Investors’ On-Off Relationship With Emerging Market Debt
Investors on off relationship with emerging market debt (EMD) was again on display during much of
2016: annual performance reached double digit heights by September, before falling back in the three
days following the US elections. Despite this seesaw pattern of returns, EMD finished the year as one
of the best performing fixed income markets, underscoring the merit of having a strategic allocation to
the asset class. Less obvious is what, if anything, investors can do to reap consistently more of the
gains, and less of the volatility. The reasons for investing in EMD are becoming increasingly relevant
in today s environment. Investors more than ever need income to match liabilities, and traditional
developed market fixed income alone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of them can impact significantly the performance and risk profile of EMD assets. Second, the
diversity of the asset class should mean more attendant alpha opportunities for investors, but the
changing nature of the performance drivers make alpha generation less straightforward than it seems.
Finally, the asset class is particularly vulnerable to short term surprises, as evidenced last year by
November s US elections. We believe EMD differs from traditional developed market fixed income in
several ways (see the chart below), and accommodating for these differences is an important step
when investing in the asset class. Different dynamics Seeking more durable EMD returns How EMD

Global Warming is a Hoax Essay
The essay opens up with McKibben talking about how the political campaign against global warming
is flawed because at our current point there is nothing much that can be done to fix it.(Mckibben,1) He
then goes to state that humans are the biggest culprit behind global warming and supports this by
giving examples such as SUVs and American ignorance.(2,9) He concludes by saying that if ten
percent of America were to go green, it still would not save the planet, but ten percent could get the
government s attention to pass laws making everyone go green. (11)
To start my response, I am of a personal belief that global warming is a hoax. Over the course of my
education, many of the arguments for global warming have been disproven to me. My ... Show more

Rising water temperatures actually have beneficial effects on coral. It is like leaving a plant in the sun.
I watched a documentary where the famous marine biologist, Jean Michel Cousteau, talks about the
Great Barrier Reef and how temperature affects it. Normally it sits comfortably between 85 to 74
degrees Fahrenheit. Temperatures lower than 70 can cause the coral to turn white and die. However,
after the existing coral dies, new coral grows on top of it and the cycle starts again. Aside from this
this, coral has been known to adapt to survive in waters where the temperature can get below 60 or
rise above 90. So the coral population is in no real danger.
Another point he makes is that Polar bears are getting scrawnier because the seal habitat has declined
because global warming causes the ice to melt. This is false. A common fact global warming
supporters forget to mention is that arctic and Antarctic snowfall replenish the ice each year. Polar
bears and seals are more in danger of poaching than losing their habitat to global warming. Both
species are on the endangered list. However, weighing anywhere between 775 to 1,200 pounds. Polar
bears are still the largest species of bear living on the planet.
So, in short, I have spent an hour and a half of my time to respond to a person who doesn t know what
he is talking about, doesn t cite his research, and is arguing for a theory that I myself haven t found to
be credible or factual. I m glad I could

Descriptive Battle Of Trenton
Battle of Trenton It was nightfall, on what was supposed to be a night of warm cozy homes and
families. Instead we have to spend it out in the cold at war. December 25, 1776 is a to remember. We
crossed the sparkling frozen Delaware River in small little boats. We were on our way towards
Trenton for an ambush on the British. The ice had been scraping at my feet through my worn down
shoes the ice and snow slowly seeping in freezing my toes one by one. When we got there the
mercenaries that were hired for this war had been knocked out from their grand Christmas feast. We
had completely caught them off guard. They had woken up in surprise. It was amazing. I had felt a
heavy weight had been lifted off of my chest, for I believe this was the first of many to come.
Washington had taken 868 prisoners that night. Jake, Acon Battle of Saratoga Burgoyne. The
Lieutenant General of the British army. The sweet taste of victory has reached my mouth. Surprisingly
we had gotten him to surrender. The taste of victory has a sweet tang to it, but a hidden bitterness
underneath of all the sugariness. This surrender will change the course of this war, this is our first
actual victory. The date has been engraved into my mind just ringing over and over again like a bell.
October 17, 1777, the date that will echo in my head as time goes on. This has shown that we
Americans can stand up to the British. Not long after this victory the French had become allies with us
sending us various supplies.

Revisionism Dbq
The reorganization of the world and the crumbling of the Ottoman Empire at the end of the First
World War enabled the British Empire to help the Zionists create the Jewish State in Palestine. To
arrive at this juncture the British occupied Egypt to protect their interests in India. However, British
expansion went far beyond Egypt, they conquered lands throughout the Middle East, capturing
Mesopotamia, Palestine and Syria. British s successes came with the assistance of Arab nationalists
who had a desire of their own independence from the Ottoman Turks. Arab nationalist, Husayn bin Ali
allied with the British in their war against the Ottomans in exchange for the British s support for an

Along with the U.S. government support for the Jewish state is the Christian Millenarians who
believed that the return of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel is a prophecy. Christian Millenarians
believed in the End of Day Prophecy in which Jesus Christ will return to earth and Establishes God s
kingdom on earth and all sufferings will be eliminated. Millenarians regarded the Jews as the chosen
people and the Land of Israel is the Promised Land. The commonality between the Christians and the
Jews is that both religious want to find the red cow in order to fulfill the prophecy. The End of Day

denominations since it is the place where Jesus Christ will return

US Public Financial and Fiscal Policies
The US has the largest single national economy in the world. As it is a democratic society one might
assume that the wealth is equally distributed amongst its people. In reality the nation is severely
segregated in terms of who has the wealth and all the benefits associated with it. A central aspect of
this unequal distribution results from Government Fiscal policies. This is especially true of Tax
Revenue, with all the possible breaks, exemptions and loopholes that currently exist. The major
benefactor of the current Tax system is what is commonly called the 1% . This refers to the one
percent of the population who control approximately 40% of the country s wealth. Given this
inequality it is imperative to consider alternative Economic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Considering that the average annual income in the U.S. is $51,017 , the benefits for the average
American in ability to own stock is fairly low. The theory behind investing and this tax break is that it
promotes investing in companies, which in turn will create jobs. It surely keeps in a sense money into
the economy, but in reality this investment chain is a good way to take the income from salary and
earn it back in this manner at a lower tax percentage. Lastly the third issue of concern for this paper in
terms of the partition of financial situation in America is the Minimum Wage. The current federal
minimum wage is $7.25 , leaving a full time employee at minimum wage earning a yearly salary of
around $14,000. The poverty threshold for a family of four is $23,850 , leaving the current wage non
beneficial in providing a prosperous economy for the country. President Obama has been appealing to
congress to give America a raise in wanting to raise the minimum to $10.10 federally, though it
wouldn t necessarily bring an individuals income greater then the poverty threshold, there would most
definitely be an amelioration, but the need once again would be for more jobs which would employ
the citizens. Companies get tax breaks for shipping their jobs overseas for manufacturing and service
centers, and in turn eliminating the possibility of employing from

Industrial Safety Differences in Unmanned Aerial Systems
Industrial Safety Differences in Unmanned Aerial Systems
Although they tend to be smaller than manned aircraft including most small general aviation types,
UAVs are indeed aircraft and all of the industrial safety measures that apply in other forms of aviation
also apply here. At this point it is appropriate to define a few terms; Remotely Piloted Vehicle/Aircraft
(RPV/Aircraft) refers to an aircraft or vehicle piloted from the ground. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
(UAV) may be piloted from the ground or autonomously controlled through a software program.
Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) refers to the combination of unmanned vehicle and all control,
sensor, payload and maintenance elements necessary for mission accomplishment.
Currently the majority of the UAVs operated by the United States are military assets, and as such are
subject to policies, requirements and regulations of the military. These safety requirements will be
briefly discussed. As unmanned systems are integrated into national airspace they will be operated in
increasing numbers by civil operators, for this reason we will also look at civil safety requirements.
UAS will also present some unique situations which have up to this point not been experienced; this
will require new areas to be incorporated into the aviation industrial safety arena to ensure our current
level of safety is not degraded through their inclusion. This paper will investigate aviation industrial
safety as it applies specifically to

Essay On Courtesan
The difference between a prostitute and a courtesan is clearly explained by the University of the
Chicago who edited the Selected Poems and Letters of Veronica Franco. It stated that the most neutral
word in mid sixteenth century Italy for a woman who made her living by selling her sexual services
was meretrice, for which an English equivalent would be prostitute. A word used to insult such
women, because it described the poorest class and most morally condemned category of a sex worker,
was puttana, in English, whore . Cortigiana courtesan had a different meaning. It was derived from
cortigiano, meaning a man who served at court, so it had connotations of splendour and technical or, at
least, bureaucratic expertise. The addition of onesta ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being a successful courtesan meant independence, avoidance of financial and social subordination
within the traditional patriarchal family structure. It also meant substantial income for the maintenance
of a comfortable, well equipped household. And while as courtesans they may not have had the social
acceptability of proper women, they were respected and conferred status as professionals in the
business of pleasure. (Adler, 1988)
Florentino: Poetry over Family
Leona Florentino (1840 1884) left her son and her husband, who did not accept her writing, and
preferred spending the rest of her life in solitude in another area. Some have suspected that her son
censured his mother s erotic and rebellious production, and, consequently, we can never be sure what
indeed she wrote. Leona Florentino was born in Vigan in an ilustrado family and she got a private
education. She also wrote in Spanish, but mainly in her mother tongue Ilocano. During the time of the
18th century, opportunities for women were not widely available or were only limited because of the
forces of a highly patriarchal society but despite this, one Filipino poetess and considered as Mother of
Philippine Women s Literature : Leona Florentino, managed to educate herself. Her works contributed
a lot to early movements of feminism which this

How Did Greek Culture Influence Western Civilization
Greek society and culture has influenced Western Civilization in architecture. For example, churches
courthouses and even the white house. Many people believe that they are used for a sign of power. In
the current era technology and convenience is harder to believe that a civilization in the greek era was
able to thrive from 1000 b.c. to 323 b.c. Fifth century playwrights Aristophanes and Sophocles
produced comedies and tragedies, respectively. During the early days of theater, masks were used to
represent a variety of emotions and to disguise male actors playing female roles. Only 44 plays from
the ancient Greeks remain today, serving as the foundation of Western theater. Doric is a minimalistic

as opposed to authentic developments. A request, legitimately talking, is a blending of a certain style
of segment with or without a base and an entablature (what the section upholds: the architrave, frieze,

stone. This was a vertical fluted segment shaft, more slender at its top, with no base and a basic capital
underneath a square math device. The entablature frieze conveyed substituting triglyphs and metopes.
The Ionic request, with causes in mid sixth century BCE Asia Minor, included a base and volute, or
parchment capital, to a slimmer, straighter section. The Ionic entablature frequently conveys a frieze
with lavishly cut model. The Corinthian segment, concocted in Athens in the fifth century BCE, is like

Many LGBTIA Jamaicans are denied full citizenship rights and in turn become homeless, forced to

Strategic Leadership Of Operation Husky
The operational level commanders, of Operation Husky, failed to provide adequate command and
control and were average in their integration of the joint Allied force. The Allied Force Commander,
General Eisenhower, and the 15th Army Group Commander, General Alexander, failed to apply
mission command and specifically the elements of commander s intent, mutual trust, and
understanding. Furthermore, the Allied Force Headquarters, and specifically the air component
commander, Air Chief Marshal Tedder, poorly integrated the air component into the joint force.
Though Operation Husky is considered an important Allied victory, the poor performance of the
operational level commanders resulted in the Axis forces successful evacuation of over 100,000 men
and 10,000 vehicles from Sicily. This essay will evaluate command and control and specifically the
three mission command attributes of commander s intent, mutual trust and understanding. It will then
evaluate the operational leadership s integration of military force as defined by Joint Publication 1 (JP
1) of: The arrangement of military forces and their actions to create a force that operates by engaging
as a whole . It will evaluate the air and maritime component s performance in the joint functions of
movement and maneuver, fires, protection and sustainment as it applies to their support of the joint
force. Finally, it concludes with what the negative ramifications were of the Allied operational
leadership s failure

The American Fur Company and John Jacob Astor
I. Introduction Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely (Lord Acton). John
Jacob Astor was a man that had absolute power during his era and used his power and wealth to
benefit himself and not the social fabric of society . Astor lived during the time of a post revolutionary
America which allowed him to build a monopolist empire with little restraint from government or

He was the personification of monopoly, determined to rule or ruin, wrote historian Hiram Martin
Chittenden in 1903. And he was thoroughly hated even by those who respected his power (Crossen).
The issue arises should one person be able to control that much power and isn t held accountable for
the use of that power to society? One complicated issue of the American Fur Company reign was its
impact on the expansion of the United States westward. It strongly influenced the history of the west,
not only making way for permanent settlements but by also opening the Great Lakes commercial
fishing, steamboat transportation, and trade in that area (Stokesbury). But was the benefit derived from
this westward expansion justified by the extraction that took place against its stakeholders or those it
affected? Is injustice every justified?
III. Analysis of Issues Astor, in his desire for more money and greater profit, completely disregarded
the needs of the people his actions affected. This lack of social responsibility was the American Fur
Company s worst offense. His was constantly looking for ways to improve his financial bottom line.

Men and Women in British Literature Essay
The portrayal of men and women has varied in different stories throughout history. Many portray
women as beautiful, deceptive, manipulative, and smart, while men are portrayed as being strong,
masculine, and easily tricked. In many of the works covered in the course Major British Writers to
1800, men are advised to refrain from acting lustful, believed that it would harm their overall ability to
succeed in whatever the characters aimed to do. An example of this is seen in Sir Gawain and the
Green Knight when Gawain is deceived by Lady Bertilak in an effort to prove that Sir Gawain is
imperfect. The depictions of men and women are very similar in Fantomina by Eliza Haywood, Sir
Gawain and the Green Knight, and Phyllis and Aristotle. . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Sir Gawain was nearly beheaded as was Aristotle in their stories, the result of the deception by
Fantomina was an unplanned pregnancy. I feel that Haywood shows morality in this result because,
unlike other works, the man is not punished for being deceived, with the only real trouble of
Beauplaisir being that he knows of the existence of his child, which is an internal punishment for his
actions. Beauplaisir being unpunished and having his name remain untarnished while Fantomina was
sent to a monastery with her child is an example of how Haywood remained consistent with the
portrayal of other works in regards to male and female portrayal while also distinguishing herself and
her work from other works. The portrayal of women in Milton s Paradise Lost is very different from
the other works. While women are often seen as being deceitful, devious, and smart, the depiction of
Eve is different as she is seen as being dumber and more inferior to Adam in all areas besides beauty.
This portrayal of Eve assisted in the progression of Paradise Lost as Eve ate the forbidden apple after
being persuaded by Satan to eat the apple. While the incident caused Adam to also disobey God, it
created a bond between Adam and Eve that was greater than before the incident when they were
considered pure. The bond between Adam and Eve that is improved through the learning of new

Film Form
Week 2 Film: The Wizard of Oz
FORM: is the sum of all parts of the film, unified and given shape by patterns such as repetition and
variation, story lines and character traits.
Film is not the product of a random collection of technical devices, but rather, it is a system
THE CONCEPT OF FORM IN A FILM
Artworks involve us by engaging our senses, feelings and mind in a process.
The artwork cues the spectator to perform a specific activity.
 Example: A poem s words may guide us to imagine a scene, to notice a break in rhythm or to expect
a rhyme
Like all artworks, film is not simply a random batch of elements, film has a form.
Film form is the overall system of relations that we can perceive among the elements in the ... Show

A tragic event might be undercut by lighthearted music
 Emotional response felt by the spectator
Just as formal Conventions can make us suspend our normal sense of real life experience; form may
lead us to override our everyday emotional responses.
 People who we Despise in life may become spellbinding as characters
 Wizard of Oz: We might find the land of Oz much more appealing than Kansas, but because the
films form leads us to sympathize with Dorothy in her desire to go home, we feel satisfied when she
finally returns home to Kansas.
Expectation spurs emotion
 To have an expectation about what will happen is to incest some emotion in the situation.
Delayed fulfillment of an emotion (suspense), may produce anxiety or sympathy
Gratified expectations may create a feeling of relief
Form and Meaning
When we watch films, we re looking to attribute a deeper significance or meaning to the artwork as a

As spectators we develop meaning based upon the juxtaposition of images and sounds in the film, and
the way we perceive them is shaped by our own cultural social experiences.

The Invention Of Inkjet Printing
The concept of inkjet printing originated in the 20th century, and the technology was first extensively
developed in the early 1950s. Starting in the late 1970s inkjet printers that could reproduce digital
images generated by computers were developed, mainly by Epson, Hewlett Packard (HP), and Canon.
Although inkjet printers only appeared on the consumer market in the late 1980s, they had been under
development for more than twenty years by that time. In the mid 1970s, printer companies realized the
potential of the technology that would make dot matrix printers obsolete. The challenge, however, was
to come up with a way to create an affordable inkjet printer that would reliably create high quality
print outs .In the worldwide consumer market, four manufacturers account for the majority of inkjet
printer sales: Canon, HP, Epson, and Lexmark, a 1991 spin off from IBM.[1]( IBM Archives: 1990s .

Most of these people are the ones who vacationed heavily before the 90s. The land today is owned by
many different hotels and companies. Many of the people who vacation here now are aged 18 40, and
come looking to have a good and exciting time with their friends, rather than to relax. Today, Ocean
City is pretty accessible to most people, and is no longer a location reserved for the high class. Today s
beachwear is bikinis for the ladies, and shorts for the guys. Ocean City now has a year round
population of eight thousand people. They also have programs for supporting immigrant students
finding work during the summer.(Ocean City MD Chambers of Commerce) After 130 years of
development Ocean City s culture has changed tremendously. A large part of that change is due to the
amount of people coming to the area bringing their cultures and expanding on the ones already here.
Today, Ocean City presents itself as a modern resort while also showing off the older parts of the city
as a reminder of how it used to be, and as a treat for the older generations that experienced the city as
it once was. Ocean City is trying to be less of a vacation area, and more of a year round resort with
events to draw people in.(History of Ocean City

The Louisiana Purchase By Thomas Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson faced a multitude of complications and benefits throughout the endeavor of the
Louisiana Purchase. The Louisiana Purchase is highly regarded as the greatest achievement of
American expansion since the establishment of the country. This transaction between France and
America gave the necessary requirements to recover and even advance the weak U.S. economy.
America paid France $15 million for an estimated 800,000 acres of land; making this the largest land
deal in history. Despite the many advantages that the Louisiana Purchase had to offer, Thomas
Jefferson, the current president of the time faced many conflicts in the process of retrieving the land.
The whole ordeal offered a combination of advantages and disadvantages that spanned from political,
financial, and philosophical.
The American government was not economically prepared to partake in expensive transactions. This
Louisiana Purchase was not too long following the revolution from England. The conflict resulted in
American victory and freedom for the colonies. However, the war also left the new country crippled
and financially unstable without the support of England. The nation was hardly able to afford the land
that France had to offer. However, Thomas Jefferson saw the economic advantages that this offer
could present to the country. Jefferson was a huge supporter of farmers and the benefits that
agriculture could bring the nation. Rich in gold, silver and other ores, as well as huge forestland,

Power Of Sneeze
Achoo!... Achoo!... Achoo! A sneeze has the power to disrupt a moment with a simple, Achoo! and
Bless you! It is the sound that turns heads and gives strangers an opportunity to interact with others.
The attention that a sneeze receives, leaves all the poor coughs and hiccups alone in the corner,
waiting for a blessing. Even with the parody version of Bless You, Cough you, sneezes continue to
hog the stage. However, had Pope Gregory I never encourage the saying, had it die off with the
outbreak of the bubonic plague, or better yet, had the superstition that sneezes left people s soul
vulnerable to the devil never existed, it would have not been so over popularized. This change in
history would of resulted in a decreased awareness

Essay about Modern Photograph and Realism
In 1979 Stephen Shore, Merced River, Yosemite National Park, 1930 Walker Evans, Factory street in
Amsterdam, New York, and in 1941 Dorothea Lange, Road on the Great White Plains, these three
photographers transformed their landscape photographs into their own distinctive significance through
the expression of realism, a movement in modern photography. Shore transforms a common place to
an escape, Evans documents the effects of one of the most important historical periods in American
social history and Lange uses her photography as a tool for political change. Although they all
embodied their photograph with their own significance, they don t share the same motives. In 1979

This image almost looks like an alley. Due to the wet glossy floors you can tell it was previously
raining. The first thing to catch your attention is the long road receding infinitely, leading your eyes
from the foreground to the background creating maximum depth of field like in Shore s photo. Instead
of trees fading into mountains we see buildings fading into trees. Evans captures the differing building
types. However, there is a repetition in windows. The stone building echoes the stone road. The power
lines seem to unite the two sides of the streets together. The third building to the left is half black and
half white, which creates strong contrast. The building creates a subtle shadow on each side of the
stone road leaving the middle of the road highlighted by diffused sun light. The background also
creates contrast as the dark trees overlap the light sky. Unlike Stephen Shore s use of color to project
happiness, love, and freedom, Evan s photo is black and white, projecting loneliness, emptiness, and
hopelessness. Do to the absence of human presence; this quiet image signifies solitude and
abandonment. It is evident that most of these buildings are factories. However, if there are no signs of
workers, the photo signifies that something so bad happened here that everyone fled and abandoned
the place. With this photo, Evans does not try to persuade a point of view; instead he documents the
truth, representing social realism. An artistic movement in modern

Grammar Usage And English Class
Introduction
Grammar is the basis for the English language, yet is not uncommon to approach a teenager, or even
an adult that has a genuine fear and even a distaste for grammar. While they likely know the value of
such a construct, the endless rules and complex exceptions to grammar rules has created a sense of
dread among many learners. Yet, it is not only the student that shies away from grammar
conversations, but many teachers themselves feel inadequate in the grammar usage, both in speaking
and writing, as well as their assessment of student writing. With the national push to embed writing
across the curriculum, many teachers feel ill prepared to assess students on their grammar. While they
may concede it is important, many teachers would argue the place for grammar is only in the English
classroom. However, this poses the question, if students isolate grammar usage to their English class,
how will they be equipped to transfer correct usage skills in their future careers which will likely be
outside the field of English?
There is little academic research available on professional attitudes about grammar from high school
teachers. This study is an attempt to examine the statistical merit of grammar attitudes. This paper
includes a literature review on the current state of attitudes of grammar among English teachers,
college professors, and employers. Then, this paper will discuss results of an Effective Instruments
Survey, henceforth knowns at the Grammar Attitudes

Tenancy by the Entirety Illinois Memo
WHAT IS THE LAW OF TENANCY BY THE ENTIRETY?
ANSWER: An estate held in tenancy by the entirety is limited to homestead property held by a
husband and wife during coverture.
The Illinois statute authorizing transfer of property into tenancy by the entirety states as follows:
Whenever a devise, conveyance, assignment, or other transfer of property, including a beneficial
interest in a land trust, maintained or intended for maintenance as a homestead by both husband and
wife together during coverture shall be made and the instrument of devise, conveyance, assignment, or

2003), the Appellate Court held that evidence supported a finding that a husband s sole intent in
transferring residence into tenancy by the entirety was to avoid paying debts existing at time of
transfer. In LaSalle Bank, the appellate court affirmed a judgment against the husband in September 3,
1999. Id. at 281. The husband transferred the property from him and his wife in joint tenancy to a
tenancy by the entirety on September 20, 1999. Id.
The Appellate Court reasoned that the Trial Court s finding that the husband transferred the property
to tenancy by the entirety solely to avoid a judgment creditor was not against the manifest weight of
the evidence because 1) the husband owned less than $4,000 of assets at the time he transferred the
property into tenancy by the entirety,
2) the husband didn t make the transfer around 1998 when he was advised to do so by a family
attorney in order to protect the estate and make the transfer easier upon his death, since his assets were
tied up in the business,
3) the husband did not own the residence individually or as a tenant in common with his wife, in
which case there may have been a legitimate reason to transfer the property to tenancy by the entirety
other than to avoid a judgment debt.
3) the husband made the transfer to tenancy by the entirety at a time when to not make such a transfer
would have rendered him insolvent, and
4) the transfer was made within days after the Appellate

Cognitive Learning Theory Cognitive theorists try to explain human behavior by understanding how
we process and store new information. The cognitive theories of learning originated from the gestalt
theory. The three major contributors to the cognitive learning theories were Jean Piaget, Edward
Tolman, and Albert Bandura. In this paper, I will evaluate the work of all three theorists, demonstrate
an understanding of the theory, and explain how the theory can be applied to our current educational
environment. The gestalt theory was founded by three men, Max Wertheimer, Wolfgang Kohlu, and
Kurt Koffka. Wertheimer conducted several experiments, using a ... Show more content on

Tolman agrees mostly with the Gestalists about education. Tolman would test hypotheses in the
learning environment. He would want the learner to be exposed to different viewpoints and encourage
small group discussions. Tolman believed that learning occurs non stop.
Tolman and Bandura share a lot of the same believes. They agree that learning is a continuous process
that does not require reinforcement. Albert Bandura s learning theory is known as observational
learning theory. Bandura believed in reciprocal determinism, in that the environment and the behavior
of a person cause each other. He believed that we learn from observing the consequences of our
behavior. Bandura is famous for his study known as the bobo doll studies (Boeree, 2010). The study
involved a group of children viewing a film of a woman beating a blow up clown. The children were
allowed to play with a blown up clown and most mimicked the woman s behavior. He preformed this
study in many different ways, even using a real clown in one. This lead Bandura to believe, that there
were steps involved in the modeling process (Boeree, 2010). He believed that for us to learn we must
pay attention. If we lose our attention we will have a decrease in learning. We then must be able to
recall what we were paying attention to. Bandura believes that we store what we have seen as mental
images or verbally. Next we have to be able to reproduce what

Carpe Diem By Mr Keating
Carpe Diem a quote by Mr. Keating, a teacher in the movie Dead Poets Society uses this philosophy
which means Seize the day . The 1989 film takes place in 1959. He thought his students should use
little thought from textbooks and think with their own ideals, in a school where Tradition, Honor,
Discipline, and Excellence are praised. In today s society, this practice appeals more to parents and
colleagues. For parents and Teachers in 1959, Mr. Keating s teaching style was not approved of. But in
today s less traditional society could they view this Carpe Diem teaching style differently? Mr.
Keating s style could be positive and could be negative. Some prefer a classroom where students can

Effects Of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
Fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) is physical and mental damage in a child due to alcohol exposure while
in the womb. Every year, 1 in 750 infants in the U.S. are born with fetal alcohol syndrome, which is
the leading known preventable cause of birth defects in the U.S. Another 40,000 children are born
with fetal alcohol effects. Some infants born with fetal alcohol syndrome have symptoms such as a
low birth weight, small head circumference, and facial abnormalities (e.g. smaller eye openings,
flattened cheekbones, etc.). Children born with fetal alcohol syndrome also experience developmental
delay, organ dysfunction, lack of imagination or curiosity, and behavioral problems (including
hyperactivity, anxiety, impulsiveness, and social withdrawal. Some other symptoms include poor
coordination, learning difficulties, poor social skills, and epilepsy. These symptoms are the same ones
that children with fetal alcohol effects, but children with fetal alcohol effects experience them display
them to a lesser degree. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fetal alcohol syndrome is caused by chronic alcohol use during pregnancy, but even occasional or
binge drinking can result in birth defects (FAE and ARND). When mothers drink alcohol, the fetus
receives a high concentration of alcohol, because alcohol can easily pass through the placenta, and
fetuses can t handle it as well as adults can. The worst problems are caused when mothers drink during
the first trimester, because that is when most of the baby s brain development occurs. However, there
are still some developments during the second and third trimesters, so drinking even just an average
amount of alcohol at any time can cause damage to the

Performance Evaluation Of The Medium Access Control
STATEMENT OF WORK Vehicular Communication Systems are designed to enhance safety, comfort
and intelligence for divers and autonomous driving. The system enables communication between
vehicles and between the vehicle and roadside units in order to avoid traffic congestions and accidents
in a collaborative way. Two sets of standards, i.e. IEEE802.11p and IEEE 1609 series are proposed for
this purpose including technical specifications for vehicular communications and networking. This
project is focused on the performance evaluation of the medium access control (MAC) protocols for
both vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure communications. The network throughput in
relation to back off window size and other technical factors at the physical layers such as modulation
and coding schemes and at the network and resource management layers will be examined. The
differentiation in protocol coordination and parameter setting between V2V and V2I will be identified
and analysed accordingly. INTRODUCTION Over the past couple of years, vehicular communication
has become one of the most active research areas of many academic research groups and automotive
industries, owing to its unique advantages and numerous applications. Also, research in this area has
gained keen interest and support from major safety organizations and governments since a well
structured vehicular network system provides safety for passengers, efficient and reliable
transportation system and infotainment

Carmen Essay
Themes of Seduction and Corruption in Carmen
Si je t aime; prends garde à toi! This ending line from one of the most famous arias in music history,
The Habanera, is one of its most literal. It translates to if you love me, guard yourself! , a fitting
exclamation from the titular character Carmen. She has often been described as a femme fatale, a
mysterious and seductive woman whose charms ensnare her lovers, though others urge audiences to
view Carmen as the emotional, vulnerable woman beyond that. In general, Georges Bizet s opera
Carmen has been called one of the most seductive operas of all time, despite being a controversial,
hostily received tragedy during Bizet s time. The opera, based on the novella Carmen by Prosper
Mérimée, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Carmen herself is at once the battlefield, the enemy, and the prize, and José and the rest of the
characters are the ones warring over her. Carmen plays a game, the rules of which she had no part in
writing. The men offer her love, but love here means sexual objectification, loss of individual identity,
and submission to men. In this realm, in fact, all the female characters are subject to the soldier s gaze
as sexual objects on display. Carmen believes she can only be true to her self defined identity through
death. Other sources, however, cite Carmen as a demon, a predatory siren who lures men to their
destruction, an objectification of manipulative, destructive, female sexuality... an animal, a devil .
Women, in general, were often portrayed as an enemy in different artistic realms during this time. In
Balzac s Splendeurs et misères des courtisanes, the character Esther, a courtesan who commits suicide,
is identified by Balzac as a Jew and describes her as Oriental, mysterious, pagan, [and] sexually
promiscuous, a diabolical, sadistic serpent, and as a demon without pity. Carmen as a gypsy is
considered disorderly, violent, law breaking, diabolical, and generally uncivilized. (Due to the word
gypsy being a slur to those of Romani nomadic descent, all further instances will say nomad , being

A Bar At Folies Bergere
In late 19th century Paris, cafés concerts (best described as glorified beer halls (Clark 206)) were a
very popular destination for the people of Paris. Cafés concerts became an integral part of Parisian
social life, as they were visited by hundreds of people each night, regardless of class. A bar at the
Folies Bergère became the topic of Edouard Manet s last painting, as Manet tried to portray the new,
modern Paris, and the introduction of mass production during this time. A Marxist art historian, T.J.
Clark finds this particular painting important because it revealed a lot about the new, modern Paris,
and Manet s intentions with the painting. Clark focuses more on the emergence of the new social class
during this time, and how this affected the role of women in Paris. The painting, A bar at Folies
Bergère, has historical significance because of how it depicts modernity in the context of the
emergence of a new social class (the petite bourgeoisie), the introduction of mass production, and the
changing role of women.
Manet was well known for his paintings of modernity , which tried to capture Paris during the late
1800 s, revolutionizing painting during this time. He wanted to capture modern life, and this is why he
chose to do a painting about the Folies Bergère. Cafés Concerts were considered very modern for
various reasons. They were described as being ordinary, yet successful. They allowed for the mixing
of classes to occur. There was no distinction in, who came

  • 2. Investors’ On-Off Relationship With Emerging Market Debt Investors on off relationship with emerging market debt (EMD) was again on display during much of 2016: annual performance reached double digit heights by September, before falling back in the three days following the US elections. Despite this seesaw pattern of returns, EMD finished the year as one of the best performing fixed income markets, underscoring the merit of having a strategic allocation to the asset class. Less obvious is what, if anything, investors can do to reap consistently more of the gains, and less of the volatility. The reasons for investing in EMD are becoming increasingly relevant in today s environment. Investors more than ever need income to match liabilities, and traditional developed market fixed income alone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All of them can impact significantly the performance and risk profile of EMD assets. Second, the diversity of the asset class should mean more attendant alpha opportunities for investors, but the changing nature of the performance drivers make alpha generation less straightforward than it seems. Finally, the asset class is particularly vulnerable to short term surprises, as evidenced last year by November s US elections. We believe EMD differs from traditional developed market fixed income in several ways (see the chart below), and accommodating for these differences is an important step when investing in the asset class. Different dynamics Seeking more durable EMD returns How EMD differs from traditional fixed income How to adapt the investment process Implementation challenges The composition of the asset class and the underlying return drivers change more frequently Dynamic asset allocation to adjust to changing regimes Keeping transaction costs in check Investment universe is more expansive, diverse and complex, with markets and securities reacting very differently to global forces Actively incorporate complexities into selection process Understanding, measuring and managing the associated risks Performance is more vulnerable to event risk Manage drawdown effectively Hedging positions in real time and in a cost effective manner Source: BlackRock, February 2017 These differences can have an ... • 3. Global Warming is a Hoax Essay The essay opens up with McKibben talking about how the political campaign against global warming is flawed because at our current point there is nothing much that can be done to fix it.(Mckibben,1) He then goes to state that humans are the biggest culprit behind global warming and supports this by giving examples such as SUVs and American ignorance.(2,9) He concludes by saying that if ten percent of America were to go green, it still would not save the planet, but ten percent could get the government s attention to pass laws making everyone go green. (11) To start my response, I am of a personal belief that global warming is a hoax. Over the course of my education, many of the arguments for global warming have been disproven to me. My ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rising water temperatures actually have beneficial effects on coral. It is like leaving a plant in the sun. I watched a documentary where the famous marine biologist, Jean Michel Cousteau, talks about the Great Barrier Reef and how temperature affects it. Normally it sits comfortably between 85 to 74 degrees Fahrenheit. Temperatures lower than 70 can cause the coral to turn white and die. However, after the existing coral dies, new coral grows on top of it and the cycle starts again. Aside from this this, coral has been known to adapt to survive in waters where the temperature can get below 60 or rise above 90. So the coral population is in no real danger. Another point he makes is that Polar bears are getting scrawnier because the seal habitat has declined because global warming causes the ice to melt. This is false. A common fact global warming supporters forget to mention is that arctic and Antarctic snowfall replenish the ice each year. Polar bears and seals are more in danger of poaching than losing their habitat to global warming. Both species are on the endangered list. However, weighing anywhere between 775 to 1,200 pounds. Polar bears are still the largest species of bear living on the planet. So, in short, I have spent an hour and a half of my time to respond to a person who doesn t know what he is talking about, doesn t cite his research, and is arguing for a theory that I myself haven t found to be credible or factual. I m glad I could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Descriptive Battle Of Trenton Battle of Trenton It was nightfall, on what was supposed to be a night of warm cozy homes and families. Instead we have to spend it out in the cold at war. December 25, 1776 is a to remember. We crossed the sparkling frozen Delaware River in small little boats. We were on our way towards Trenton for an ambush on the British. The ice had been scraping at my feet through my worn down shoes the ice and snow slowly seeping in freezing my toes one by one. When we got there the mercenaries that were hired for this war had been knocked out from their grand Christmas feast. We had completely caught them off guard. They had woken up in surprise. It was amazing. I had felt a heavy weight had been lifted off of my chest, for I believe this was the first of many to come. Washington had taken 868 prisoners that night. Jake, Acon Battle of Saratoga Burgoyne. The Lieutenant General of the British army. The sweet taste of victory has reached my mouth. Surprisingly we had gotten him to surrender. The taste of victory has a sweet tang to it, but a hidden bitterness underneath of all the sugariness. This surrender will change the course of this war, this is our first actual victory. The date has been engraved into my mind just ringing over and over again like a bell. October 17, 1777, the date that will echo in my head as time goes on. This has shown that we Americans can stand up to the British. Not long after this victory the French had become allies with us sending us various supplies. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Revisionism Dbq The reorganization of the world and the crumbling of the Ottoman Empire at the end of the First World War enabled the British Empire to help the Zionists create the Jewish State in Palestine. To arrive at this juncture the British occupied Egypt to protect their interests in India. However, British expansion went far beyond Egypt, they conquered lands throughout the Middle East, capturing Mesopotamia, Palestine and Syria. British s successes came with the assistance of Arab nationalists who had a desire of their own independence from the Ottoman Turks. Arab nationalist, Husayn bin Ali allied with the British in their war against the Ottomans in exchange for the British s support for an independent Arab state encompassing all of the Arab provinces ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Along with the U.S. government support for the Jewish state is the Christian Millenarians who believed that the return of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel is a prophecy. Christian Millenarians believed in the End of Day Prophecy in which Jesus Christ will return to earth and Establishes God s kingdom on earth and all sufferings will be eliminated. Millenarians regarded the Jews as the chosen people and the Land of Israel is the Promised Land. The commonality between the Christians and the Jews is that both religious want to find the red cow in order to fulfill the prophecy. The End of Day prophecy is maybe the impetus driving the support for the Jewish state among some Christian denominations since it is the place where Jesus Christ will return ... • 6. US Public Financial and Fiscal Policies The US has the largest single national economy in the world. As it is a democratic society one might assume that the wealth is equally distributed amongst its people. In reality the nation is severely segregated in terms of who has the wealth and all the benefits associated with it. A central aspect of this unequal distribution results from Government Fiscal policies. This is especially true of Tax Revenue, with all the possible breaks, exemptions and loopholes that currently exist. The major benefactor of the current Tax system is what is commonly called the 1% . This refers to the one percent of the population who control approximately 40% of the country s wealth. Given this inequality it is imperative to consider alternative Economic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Considering that the average annual income in the U.S. is $51,017 , the benefits for the average American in ability to own stock is fairly low. The theory behind investing and this tax break is that it promotes investing in companies, which in turn will create jobs. It surely keeps in a sense money into the economy, but in reality this investment chain is a good way to take the income from salary and earn it back in this manner at a lower tax percentage. Lastly the third issue of concern for this paper in terms of the partition of financial situation in America is the Minimum Wage. The current federal minimum wage is $7.25 , leaving a full time employee at minimum wage earning a yearly salary of around $14,000. The poverty threshold for a family of four is $23,850 , leaving the current wage non beneficial in providing a prosperous economy for the country. President Obama has been appealing to congress to give America a raise in wanting to raise the minimum to $10.10 federally, though it wouldn t necessarily bring an individuals income greater then the poverty threshold, there would most definitely be an amelioration, but the need once again would be for more jobs which would employ the citizens. Companies get tax breaks for shipping their jobs overseas for manufacturing and service centers, and in turn eliminating the possibility of employing from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Industrial Safety Differences in Unmanned Aerial Systems Industrial Safety Differences in Unmanned Aerial Systems Although they tend to be smaller than manned aircraft including most small general aviation types, UAVs are indeed aircraft and all of the industrial safety measures that apply in other forms of aviation also apply here. At this point it is appropriate to define a few terms; Remotely Piloted Vehicle/Aircraft (RPV/Aircraft) refers to an aircraft or vehicle piloted from the ground. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) may be piloted from the ground or autonomously controlled through a software program. Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) refers to the combination of unmanned vehicle and all control, sensor, payload and maintenance elements necessary for mission accomplishment. Currently the majority of the UAVs operated by the United States are military assets, and as such are subject to policies, requirements and regulations of the military. These safety requirements will be briefly discussed. As unmanned systems are integrated into national airspace they will be operated in increasing numbers by civil operators, for this reason we will also look at civil safety requirements. UAS will also present some unique situations which have up to this point not been experienced; this will require new areas to be incorporated into the aviation industrial safety arena to ensure our current level of safety is not degraded through their inclusion. This paper will investigate aviation industrial safety as it applies specifically to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Essay On Courtesan The difference between a prostitute and a courtesan is clearly explained by the University of the Chicago who edited the Selected Poems and Letters of Veronica Franco. It stated that the most neutral word in mid sixteenth century Italy for a woman who made her living by selling her sexual services was meretrice, for which an English equivalent would be prostitute. A word used to insult such women, because it described the poorest class and most morally condemned category of a sex worker, was puttana, in English, whore . Cortigiana courtesan had a different meaning. It was derived from cortigiano, meaning a man who served at court, so it had connotations of splendour and technical or, at least, bureaucratic expertise. The addition of onesta ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Being a successful courtesan meant independence, avoidance of financial and social subordination within the traditional patriarchal family structure. It also meant substantial income for the maintenance of a comfortable, well equipped household. And while as courtesans they may not have had the social acceptability of proper women, they were respected and conferred status as professionals in the business of pleasure. (Adler, 1988) Florentino: Poetry over Family Leona Florentino (1840 1884) left her son and her husband, who did not accept her writing, and preferred spending the rest of her life in solitude in another area. The prior utilization of wooden columns in the end developed into the Doric section in stone. This was a vertical fluted segment shaft, more slender at its top, with no base and a basic capital underneath a square math device. The entablature frieze conveyed substituting triglyphs and metopes. The Ionic request, with causes in mid sixth century BCE Asia Minor, included a base and volute, or parchment capital, to a slimmer, straighter section. The Ionic entablature frequently conveys a frieze with lavishly cut model. The Corinthian segment, concocted in Athens in the fifth century BCE, is like the Ionic yet beaten by a more embellishing capital of adapted acanthus and greenery takes off. Many portray women as beautiful, deceptive, manipulative, and smart, while men are portrayed as being strong, masculine, and easily tricked. In many of the works covered in the course Major British Writers to 1800, men are advised to refrain from acting lustful, believed that it would harm their overall ability to succeed in whatever the characters aimed to do. An example of this is seen in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight when Gawain is deceived by Lady Bertilak in an effort to prove that Sir Gawain is imperfect. I feel that Haywood shows morality in this result because, unlike other works, the man is not punished for being deceived, with the only real trouble of Beauplaisir being that he knows of the existence of his child, which is an internal punishment for his actions. Beauplaisir being unpunished and having his name remain untarnished while Fantomina was sent to a monastery with her child is an example of how Haywood remained consistent with the portrayal of other works in regards to male and female portrayal while also distinguishing herself and her work from other works. The portrayal of women in Milton s Paradise Lost is very different from the other works. While women are often seen as being deceitful, devious, and smart, the depiction of Eve is different as she is seen as being dumber and more inferior to Adam in all areas besides beauty. While they likely know the value of such a construct, the endless rules and complex exceptions to grammar rules has created a sense of dread among many learners. Yet, it is not only the student that shies away from grammar conversations, but many teachers themselves feel inadequate in the grammar usage, both in speaking and writing, as well as their assessment of student writing. With the national push to embed writing across the curriculum, many teachers feel ill prepared to assess students on their grammar. While they may concede it is important, many teachers would argue the place for grammar is only in the English classroom. Children born with fetal alcohol syndrome also experience developmental delay, organ dysfunction, lack of imagination or curiosity, and behavioral problems (including hyperactivity, anxiety, impulsiveness, and social withdrawal. Some other symptoms include poor coordination, learning difficulties, poor social skills, and epilepsy. These symptoms are the same ones that children with fetal alcohol effects, but children with fetal alcohol effects experience them display them to a lesser degree. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fetal alcohol syndrome is caused by chronic alcohol use during pregnancy, but even occasional or binge drinking can result in birth defects (FAE and ARND). When mothers drink alcohol, the fetus receives a high concentration of alcohol, because alcohol can easily pass through the placenta, and fetuses can t handle it as well as adults can. The worst problems are caused when mothers drink during the first trimester, because that is when most of the baby s brain development occurs. However, there are still some developments during the second and third trimesters, so drinking even just an average amount of alcohol at any time can cause damage to the ... • 30. Performance Evaluation Of The Medium Access Control STATEMENT OF WORK Vehicular Communication Systems are designed to enhance safety, comfort and intelligence for divers and autonomous driving. The system enables communication between vehicles and between the vehicle and roadside units in order to avoid traffic congestions and accidents in a collaborative way. Two sets of standards, i.e. IEEE802.11p and IEEE 1609 series are proposed for this purpose including technical specifications for vehicular communications and networking. This project is focused on the performance evaluation of the medium access control (MAC) protocols for both vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure communications. The network throughput in relation to back off window size and other technical factors at the physical layers such as modulation and coding schemes and at the network and resource management layers will be examined. The differentiation in protocol coordination and parameter setting between V2V and V2I will be identified and analysed accordingly. INTRODUCTION Over the past couple of years, vehicular communication has become one of the most active research areas of many academic research groups and automotive industries, owing to its unique advantages and numerous applications. Also, research in this area has gained keen interest and support from major safety organizations and governments since a well structured vehicular network system provides safety for passengers, efficient and reliable transportation system and infotainment ... • 32. Carmen Essay Themes of Seduction and Corruption in Carmen Si je t aime; prends garde à toi! This ending line from one of the most famous arias in music history, The Habanera, is one of its most literal. It translates to if you love me, guard yourself! , a fitting exclamation from the titular character Carmen. She has often been described as a femme fatale, a mysterious and seductive woman whose charms ensnare her lovers, though others urge audiences to view Carmen as the emotional, vulnerable woman beyond that. In general, Georges Bizet s opera Carmen has been called one of the most seductive operas of all time, despite being a controversial, hostily received tragedy during Bizet s time. The opera, based on the novella Carmen by Prosper Mérimée, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Carmen herself is at once the battlefield, the enemy, and the prize, and José and the rest of the characters are the ones warring over her. Carmen plays a game, the rules of which she had no part in writing. The men offer her love, but love here means sexual objectification, loss of individual identity, and submission to men. In this realm, in fact, all the female characters are subject to the soldier s gaze as sexual objects on display. Carmen believes she can only be true to her self defined identity through death. Other sources, however, cite Carmen as a demon, a predatory siren who lures men to their destruction, an objectification of manipulative, destructive, female sexuality... an animal, a devil . Women, in general, were often portrayed as an enemy in different artistic realms during this time. In Balzac s Splendeurs et misères des courtisanes, the character Esther, a courtesan who commits suicide, is identified by Balzac as a Jew and describes her as Oriental, mysterious, pagan, [and] sexually promiscuous, a diabolical, sadistic serpent, and as a demon without pity. Carmen as a gypsy is considered disorderly, violent, law breaking, diabolical, and generally uncivilized. (Due to the word gypsy being a slur to those of Romani nomadic descent, all further instances will say nomad , being the generally agreed upon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. A Bar At Folies Bergere In late 19th century Paris, cafés concerts (best described as glorified beer halls (Clark 206)) were a very popular destination for the people of Paris. Cafés concerts became an integral part of Parisian social life, as they were visited by hundreds of people each night, regardless of class. A bar at the Folies Bergère became the topic of Edouard Manet s last painting, as Manet tried to portray the new, modern Paris, and the introduction of mass production during this time. A Marxist art historian, T.J. Clark finds this particular painting important because it revealed a lot about the new, modern Paris, and Manet s intentions with the painting. Clark focuses more on the emergence of the new social class during this time, and how this affected the role of women in Paris. The painting, A bar at Folies Bergère, has historical significance because of how it depicts modernity in the context of the emergence of a new social class (the petite bourgeoisie), the introduction of mass production, and the changing role of women. Manet was well known for his paintings of modernity , which tried to capture Paris during the late 1800 s, revolutionizing painting during this time. He wanted to capture modern life, and this is why he chose to do a painting about the Folies Bergère. Cafés Concerts were considered very modern for various reasons. They were described as being ordinary, yet successful. They allowed for the mixing of classes to occur. There was no distinction in, who came ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
