volkswagen, governing boards should strengthen their impact on worldwide automakers by working in conjunction with other countries in enforcing needed global regulations. If the impact of a product is global, then governance leadership of that product should also be at a global scale. Collaboration may never be achieved globally, but major consuming countries working in conjunction to enforce needed regulations, can make the same impact. In the case of the VW emission scandal, several countries are assisting in holding Volkswagen accountable but each country is performing their own investigation and requiring Volkswagen to correct the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If standards are uniform, it would allow for concentrated research and development of vehicles that would benefit the world. Understanding that not all nations will participate, the most influential and largest consuming nations will be empowered by the benefit of consolidated and uniform rules. Imposing Worldwide Environmental Penalties If emission standards and other vehicle operating regulations are globalized, then the penalties implied on car makers should also be globalized. The impact would be immediately greater, making compliance so much more important. Violations, such as the emission deception, do impact the entire world, therefore, penalties should also be at a higher unified level to assist with resolution and re standardization when needed. A global voice will be much more powerful, moreover, the additional worldwide penalties would not eliminate or reduce each individual countries penalties. Penalties would have to be closely monitored so as not to cripple a company overall. Recommendations for Consumer Protection Governing boards must empower consumers with needed tools to make safer business decisions. If tools are given to the consumer to protect their purchases from car makers, consumers would more comfortably recover from product issues and continue purchasing. For some consumers, the impact of the VW deception will cause loss of funds,
  • 4. The First Phase Of The Second World War Throughout the first phase of the Second World War in Europe, Germany sought to avoid a long war. Its strategy was to win a decisive victory over their opponents with a series of short campaigns. Germany quickly took control of most of Europe and was victorious for more than two years with the Blitzkrieg (lightning war). This new military tactics required the concentration of a powerful set of offensive forces (tanks, aircrafts and artillery) on a narrow front. By practicing a breach in the enemy defenses, these forces allowed the armored divisions to quickly penetrate and maneuver freely behind enemy lines, disrupting their defenses. The German Air Force prevented the enemy to resupply, to redeploy its forces efficiently and to send reinforcements to close the breaches that occurred in his front. The German forces were thus able to encircle the enemy and force him to surrender. In June 1941, the German forces invaded the Soviet Union. The blitzkrieg seemed at first to be a success. Soviet forces retreated over 900 km to the gates of Moscow, suffering huge losses. However, it was on the Soviet territory that the blitzkrieg showed its limits. In this context, the amelioration of the allied forces readiness after the two first years of the war, and the vulnerability of the blitzkrieg to logistics and qualified manpower, reduced greatly its success after 1941. The adaptation of new defensive tactics by the allies has greatly contributed to the failure of the blitzkrieg.
  • 5. 2.2 Harm-Reduction Analysis 2.2Harm reduction perspective The other perspective moves away from drug control approaches that criminalize drug users to evidence based strategies that treat addiction as a chronic medical disease. The harm reduction perspective begins with the assumption that it is not reasonable to assume that individuals make healthy decisions. Examples of this approach include NSEPs, Opioid agonist therapy, behavioral interactions, among others. Proponents of this approach hold that those trapped in dangerous behaviors often are unable and/or are unwilling to break free of them, and should be at least enabled to continue these behaviors in a less harmful manner (Viahov et al, 2001). Hence, treating drug dependency as illness absolves drug users of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What about the remaining 19 states, one may ask? Those states who excluded themselves from this program are governed by political ideologies like Mike Pence, former governor of Indiana, now the Vice President of US. Early state adopters like Washington (1988) and New York (1992) have seen the rates of injection related HIV infection declining as did other states that proceeded to implement NSEPs (Rich Adashi, 2015). With this in mind, what happened in Indiana was predictable and

Jeremy, from Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life by Wendy Mass, he often asks that question throughout his journey to open the box in the novel. In Summer Day by Mary Frye, she asks about the world and many questions that have currently no answers. Mass and Frye convey the message of life is short and every moment should be lived to the fullest through the use of repetition of rhetorical questions. Mass and Frye both get their shared theme of life is short and every moment should be enjoyed, through using rhetorical questions. Mass highlights one section of Jeremy s dad s letter when, I thought, what if this woman was right? If I only had 4O years, how many more times would I eat chocolate cake? (Turned out to
  • 9. We Must Regain Our Lost Civil Liberties Essay With our nation s tragedy of September 11, 2001, arose a deeply shaken America, shocked by the extent of the cruelty. An act of terrorism of that magnitude had never been seen before in our country. Patriots quickly came together, supporting the president to pass legislation, known as the USA Patriot Act, to tackle internal and external threats to this nation. The debate ensued, focused on which types of surveillance technology should or shouldn t be allowed for arresting terrorists. However, the question remains as to how these devices are going to be used, and how personally are those who use them held accountable. The purpose of this paper is to confirm that the proposed monitoring and archiving of users information on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the laws included in the Patriot Act is the Electronic Communications Privacy Act or ECPA. The ECPA is used to monitor and retain information while intercepting ....email and other electronic communications... and specifies the government s access to this type of information (The USA Patriot Act, 2005, p.4). One difference between the ECPA and other laws included in this Act is probable cause. The ECPA does not mandate probable cause, thus posing serious privacy violations with the use of trap and trace devices. According to Gerdes, in the book, The Patriot Act, a trap and trace device is described as a device which captures the incoming electronic or other impulses which identify the originating number of an instrument or device from which a wire or electronic communication was transmitted (Gerdes, 2005, p.119). The trap and trace information, which is tailored to electronic communication, can only be relevant during court proceedings when an attorney provides a judicial certification before the installation (The USA Patriot Act, 2005, p. 5). According to the ACLU, the trap and trace devices monitor all electronic communication and to perform this type of surveillance the government only needs to show probable cause (National Security, n.d.). The issue of our privacy rights has definitely been influenced since 9/11, we have all been affected and at the height of all the terror and fear, our absent civil liberties simply went unnoticed.
  • 10. Brutus and his bad decisions and misfortunes Brutus: A Tragic Hero The Tragedy of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare depicts a tragic hero, or one who has high standing and causes his own downfall. The tragic hero is Brutus, and he makes multiple and ultimately fatal mistakes that lead to his enlightenment and then his death. Brutus death is the result of many misfortunes, including being herded into the conspiracy and thus aiding in the death of Caesar, hearing of the death of his loyal wife, and waging a war against Rome. This is a bad decision on his part because by allowing Antony to speak last, he has allowed Antony to use his words against him. As seen in the text, it is much easier to persuade when speaking last than when speaking first. After being chased out of Rome alongside Cassius, another misfortune is his fight with him over money problems. Brutus claims that Cassius has become greedy. He is furious that Cassius is not helping him even though they are allies. However, the money that Brutus wants is actually the money that Cassius is taking from the soldiers who buy their ranks. While he could just as easily do the same, he defines himself as too noble a person to do such a thing. Let me tell you, Cassius, you yourself/ Are much condemned to have an itching palm (966). Cassius is offended, and tells Brutus that he should be glad that they are allies. Brutus enlightenment occurs around the time he commits suicide. Right before his demise, with his final dying breath, he mentions Caesar to put him at ease. Farewell, good Strato Caesar, now be still; / I killed thee with half so good a will (997). There are many opinions as to what kind of character Brutus is. He seems to be a sympathetic character above all else. • 11. Android vs Iphone from Sam Costello for about.com article iPhone vs Android: Which smartphone should you buy? http://ipod.about.com/od/iphonevscompetitors/tp/Iphone Or Android which to buy.htm Hardware is the first place that the differences between the iPhone and Android become clear. Apple is the only company that makes iPhones, giving it extremely tight control over how the software and hardware work together. On the other hand, Google offers its Android software to many phone makers (Samsung, HTC, LG, and Motorola, among others, offer Android phones). As a result, Android phones vary quite a bit in size, weight, features, user experience, and quality. Apple offers users a single choice: what model of iPhone do you want (5, 4S or 4), not what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Add that to the battery intensive apps Android phones run (including some in the background that the user doesn t necessarily know are there), a charge every day (or less) isn t unheard of. If you re looking for the biggest screens available on smartphones, Android is your clear choice. It s not uncommon to find Android phones with 4.3 inch screens, and the HTC One X offers a 4.7 inch screen, while the Samsung Galaxy Note stretches the ruler at 5.3 inches. So, for sheer size, Android it is. While Apple long held to the 3.5 inch screen size, the iPhone 5 brings a 4 inch screen. However, instead of making the entire device proportionally bigger, and therefore a less comfortable fit in the hand, Apple made the screen taller, but not wider. This allows the phone to still be easily used with one hand. Besides that, the Retina Display technology gives the iPhone s screen much higher pixel density (how many pixels can fight in the same physical space; the more pixels the better the image) than many Android screens. Still, if it s raw size you re after, Android s the choice, but not by much. For the fastest wireless Internet experience, you have to go to Android. That s because for now only Android devices support true 4G LTE networking, the wireless data standard that is succeeding, and outspeeding, 3G. If you like to have a lot of choices, Android is your best bet. Just like there are many Android phones from many companies, you can also get
  • 12. An Analysis Of Weisman s The World Without Us The Power of Nature: Rhetorical Strategies in Weisman s The World Without Us: Unbuilding Our Homes In the book World Without Us, author Alan Weisman talks about what would happen to the natural and built environment we ve established if humans suddenly disappeared. In Chapter two, Unbuilding Our Home, Weisman effectively informs his readers of the total control that nature has on our society by describing the immediate effect it takes on our own homes. He forces the readers to recognize that we coexist with nature yet nature has the upper hand on man made objects. Weisman achieves this by targeting the readers emotions through description and personification and by providing insight that appeals to the reader s intellect of the future. In Chapter 2, Weisman walks us meticulously through the steps that lead inevitably to the complete destructionof almost every single part of our houses. The first and last enemy is water. Water sneaks in at the weak points of roofs, near the chimney. Mold begins to grow on wet wood; under the mold, threadlike filaments called hyphae are secreting enzymes that break cellulose and lignin down into fungi food. (page 16) The roof falls in. More water enters through the windows, some shattered when birds flew into them. The floor corrodes. Squirrels and lizards eat the drywall. Vinyl siding begins to crack as its plasticizers weaken. Even aluminum begins to break down, as salt eats it away. Steel gas pipes begin to rust away.

In my nightmare I had been walking down the aisle, wearing a stunning cream colored wedding dress trimmed in gold lace. The dress in which I do recall was quite lovely. Everyone in the church watched me as I smiled at everyone while four of my servants had held the train of my dress. Once I had made it to the front of the church the groom had become more visible to me. It had been King Francis. I had continued smiling at Francis as the priest had begun the ceremony. After a while, me and Francis had slid a golden ring on each others finger. Soon the priest had finished speaking and it was time for us to share a kiss. I had gladly leaned in and kissed him. It is generally known that the development of any religion is not smooth or through a single channel. However, the minute you stop buying these clicks from Google your advertising stops. There are many ways to get started in Paid Marketing with a small budget. These can be useful in getting things rolling while you re planting seeds in your chosen areas of promotion. I have discovered as Marketers mature, Paid Marketing is always part of their mix. For the purpose of this article, I will touch on the first three paid marketing strategies now utilized on the Internet to drive traffic to a website, capture page with the sole purpose of making a sale or building a list to sell to later. The first is AdWords, or Google Search Engine Marketing. Their names have become so common that we sometimes use them to refer to paid marketing, just like Kleenex is a soft facial tissue yet we use the brand name when referring to any brand of tissue. AdWords and Google are brand names, but since they are the major players we refer to the whole strategy by their names. Actually, more accurately we should call it Pay Per Click Advertising (Google, Yahoo, MSN Others). Also known as Pay Per Ranking, Pay Per Placement, Pay Per Position or Cost Per Click, this strategy enables you

Literally, performance is the process of quantifying action, where measurement is the process of quantification and action leads to performance. According to the marketing perspective, organizations achieve their goals by satisfying their customers with greater efficiency and effectiveness than their competitors (kotler, 1984). The terms efficiency and effectiveness are used precisely in this context. Effectiveness refers to the extent to which customer requirements are met, while efficiency is a measure of how economically the firm s resources are utilized when providing a given level of customer satisfaction. In London, there were two police forces. The Metropolitan police and the City Of London police. The murders took place in both of the jurisdictions. Because of this they did not know how to deal with the murders and how to catch Jack The Ripper and made mistakes that led to his escape. The police tried using undercover officers as bait. However, because there were no women on the force, men dressed up like women but this failed completely as the disguises were very poor. The police interviewed many witnesses over and over again. Many of these were hoaxes and the police wasted valuable time in doing this. The police also tried training bloodhounds in following the scent of Jack The Ripper, however this idea was soon abandoned as the dogs would not have been able to follow just one scent in an area that was full of different smells. The police also printed all the letters that were sent to them. This would have led to a widespread panic and would have made it harder to keep the murders undercover. They also took no heed to the warnings sent in the letters about the next victim, which led the killer being able to kill easily again. The note written on the wall was

Due to the chiefs ruling over the chiefdoms, they were able to control the economy, ensuring the public support of his ruling. There is evidence for these chiefdoms are found in the sites like: Tikal; Cahal Pech; and Santa Rita. These chiefdoms, ruled by the family and divine backed chiefs, were a direct cause of the rapid population
  • 37. Mt. Everest Earthquake The highest point on earth is the peak of Mt. Everest. Rising 29,035 feet above sea level, it is still constantly growing. This snow covered mountain was formed when the tectonic plates pushed together, as they still are today. Therefore Mt. Everest has had many earthquakes, but on April 27, 2015 one earthquakechanged everything. On this day Mt. Everest had an earthquake that was rated a 7.8 in magnitude. It flattened towns, knocked over buildings and created an avalanche that killed over 18 people. The avalanche swept through base camp, ripping tents to shreds and making a devastating scene. But the avalanche wasn t the only devastating obstacle of that day. During the 2015 tragedy on Mt. Everest people were stuck. They couldn t climb up or down. In addition to that, this lethal frozen river moves about 6 feet per day towards base camp, consequently you can only climb during the early hours of the morning while it is still very cold outside in hopes that it won t move. They can still topple over, cave in, and just about anything else unpredictable, even when it is well below the freezing point. After the 2014 and 2015 climbing expeditions on Mt. Even with all of the tragedies and complications the determination of the climbers proves truly amazing as the get ready for the 2016 climbing of Mt.
  • 38. The Problem With Agriculture System Abstract: Agriculture produces an abundance of data in both public and private domains. This data can be used to gain profit in agriculture as well as in other fields like ecology, environment, and business. The problem with agriculture system is how to discover additional information (insight) from agriculturehistorical (precision) data to increase agriculture production and distribution system. So to increase production and distribution system we use big data approach. Big data analytics in agriculture application provide a new insight to give advance weather decisions, improve yield productivity and avoid unnecessary cost related to harvesting, use of pesticide and fertilizers. The framework is capable of handling unstructured data as well as structured data. Keywords: Big Data; Computer Science; Data Systems; Data Analysis; Agriculture Data analytics. 1.INTRODUCTION Big Data in agriculture refers to the huge amount of data, generated in agricultural practice and measurement. The processing and management of huge data is a challenging task over traditional methodology and platforms. The processing of huge quantity of data needs pay new hardware and software platforms with tools and techniques. In agriculture, data is collected in the form of real time data, historical generated data, social media websites generated data and this collected data can be in any format either it is structured or unstructured form. As agriculture generates more data in the unstructured form
  • 39. Intelligent Transmission And Distribution Of Smart Grid... Intelligent Transmission Distribution System in Smart Grid Technology Hrishikesh Ganesh Divekar New Jersey Institute of Technology Abstract: Smart grid technology is the combination of existing electrical architecture i.e power generation, switchgear, power systems and digital technologies which provides smart, efficient, reliable and cost effective ways to distribute electricity. It makes optimal use of power by monitoring, analysis, control, and provides flexible distribution to maximize the throughput of the electrical system. The research paper explores the delivery and distribution of power using smart grid technology. As delivery is the important aspect after generation, for efficient transmission of power substation automation, outage restoration and power system analysis plays important role. The paper focuses on distributive approach and its effective ways which will reduce the power leakage, which generally takes place during transmission. It also explains working of various industrial and commercial applications which uses smart grid technology i.e electrical appliances, vehicles running using renewable source. I.INTRODUCTION A smart grid refers to a modernized electricity network that monitors, protects, and optimizes the operation of its interconnected elements .The electrical sector is set to make the changes from a centralized, producer controlled network to one that is less centralized and more consumer based. The transformation to a smarter grid
  • 40. the roman empire is the greatest civilization of all time The Roman Empire was the period of time after the Roman Republic and before the Byzantine Empire from 29 B.C. to A.D. 476. It was the highest point of Roman civilization, greater than any prior empires and towers over even the empires after it; it triumphed over the world . The Roman Republic was what built up the foundation for the Roman Empire. During the Republic, a small group of people started from scratch and developed their own systems, which later develops into the Roman Empire. The strong leaders of the Republic had conquered much land and people for Rome. The Roman Republic thus ignites Roman civilization, which leads on to the second step the Roman Empire. Because Augustus encouraged trade, many roads and highways were built for convenient traveling. Trading made easier increased trade, which boosted Roman economy even more. The Greek Empire occurred before the Romans and when compared to the Roman Empire, seems to be modest, not as great. The Greeks did not have as much conquered lands, which lessens their power. What they did have conquered was divided into parts amongst different rulers, who were constantly at war with each other, lacking the peace that Pax Romana had. The conquered Greek lands did not have a chance to civilize as one great empire as the Romans had. The Byzantine Empire followed the Roman Empire, and it, also, seems meager in comparison. It had evolved from the Roman Empire, and because it was in the late stage that it was in, land had been lost, so in terms of size, the Roman Empire was superior to the Byzantine. The empire wasn t strong, either. At the start, the first ruler, Justinian, attempted to reconquer Roman lands, but in doing so, left his own land in ruins, and his conquests were lost right after his death. The Empire faced many enemies and was threatened constantly by them. Eventually, all land was lost except for the Constantinople, the rich and powerful capital city, and the land surrounding it. As can be seen, the Roman Empire was great for its time in more ways that one, with its undefeatable strength and size . It was greater than the empires before it
  • 41. Sex Offender Recidivism Statistics Sex crimes are a major problem in the United States, especially in certain states such as California. Legislators have passed numerous laws to try to reduce the number of victims. One of the measurements taken to reduce recidivism is the sex offender registry, which is a system designed to keep track of those convicted of a sex offense. There are websites now available that contain the sex offenders name, address, and photograph. The registries main purpose is to prevent future sex crimes and to reduce recidivism. The sex registry was set up with good intentions; however over the years more and more people are on the list without fitting the definition of a sex offender, making the registry unfair and ineffective. Sometimes the offender is also a minor, but is older than the other partner. The older person is then charged with statutory rape and are forced to register as a sex offender even though there was no force used. This law is in place to prevent older persons from taking advantage of a minor; however, this is completely unfair, especially if the offender is also a minor. Some opponents might say that Romeo and Juliet offenders should be on the registry because their sole purpose is to take advantage of minor to meet their needs. This is true and all Romeo and Juliet offenders should pay for the offense in some way; however, their names should not be on the registry and definitely not for life. Alternatives penalties include paying a fine, doing community service, going to counseling, and have the their name on the registry for a short term if the age gap is greater than five years or if the offense is committed more than once. For most offenders, these are foolish mistakes that they made in their teenage years, and therefore shouldn t pay for it all their life. In addition, there are couples who are happily married even though there is an age gap of five or seven
  • 42. What Are The Potential Barriers To Equality And Inclusion 1.2 Analyse the potential effects of barriers to equality and inclusion in own area of responsibility Due to the amount of practices that can be sourced to implement into the working environment there are a number of barriers that can occur, these can be put into categories: Personal These barriers relate to individuals having differing personalities, if someone has lack of self esteem or poor interpersonal interactions and communication it can affect the way they treat others. They may be unaware of how to support someone with needs that are new to them or struggle to identify resources needed to support a client. If staff are unable to provide information to the residents or carry out tasks they may need additional training to gather greater knowledge on equality, diversity and inclusion; when staff are unable to acknowledge differences it can mean that individuals are discriminated against unintentionally. This would then have an impact on relationships and rapport built between staff and clients and discourage the residents to work with the staff if they believe they are not being understood or their needs are not being met, this can have further impact on their mental health and wellbeing, therefore it is crucial that staff and management work alongside residents and their families or friends to ensure that their voice is heard especially when considering person centred care, as many vulnerable adults may not have the capacity to challenge discrimination.
  • 43. Westward Expansion The United States encouraged settlement in the West during and after the Civil War. The Homestead Act of 1862 gave families up to 160 acres of land if they agreed to live on it for five years. The completion of the railroads to the West following the Civil War opened vast areas of the region to settlement and economic development. White settlers from the East poured across the Mississippi to mine, farm, and ranch. African American settlers also came West from the Deep South, convinced by promoters of all black Western towns that prosperity could be found there. Chinese railroad workers further added to the diversity of the region s population. Westward expansion was especially important in the Reconstruction Era that followed the Civil War. Additionally, it contributed to the conflagration of the many issues that ignited the Civil War; as the United States gained more territory, the question of whether the new states would be free soil or slave holding states was hotly debated. After the Civil War, the West offered inspiration to citizens hopeful of taking part in and expanding the ideals of a free labor society. As the Republican party and special interests groups desired a more active government, those who were opposed saw the West as a place untouched by government authority. It was America in its most raw, idealist form. Settlement from the East transformed the Great Plains. The huge herds of American bison that roamed the plains were virtually wiped out, and
  • 44. Education In Special Education Special education is student centered where the needs of the student come before the disability of the student. Special education teachers create their classroom and instruction based on who their students are and what services they need in order to be successful in their learning. Merriam Webster (2015) defines special educationas classrooms and instruction designed for students with special needs. Special education is a service provided by public schools to students who require additional support through specialized instruction, class materials, and/or changes in their learning environment in order for them to meet their learning objectives. Special education teachers maintain challenging expectations for individuals with exceptionalities to develop the highest possible learning outcomes and quality of life potential in ways that respect their dignity, culture, language, and background. Special education allows students to receive personalized instruction in their least restrictive learning environment to their specific needs based on their disabilities. Students with disabilities who receive their education through special education services are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to become successful in their future education or careers after high school. Teaching students who require additional support due to their disabilities in order to learn the general curriculum involve teachers to facilitate differentiation instruction throughout the classroom.

Rats, mice, rabbits, dogs, pigs, and monkeys are all used to develop drugs and treatments to benefit humans. Even though animal brains do not precisely mimic the biology of the human brain, their brains have many of the same basic structures and functions. Animal research, that is, the use of animals as experimental subjects in biomedical and behavioural fields of learning, has been institutionalised on the basis of two key assumptions, one factual and one moral. The factual assumption is that animal research provides a reliable basis for predicting the effects of drugs, products and yield significant scientific conclusions and medical benefits for society. It is difficult to predict when and what types of basic research will lead to eventual applications however much of it eventually does, sometimes in areas far removed from the original research (Ferdowsian Gluck, 2015). All living things share certain characteristics, and basic research on one organism often produces knowledge that applies to many other organisms. Both basic and applied research using animals are subject to a number of safeguards that make it very unlikely that the research will be unnecessary or poorly done. Before an experiment using a vertebrate animal is carried out, the protocol for that experiment must be reviewed by an institutional committee that includes a veterinarian and a member of the public, and during the research the animal s health and care are monitored regularly. Researchers require healthy animals for study in science and medicine, because unhealthy animals could
  • 46. The Causes Of Sexual Orientation And Homosexuality Charles Darwin famously said, We do not even in the least know the final cause of sexuality. The whole subject is hidden in darkness (Ryu). Since the beginning of time, there have been questions revolving around the topic of sexual orientation. Within the past few decades, homosexuality is becoming more mainstream and socially acceptable as more people begin to examine their gender identity and sexual preferences. Scientists researched to determine the cause of sexual orientation; however, two opposing sides have formed around the issue: nature (inherited genes and biology) versus nurture (the environment). Proponents of nature argue sexual orientation is biological and genetic; whereas proponents of nurture argue sexual orientation is non biological, environmental, and socially constructed. According to the American Psychological Association, sexual orientation is not a choice; instead ...it emerges from most people in early adolescence with no prior sexual experience ( Answers to Your Questions About Sexual Orientation and Homosexuality ). Despite this, social theorists and other branches of scientists argue an individual s upbringing directly impacts their sexual orientation. Many proponents of nurture are religiously motivated to establish the morality behind sexual orientation. However, the purpose of this essay is to examine and develop a deeper understanding of the theories surrounding the cause of sexual orientation. When combining all four non adaptive,

When I heard political climate, being the political science major I am, and the truthfully not very creative thinker, I just immediately started talking about politics. Yet, you managed to dive into the topic of exclusivity and relate that to the political climate, and I must say, I agree with you. The characters from both stories come from different cultures but one thing they both have in common is their roles. Although they are both having trouble with the marriage they are in they cope with it differently. In The Yellow Book, the wife is fighting mentally with herself telling herself over and over that she is not crazy. I ve got out at last, [...] in spite of you and Jane. And I ve pulled off most of the wallpaper, so you can t put me back as much as she says that she is not free because she is still confined in the same room and most readers can assume that her mental condition only got worse from time to time of being stuck inside that room staring at the hideous wallpaper where she pictured herself in. She not only grows to like it, but goes so far as to become, in her mind, literally one with it. Her relationship with the wallpaper, in part, reflects Lacan s mirror stage, albeit in an unusual, psychotic way. The mirror stage manufactures for the subject [...] the succession of fantasies that extends from a fragmented body image to a form of its totality (Lacan 4). As stated by the author Suess, Barbara says that unknown crazy wife from the short story was not only a piece of wallpaper that she would see but it was something she saw herself becoming and could see herself in it but by tearing that wallpaper down she, unlike the others she saw stuck in it, was free and did not have to
  • 49. Family Guy Character Analysis Family Guy, an Analytical Review by Caleb Packard I am not allowed to watch much TV. Therefore, I must be super selective about what I watch. While I could waste a lot of time watching Duck Dynasty, when it comes to choosing a show, Family Guy is my top selection. I think the popular cartoon comedy Family Guy, written by Seth MacFarlane, is one of the best shows still running today. Among currently running animated sitcoms, there are a few that have current connections to people and events. Most famous of this genre of shows are South Park and Family Guy. Unlike South Park, which follows a group of friends at school, Family Guy is about a family. The Griffin family consists of parents Peter and Lois, their children Chris, Meg, Stewie, and the family dog, Brian. Instead of showcasing the adventures of an individual struggling to balance impulses and responsibilities, Family Guy focuses on the dynamics created by family members who are extreme in their personality traits and very different from each other. Peter, the father, is impulsive, incompetent, and easily excitable. Lois is the stereotypical responsible mother and wife. Meg is a classic case of a teenage girl struggling to fit in at high school. Chris is your average awkward and immature teenage boy. Stewie, the precocious baby, is by far the smartest and most cunning of the cast. Interestingly, the screenwriters often drop hints that he is gay. He is eager to assume adult responsibilities and motivated to have
