Factual Evaluation.
Did your work turn out as planned?
• I think that my intentions have been realised to a decent level. I have
loosely stuck to the plan that I set out to do. But I do not think that I have
fully met my intentions. I am happy with my multi page article, I think it is
written to a good standard and is layed out well. I think that I could have
done the fact files and infographics a bit better though, as they are just a
bit too simple. On a basic level however, I have achieved what I set out to,
which was to make a magazine based on Star Wars that included a multi
page article with various graphic elements. Something that I think that I
should have done before I started production was to properly plan out all
of my pages and do a quick mock up so that I could be more efficient with
my production, which has taken longer than I expected.
• One thing that I should have done is named all of the files the correct
names, as I spent a lot of time looking for the files rather than just being
able to open them.
Is your fanzine appropriate to its target
audience?
• I think that it is appropriate to its audience, as it is aimed at Star Wars
fans. It isn't aimed at a specific section of the Star Wars fan base, for
example age or gender, but instead it is aimed at all fans, as there is
such a variation in the fan base.
• If I put more effort into finding a target audience before production I
could have better tailored the magazine to a more specific audience.
• One way that I think that isn't fit for its audience is the facts that I
have included. Most people who would want to read a fan made
magazine would already know mot of these facts as they are pretty
dedicated fans. Maybe I could put more interesting facts in the make
it more readable fir Star Wars fans.
Is the content good?
• I think that the content that I have produced is OK. I am happy with
the multi page article that I have made. However I think that I could
have done a lot more with all of the other graphics work.
• I think something that I could have done better was order the pieces
better so that they flow like one whole piece of work rather than just
a few unrelated bits of work but in the same book.
The Skills I have used.
• Pagination: I have used pagination in order to plan out the order of
my pages when they are in print form, in order to get the physical
copy of the fanzine.
• Photoshop: I have used Photoshop to place my images and graphics
where I wanted them to go before putting them in InDesign.
• InDesign: I used InDesign to place my text into the right places once I
put the images in through Photoshop.
