 The Practical Nursing program is a 4 semester (excluding
core), full-time, day program offered on Moultrie
Industrial Drive Campus and the Tifton Campus.
 The Practical Nursing Program prepares the students for
the NCLEX-PN for licensure as Practical Nurse.

available as a Licensed Practical Nurse, to include:
Physician Offices, Nursing Homes, Hospitals, Ambulatory
Surgery Centers, Travel Nursing
 Job Placement: Practical Nursing graduates are employed

 Salary: The following are estimates based on employment
trends in this area. $12.00-$15.00 per hour depending on
place of employment and shift.

6. Additional Program Requirements
Clinical: Located at various hospitals, local long term care
facilites, Various physicians’ offices, Health Department,
Green Oaks, Southwestern State Hospital.
Our clinical days are typically Wednesday and Thursdays.
Clinical hours are from 6:30 am to 4:00 pm. Clinical hours will
vary depending on the site.

7. Additional Program Requirements
 Uniforms: Approximate cost $120.00-$200.00
 Pre-Clinical Requirements: Random Drug and Alcohol
Screen on instructors command, physical exam, TB skin
test, Up-to-date immunizations and criminal background
check. Note: these tests are only valid for one year.
Approximate cost is $500 (including immunizations that
are necessary)
 Licensing Exam Fees: $250.00 due during 4th semester
for NCLEX exam review course. $290.00 for NCLEX-PN
exam, background check for Board and license due 4th
semester.

 How often we register?
 You can register for core courses any semester. The program
courses begin every Fall and Spring on Moultrie Campus and
the Tifton Campus.
 What is the procedure to register each semester?
 Contact your program advisor through e-mail or in person
during new student registration day or pre-registration week.
 How often is the competitive admission process?
 Competitive Admissions for the Practical Nursing program
courses occur in the Fall and Spring each year for the Moultrie
and Tifton Campuses (effective July 2010).

 The PNSG occupational courses are the basis of your nursing knowledge
and in order to be successful on the NCLEX –PN, you must get the most out
of these courses. In order to progress through the program, a student must
achieve a 75% overall average in each PNSG course.

on up to date publisher pricing.

 When do I need to attend the Mandatory Orientation?
 Students should attend the Mandatory Orientation in either
summer or fall semesters. They should complete their core
courses in summer or fall semester or have completed their
core courses when they attend.
 Why is there a competitive process for nursing?
 Our program must follow the LPN Board Rules for
educational programs. According to rule 400-3-08, there
can be no more than 10 students per instructor in the
clinical setting. This number allows for better instructional
time for each student and the best possible clinical
experiences.

 This is an entrance exam that tests knowledge in several
areas including science, reading comprehension and math.

They also have an information sheet with practice questions
that will be handed out in the Mandatory Orientation. To
ensure you are rested and ready for the exam, get a good
night’s sleep the night before. Eat breakfast or lunch before
taking the exam (depending on your appointment time).
