2. BLENDED LEARNING AND EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING
• Blended Learning in Higher education
• How does technology support the study abroad
experiential learning model?
• CMS: Moodle in support of the experience
• Moodle and web 2.0: sharing the field study
experience.
3. WHAT IS BLENDED LEARNING ?
“A blended learning approach combines
face to face classroom methods with
computer-mediated activities to form an
integrated instructional approach. In the

supplementary role, helping to support
face to face instruction.”

4. WHAT IS BLENDED LEARNING ?
“Blended learning preserves the necessary
consideration of how people learn, offers
options for learning, improves learner
retention, increases completion rates for
learning programmes, and has been shown
to produce measurable savings in learning
offerings.”

6. BLENDED LEARNING
• Emergence of blended learning approaches in higher Ed
have been a direct result of resent advances in technology.
• ITC has not created BL but increased its growth.
• In 2002, the president of Pennsylvania State University
expressed his belief that blended learning was “the single
greatest unrecognized trend in higher education” (Young,
2002, p. A33).
• The American Society for Training and Development also
identified blended learning as one of the top 10 emergent
