BACKGROUND
• The concept of language awareness is not new. Van Essen,
Donmall and Van lier are conceptulised this idea of Language
awareness in different ways
• It is closely related to the whole language movement which
started in the US in the 1970

HOW CAN STUDENT’S LANGUAGE AWARENESS BE
INCREASED?
• Learn concept in SL through an Examination of their own
language’s structure
• Word etymology can also be used to see patterns in word
formation and related meanings

• Many Activities that can done
to help students in increasing
their own language awareness.

• Open Discussion
• Language variation or Dialect
CURRENT AND FUTURE TRENDS AND DIRECTIONS
• Language Awareness has created an identity that assures it a place
within educational linguistics.
• A number of researchers are now looking at this Language studies
including awareness and linguistic
CONCLUSION
• Language awareness is part of what the teachers, choose
to teach. As language teacher know, there is much more
to a language than simply knowing vocabulary and
grammar; reproducing them in either written or oral form.
