International Mother Language Day
Our Mother Language Day
(21st February)
UNESCO s declaration of 21st February as the International Mother Language Day has brought fresh
glory and prestige to Bangladesh which is making significant strides towards peace, progress and
prosperity at home and discharging international obligations abroad. After 1952, the people of
Bangladesh have been observing every year the 21st day of February as their glorious and
unforgettable Language Martyrs Day. What happened on 21st February 1952 is widely known. Still let
us very briefly recount the fateful happenings of that day and the circumstances that led to and
followed them.
In August 1947, a new state called Pakistan, comprising two far flung wings in the west and east,
separated by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet so long, it has been mainly a national event of Bangladesh. But with the declaration of 21st
February as the International Mother Language Day, it has transcended the national borders of
Bangladesh and acquired an international significance and a global dimension.
International Mother Language Day is particularly significant in the sense that it has a cultural
importance. From now on, 21st February so long observed in Bangladesh as the Bangla Language
Martyrs Day will be observed here simultaneously as the Bangla Language Martyrs Day and the
International Mother Language Day. And in nearly 200 countries of the world, various peoples
speaking various languages and belonging to various national cultures will observe 21st February as
the International Mother Language Day. They will naturally celebrate their own mother languages, but
while doing so, it is more than likely that they will refer to Bangladesh and the Language Movement
launched by her people that reached a climactic point on 21st February 1952.
The declaration made by the UNESCO in November 1999 designating 21st February as the
International Mother Language Day has placed Bangladesh on the cultural map of the world with a
highly positive image. We, people of Bangladesh, should now do all that we can to further develop our
mother language Bangla in all branches of knowledge so that it can play a worthy role in the
community of world languages. We shall love, cherish and promote Bangla,

The experiences an individual encounters on a daily basis ultimately determines their sense of identity
in society. Identity shapes who we are, it shows our values and can affect our sense of belonging.
Through the poems In the Folk Museum, Feliks Skrzynecki by Peter Skrzynecki and Neighbours by

Disegno, which means drawing, was the most important element in attempting to achieve perfection.
Disengo was found not only in painting, but also in all areas of Florentine art. The importance of
nature in Florentine resulted in the study of the natural world, anatomy, and movement. Artists would
develop their concepts in detail on separate parchment paper and then transfer them. A work that
represents disegno would be Leonardo Da Vinci, The Fetus and Lining of the Uterus. Leonardo used
his technique of hatched shading and careful contours to create careful contours to describe volume
and movement in two artfully posed figures (Sorabella 1). His drawings placed sensitivity on shading
and the tones.
In Venice, artists used the colorito, defined as color, to create work with a sense of life. The color
palette used by Venetians was a slightly less vivid then Florentine palette, but the colors were layered
and blended to achieve a glowing richness. Venetian artists gradually softened their coloring until their
manner equaled nature. Venetians attempted to equal nature through the use of light and how light will
affect the body. And unlike Florentine painting, compositions were placed directly on the canvas
through colored brushstrokes. Titan s Venus and Adonis, is a good example of how Venetian artists
used color to recreate nature. Titan is able to create the mood through intense color and

The Socratic Citizen
Assignment I: Is Socrates a good citizen? Discuss with reference to the Apology and the Crito.
The Socratic Citizen
Plato s Socrates is a character plagued and prized with contradictions. He professed to care for nothing
so much as virtue and human excellence but was incriminated by the greatest and most open
democracy in ancient history. He was wrongfully convicted, yet unwilling to avoid his unjust
execution. He is at once the most Athenian, citizenly, patriotic, and other regarding of philosophers
and yet the most critical and self regarding of Athenians. In exploring that contradiction, between
Socrates the loyal Athenian citizen and Socrates the philosophical critic of Athenian society, Aristotle
s Politics comes to mind: the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He presents himself as a human being of unparalleled piety and devotion who will risk life itself rather
than abandon the duty that has been given to him.
Socrates claims to be a selfless benefactor of the polis in that he had exhausted his private resources in
the pursuit of the public good (23b c, 30a, 31a c). Because he does what is good for his fellow citizens
for whom he feels regard despite the danger to which this exposes him, Socrates claims to be a
benefactor of the Athenians. He refers with pride to his record of military service and underlines that it
was service to the democracy: When the commanders that you elected to command me stationed me at
Potidaea and Amphipolis and Delion, I remained there like anyone else, and ran the risk of death
(28e). He is an honorable citizen who disregards death and preaches that The difficulty, my friends, is
not to avoid death, but to avoid unrighteousness; for that runs faster than death. He has demonstrated
that he is, by his own right, a patriotic citizen who cares deeply about the good of his polis and one
who consistently acts in what he sees as his city s best interests; but he has also shown also that, in
light of his own definition of patriotism, Socrates must be regarded as a uniquely patriotic Athenian.
Unlike the Apology, the Crito seems intended to exhibit the character of Socrates in one

Darwin´s Theory of Natural Selection and Primates
Darwin s ideas about organic evolution were drawn from the existing forces of knowledge on
evolution developed by Lyell, Malthus, and Lamarck. Although Darwin was not the first thinker about
the concept of evolution, he was a revolutionary in developing a theory of evolution that was
consistent. The distinctive element of the evolutionary theory conceived by Darwin is the way he
viewed species. Darwin considered variation among individuals of a species to be natural. He further
argued that variation, far from being problematic, actually provides the explanation for the existence
of distinct species. Darwin adopted elements from Malthus s theory on population growth and stated
that only those members of a population that are capable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

B) After gaining a clear understanding of natural selection and its prominence in the theory of
evolution, the possibility of linking human origin with its ancestors (Primates) has become clearer.
Human evolution is characterized by a number of morphological, developmental, physiological, and
behavioral changes but most interestingly the basis for such changes is in understanding the origins of
humans. The Primate order indeed serves as the starting point for human evolution. The Primates are
an ancient and diverse Eutherian group. Although Primates are considered as tropical animals that live
in forest setting, yet they inhabit many kinds of landscapes and live in widely diverse climates.
Primates are divided into two groups, the Strepsirhini and the Haplorhini. Strepsirhines have long
muzzle, wet noses, lower incisors forming a toothcomb, nocturnal, and have an immobile upper lip.
Haplorhines are further divided into two major groups, the Platyrrhini and the Catarrhini. Platyrrhines
include the new world monkeys found mainly in the South and Central America. Catarrhines include
the old world monkeys and Hominoidea. Homioidea are further divided into apes and humans.
The following physical and behavioral characteristics identify Primates as a separate order of

Psychology Is The Study Of An Organism s Behavior And...
Psychology is the study of an organism s behaviour and mental processes and how they are effected
by the organism s mental and physical environment. Psychology takes into consideration one s
sensation and perception; consciousness; learning; memory; thinking, reasoning and language; and
emotions and motivation. In an effort to fully understand these complex ideas, I experimented with
visual and auditory impairment.
I stimulated my visual impairment by tying a blind fold over my eyes in a relatively comfortable place
and making sure minimal light got through. For the first half hour, I wondered around the house to get
comfortable with my vision impairment. I went from the first floor of my house to the fourth floor on
my own with no external help. On my way back up, I was given challenges to find certain things and
to bring them to a certain area. As I did these tasks, I sensed that someone was close to me or in my
social or intemet proximity; when anything happened, I was susceptible to the little noises I heard, and
reacted immediately. This was orienting response.
As I was walking back up to the first floor, I had to relearn some of my visual strategies to adapt with
my current situation. For example, one challenge was to find a specific type of body cream. I
completed the challenge based on the feel of the bottle. This was almost recalling my latent learning.
This was one of the many situations that made me realize how much I rely on my tactile sense after
my vision. As

Louisiana Territory Research Paper
If the United States had not purchased the Louisiana Territory and won the Western Lands from
Mexico in the Mexican American War, our nation would be a very different place. Firstly, if we
wouldn t have purchased the Louisiana Territory we would probably not have all the land that we have
today in the United States. Secondly, in my opinion if it wasn t for Thomas Jefferson, Meriwether
Lewis, William Clark, and all the Native Americans the exploration could have been very different
from what it was. Also, Meriwether Lewis led the expedition and William Clark was to co lead the
expedition with Lewis. The Louisiana Territory was a good move for the U.S. because it doubled the

big deal in my opinion for both sides of the war. The United States paid 15 million dollars for

Why Soccer Is Better Than Other Countries
Waking up early in the morning to go the soccer field and get a whiff of fresh cut grass, paint, and the
unpleasant smell of some soccer socks being put on to be ready for a match. Some people may have
played soccer in their younger days and can understand the enjoyment. Some people are committed to
the sport and others may have played a few years because their parents made them to. There is nothing
wrong with playing soccer, but to know that they were a part of an amazing experience. This is a very
popular sport around to world and is called football to other countries, but is called soccer in the

Many people enjoy the game of soccer whether they are playing or just watching. There are many

League, Euros, Copa America, Gold Cup, etc. Many fans tuned in to watch the 2014 FIFA World Cup

high level. The entire World Cup reached 3.2 billion viewers, and the final game had around one
million viewers watching live (2014 FIFA World Cup, 2015). Others enjoy to play the sport as well.
People enjoy the game of soccer whether it is playing for fun or competing in the World Cup. Fans
that play want to imitate their favorite players moves. Children watching the pros work their magic
during the World Cup, doing fancy tricks or scoring crazy goals makes kids go out with a ball and
copy what they saw. Players like Ronaldo and Messi do things that make child look up to them. A
study from a survey conducted by FIFA in 2007 found that 265 million people are playing soccer
(Kunz, 2007). Players play to sometimes relieve themselves from a tense situation in the real world.

Prayer In Public Meetings
Commissioners in a North Carolina county had violated the First Amendment s Establishment Clause
in the U.S. Constitution by opening their meetings with Christian prayer and inviting the audience to
stand and join the activity, a federal appeals court has ruled on July 14.
Last week, the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Virginia decided in a 10 5 ruling to
overturn a previous decision to uphold the practice of opening the Rowan County Board of
Commissioners meetings with Christian prayer. Circuit Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson said that the

Steven Agee also dissented, saying the majority s decision lets the people say a generic prayer to a
generic god.
American Civil Liberties Union lawyer Chris Brook, who represented the three residents who
challenged the previous ruling, applauded Wilkinson s words. The lawyer said people should not be
afraid of being discriminated against just because they do not participate in the board s prayer.
Just last month, a federal court in Cincinnati heard arguments on whether legislative led prayer should
be allowed in public meetings. After hearing about arguments on the separation of church and state,
Washington based lawyer Daniel Blomberg released a press statement saying the disagreements on
religion should not be used as an excuse to boot religion out of the public square, Cincinnati relays.
Blomberg, who is affiliated with a law firm involved in the lawsuit, urged the courts to find the First
Amendment s links with history. He said doing so would lead to lesser lawsuits stemming from the
issue of church state

The Fellowship Of The Ring
In the Fellowship of the Ring written by J.R.R. Tolkien and it reveals a new world of elves, magic,
men, dwarves, hobbits, and other unworldly creatures. Middle Earth is the name of the lands every
creature inhabits, and like our world, it is divided up and has different realms of elves, dwarves, men
and so forth. Much to my surprise I enjoyed the book and found it was very intriguing. While I was
reading further into the book I became more drawn into the plot and main characters. The Fellowship
of the Ring is part of a trilogy and I would enjoy reading the other two books in the series. The story
commences with a narrative speech spoken by Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit of the Shire, and gives the
reader the background of Middle Earth. Gandalf the Grey is in the Shire and decides to visit Bilbo
while he is getting ready for his 111th birthday, which commences the same night. During the birthday
party Bilbo decides to play a little trick on his guests with his special ring and disappears before their
very eyes as he slips on his ring. Bilbo runs to his home and packs up his belongings and departs for a
journey, while he s packing Gandalf arrives to speak to Bilbo. Before Bilbo leaves the Shire, he leaves

If you had different hardships in your life would you be a different person? The answer is most likely
yes. A person s character is based upon the experiences they have been through. Adversity has the
effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant, Horace. In And
Still We Rise by Miles Corwin, Corwin shares the lives of inner city kids who still strive to succeed
and go to college although the circumstances they are dealt with have told them otherwise. Some of
the kids that dealt with bad hands were Toya, Olivia, and Willie. The struggles that they went through
are impetuous. Growing up, Toya never knew her biological father. Instead she lived with her mom

They were then separated into several different houses never to live with together again. Willie ended
up living with his dad who was constantly working. He strived in school because he didn t want to end
up like his parents. One afternoon Willie saw his mother passed out in a yard in the neighborhood.
When things went wrong, all Willie could do was cry and be sad because he really had no one to turn
to. Later in the year, Willie became homecoming king which symbolized to him that he did not let the
past reflect the way he would end up. Being named homecoming king was a powerful symbol to him
that his past had not defined him nor deterred him from success, (244). He finished high school and
later went to Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia for business. Willie did not let what his mother
did or the lack of authority affect his success in going to college and quitting the cycle of his parents.
From the beatings her mother gave her to going AWOL after hating foster homes, Olivia s life was far
from perfect. When Olivia was a teenager she was a ward of the county, hopping from one group
home to another. Other girls would steal her clothes and chase her around with a hot iron. She went
AWOL shortly after that, living in her own apartment, having a crazy work schedule, that was just her
life. Whenever she had financial issues she would return to her social worker and yet again be put into
a foster home. One time she went AWOL though and couldn t afford rent anymore, she

Similarities Between Don Quixote And Sancho Panza
The relationship between Don Quixote and Sancho Panza have various interesting points of similarity
and differences between the two main characters in the story of The Epic of Gilgamesh. When
analyzing both stories, one may see how the relationship between Gilgamesh and Enkidu compares to
the relationship between Don Quixote and Sancho Panza. The Epic of Gilgamesh is an epic poem
from ancient Mesopotamia, and is often regarded as one of the earliest texts of literature. However, the
main characters in the poem are both Gilgamesh and Enkidu. In Don Quixote, Sancho Panza and
Alonso Quijano (Don Quixote) have a similar bond. The relationship between Don Quixote and
Sancho Panza have various interesting points of similarity and contrast with The Epic of Gilgamesh.
How do the characters from Don Quixote contrast from the two main characters in The Epic of
Gilgamesh? Don Quixote is a middle aged man from the region of La Macha in Spain. In addition, he
began to be obsessed with the chivalrous ideas that appeared in the books he read. Throughout his
adventures his trusting sidekick, Sancho Panza, accompanies him on his journeys. Sancho Panza first
began to be the neighbor of Alonso, and throughout time Sancho began to be his personal attendant. At
first Sancho is quite timid, or bashful. Sancho Panza was known to be Don Quixote s correct lens for
what the world considered Quixote s distorted vision. Quixote represented illusion while Sancho

Lots of times when respiratory failure and hypoxemia become present, and as the infected patient s
health continues to deteriorate they are placed in the hospital s ICU. If further decline of the

which will require invasive mechanical ventilation. Death has occurred as a result from this disease
which is why the seriousness of seeking treatment early on is momentous. Due to SARS being a
newly discovered disease in 2002 2003, treatment options, possible cures, and plans for care of this
disease were unprecedented. Oxygen therapy was normally initiated in the preliminary stages of
SARS. Non Invasive Ventilation (NIV) was reported to be found efficacious in those with respiratory

well as reduced the length of hospital stays in patients researched with SARS. Ribavirin which is a
drug that is helpful in fighting certain viruses by preventing replication of viral cells has been greatly
used in the treatment of SARS. Research later provided that the drug had no notable effect on the
disease. Lopinavir, another antiviral drug was another drug that was experimented with as a treatment

Comparing Love in Go Tell It on the Mountain, Giovanni s...
Baldwin s first three novels Go Tell It on the Mountain, Giovanni s Room, and Another Country boil
over with anger, prejudice, and hatred, yet the primary force his characters must contend with is love.
Not meek or mawkish but ...something active, more like fire, like the wind (qtd. in O Neale 126),
Baldwin s notion of love can conquer the horrors of society and pave the way to emotional security
(Kinnamon 5). His recipe calls for a determined identity, a confrontation with and acceptance of
reality, and finally, an open, committed relationship. Though Baldwin s characters desperately need
love, they fail to meet these individual requirements, and the seeds of love they sow never take root
and grow to fruition. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Baldwin points to his high school writing as an act of love. It was an attempt not to get the world s
attention it was an attempt to be loved. It seemed a way to save myself and a way to save my family. It
came out of despair (qtd. in Kinnamon 3). Baldwin believes in the redemptive power of love, the
power to save. But first must come despair. All of Baldwin s characters suffer tremendously, for they
live in modern society. Few love. Since suffering is universal but a love fulfilled is not, suffering alone
does not allow one to love, ...but if dealt with courageously...can lead to self knowledge, self
acceptance, and the forging of a genuine self identity (Nelson 122). With no internal conflicts, one can
open up to another person, and love can flower.
This process, however, is rarely completed. In Another Country a vivid portrait of the universal need
for love is suggested by Rufus s interpretation of a saxophonist s improvisation. Rufus plays in a jazz
combo with a young saxophonist who already ...had received the blow from which he never would
recover (9):
...[S]omewhere along the line he had discovered that he could say it with a saxophone. He had a lot to

twenty odd years, and screaming through the horn Do you love me? Do you

the Wall Street Crash of 1929 struck less than eight months after he took office, Hoover tried to fight
the ensuing Great Depression with moderate government public works projects such as the Hoover
Dam. The record tax bracket from 25% to 63%, coupled with increases in corporate taxes, in 1933 but
the economy plummeted simultaneously and unemployment rates rose to afflict one in four American
workers. This downward spiral set the stage for Hoover s defeat in 1932 by Democrat Franklin D.
Roosevelt, who promised a New Deal. After Roosevelt assumed the Presidency in 1933, Hoover
became a spokesman for opposition to the domestic and foreign policies of the New Deal. In 1947,
President Harry S. Truman appointed Hoover to head the Hoover Commission, intended to foster
greater efficiency throughout the federal bureaucracy. Most historians agree that Hoover s defeat in
the 1932 election was caused primarily by the downward economic spiral, although his strong support
for prohibition was also significant, but because of the Great Depression Hoover is ranked lower than

Susan Sontag s The Allegory Of The Cave
When was the last time you looked at a photograph and actually thought to yourself Wow! I actually

understanding is rooted in the ability to say no. Strictly speaking, it is doubtful that a photograph can
help us to understand anything due to conflicting reasons. On one level, Sontag is correct because
when people view an image they look at it in an extremely basic and simple way without looking at it
from a different perspective. Most viewers wouldn t be able to see the real reason the photographer

Analysis Of The Back Of The Turtle By Kings
These oral stories, or histories, provides historical actors with an opportunity to depict their own
stories in their own words, where usual written records often discount the great unwashed. For
Indigenous peoples, individuality is critical to shared histories. Politicians, activists, and business
leaders may materialize frequently in official documents and the media, usually manipulating it for
their purposes, but the rest of us very seldom do. In The Back of The Turtle, Kings portrays a identical
similar setting; a world full of media coverage that is manipulated by large companies, such as
Dominion; A spill? No said Winter. But evidently there has been some seepage. Possibly from one of

Neopets Case Study
As per the Neopets website, Neopets is an online youth focused virtual world whose primary focus is
to allow members to create and take care of virtual pets. In addition to virtual pets, it also offers
games, auctions, trades and messaging. Neopets have been created in 11 languages and generates
more than 5 billion pageviews per month. With nearly 200 games, weekly contests, discussion boards,

Neopet s primary audience of girls under the age of 18, it also needs to move up the technology chain.
There might soon be a 3D virtual pet website which might take away market share from Neopets and
Neopets might see its adopter surfing to a 3D virtual pet websites.
Promotion strategy for Neopets :
Neopets has traditionally depended on word of mouth and viral marketing which is a subset of word of
mouth to increase its spread. As per Hindle, Tim (2008, p205) viral marketing involves choosing a
small group of well connected individuals to launch a product or service via the internet or their
mobile phones. The idea is that their approval will spread rapidly via their online network of
connections, create a buzz around the product being marketed and result in millions of sales. This
form of marketing has grown further with the popularity of social networks like Facebook.
While Neopets is very popular with kids who use the internet extensively, Neopets needs to consider
other mediums to attract kids who are not yet extensive users of the internet. To do that Neopets has

Gender Inequality Throughout The s The Middleton s ``...
In The Revenger s Tragedy, Middleton presents a look at gender inequality in the early 1600 s through
characters like the Duchess. He allows these characters a level of agency in which their actions are
either punished or rewarded depending on the socially acceptable rules established by the patriarchal
hierarchy in the play. Similarly, in Webster s Duchess of Malfi, a parallel examination is made where
the Duchess is given a certain degree of agency and is ultimately killed for her actions in the play.
Both Duchess in Middleton and Webster s plays, rebel against the patriarchal hierarchy and are
punished by the male characters in the plays. The treatment of women in these plays constructs the
ideal moral woman through inappropriately deemed actions. In The Duchess of Malfi, the Duchess is
presented as a widow whose brothers end up determining her fate by constructing rules for how she is
to live. Ferdinand and the Cardinal both caution the Duchess in the first act that marrying or engaging
in a relationship again would tarnish her reputation. The Cardinal is also skeptical of the Duchess
resolve remarking, So most widows say, but commonly that motion lasts no longer than the turning of
an hourglass after the Duchess says she will never marry again (Webster 1765). Ferdinand also
displays skepticism by saying, And women like that part which, like the lamprey, hath nev r a bone in

global organization with the help of the right technology. His knowledge and belief in technology was
well known across the industry and was a contributing factor for the GAI board of directors who
eventually came to a consensus to hire him as CEO. The first few months out west proved to be a
frustrating time for Schwartz. There were so many differences between Kanata and Edmonton both
geographically and socially that he knew it would take some time before he felt comfortable in his
new surroundings. But the frustration was also occurring at work where he felt there was a lot of
resistance to new ideas and a lack of innovative thinking at the tech firm. Based on conversations with
the HR Director, Stuart Miller, Schwartz learned that he was the first senior executive to ever be hired
from outside of the GAI organization; all others were from the southern Alberta region and had moved
up the ranks throughout the organization, including both the previous president and CEO. In addition
to that, Schwartz was only the second senior executive to lead the firm since its creation in 1997. The

Persian Military Factors
Important Military and Strategic Factors of the Persian Wars
During the course of the Persian Wars, the most important military and strategic factors that
contributed to Greek victory at the Battles of Marathon, Salamis, and Plataea were due the actions and
leadership of the Greek generals and strategoi that lead the Greek forces into battle, and made
sometimes difficult decisions and intricate plans in order to save their families, their poleis, and their
country from Persian subjugation and destruction. The main contenders in these battles had to
overcome adverse conditions and political rivalries in order to get into a position in which they could
help to win the war, and many problems and complications arose in battle which meant that plans or
decisions had to be changed quickly, or else the Persians would potentially gain an upper hand. The

his Archonship and evacuation plans helped to save Athens, and his tactics in the naval battle against

The Great Gatsby Social Class Essay
Social class is the deciding factor in all loving relationships . To what extent is this the case in The
Great Ga tsby and two to three of the poems that you have studied.
In loving relationships in The Great Gatsby, Who So List to Hount (hereafter Who So) and The Flea,
the consort with the highest social status is shown to be dominant over their partner. This classist
imbalance means that these relationships seem not only likely to fail, but destined to fail and,
ultimately, it is then social class which determines whether the relationship will succeed. This essay
will explore this idea with reference to the death of Myrtle, the power of King Henry VIII, the
precariousness of Gatsby s wealth and a possible feminist reading of Donne s The Flea.
When Myrtle is hit by the yellow car ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Seeing as Tom s descriptions are also of his cruel body , it can be said that their relationship is, from
the offset, based on lust, rather than love. Social class is not shown to play a part in lustful
relationships, even if it is a deciding factor in loving relationships, because Myrtle and Tom are shown
to be equal in terms of their sexuality.
Interclass relationships are invariably inhibited by social class in The Great Gatsby, Who So and The
Flea; however, this cannot be called the defining factor in these relationships because, whilst it is
necessarily considered by each writer, the love of the lovers does not change due to social class, only
the fate of said relationships. Then again, it must be remembered that each of the characters focused
on have been defined as the person of the lower social class in the relationship. Whilst these
individuals may continue to love their higher class partners, their partner may not reciprocate this
feeling. Indeed, despite Gatsby s intense love for Daisy so great that Gatsby builds his identity, wealth
and house in her name, Daisy remains indifferent towards him and, following her death,

Essay On Humber Watershed
Alien species on the humber watersheds are a major ecological issue for the environment because they
prevent other native species from living/growing in their natural habitat. Alien species do this by
taking up physical space that native species need , preventing native species from reaching their food
and water and spreading disease. The humber watershed is affected in two different ways: native
species and the overall ecosystem of the watershed. invasive species on the humber watersheds have a
major threat to the biodiversity of our waters, wetlands, and marshes. These organisms that originate
from different ecosystems pose a great threat to our ecosystem because coming to our ecosystem their
natural predators can no longer keep the population s growth rate under control and that causes an
increase in population because of that devastating effects on native species, habitats, and ecosystems
may occur. There are reports that over 185 non indigenous species were found Ontario s Great lakes.

Creating A New Shared Vision
In the world of education, many educators work together, not only for the benefit of student
achievement, but to develop and spread new ideas to each other. When one speaks of collaboration in
education, it simply means being in agreement. Collaboration is important and must be taken seriously
by both cooperating parties because they are working together to create a new shared vision. While
collaborating communication plays a major role because both parties must share in agreement of

Collaboration can be done with other certified teachers in the school, or it can be done with para

Why Building Self Confidence Is Vital
Confidence. Some are born with it, some have to grind for it, and others are unaware on how to obtain
it. It is something either one has or lacks, but can always be accomplished over time. Self confidence
can loosely be defined as the capability of a person to have assurance in his or her aptitudes and
capability. Self confidence is the key to triumph, or the first step to success and happiness. Possessing
self confidence can help to give wings to soar and develop a high level of passion, joy, optimism and
understanding within the individual. It gives the credence that one can challenge the world and pave a
path for one s self that will lead them to their visions and aspirations. This describes exactly why
building self confidence is vital and how crucial self confidence is to one s persona. Joy, courage and
self confidence go hand in hand. Courage, in the present perspective, refers to the capability of being
able to have faith despite the opposition or complications involved. Fear is the primary adversary of
self confidence and fulfilment. With courage, you overcome all limitations and doubts to follow your
accomplished targets. This predictably increases the likelihood of your success. Self confidence and
courage give the control to write one s own destiny. Helen Keller said, Optimism is the faith that leads
to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.
The denotation of confidence is the belief in oneself and one s powers or abilities. Everybody is

limited to the Texas state of America. This meant that the responses given represented the general
feeling among southern states as Texas is among the southern part of the country. Nevertheless, given
that no information was sought about where these nurses were trained, it is arguable that their
vocational training could have been distributed among all states in the nation or fairly among a
majority of the states. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, if the persons filling the questionnaires were not the nurses themselves; this would
greatly affect the integrity of the data collected. However, the large scope again makes up for this
weakness since a good number of respondents would give the honest and discrete information
required. The findings indicated that a good number of nurses are not confident with the way they
handle disaster situations. This is a common opinion among health professionals since many nurses
according to Veenema (2012) are often unprepared for emergencies. This is because they do not
anticipate the magnitude of some of the occurrences they experience. The research was thus a success
and indeed proved the hypothesis on nurse preparedness to disaster

Justice in Plato s The Republic Essay
Plato creates a seemingly invincible philosopher in The Republic. Socrates is able to refute all
arguments presented before him with ease. The discussion on justice in Book I of The Republic is one
such example. Socrates successfully refutes each different view of justice presented by Cephalus,
Polemarchus, and Thrasymachus. Socrates has not given us a definitive definition of justice, nor has
he refuted all views of justice, but as far as we are concerned in Book I, he is able to break down the
arguments of his companions.
Cephalus is the first to give his opinion of justice as simply speaking the truth and giving back what
one takes. In even simpler terms, it is to do the right thing. (Republic 331) Socrates argues that to give

Justice is the advantage of the stronger according to Thrasymachus. He even goes a step farther to say
that injustice is stronger and freer than justice, yet justice is the advantage of the stronger. Socrates
shows that justice is in the receiver of it, not the provider. According to Socrates, a just man will be the
healthier and happier man because he is wiser.
So it is not a question of Socrates refuting the views presented to him by these three men, but one of
the completeness of these views. Does Plato give each of these views a proper defense, or is he trying
to build up his glorified version of Socrates? Cephalus is not given much exposure in Book I so his
argument on justice is somewhat limited. But for Socrates, refuting a statement as simple as giving
back what one takes does not take very long. Cephalus s view is given its due consideration and his
purpose here is more than just to introduce an opinion of justice. Cephalus introduces the key subject
of justice by talking about leading a good life. Socrates is able to tie this to justice and later tie justice
to the soul.
Polemarchus and Thrasymachus are given more time in Book I. Polemarchus continues the argument
his father was making and takes it a step further to include discussions on friends and enemies.
Socrates is able to convince his opponent to agree with him, as he does with all his opponents. Are

Essay on Sociological Autobiography
My life started with my long and hard birth on July 14, 1993. I came into the world with a large
scream and was immediately placed into some sort of category. The doctors and nurses took a quick
look at me, and pronounced me as a girl. This social label of being a girl was now my gender, which is
something I had no say in. Every since that very moment in time where my parents were told I was a
girl, I have been treated according to my gender. This meant that my parents automatically dressed me
in pink, bought me dollhouses and kitchen sets and threw me Barbie themed birthday parties. Since I
was surrounded my whole entire life by these things, it was almost like second nature to think and act
the way that I did and still do. My ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I became intrigued and wanted to play with his toys because they became so much more interesting
then mine. When my grandmother saw that I was playing with trucks and enjoying it, she quickly
came over and grabbed them out of my hands, giving them back to the little boy I had taken them
from. She then explained to me that trucks were for boys not girls, and I should stick to using my pink
shovel and bucket set to make nice sandcastles. I didn t understand at that point what the big issue
was, it was just toys that were fun to play with, but I agreed with my grandmother because I didn t
want to get into trouble and from then on stuck to focusing on making sandcastles. I quickly forgot
about the trucks, and never again did I think to play with anything remotely like that. Little did I know
it, but that was one of the first examples of gender roles that I had been exposed too. Growing up, my
label of a female has given me both advantages and disadvantages. Having a younger brother has
given me a clearer view of how parents and family members socialize the both of us to act male or
female. Because I am a female, it was expected of me from a very early age to attend school and
university. There was never really a choice, it was either that or go straight into work, which was the
less pleasing option. However my brother is just expected to get his high school diploma and go work
for my father and take over our family business, which

A Summary Of The Injury In The Glass Castle
In Jeannette Walls s memoir, The Glass Castle, Jeannette and her siblings are constantly plagued with
various accidents and injuries, more so than typical children would be. Her parents have a carefree and
lenient approach to parenting, oftentimes leaving the children to fend for themselves or in perilous
situations. In The Glass Castle, Jeannette recounts some of the injuries she and her siblings suffer, the
reaction her parents have to those injuries, and the parallel episodes they refer to. One of the first
appalling instances of Jeanette s various accidents occurs when she is cooking hot dogs at the age of
three. Walls writes: ...when I stood up and started stirring the hot dogs again, I felt a blaze of heat on
my right side and realized my dress was on fire (9). As a result, Jeannette ended up having to be
covered in ice and given skin grafts due to the severity of her burns, despite this accident being
entirely preventable. While tragic, this occurred for a few reasons, first because she was much too
young to be maneuvering a hot stove, and furthermore because she was not being supervised by any
parent. Nonetheless, any adult could likely have noticed the fire and put it out more quickly had they
been in the room, leading to less acute injuries.
When Jeannette s mother did come, it was evident that she cared about the safety and well being of
her child: Mom ran into the room (9). Seeing as she came running rather than strolling, it can be
inferred that her mother is attentive and worried about her daughter; however, once in the hospital, her
father has an averse reaction to her injuries and the fact that she s in the hospital when he says: You
shouldn t be in this antiseptic joint (13). Most parents would fret over their child and let the hospital
do whatever they saw fit to help their child, but her father Rex doesn t trust the hospital and
potentially jeopardizes his daughter s health by not adhering to the hospital s recommendations. A
parallel episode to this tragic fire incident is when the family is staying at a hotel and are woken up in
the middle of the night by a fire. The whole building burns down, similar to how Jeanette s favorite
pink dress was completely singed and had to be cut

The Homework Behind The Joker Laugh For Suicide Squad
Jared Leto reveals the Homework Behind the Joker Laugh for Suicide Squad Certain characters
become immortal in the course of cinematic history because of their classic portrayal. The Joker is one
such character who became a rage after Heath Ledger put his heart and soul while playing the comic
book villain on screen. No wonder, the late actor was showered with widespread praise and also
bagged an Academy award for the role. His signature laugh became a trademark for The Joker and this
is why, when Jared Leto was selected to play the villain in Suicide Squad , he knew it was a huge
responsibility and would require unique preparation. So, he put himself entirely into the role so much
so that we did not listen from him. But now that the

The Problem Of Cell 13, By Jacques Futrelle
Everybody has something they love and are committed to. Unquestionably, in the short story, The
Problem of Cell 13, by Jacques Futrelle, Professor Augustus S.F.X. Van Dusen is not an exception.
The Thinking Machine, as he is colloquially known as, is challenged by associates Dr. Charles
Ransome and Mr. Alfred Fielding to escape from a high security prison cell using only his mind.
Being as passionate as he is about logic, he accepts. In the story, Futrelle conveys the human
experience of commitment by using descriptive literary devices, and emphasizing the dynamic
character Dr. Charles Ransome. One indisputably evident theme infused into The Problem of Cell 13
is if you believe in something, you should go to great lengths for it. ... Show more content on

Another example on page 249 reads, You might treat me precisely as you treated prisoners under
sentence of death, and I would leave the cell (Futrelle). This shows that The Thinking Machine is
claiming to be able to think his way out of a cell in order to document his claim. Because he is so
passionate about logic, he is willing to spend a week in this cell, and eventually succeeds at escaping.
Therefore,
Dr. Charles Ransome is a dynamic character. In the story, Dr. Ransome is a scientist who strongly
believes The Thinking Machine cannot escape a high security prison. An early attribute Dr. Ransome
carries is his doubtfulness giving rise to uncertainty ( Doubtful ). In fact, on page 249, Dr. Ransome
reasons, No man can think himself out of a cell (Futrelle). Although The Thinking Machine says he
can escape, Dr. Ransome still doubts the possibility of The Thinking Machine living up to his name
and thinking his way out of a cell. A conversation takes place on page 249 between The Thinking
Machine and Dr. Ransome: You might treat me precisely as you treated prisoners under the sentence
of death, and I would leave the cell.
Not unless you entered it with tools prepared to get out, said Dr. Ransome. (Futrelle)
Again, Dr. Ransome questions The Thinking Machine by arguing he could only escape prison using
tools. He plainy does not believe The Thinking Machine s theory of anything being possible. Because
Dr. Ransome is a dynamic character, he

International Mother Language Day Our Mother Language Day (21st February) UNESCO s declaration of 21st February as the International Mother Language Day has brought fresh glory and prestige to Bangladesh which is making significant strides towards peace, progress and prosperity at home and discharging international obligations abroad. After 1952, the people of Bangladesh have been observing every year the 21st day of February as their glorious and unforgettable Language Martyrs Day. What happened on 21st February 1952 is widely known. Still let us very briefly recount the fateful happenings of that day and the circumstances that led to and followed them. Yet so long, it has been mainly a national event of Bangladesh. But with the declaration of 21st February as the International Mother Language Day, it has transcended the national borders of Bangladesh and acquired an international significance and a global dimension. International Mother Language Day is particularly significant in the sense that it has a cultural importance. From now on, 21st February so long observed in Bangladesh as the Bangla Language Martyrs Day will be observed here simultaneously as the Bangla Language Martyrs Day and the International Mother Language Day. And in nearly 200 countries of the world, various peoples speaking various languages and belonging to various national cultures will observe 21st February as the International Mother Language Day. They will naturally celebrate their own mother languages, but while doing so, it is more than likely that they will refer to Bangladesh and the Language Movement launched by her people that reached a climactic point on 21st February 1952. The declaration made by the UNESCO in November 1999 designating 21st February as the International Mother Language Day has placed Bangladesh on the cultural map of the world with a highly positive image. Disegno, which means drawing, was the most important element in attempting to achieve perfection. Disengo was found not only in painting, but also in all areas of Florentine art. The importance of nature in Florentine resulted in the study of the natural world, anatomy, and movement. Artists would develop their concepts in detail on separate parchment paper and then transfer them. A work that represents disegno would be Leonardo Da Vinci, The Fetus and Lining of the Uterus. Leonardo used his technique of hatched shading and careful contours to create careful contours to describe volume and movement in two artfully posed figures (Sorabella 1). His drawings placed sensitivity on shading and the tones. In Venice, artists used the colorito, defined as color, to create work with a sense of life. The color palette used by Venetians was a slightly less vivid then Florentine palette, but the colors were layered and blended to achieve a glowing richness. Venetian artists gradually softened their coloring until their manner equaled nature. Venetians attempted to equal nature through the use of light and how light will affect the body. And unlike Florentine painting, compositions were placed directly on the canvas through colored brushstrokes. Titan s Venus and Adonis, is a good example of how Venetian artists used color to recreate nature. Titan is able to create the mood through intense color and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He was wrongfully convicted, yet unwilling to avoid his unjust execution. He is at once the most Athenian, citizenly, patriotic, and other regarding of philosophers and yet the most critical and self regarding of Athenians. Socrates claims to be a selfless benefactor of the polis in that he had exhausted his private resources in the pursuit of the public good (23b c, 30a, 31a c). Because he does what is good for his fellow citizens for whom he feels regard despite the danger to which this exposes him, Socrates claims to be a benefactor of the Athenians. He refers with pride to his record of military service and underlines that it was service to the democracy: When the commanders that you elected to command me stationed me at Potidaea and Amphipolis and Delion, I remained there like anyone else, and ran the risk of death (28e). He is an honorable citizen who disregards death and preaches that The difficulty, my friends, is not to avoid death, but to avoid unrighteousness; for that runs faster than death. He has demonstrated that he is, by his own right, a patriotic citizen who cares deeply about the good of his polis and one who consistently acts in what he sees as his city s best interests; but he has also shown also that, in light of his own definition of patriotism, Socrates must be regarded as a uniquely patriotic Athenian. • 6. Darwin´s Theory of Natural Selection and Primates Darwin s ideas about organic evolution were drawn from the existing forces of knowledge on evolution developed by Lyell, Malthus, and Lamarck. Although Darwin was not the first thinker about the concept of evolution, he was a revolutionary in developing a theory of evolution that was consistent. The distinctive element of the evolutionary theory conceived by Darwin is the way he viewed species. Darwin considered variation among individuals of a species to be natural. He further argued that variation, far from being problematic, actually provides the explanation for the existence of distinct species. Darwin adopted elements from Malthus s theory on population growth and stated that only those members of a population that are capable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... GROUP 2 B) After gaining a clear understanding of natural selection and its prominence in the theory of evolution, the possibility of linking human origin with its ancestors (Primates) has become clearer. Human evolution is characterized by a number of morphological, developmental, physiological, and behavioral changes but most interestingly the basis for such changes is in understanding the origins of humans. The Primate order indeed serves as the starting point for human evolution. The Primates are an ancient and diverse Eutherian group. Although Primates are considered as tropical animals that live in forest setting, yet they inhabit many kinds of landscapes and live in widely diverse climates. Primates are divided into two groups, the Strepsirhini and the Haplorhini. Strepsirhines have long muzzle, wet noses, lower incisors forming a toothcomb, nocturnal, and have an immobile upper lip. Haplorhines are further divided into two major groups, the Platyrrhini and the Catarrhini. Platyrrhines include the new world monkeys found mainly in the South and Central America. Psychology is the study of an organism s behaviour and mental processes and how they are effected by the organism s mental and physical environment. Psychology takes into consideration one s sensation and perception; consciousness; learning; memory; thinking, reasoning and language; and emotions and motivation. In an effort to fully understand these complex ideas, I experimented with visual and auditory impairment. I stimulated my visual impairment by tying a blind fold over my eyes in a relatively comfortable place and making sure minimal light got through. For the first half hour, I wondered around the house to get comfortable with my vision impairment. I went from the first floor of my house to the fourth floor on my own with no external help. On my way back up, I was given challenges to find certain things and to bring them to a certain area. As I did these tasks, I sensed that someone was close to me or in my social or intemet proximity; when anything happened, I was susceptible to the little noises I heard, and reacted immediately. This was orienting response. As I was walking back up to the first floor, I had to relearn some of my visual strategies to adapt with my current situation. He allows these characters a level of agency in which their actions are either punished or rewarded depending on the socially acceptable rules established by the patriarchal hierarchy in the play. Similarly, in Webster s Duchess of Malfi, a parallel examination is made where the Duchess is given a certain degree of agency and is ultimately killed for her actions in the play. Both Duchess in Middleton and Webster s plays, rebel against the patriarchal hierarchy and are punished by the male characters in the plays. The treatment of women in these plays constructs the ideal moral woman through inappropriately deemed actions. There were so many differences between Kanata and Edmonton both geographically and socially that he knew it would take some time before he felt comfortable in his new surroundings. But the frustration was also occurring at work where he felt there was a lot of resistance to new ideas and a lack of innovative thinking at the tech firm. Based on conversations with the HR Director, Stuart Miller, Schwartz learned that he was the first senior executive to ever be hired from outside of the GAI organization; all others were from the southern Alberta region and had moved up the ranks throughout the organization, including both the previous president and CEO. In addition to that, Schwartz was only the second senior executive to lead the firm since its creation in 1997. The principles ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The use of the 620 nurses was prudent as it provided a significant sample space to handle the possibility of bias. The scope of the research was however limited to the Texas state of America. This meant that the responses given represented the general feeling among southern states as Texas is among the southern part of the country. The discussion on justice in Book I of The Republic is one such example. Socrates successfully refutes each different view of justice presented by Cephalus, Polemarchus, and Thrasymachus. Socrates has not given us a definitive definition of justice, nor has he refuted all views of justice, but as far as we are concerned in Book I, he is able to break down the arguments of his companions. So it is not a question of Socrates refuting the views presented to him by these three men, but one of the completeness of these views. Does Plato give each of these views a proper defense, or is he trying to build up his glorified version of Socrates? A Summary Of The Injury In The Glass Castle In Jeannette Walls s memoir, The Glass Castle, Jeannette and her siblings are constantly plagued with various accidents and injuries, more so than typical children would be. Her parents have a carefree and lenient approach to parenting, oftentimes leaving the children to fend for themselves or in perilous situations. In The Glass Castle, Jeannette recounts some of the injuries she and her siblings suffer, the reaction her parents have to those injuries, and the parallel episodes they refer to. One of the first appalling instances of Jeanette s various accidents occurs when she is cooking hot dogs at the age of three. Walls writes: ...when I stood up and started stirring the hot dogs again, I felt a blaze of heat on my right side and realized my dress was on fire (9). As a result, Jeannette ended up having to be covered in ice and given skin grafts due to the severity of her burns, despite this accident being entirely preventable. While tragic, this occurred for a few reasons, first because she was much too young to be maneuvering a hot stove, and furthermore because she was not being supervised by any parent. Nonetheless, any adult could likely have noticed the fire and put it out more quickly had they been in the room, leading to less acute injuries. When Jeannette s mother did come, it was evident that she cared about the safety and well being of her child: Mom ran into the room (9). Seeing as she came running rather than strolling, it can be inferred that her mother is attentive and worried about her daughter; however, once in the hospital, her father has an averse reaction to her injuries and the fact that she s in the hospital when he says: You shouldn t be in this antiseptic joint (13). Most parents would fret over their child and let the hospital do whatever they saw fit to help their child, but her father Rex doesn t trust the hospital and potentially jeopardizes his daughter s health by not adhering to the hospital s recommendations.
