   The College of Continuing and
    Professional Education offers hundreds
    of classes in the classroom and online.
    Our focus is on professional
    development, but we also offer a variety
    of life enrichment classes.
   In 2011 alone, over 22,500 students
    came through our program.
   Our College awards certificates in a
    variety of programs:
     Healthcare
     Project management
     HR
     Paralegal,
     Management
     Meeting & event planning
     Technical writing
     Web design -- just to name a few.
Because a traditional four-year degree is not a perfect
fit for everyone, we are offering another route to career
success. These training programs make sense for you
if you’d rather train for several months than several
years, but you will still be part of Kennesaw State
University.
Over 40 certificate training programs have been
identified as possible courses for young adults
looking for direct career training in a matter of
months.
Your certificate programs focus only on studies that directly
relate to the training field, with no core classes required. In
addition, students training through the Futures program do not
have to submit SAT/ACT test scores or transcripts and are not
required to go through the regular university admission process.

   Active duty and honorably discharged members of the
    Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines may qualify for
    military education benefits.

   VA reimbursement follows VA regulations for certificate
    programs.

   Spouses of active duty and activated National Guard
    and Reserve Service members are eligible.

   CobbWorksYouth ASSETS' services address challenges faced by
    the region's youth who are from low income families, school
    dropouts, runaways, homeless, youth with disabilities,
    juvenile offender, or in the foster care system.
   Young people, 14-21 years of age, interested in full-year youth
    programs funded by the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) must
    be low income and possess significant and defined barriers to
    education and employment.
   The program provides youth with a broad range of year-round
    coordinated services. These services include assistance in
    academic and occupational learning, development of
    leadership skills, and preparation for further education,
    additional training and eventual employment.
   To apply for the WIA grant, contact the One-Stop
    Workforce Center for the county in which you reside, or the
    county where you worked when you were laid off from
    employment. The web address for the list of One Stop
    Workforce Centers is:

   The WIA application process takes several weeks, so
    please don't delay in getting started. Once WIA grant
    approval is awarded by the One-Stop Workforce Center,
    contact Continuing Education's Registration at
    cefinancialaid@kennesaw.edu for a Letter of Acceptance.

  Coding (Medical Office Assistant, Medical
         Billing & Coding Specialist)
   The new program, now known as
    Veterans Retraining Assistance Program
    (VRAP), will offer up to 12 months of
    Montgomery GI Bill benefits for older
    unemployed veterans. The program is
    part of the VOW to Hire Heroes Act which
    also includes tax breaks for companies
    that hire veterans.
 Thatmeans that pre-9/11
 veterans who often feel left out,
 may soon qualify for as much
 as $17,600 ($1473 a month)
 for education and training.
 Here’s what you should know
 about the new VRAP:
 This benefit can be used to earn an associate
  degree, non-college degree, or certification, and
  training for a high demand occupation.
 According to the VA, the program will begin July
  1, 2012.
 This new benefit will be limited to 45K vets in
  FY2012 and 54K for FY 2013 through March 31,
  2014.
 Once participating veterans have completed the
  VRAP education program, the Dept. of Labor will
  provide employment assistance.
   To be eligible for the VRAP GI
    Bill Veterans must:
   Be at least 35 but no more than 60 years old.
   Be unemployed (as determined by DoL).
   Not have a dishonorable discharge.
   Not be eligible for any other VA education benefit
    program.
   Not be drawing VA compensation due to
    unemployability.
   Not be enrolled in a federal or state job training
    program.

  • 2. The College of Continuing and Professional Education offers hundreds of classes in the classroom and online. Our focus is on professional development, but we also offer a variety of life enrichment classes.  In 2011 alone, over 22,500 students came through our program.
  • 3. Our College awards certificates in a variety of programs:  Healthcare  Project management  HR  Paralegal,  Management  Meeting & event planning  Technical writing  Web design -- just to name a few.
  • 4. Because a traditional four-year degree is not a perfect fit for everyone, we are offering another route to career success. These training programs make sense for you if you’d rather train for several months than several years, but you will still be part of Kennesaw State University.
  • 5. Over 40 certificate training programs have been identified as possible courses for young adults looking for direct career training in a matter of months.
  • 6. Your certificate programs focus only on studies that directly relate to the training field, with no core classes required. In addition, students training through the Futures program do not have to submit SAT/ACT test scores or transcripts and are not required to go through the regular university admission process.

  • 9. Financial Aid The following are financial aid options:  Continuing Education Loans  Employer Educational Vouchers  Military Education Benefits (VA GI Bill (Ch. 30, 31, 33 Post-9/11, 35) and TA)  MyCAA - Military Spouse Career Advancement Account  Workforce Investment Act Funds (WIA)

Financial Aid Military Educational Benefits  VA GI Bill: Chapters 30, 31, 33 Post-9/11 and 35  Active duty and honorably discharged members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines may qualify for military education benefits.  VA reimbursement follows VA regulations for certificate programs.  Education Office: 1-888-GIBILL1 http://www.gibill.va.gov.

Financial Aid MyCAA  Offers up to $4,000 to military spouses.  Spouses of active duty and activated National Guard and Reserve Service members are eligible.  Military spouses who are military members themselves are not eligible.  https://aiportal.acc.af.mil/mycaa.  OneSource Career Consultant at 1-800-342-9647.

CobbWorksYouth ASSETS' services address challenges faced by the region's youth who are from low income families, school dropouts, runaways, homeless, youth with disabilities, juvenile offender, or in the foster care system.  Young people, 14-21 years of age, interested in full-year youth programs funded by the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) must be low income and possess significant and defined barriers to education and employment.  The program provides youth with a broad range of year-round coordinated services. These services include assistance in academic and occupational learning, development of leadership skills, and preparation for further education, additional training and eventual employment.
  • 13. To apply for the WIA grant, contact the One-Stop Workforce Center for the county in which you reside, or the county where you worked when you were laid off from employment. The web address for the list of One Stop Workforce Centers is: http://www.dol.state.ga.us/find_one_stop_centers.htm.  The WIA application process takes several weeks, so please don't delay in getting started. Once WIA grant approval is awarded by the One-Stop Workforce Center, contact Continuing Education's Registration at cefinancialaid@kennesaw.edu for a Letter of Acceptance.

  • 19. The new program, now known as Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP), will offer up to 12 months of Montgomery GI Bill benefits for older unemployed veterans. The program is part of the VOW to Hire Heroes Act which also includes tax breaks for companies that hire veterans.
  • 20.  Thatmeans that pre-9/11 veterans who often feel left out, may soon qualify for as much as $17,600 ($1473 a month) for education and training. Here’s what you should know about the new VRAP:
  • 21.  This benefit can be used to earn an associate degree, non-college degree, or certification, and training for a high demand occupation.  According to the VA, the program will begin July 1, 2012.  This new benefit will be limited to 45K vets in FY2012 and 54K for FY 2013 through March 31, 2014.  Once participating veterans have completed the VRAP education program, the Dept. of Labor will provide employment assistance.
  • 22. To be eligible for the VRAP GI Bill Veterans must:  Be at least 35 but no more than 60 years old.  Be unemployed (as determined by DoL).  Not have a dishonorable discharge.  Not be eligible for any other VA education benefit program.  Not be drawing VA compensation due to unemployability.  Not be enrolled in a federal or state job training program.
