This document describes the tools available in Photoshop and their uses. It discusses 21 different tools including the move, marquee, lasso, quick selection, crop, eye dropper, brush, stamp, eraser, gradient, smudge, dodge, pen, horizontal type, direct selection, custom shape, hand, and zoom tools. 2. Move tool
Move tool allow you to shift or
move your object with the use of
mouse or keyboard key. The move
tool is located at the top of the
photoshop tool bar. We can use
move tool with shift key to move in
larger increments.
3. Marquee tool
Marquee tool is very important tool in
photoshop, this tool is used for making
shape (rectangle, circle, ellipse,
square, single row & single column).
This tool is also use for draw selection;
this tool is also used for content aware.
This tool is located 2nd position in the
photoshop tool bar.
4. lasso tool
Lasso tool is used for use purpose,
we can draw an object or shape
with the use of lasso tool & we can
also use lasso tool to select some
part of image. This tool is located
3rd position in the photoshop tool
bar.

10. Eye drop tool
Eyedropper tool allows you to change
foreground or background colours by
lifting them from the image. Using the
Eyedropper tool can be found in handy
when you wish to sample an existing
colour in an image for use in an
additional aspect. This tool is located
6th position in the photoshop tool bar.

12. Brush tool
Brush tool is basically a paint
tool, it work like paint tool like
to apply colour on object to
change the colour, replace and

Stamp tool selects and samples an
area of your picture and then uses
these pixels to paint over any
marks. The Stamp tool acts like
a brush so you can change the size,
allowing cloning from just one pixel
wide to hundreds. This tool is located
8th position in the photoshop tool bar.
16. Eraser tool
Eraser tool allow you to Eraser
Background and
Magic Eraser. The eraser is
basically a brush which erases
pixels as you drag it
across the image. Pixels are
erased to transparency

colours in your photos. You can

20. Smudge tool
Smudge tool is a feature that allows
you to mix or blend the content in an
area of your image. It is included
among the program’s Focus tools and
works a lot like painting in real life.
Used correctly, this tool can help you
create a variety of unique artistic
effects.
22. Dodge tool
Dodge tool and the Burn tool lighten or
darken areas of the image. These tools are
based on a traditional darkroom technique
for regulating exposure on specific areas of
a print. Photographers hold back light to
lighten an area on the print (dodging) or
increase the exposure to darken areas on a
print (burning). The more you paint over an
area with the Dodge or Burn tool, the lighter
or darker it becomes.
24. Pen tool
Pen Tool creates paths and shapes
which can be duplicated and
manipulated to create complex
selections, masks and objects.
Unlike the Brush Tool and Pencil Tools,
which “draw” pixels onto your
image, the Pen Tool always creates a
vector path.
