Irn bru pro forma
My research was very productive and allowed me to look at existing ideas so I could get designs to help me with the final production process. In research is
where I decided my audience and what they were going to be like, for example their age. There are many different ways to carry out research and planning
such as mind maps, mood board, note pages, story boards and document sheets. I do not think I could have changed anything to better my research, it
had everything included in and more and it was extremely detailed and understanding so you could clearly see where I was heading for with this project.
My planning allowed me to generate different ideas so I could allow myself to decide what to make for my Tv advert, advergame and posters throughout
the project. I generated many different ideas by using mind maps that went into detail about specific things, as well as lots of ideas that I wasn’t going to
carry through on my final product. I do not think that I could have changed anything on my planning slides.
I think that all my work has been fairly great and whilst working on
this project my work has kept getting better which you can see very
clearly, I am hoping to keep getting better on every piece of work I
do from later on, which I still can do. My work I have done has stuck
to my planning and I followed it through to the end, it turned out
good and related to the criteria of Irn-Bru. The PowerPoint which
included all the information and detail was very helpful and made
me push myself further on all of my work including this evaluation
which I believe I have met all criteria that it was expecting me to
include.
Overview
3. Print Advert workThese are my finished and final posters for the Irn-Bru project. I thought that they were very good and well made posters
and that they really related to the criteria for Irn-Bru and the style and theme that I went for across this project. The colours
included on are simple but effective and they work better than any other colours because they are the colours of Irn-Bru, I
would’ve definitely not changed them. The font was the same across the print adverts and it was big and bold which I think
was a really good choice because it relates to the Irn-Bru font style. I think that my best poster that was made for this
project was the center one. The middle one in my opinion cannot be changed to improve in any way, I like it exactly how it
is and it fits into the theme of many other Irn-Bru print adverts as it is simple and looks quite old which really helps with
relating to the audience who are of the middle older generation between 25-39. This print advert was a screenshot from
my Tv Advert which made it much easier to link but it didn’t link to my advergame in any way so I decided to do that the
best I could so I changed the background of it and although it didn’t look as a good, it still worked as an Irn-Bru advert but it
looks a lot like a Christmas one. Too make this project more interesting I created a portrait poster as well as a landscape and
with this one I really decided to link it too my game, by including the characters in it, this one had no problems really but I
got some feedback from a teacher saying that the title was a bit hard too read because it was behind the orange light, so I
fixed it up by putting that in front and it still looks just as good but it is now more readable. Next time I make a poster for
another project I am going to make it more complex by learning even more effect tutorials on Photoshop.
These posters all have the same lines of appeal and factors of persuasion that include Lines of appeal Comedy & humour
because it includes a funny message alongside the image which makes sense and relates to my style, nature & the natural
world in the sense that my background on the center poster has a background which was all grass and trees before I added
a threshold on to it. Finally, dreams and fantasy, this appeal is used due to the fact that the posters backgrounds are
supposed to be space backgrounds with stars to make the irn-bru seem out of this world. I made these a part of my poster
because Irn-Bru do that with theirs and I believe that it works quite well for them as a business, so to continue with the
theme I made mine in a similar style. The Factors of persuasion that have been used are reward power: the product
promises some positive benefit, which it does it promises that Irn-Bru is a great drink and will make you feel fantastic upon
drinking it. Another persuasion method which was included is coercive power: the product is presented upon pain of threat
or punishment. This is included because the slogan states “They can take our lives”. I have done this for a selling persuasion
technique because it makes it seem that Irn-Bru is that much of a fantastic drink because you'd rather get rid off yourself.
My final included persuasion method is referent power: the message associated with the product fits into the reader's
value system which in my opinion it does because it is very funny, which is the same style as every other Irn-Bru poster
made so far and people will really want to buy it.
4. Tv Adverts
My irn-bru advert is a linear narrative advert because it just keeps
telling a story with a beginning, middle and an end, it has absolutely
no special effects, for example a flashback. It is also a realistic
narrative because nothing which is filmed or said is made up in any
way, I did these to keep it fairly simple but most times simple is better,
especially in the case of Irn-Bru. The only factor of persuasion used is
reward power: the product promises some positive benefit, which it
does it makes out that Irn-Bru is better than any other drink and that
you will feel better after drinking it, I did this too link with Irn-Bru’s
theme just like my poster. My advert is a documentary and part
parody as it tells a story going through with a narrative voice over, as
well as it relating to the movie Braveheart which is a Scottish popular
film that suits the genre and theme well, it was before I changed it
more like a mockumentary but it seemed a bit more all over the place
so to improve I changed it too what you see now I did this too make it
more interesting and appealing. This advert was pretty good and
could not be changed in many ways apart from the one shot where
the man runs up behind the man holding the drink and then the shot
changes to smacking it out of his hand. This was filmed outside on a
flat field so there wasn’t too much to worry about in the background,
the only concern was the background colours changing depending on
the weather so I adjusted them all too a similar colour on every shot
using the options in premier. I decided to include a slogan in my
adverts which would link them all together and this was an effective
idea because then the audience could understand the adverts as a
whole even just by seeing one. Maybe to change my advert for the
better I could have included some better effects and such, for
example, after the irn-bru is drank I could have included something
were it links to my space poster theme but I thought that it was good
were it was at and decided not to change anything. This suited the
target audience well and I think that it will be very popular with them.

6. Print advert comparison
My poster has many similarities and differences between
other already made posters to advertise Irn-Bru.
This poster is not one by Irn-Bru, however it has
the similarities between them with mine, because
its background was a normal picture of a ocean
and it has been changed to the colours orange
and blue exactly like mine. However this one is
more like a painting and it is much more complex,
whereas mine is more simple. This poster includes
the line of appeal, glamorous places which is very
different and in my opinion wouldn't’t work with
Irn-Bru because it is not really there style.
These print adverts are official Irn-Bru ones and
they are very simple but they are effective and
work very well. They are short by just including
one image, a plain orange background and a
comedic selling line, like mine which includes one
simple image of a man holding a can and a
background which is of 2 different colours. Most
of the irn-bru adverts all have similar lines of
appeal, they all have Nature & the natural world
which appear in them and a lot of comedy and
humour, which I believe is what their brand is all
about. Irn-bru go for this old look which works
well with its simplicity and I have done something
exactly like this with my poster.
The reason why Irn-Bru like to use comedy and humour is
because it attracts the attention of the audience more, it
makes them laugh, making them more interested in buying
the drink, the reason why sometimes the humour is a bit
more deeper is because their intended target audience is
older people so they have to make their jokes a lot more
funnier to reach that intended audience. This is not
included a lot in irn-bru but the factor of persuasion of
harm is only included to link to the comedy of this
message, exactly like in my advert, as too not offend
anybody.

This Irn bru advert does not have any similarities in it with my advert really at all and I couldn't’t really find any other Irn-Bru adverts which have a
similarity with my advert which in a sense is very good. It means that my advert is unique and different to all others so it has its own style but its
over all the sense and message is the same as every other Irn-Bru Tv advert. All Irn-Bru adverts tend too be a lot more comedic and humorous than
mine, sticking with their theme but I think although my theme is different it conveys the message across just as well and could be used as one of
Irn-Bru’s actual Tv adverts. My Irn-Bru Ad does not have any special effects just like other Irn-Bru adverts so I have created a very similar style to
already existing ones. Irn-Bru adverts don’t really have any factors of persuasion because it is not presented on any pain or punishment, as well as
it not being presented by an expert or associated with a celebrity, which is again the style that they go with, they do this to make it special and
unique, and you cant really find an Irn-bru ad that’s the same as another.

This advert is an official one for Christmas season, it is a parody, which just means it was a clip
taken from a famous film, they have done this because many people know it and it is very
popular, making people who haven't ever tried Irn-Bru before like it because of this advert.
This advert could link with my poster the one that looks Christmassy to make it a seasonal
advertisement. Seasonal is better because it makes it seem like an all round year drink so
people can buy it at any time and still enjoy it. The audience for Irn-Bru is older but again in
this advertisement it is for a much younger audience mainly because it is from a child's movie.
Continuing from their entire theme which seems to
be the same throughout in all of the forms of
advertising, Irn-Bru has yet again stuck with the
comedy and humour line of appeal, again they use
this because it attracts the attention of the
audience more, it makes them laugh, making them
more interested in buying the drink.

8. Advergame Comparison
My advergame has so many similarities with other professional advergame including the simplicity of
them, they all seem very simple like games but they are very effective. My advergame however has a
much better starting screen with all the options and this makes it seem like a lot of work has gone into
this game and you can get different ways too play it instead of just one, this is to make it more
interesting. All advergame are based off of an actual game however mine includes an actual character
from a game it is just redesigned and I have done this because he seemed like a suitable candidate
character, his animations were already planned, next time however when I am doing animation on
another project I am definitely going to design everything myself.
These Irn-Bru advergame are very bright and colourful, I tried a different approach
with mine and made it much darker, I did this to relate to the dark humour which I
included in smacking things but now I think about it it isn't really Irn-Bru’s style but
that doesn't’t matter, I still think as a game it works. One of the major parts I don’t like
about my game is the title, unlike Irn-Bru who use puns as titles that are funny and still
link with there theme on every other advertisement method. With the advergame you
only get one go before you can restart and stop playing and in my opinion this is a
much better idea for a game like mine because then people wont get as bored playing
it for a long length of time because they can strive to get more and more every time
that it is played. These games have absolutely no special skills for advertising they are
just fun games which you can played sometimes not even for the Irn-Bru, just for fun.
Which is a great message from Irn-Bru, their more just like chill out and relax because
it stressful, which can relate to the target audience because they have important
things going on in life. My advergame has violence but it isn't harsh violence it is
comedic violence and I have done this because it relates to the style of every other
advertisement method I have done.
