EduCloud Summer School 2012: Beware of the (I)Kids

  • 4. iKids are all around, they collect information , they play, express themselves and experiment with whatever is available to them. iKids of all ages are like sponges in absorbing their environment:it is their experimental LABORATORY.
  • 5. iKIDS are in our house:reading and playing . A 3-year-old “swipes” a tablet and “reads“ the adventures of MIFFY

  • 11. iKids are no longer locked up between(school)walls:active learning takes place on a global scale. iKids learn,communicate,share information and cooperate while crossing time-zones and national borders.

  • 13. iKids are NOT in a specific developmental phase but in a(in)formal lifelong – everywhere-anytime-learning- situation. iKids exemplify an attitude,a lifestyle,a learningstyle, a way of life.
  • 14. iKids and iEducation are best developed in a social, re-constructive EduCloud environment
  • 15.   • 21. New forms,strategies and educational focus: -in curriculum + content. -in learning. -in teaching/supervision. -in where learning/teaching occurs. -in infrastructure + media.
  • 22. iKids(+schools) are in need of a clear educational focus:
  • 23. The curriculum is a mind altering device:the school’s toolbox.
  • 24. Formal and informal education develops+creates the iKids-mind(s)+backpacks for present+future.
  • 25. Informal education/experience often takes place in outside- school settings. iKids/iTeachers are experts in blending outcomes of formal and informal schooling
  • 26. Learning/development occurs in individual activities in iKids and artKids(and their iCoaches)
  • 27. Development in iKids occurs in group-activities as well: creation-sharing-collaboration.
  • 28. iKids are ageless;iKid is a life-style, an attitude, a life-long challenge.
  • 29. Teaching/Supervision/Coaching iKids are best developed in a variety of teachingstrategies

  • 31. A variety in learningstyles is visible in iKids:a variety in teachingstyles is therefore needed.Single+multi-tasking- single+multi-modality in iKids +iTeachers/Coaches are crucial.

  • 34. Media available at home = available in school as well.
  • 37. Recording-storing and documenting the process +product of learning is essential in creative- sharing-social/re- constructive learning.
  • 38. In the iKids-era however EduCloud is more adequate+costs-saving.
  • 39. EduCloud-technology applied in schools means that education can take place EVERYWHERE, ANYTIME. EVERYTHING is accessable for EVERYONE having the log-in code. In the EduCloud students are building up their process/product portfolio for personal, assessment+ cv-purposes .
  • 40. In times of the iKids, smart+traditional strategies+interactive devices, balanced out with a sharp eye,are needed for high quality education.
  • 41. Technology facilitates iKids and iTeachers to share ownership and responsibility for up-to-date collaborative learning and teaching
