2. Section 1
Product research
We aim to achieve this type of a
camera effect, it is black and
white, grainy and not high quality.
We also aim to have a set of
advise, we want to section our
film by this and use some tips
for the defenders.
3. Section 2
Product research
The chosen genre of our short film is
a black comedy horror based on
zombies.
The research into different
products has lead us to a
range conventions to be
done in our film, such as,
the location of the shoot,
the props and costume,
and the physicality of the
chosen actors.
The main element
we’re trying to avoid is
making our product
come across as foolish
and not to be too
ambitious
Our research has told
us that being
humorous can be
challenging and can
easily be done wrong.
4. Section 3
Audience
The target audience for
our short film would be
mainly teenagers and
young adults. Aged
around 15-25
The age restriction
would be 15, this is to
make sure we have a
large an audience as
possible.
We would mainly
target a male
audience, due to the
violence involved in
the short film.
Our target audience of the
teenage and young adult
between the ages of 15-25,
would mainly consume
other media types such as:
Magazines
Computer games
Social networking sites
Television (mainly comedy)
5. Section 3
Research
Our research shows that from the choice of Zombies we
gave them, that Zombie one was the most
scariest/appealing. So the audiences expectations would
have to be met by including some kind of uniformed
Zombie.
Horror 1
Also in our research we paid attention to
the comic side of Zombie/Horror films by
asking “What word would you associate
with a slow moving Zombie?” with the
majority of people saying it’s a parody so
this may be included but with violence to
contribute to the dark humour of the film.

Editor's Notes
We have researched a number of short films and films in general, this includes Zombie land, what to do in a zombie attack.... (any others?) We have decided we want to make the short film based on the Zombie land style in which they tell you how to protect your self from an attack! We also want to base it on a 1950s nuclear war warning, with the black and white fuzzy style of camera and the muffled voices.
The research into different products our group has carried out has lead us to specific conventions to be done in our film, such as, the location of the shoot, the props and costume, and the physicality of the chosen actors. One thing we must be careful about is the comedy factor. Our research has told us that being humorous can be challenging and can easily be done wrong.
The main element we’re trying to avoid is making our product come across as foolish and not to be too ambitious with the comedy and
- The target audience for our short film would be mainly teenagers and young adults. Aged around 15-25
- Our film would be rated as a 15. As this would be the best age for teenagers and young adults to be able to see the film in the cinemas and also buy out DVD.
We would mainly target a male audience, due to the violence involved in the short film.
- Our target audience of the teenage and young adult who would mainly be male between the ages of 15-25, would mainly consume other media types such as:
Magazines
Computer games
Social networking sites
Television (mainly comedy)
The questionnaires show that the audience expect a lot of violence so we hope to exceed these expectations by including as much gore as possible.
For example “what weapon would you use in a Zombie confrontation?”, the result is a baseball bat.
“What do you expect from a Zombie film?” the result for that question was Violence/Gore from 60% of people we asked.
