This presentation provides an overview of civets, including: 1. Civets are nocturnal, omnivorous mammals found in tropical Asia and Africa that resemble cats. They have thickly furred tails, small ears, and pointed snouts. 2. Two common civet species are discussed: the Asian palm civet and the African civet. 3. Civets face threats from habitat loss and the cruel practice of caging them to produce the expensive coffee "Kopi Luwak."
