The Sonora Cross Country team raced Friday at the Twilight Classic at Shadow Mountain Park, in
Sparks, NV. All races were 2.48 miles. Jackson Mcllroy finished first out of 64 runner and six teams
with a time of 13:39. He beat his 2014 time by 41 seconds. Patrick McConnell came in ninth with
14:31; Ian Smith 17th with 15:15; Kiernan Kostlivy 41st, 16:53 and Gonzalo Pazoz finished 62nd
with 18:44. Jackson (Mcllroy) had a great start and owned his race, said Sonora head coach Glenn
Bass. He would have also won the large school race. Patrick (McConnell) looked very strong and did
a nice PR for the course. Ian (Smith) PR d by almost a full minute. Kiernan (Kostlivy) did a fine job
and gained some great experience. Gonzalo (Pazoz) ran his first ever cross country race, with some

They finished behind South Tahoe, 35; Dayton, 76; and Selma, 87. The Cats finished in front of Sierra
Lutheran, who finished with a score of 90, Cassie Land finished first out of 26 girls with a final time
of 15:18. She, like Mcllroy, improved from her 2014 time by 50 seconds. Victoria French was the
third to cross the finish line with a time of 16:47; Matteson Burgess finished 10th with a 18:13;
Kaarina Thompson finished 15th with a 19:03; Natalie Hawks came in 16th with 19:04, and Kennedy
Bruce finished in 18th place with a 19:21. Cassie also had another fantastic race won by 27 seconds,
and set a new PR, Bass said. Victoria (French) ran well despite feeling under the weather and ran a
new PR for this course. Matteson (Burgess) just cruised. I missed her at the mile mark because she
was faster than I had expected. Kaarina (Thompson) and Natalie (Hawks) cruised the course together
and finished strong. Kaarina s new PR was outstanding and all her hard work is showing. What a treat

What Were The Primary Reasons For The Fall Of Rome
What were the primary reasons for the fall of Rome? Here are some of the three main reasons why the
Roman Empire fell, and the causes of this fall. To start of with in the second year of the reign of Valens
in 366 ce a disaster happened..an earthquake came upon the roman empire and destroyed numerous
amounts of cities. But the roman empire was not prepared for this earthquake, this caused many
deaths. Also shores were left dry in the mediterranean but then the tide returned very soon with the
weight of a flood which returned on the coasts of Sicily,Greece, and Egypt, all of this caused over fifty
thousand deaths in the city of Alexandria. After that then plagues swept over the empire which brought
all kinds of diseases from southern asia.

An Essay On The Pantheon
The Pantheon, whose name gets from the ancient Greek and signifies common to all the gods : Pan
means all , and Theon means gods , is the best preserved building from ancient Rome. Its magnificent
dome is a lasting testimony to the genius of Roman architects and as the building stands virtually
intact. The purpose of the building is not known for certain but rather the name, porch and pediment
decoration suggest a temple or something to that influence. Be that as it may, no faction is known not
of the divine beings, in this way the Pantheon may have been laid out as a place where the emperor
could show up in a setting which helped spectators to remember his heavenly status, measure up to
with other different gods of the Roman Pantheon and his idolized emperor antecedents. The Pantheon
was built on the definite site of two earlier Pantheon structures, one commissioned by Marcus
Vipsanius Agrippa (27 25 BCE) and the second by Domitian. The first building was destroyed by a
fire in 80 CE and the second building was struck by lightning in 110 CE and again ... Show more

Peter s (whose dome is smaller), and the Pantheon s roof was stripped of bronze for use in Bernini s
baldacchino in St. Peter s. In 1563, the bronze doors were restored. Additionally, in 1626 CE Pope
Urban VIII removed the greater part of the bronze girders from the porch roof and recast the metal
into 80 canons for the city s Castel Sant Angelo. The presence of these girders suggests that the porch
roof initially had overwhelming marble tiles. In spite of these progressions the Pantheon is one of the
best preserved ancient monuments on the world, despite everything it still has an important function
and status today as inside of it are tombs of the first two kings of Italy, Vittorio Emanuele II and
Umberto I. (from 1870 1946 CE), and another notable tomb is that of the painter Raphael (1483 1520

A Brief History of Cuba
In 1492, Christopher Columbus landed on what is now Bariay, Holguin province. He claimed this
piece of land for Spain and originally named it Isla Juana after the Prince of Asturias, Juan. In the mid
16th century an outbreak of measles wiped out two thirds of the natives, which most of them had
survived the outbreak of smallpox previously. In the 19th century Cuba s people were slaves, outraged
slaves began to rebel with the intention to win independence from the Spanish. In April of 1898 Spain
and Cuba went to war with Americas involvement which resulted in the Treaty of Paris in August of
1898 where Spain ceded Puerto Rico, Philippines, Cuba, and Guam. On May 20, 1902 The United
States of America allowed Cuba to gain its independence. The newly written constitution stated that
the United States retained the right to intervene in Cuba s affairs. In 1933 the Sergeants revolt
occurred. Leader of the revolt, Sergeant Fulgencio Batista overthrew Cespedes. After Cespedes was
overthrown Ramon Grau San Martin was named as provisional president, but in 1934 he resigned
leaving Batista the presidency. Eventually Cuban natives were unsatisfied with the way Batista ran the
country; exiled in 1959 Batista fled to Portugal. Eventually Fidel Castro took over and converted the
country to communism, which led Cuba into the best and the worst of times. After Batista was exiled
to Portugal, Fidel Castro took over. The United States retained the right to intervene in their affairs

Antliff And Leighten Summary
In Primitive, Mark Antliff and Patricia Leighten argue that in various topics, primitive can either have
positive or negative connotations. They also specify that the term is not a classification but rather a
comparison to its inverse: civilized. Antliff and Leighten explicitly discuss its use in the fields of time
and space, gender, race and class to support their argument. Using primitive in the context of time and
space is the most simplistic of their examples, as they say that primitive is plainly to be constant and
in tune with the wilderness. Its opposite, civilized, is likewise defined as to advance and expand.
Antliff and Leighten give examples of that an artist who is primitive can create art through his
intuition rather than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such a primitive artist may live in a different time frame or geographic location than than the
reference civilized artist. They then play with the idea that the two genders can be described as
primitive and civilized. Antliff and Leighten say that females are generally depicted as the primitive
gender, and males to be the civilized gender. They explain that females are regarded this way because
it was thought that women were more in tune with nature through their ability to ensure the continuity
of the human race. Young British women however, had lost some of their primitiveness and had
become more civilized, losing their libido. This forced some British men to seek women that were not
from their country, or even continent, to find women that were more primitive and thus more sensual.
These women were more primitive because as Antliff and Leighten explain

I. Introduction
Asexual Propagation is the process of using plant materials such as the stems, leaves, and roots to
multiply the number of plants. These plants eventually grow to be a brand new plant that is genetically
identical to the parent plant it came from. In several types of plants, asexual propagation is the fastest
means of new plant growth. Asexual propagation is also a good way to maintain a plant species
because they are genetically identical. In this process, adventitious roots are seen in the growing cycle.
Adventitious roots are those that grow form parts of the plant that they normally would not grow from.

Next, take cuttings using pruners from each assigned plant and insert them in their designated area.
For the Ficus, Japanese boxwood, Swedish Ivy, and Autumn Sage take one tip and one stem cutting.
Each of these cuttings should be long enough to where there are four nodes present, two above the soil
and two below. For the Mouse Ear Jew and the Wandering Traveler make two tip and two stem
cuttings. To test the significance of polarity, take four tip cuttings from the Snake Plant, first cut one
large cutting then make four V shaped cuts into it, two with tips up and two with tips down. Also to
test polarity, take two cuttings from the Umbrella Palm, take two cuttings that both still have the tips
on them. Take the leaves off the top and place in soil upside down for reverse polarity and one right
side up for positive polarity. For the Peperomia, simply take one leave cutting and put the petiole
below the soil. Next, the Mother of Thousands calls for one plantlet and one leaf cutting. Take these
and place in the soil. For the Jade plant take one leaf and one stem cutting. The stem needs to have
four nodes available, two above and two below. For the leaf cutting make sure it is planted about
halfway into the soil. After these cuttings have been planted, put in a stake with a name on it to
separate each individual s plants. III. Results

Review Of Biosemantics Millikan s Goal For ``...
Jessica Scruggs Phil 307 Response Paper #3 11/11/16 Millikan s Biosemantics Millikan s goal for
Biosementaics is to explain what connects a representation with the thing it represents. To reach this
goal, Millikan has to explain that there are special conditions that need to be met to form a connection
between a representation and its object. These content fixing conditions cannot be statistically normal
conditions, because normal is a relative term. An example Millikan gives is that of a red face. Is it a
sign of sunburn? Exertion? Overheating? Embarrassment? Or, often times in my case, alcohol flush?
There are numerous views that focus on the idea that what produces a representation is what makes it
what it is. Millikan brings up views by Fodor, Stampe, Matthen, and Dretske. Millikan dismisses
Fodor s idea that content is fixed by a causal connection, but the representation s role in a functional
system is what, in the end, determines how the content is fixed. She dismisses it because having fixed
content means to act like a representation. Stampe, Matthen, and Dretske say that the representations
have a detecting or indicating role, but Millikan also dismisses this as unenlightening, because the
terms detect and indicate basically mean to represent. Millikan refutes all of these notions so that she
can explain that the way a representation is used is what fixes the content, not how it was made. The
object of representation stands for something because there is

Ray occasionally saw dead bodies through his work and looked completely unfazed by the gruesome

Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder
Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder was first mentioned in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual 4th
edition (DSM IV) as a depressive disorder not otherwise specified. It was actually a renaming of a
diagnosis that was originally in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual 3rd edition (DSM III). That
diagnosis was the Late Luteal Phase Dysphoric Disorder (LLPDD), which had been found to be false
because these symptoms did not always occur during the late luteal phase in the menstrual cycle
(Severino, 2009). The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual 5th edition (DSM 5) officially recognized
PMDD as a diagnosis, placing it under Depressive Disorders. It seems the symptoms of PMDD very

How Did Ancient Greece Influence Modern Society
The Influence of Greece on Modern Society
Greece and Rome have both heavily contributed to modern society, some of their contributions being
architecture, knowledge, and tendencies in government. Without these two ancient civilizations, we
might not be as technologically advanced as we are today. Although ancient Romans invented so
many important things like aqueducts and roads, the ancient Greeks were more prominent in
influencing modern culture.
Some may argue that Rome has much more influence on modern societies, but the interesting thing
about Rome is that it was heavily influenced by Greece. Ancient Greece was at its peak with art and
religion around 800 B.C. to 500 B.C., and ancient Rome came around during early 700 B.C. Ancient
Rome adapted many of the same ideals that ancient Greece had, like their polytheistic religion and
their type of government. Essentially, ancient Greece was the stepping stone that began all of these
ancient characteristics and influenced ancient Rome.
In almost every modern society, art is treasured and appreciated and held up to certain standards. The
ancient Greeks were big ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before direct democracy in Athens, Greek city states were somewhat wild and unpredictable in terms
of leadership. Popular during these times were monarchies and oligarchies, and after many years the
Greeks decided to contribute one of the greatest things to modern society, democracy. Now, this
democracy was nowhere near the same as modern societies have adapted today, but the fundamental
building blocks for today s government were highlighted in Athens direct democracy. Athens direct
democracy consisted of every male Athenian having the rights to vote and participate in politics and
elect new leaders (Cartwright). This heavily influenced modern day democracy, where citizens have
equal rights in voting, including

Taking a Look at Nuclear Meltdowns
Nuclear Meltdowns Everyone knows what it feels like waking up certain that a bad day is about to
begin. Perhaps the alarm clock didn t go off because of a power surge. Maybe the lights dim when the
hair dryer turns on, or a hurricane has knocked the power lines down and electricity can t be bad.
These scenarios are nothing compared to the day when a nuclear meltdown has occurred. A really bad
day is one when the power fails, followed by water contamination, followed by a disruption in food
distribution.
Chaos occurs, there is a collapse of law and order, fires emerge and looting begins. The INEPC,
NNSA, Office of Policy and International Affairs, Office of the General Counsel, and the Department
of Energy should provide more protective guidelines in place to prevent nuclear accidents. There are
about a dozen key agencies globally that work together to manage and regulate the nuclear industry.
The Institute for Security and Conflicts Studies cooperates with the
Security Policy Forum. The International Nuclear Energy Policy and Cooperation
(INEPC) works closely with the Department of Energy s National Nuclear Security
Administration (NNSA) and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to watch over the
commercial nuclear power plants. Every country involved with nuclear energy has its own committees
and agencies that must report. The INEPC and NNSA Office of Policy and International Affairs,

affect the overall health in a person if they changed theirs within a year? With the health promotion
model, an individual who changes their behavior or their normal diet of choice to a healthy
Mediterranean diet can have overall better health outcomes. It can be difficult to achieve for an
individual who lives in an environment where it creates a barrier to finding sources for the basic need
to eat a Mediterranean diet. Even if the environment the individual lives does not provide or have the
option to choose from choices of a Mediterranean diet. For example, if the individual or patient lives
in an environment where there are more fast food places that do not have a menu option for the
individual to obtain their nutritional need from, then they are most likely not able to convert their
routine to a Mediterranean diet easily. So this is where once again a nurse can play a role in teaching
the individual or patient on ways to easily consume a Mediterranean diet that fits and works around

Puck In A Midsummer Night s Dream Essay
Interference: The Role of Puck in A Midsummer Night s Dream
Puck, one of the main characters in A Midsummer Night s Dream, exclaims, Lord, what fools these
mortals be (III.ii.117)! In this quote, he is speaking to Oberon, his master, about the silliness that he
sees displayed by Helena, Hermia, Lysander, and Demetrius due to the petty squabbles that continue
to take place between them. However, while Puck laughs on in amusement about the stupidity of the
mortals, he fails to acknowledge his role in that matter. Puck is the clear root of all problems in A
Midsummer Night s Dream because he causes the disagreements and confusion between the lovers
and he fails to show remorse or regret following his wrong doings. One reason why Puck is the ...

This argument is clearly supported when Puck says, Did you not tell me I should know the man/ by
the Athenian garments he had on?/ And so far blameless proves my enterprise/ that I have nointed an
Athenian s eyes (III. ii, 369 372). This quote reveals Puck s innate characteristics by showing his utter
lack of guilt even after he made the lives of the four lovers worse off by putting the flower s nectar on
the wrong person. Although, he is correct in stating how Oberon s instructions were not entirely clear,
he still fails to apologize for his mistake. It is also important to note that Puck is not oblivious to the
outcomes of his mistakes. He notices his faults have implications on the lives of Hermia, Helena,
Lysander, Demetrius and those around them, and yet he sits back, laughs, and watches the scenes play
out. This claim is also supported when Puck declares, Cupid is a knavish lad/ thus to make poor
females mad (III.ii. 469 470). In this quote, Puck states that Cupid is the cause of the quarrels between
Helena and Hermia due to the fact that it was Cupid s arrow that shot the flower used to anoint the
eyes of Lysander. He uses this as a sort of excuse or way to back out of taking responsibility for his
actions and mistakes. However, it was Puck who used that flower on Lysander which caused the

Nelson Mandela In South Africa
I am Nelson Mandela but everybody call me Madiba and I am a leader of South Africa. South Africa
is not a normal country when the nation remains s racially and economically divided after the end of
apartheid. One country but two societies such as Black and White. As a Black leader, I do not have a
support from White community. He can win the election but can he run the country? Ruin the country
when apartheid still appears as well as not let South Africa appears to be on the verge of a civil war
are the monumental oppositions I have to face with. My mission is to unify the societies. And this is
my first day of working as the president position. When I walk into the Union Buildings, I can see the
White staffs are bitter and disrespect through their body language and action such as eyes cat down,
arms folded and some of them turn away from me with the belongings in their hands. Understand their
thinking and feeling, I organize a small meeting to convince the staffs to stay with me and run the
government with their hearts. And when Jason, my bodyguard asks me for more men, I decide to use
SAS staff because this is the opportunity to show the citizens that South Africa is different now and
we have to look into the future, I know Jason does not like this but I say with him Forgiveness start
here. Few days later, I attend the rugby match between Springbok and England. This match likely to
present the entrenched problems in South African community. I can see how serious the situation is
when the Black cheering England team and the White sport fans support the old ways with their
outdated flags. Moreover, when I arrive there are many aggressive people throw beer cans to me. At
that day, our team lose. Based on the bad result, National Sport Council decides to eliminate the
emblem and colour of Springbok because they represent apartheid through the colour of the uniform.
As a leader of the whole nation, I believe rugby is the symbol of South Africa and Springbok is the
factor for reunification without using any power or taking away White South African their most
valued traditions. Therefore, I ask the National Sports Council to restore the Springbok s name,
emblem as well as the colour. Luckily, I have

The Theory Of Evolution And Adaptation
There are three major refutations against the design argument, first she designs argument is faulted for
its weak analogy between the natural objects and the objects that that is known to have a creator such
as buildings. This is the equivalent of comparing apples to oranges. For the second refutation the
design argument claims that everything has a perfect design, this simply isn t the case. For example,
we can examine the issues of starvation within the United States, although the world is structured to
perfectly provide food for humans, there still people starving because of imperfect circumstances such
as the inability to transport food to those who can`t receive it themselves (Tombs 7). The strongest and
most accepted argument against the design argument is the theory of evolution and adaptation. Those
who support the theory of evolution and adaptation credits the perfect design of the aspects to those
two concepts. Artic Fish are an example of this adaption, they have developed a protein in their blood
that prevent their blood from freezing which allows them continue their metabolic functions (Lloyd 2).
The finally argument against the design theory states that even if the premise of the argument is true,
its doesn t necessarily confirm the existence of God. The third argument of the existence of God is the
ontological argument. Unlike the cosmological and the design arguments the ontological argument
does not attempt to seek evidence with in our physical

another person, that may damage his or her reputation and the ability for him or her to provide for self.
Ross as an employer has a right to provide background information to future employer but attack of an

defamatory per se if it tends to disparage a person in the way of person s office, profession or trade
Nichols v. Item Publishers, 309 N.Y. 596, 132 N.E.2d 860 (1956). Ross directly states in her letter, I

transfusions. This belief arises from a biblical passage that states Only flesh with its soul its blood you
must not eat (Genesis 9:3 4), You must not eat the blood of any sort of flesh, because the soul of every
sort of flesh is its blood. I will set my face against that person who eats blood...Anyone eating it will
be cut off (Leviticus 17:10, 13 14). These passages are interpreted by Jehovah s witnesses as
forbidding the transfusion of any blood products. The following presentation will address legal and
ethical issues that can arise from this scenario.

Jehovah s Witnesses respect their religion and their beliefs and many strongly adhere to them because
of the many consequences that they may face. Jehovah s Witness believe that if they accept blood
products, they will suffer severe consequences. Some of the consequences Jehovah s Witness believe
they will encounter include lack of spiritual purpose, relationship with God will be damaged and they
will be expelled from their congregation (Jehovah s Witnesses, 2000). Many parents face the worse
decision when a child is involved.
The following scenario explores the legal and ethical decisions involved with a pediatric patient. A six
year old boy suffering from Sickle cell anemia is brought to the hospital with a crisis. During a sickle
cell anemia crisis, red blood cells are damaged and they are unable to deliver oxygen to the body. The
standard treatment is oxygen, hydration, blood replacements and exchange transfusion (Anita, 2006).
The pediatric patient was admitted in critical condition and a blood transfusion is necessary. Parents
stated they want to save their child and will accept any type of treatment except for blood products.
Adults have the right to refuse any type of treatment including blood products. Nurses are there to
support and advocate for the patient and to assist and support the patient when other methods of
treatment are chosen. Parents with full custody

A study carried out by the SCK CEN was done to evaluate how and how quickly the radioactive
materials could be transported to safe areas as the real danger of the tailings falling into the river are
very real. All it takes is a heavy rain fall to push the materials into the water. The people of the area are
ingesting locally grown foods and this is causing more than 90% of damage. This means there should
be close monitoring and restrictions on food crops to ensure safety. Also the dosages due to inhaling
radon in the air can be reduced by increasing ventilation in the houses and some action should be
taken to remove peoples who the ventilation cannot help. (Vandenhove et al., 2003)
Overall the DWDS does not provide good quality drinking water, and many of the wells used for
drinking water and irrigation are contaminated from the tailings seeping into the surface waters and
ground waters. The presences of arsenic in the water is well above the WHO acceptable levels and this
is very dangerous as arsenic is extremely toxic to humans and animals. Also the levels of chlorine and
selenium in some drinking wells, four in the area one located near a school and used by a large
number of children for drinking purposes, are well above the guidelines deemed acceptable for quality
of water intended for human consumption by the European Union Directive. The concentrations of

Essay On City Council Meeting
The process of the City Council meeting was very interesting and long. There were many things that I
learned in this meeting because it was the first meeting that I have been to for the city. Everything was
planned and very organized in the meeting and they go down a schedule or list of what they will do
first. The Mayor of the city of Bakersfield is the one to begin the meeting, but he was absent the day
that I went so Vice Mayor Harold Hanson took his spot. He mentioned how the Mayor had not missed
a meeting in such a long time that he can not even remember the last time he got to take his place.
Hearing what the Vice Mayor said about the Mayor showed the residents of Bakersfield and I how
important and how serious the Mayor takes his job. It showed that the Mayor really cares for the
people of Bakersfield even though many disagree with me. Vice Mayor Harold Hanson begins with an
introduction the meeting by welcoming everyone and announcing that Mayor Hall is going to be
absent. There was not a lot of people like I was expecting, but it was still very interesting to hear all of
the residents concerns and opinions. After the Vice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Insanity In The Tell Tale Heart
Edgar Allan Poe uses symbolism, conflict, and setting to construct the effect of insanity in the narrator
of The Tell Tale Heart. To begin with, Poe uses imagery to help demonstrate symbolism; as he states,
The disease had sharpened my senses not destroyed not dulled them, it tells the reader that most of the
information was transmitted by his senses. For instance, on page 92 the narrator describes how the old
man s eye resembled of a vulture through sight and this creates a situation where the reader shifts into
the narrator s shoes. Through the mind of the narrator shows how the eye triggers a negative feeling
and it might be the fear of death as vulture s prey on the sick and dead. The passage Whenever it fell

Raised Minimum Wage
In a 2015 survey conducted by The New York Times and CBS News, 71% of people surveyed
believed the minimum wage should be raised to $10.10 (Should The Federal). The minimum wage has
been increased by congress 22 times since 1938 and was last updated to $7.25 on July 24, 2009
(Minimum Wage). 3.3% of workers in the United States get paid the minimum wage or lower
(Background of). A federal minimum wage hike would lower poverty levels, decrease spending on
government assistance, and increase productivity in jobs. If the government raised the minimum wage,
then the amount of people in poverty would decline. The poverty line in 2015 was $12,331 a year,
only 20 percent below a full time minimum wage worker s annual salary of $15,080 (Should the
Federal). As a result, minimum wage citizens can barely meet their living needs. A study completed by
the National Low Income Housing Coalition in 2015 said that a worker must earn $15.50 an hour to
be able to rent a one bedroom apartment. If someone needed a two bedroom apartment they would
need to earn $19.35 an hour (Should the Federal). More people would be able to find adequate
housing or their family if minimum wage were to increase. As a result. Less people would be living on
the streets. If the minimum wage was raised to $9 an hour, over 300,000 people would be lifted out of
poverty. Even better, raising minimum wage to $10.10 an hour would result in over 900,000 people
out of poverty (Should the Federal). Consequently, more people would be living comfortably if the
minimum wage were to be raised. Poverty levels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

What is the nature of your special interest in Temple University School of Medicine?
Temple s reputation as a forerunner in medical education and research with values such as excellence
and leadership make it an ideal match for an engaged, driven student like myself.
As an undergraduate, I gained invaluable hands on clinical experience working for the University
Health Services Clinic. I was able to directly interact with the patients, listen to their concerns, take
their vitals, and network with nurses, practitioners and physicians about their condition and treatment
plan. I worked on a team of medical professionals to provide expedited, yet compassionate care.
Temple s emphasis on clinical medicine, starting the very first year, will allow me to continue my
experience and clinical training, further developing my ability to provide compassionate care through
effective interpersonal communication, clinical reasoning, and teamwork.
With my strong background in research, I truly appreciate Temple s effort to create a well rounded
student, with not just clinical experience, but opportunity scientific exploration. I have worked in

Likewise, efforts in developing a routine sailing and maintenance program can commence on the old
vessel. As this maintenance program is developed, the crew will be able to use the new equipment as it
arrives to complete development of the program. This will take about 15 weeks. When the preliminary
routines are completed, the deck will be finished, and the boat parts (accessories, mast and seven sails)
will be ready for installation. After the parts are installed and crew maintenance training is complete,
the initial sail trainings effort will parallel the boat testing effort. Finally, when all initial training is
complete, there will be 8 weeks of see trials. Based on this plan the schedule from item M to S will
take 38 weeks to complete at an approximate direct cost of $270,000. The additional indirect expense
of operating the boats will cost $ 162,000 where the old vessel cost is $60,000, and the new vessel
cost is $102,000. The final effort will be the sea trials in the new boat will take eight weeks and have a

Elizabeth Bennet Dynamic
In the novel, Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen writes a story that depicts a society during the Regency
Period. The Regency Period is the time when people started to expand the colonial system through the
use of their profits from the Industrial Revolution. The Regency Period is displayed through Austen s
use of a middle class family, the Bennet family. In the book, the author writes about various characters
with contrasting personalities. No one character can resemble another since they are all different in
their own ways. One character that stood out the most was Elizabeth Bennet because of our similar
personalities and her dynamic role in the story.

During the beginning of the book, Elizabeth s confidence in her own judgments resulted in a poorly
made, preconceived idea of Mr. Darcy. Upon their initial meeting, Mr. Darcy came off as a high
handed, arrogant man. Because of this, Elizabeth based her judgment of him on their first encounter.
In Chapter 3, after the two were acquainted, Darcy said to Mr. Bingley, She is tolerable, but not
handsome enough to tempt me (13). This comment made Elizabeth feel that she had been disrespected
by Darcy, causing her to establish a poor judgment of him based on this rude remark he had made. As
the story continued Elizabeth s judgment remained unyielding. She was quick to believe anything that
would maintain the idea that Mr. Darcy was a cold man. In Chapter 16, Elizabeth meets a man named
Mr. Wickham and quickly sees that the two have something in common: their hatred toward Darcy. As
Wickham and Elizabeth talked, Mr. Darcy became the topic of conversation. Wickham told Elizabeth
a story establishing why he hates Darcy; he claimed that Darcy s father promised him the next
presentation of the best living in his gift (120). Wickham then states that Darcy did not allow for
Wickham to obtain his inheritance due to his hatred toward him. Elizabeth s ignorance and hatred
toward Darcy caused her to easily believe the stories that Wickham shared

Avant Garde
Given the question from Tuesday s class, I was interested in applying the Avant Garde theory to
Beowulf. Initially I understood this theory to apply primarily to text that deals with changes in a
culture and conflict between past and current values. With this understanding, I was interested in
analyzing the relationship between the pagan values present in the story before it was recorded in
writing and the Christian values that became incorporated in the epic as it was written. Christian
concepts may have become incorporated by a number of poets as they transferred the piece orally after
Christianity became common in Europe. This idea that Christian and pagan values are a point of
contention within the story is also mentioned on pages 33 and ... Show more content on

The first example that I found is on page 38 of our textbook, lines 91 97, and describes the story of
creation as told by the poets entertaining in Heorot. This reference to Christian concepts would likely
not have been present in the original pagan story. Moving on to lines 100 113, Grendel is described as
an enemy from hell that encompasses evil and was cast out to the land of monsters by the Creator.
Grendel is also described as kindred of Cain and the story of Cain and Abel is briefly described. This
seems to be another example of the incorporation of Christian concepts into the story. On page 40,
lines 174 192 the conflict between Christian and pagan values is more apparent as the author tells of
pagan rituals that the characters are preforming and writes (translated) that they know not how to
praise the Prince of Heaven. Jumping to page 65, lines 1269 1273, Beowulf is described as having
called upon the strength and comfort of God to overcome Grendel. Similarly, on lines 2328 2330,
Beowulf believed that he had angered the lord and that the burning of his hall and the surrounding
lands by a dragon was caused by his breaching of ancient law. These ideas of the creator may have
been inserted into the poem in favor of other ideas that contained pagan concepts and were less
relatable to the people of the time. The final example of this mixing of Christian and

How Does Annabel Lee Rhyme Scheme
Poe uses rhyme scheme and internal rhyme to enhance the tone of his writing. In Annabel Lee it says,
For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams (Poe 1.34). This sentence is a perfect example
of internal rhyme. Poe is rhyming beams with dreams to emphasize the love the speaker has towards
Annabel Lee. From this, the tone can be interpreted by heartbroken since Annabel has passed away.
Another piece of evidence that shows rhyme scheme, is in the text, A Dream Within A Dream , which
states, I stand amid the roar/Of a surf tormented shore, (Poe 1.12 13). Edgar Allan Poe rhymes roar
and shore at the end of these two lines to emphasize the tone of the poem as torment. Also rhyming

Child Support In California
Just like every state, California has guidelines in their statutes that outline the what, where, how, and
why of child support. The primary purpose of child support in Riverside, California is to do just that;
support the child financially in order to provide for their needs. As far as the courts are concerned, that
means whatever is in the best interest of the child (children).
The basics of what is included in California Family Code 4053:
The father and mother s most important and first obligation is to provide support for their child.
The child support obligation is mutual, consistent with what is in the best interest of the child, and is
calculated according to the income of both parents.

Likewise, child support may also reduce the imbalance in the standard of living for each parent.
California s cost of living is quite high and child support is ordered to reflect that fact.
California law surmises that the custodial parent, or the parent who contributes the most significant
amount of parenting time already contributes a significant amount of money and resources to support
the child. This factor can be rebutted depending on the circumstances.
California s guidelines for child support are intended to reduce litigation and conflict between parents.
The best interest of the child is the state s first priority regarding child support and the overall care of
the child.
Do these guidelines work as the legislature intends?
The goals of the statues regarding child support in Riverside, California are to prevent conflict
between parents, provide insurance that the child will have their needs met, and again, primarily
ensure their best interests are covered.

According to Singer, Acquiring new aggressive behavioral patterns is one of the first indications that
violent programs can influence a child to learn how to become more aggressive (70). Second, Singer
noted that violent programs can provide indications for the most functional behaviors in a particular
situation (70). If people have the wrong motives, then they are punished, but if people have the right
motives, they are rewarded. Another form is drawing attention, Aggressive children are more inclined
to watch violent programs (Van Der Voort 46). Once children watch a violent program, children are
led to be more aggressive and therefore want to keep watching aggressive shows. Finally, the change
in attitude towards violence in children are as researchers say that the attitudes of violence decreases
as the child gets more and more involved in violent shows (Gunter 48). As children get older and
older, their views of violence change for the worse; they no longer see how hurting someone on

and women are exploited, that of the camp homosexual, shallow straight man, and unlucky in love

Equity And Equality For Students
Equity and equality for students is all about enabling fairness and ensuring that all the students are
given the best possible chance to succeed in life irrespective of their identities or backgrounds
University of Birmingham (2015). In the course, we have learned that equity leads to success in
academic institutions and should therefore be encouraged. We have also learned that diversity is about
recognising, valuing and celebrating all the people from different backgrounds that live within our
societies. It is about creating a universal environment that is inclusive of these differences, where we
all feel welcome, valued and supported to succeed whatever our background or identity.
Equity and fair treatments in schools should however not be perceived to be about minority rights .
Rather, they should be viewed to cater for every situation in the learning environments and protects
every student from discrimination on the basis of their age, disability, pregnancy and maternity, race,
religion or belief, gender identity, marriage and civil partnership, sex and sexual orientation. The miss
conception has led to standardization of academic programs and the achievements that the students are
expected to achieve, irrespective of their backgrounds and capabilities, which is actually counter
productive. The question is, Does equality and equity mean treating everybody the same? According
to University of Birmingham (2015), everyone should be treated fairly regardless of

The Theme of Leadership Portrayed in The Odyssey and the...
Built in qualities such as intelligence, good looks, height and so on are not necessary to become a
good leader. Anyone can cultivate the proper leadership qualities. In order to excel in their leadership
a good leader must possess qualities such as self awareness, courage, confidence, innovation, fairness,
openness, and dedication among others. Odysseus in The Odyssey, and Samuel, Saul and David in the
Books of Samuel, display these characters. However, at some occasions they fail to do so. That is to
say, leaders, being it great or small, chosen by God or people, are not completely perfect.
Self awareness is one of the leadership qualities portrayed in The Odyssey and the Books of Samuel.
Odysseus possesses this quality. Several times ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He shows he is weak and not ready to lead. (1 Samuel 9:21). Saul even hides when he is supposed to
show himself to the Israelites as the chosen King (1 Samuel 11: 22). Although Saul knows that he
cannot lead, he has no choice, he has to follow the Lord s order. At last, God realizes that Saul was
indeed not a leader type person and chooses another person. God must have known that people are not
forced to be leaders, but they themselves should be aware of the ability to be leaders.
Confidence is another trait a leader should possess. Both Odysseus in The Odyssey and David in the
Books of Samuel demonstrate this quality. They have belief in their abilities to meet most challenges
that come their way. Odysseus never believes a person initially, being it mortal or immortal. He
always likes to be done in his way. Odysseus believes in himself rather than anybody else. He wants to
figure what to do for himself and not someone else do it for him. For instance, he argues with Calypso
and Ino because Odysseus did not believe them initially, but wanted things to be done his way (Book
5, line 180 line 370). Moreover, David, another God chosen King of Israelites, shows confidence
when he tells Saul that though he (David) is young, he can fight the giant Philistine warrior, Goliath
(1Samuel 17:32 37). However, David confidence is from the fact that God is on his side and will not
let him down.
Courage is also needed in a leadership. This quality is portrayed in The

The Structure And Function Of Cell Organelles
The Structure and Function of Cell Organelles
Cells are surrounded with a boundary known as the cell surface membrane and as well as holding the
cell together, being semi permeable, it controls the movement of materials across it. Within the cell are
a number of structures each which have specific functions. These structures are known as organelles.
The cell surface membrane and the membranes of any of the membrane bound organelles described
below are made of the same material, a double layer of phospholipid molecules. Within the cell
surface membrane, the intracellular space known as the cytoplasm, contains all the organelles and a
fluid known as cytosol. Within the cytosol is a network of microtubules and fibres called the
cytoskeleton. This cytoskeleton s main functions are to give support to the cell helping to maintain its
shape and aid the movement of organelles. Most cell organelles and structures are common to both
animal and plant cells but there are some differences as outlined in the table below.

A non static immobility of human world; in the light of Ode on a Grecian Urn
Mavra Tanveer, Anam Kanwal, Maratab Abid, Sumera Batool
Abstract

to a Grecian Urn . In this paper, we study the difference between imagination and reality through
human sculpture on Urn. People in art are frozen perfectly but the living individuals are imperfect.
Keywords: Paradox, sensual imagery, binary opposition, mortality and immortality.
Introduction
Keats was an archetype of Romantic poetry and he had struggled throughout his life to be in a good

He juxtaposes the mortality of man with the immortality of art. He through sculpture sees the picture
of reality via imagination as if were alive. He used to flight away in a world of imagination but comes
back in reality; as an alarm clock wakes us up from the world of dreams. He in this poem wants to tell
about the still immobility of a man through art. The urn passes through many ages without dying. It is
alien to all ideas and concepts. It forms a paradox for the human beings in the side of urn. People are
immortal but the art described by the poet shows the people frozen in time. As doth eternity
People on a urn haven t confront aging and death and are forever young. He examines the picture of a
piper who is playing to his lover. Keats has escaped from the reality that his love is undying. The
melodies for the piper will ever last.
But in reality, this person will never be able to fulfill

The Journey Of A Hero In Mystic Hero s Journey
According to Webster s dictionary, a definition of a hero is a mythological or legendary figure often of
divine descent ( Hero ). The thing with heroes is that they are not all mythological or legendary
figures; in fact, heroes can be almost anyone that holds our admiration towards them for whatever
reason. Any person can be deemed a hero from the random person seen walking across the street to
one of your relatives, so eloquently it is their journey that they go through that makes them become
the hero. In Joseph Campbell s book, Hero with a Thousand Faces, to be a hero you have to follow
along with the steps that Joseph Campbell created called Mystic Hero s Journey. From the start of the
first stage where the Call to Adventure begins it all to the end where the final step the Freedom to Live
ends the journey. It is taking notice how a person, such the case for my father, life choices and actions
convert them from being seen as an ordinary person to a genuine hero. For Adolfo Huitron, my father,
it is from the young age of 19 that he received his Call to Adventure. Straker describes in his article
that the call to adventure is where the hero starts off in a mundane situation of normality from which
some information is received that acts as a clarion call (Straker). He is inferencing that the hero starts
off with a normal dull background and it is when something out of the norm occurs or something life
changing happens that the hero in question gets his call to adventure, to begin his journey. At the age
of 19, Adolfo s call to adventure was when he received the news that he was going to be a father. This
news made him want to acquire a better future and life for his life. Living in Mexico during his time
was tough there wasn t much work in the area where he lived and education was poor as well. With
the future of his daughter in mind, he decided that he wanted to move his pregnant wife and himself to
the United States. He knew that in the United States, there were more job opportunities that would
help him provide better things for his family that would be increasing soon enough. He also knew that
the U.S valued the education of children more than in his own town. During the interview that he
stated, I

Some very interesting questions come to mind and we will be discussing them at length. The questions
are: Why did Monique Mandy fail to launch a new innovation in Tanzania? What effect did country
and market conditions have on this? What is the importance of social capital and networks in
entrepreneurship? Did Monique learn out of this failure? What would she do or avoid next time?
Without discussing and address these questions, this paper would not have properly analyzed the
Adesemi Failure as it were.
THE MAIN REPORT
The Company Adesemi
Adesemi, an American start up in Africa, had been trying for six years to blanket the developing world
with desperately needed wireless communications services. It had raised more than $15 million in
venture capital and launched the world s first fully integrated virtual phone system which incorporated
voice mail, pagers, and hundreds of pay phones in one of its poorest countries, Tanzania. Then
Adesemi crashed to earth, leaving its founder, Monique Maddy, with a company that was a shadow of
the powerhouse she had envisioned. The company s demise was personally and financially devastating
to Maddy, a Liberian born entrepreneur who grew up wanting to work for the United Nations and who
ultimately trained at Harvard Business School . According to Maddy Monique My

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Dental Veneers
Dental veneers are thin custom made shells designed to cover the front surface of the teeth, improving
your appearance and enhancing your smile by altering the colour, shape, size and length of your teeth.
Dental veneers can be made from porcelain or resin composite material. Although porcelain veneers
are stain resistant and makes the teeth appear brighter, resin veneers are thinner and require less
removal of the natural tooth surface before placement
Veneers are generally used to fix teeth that are discoloured, have gaps, are chipped and broken, are
misaligned, irregularly shaped, or have merely been worn down. These tooth imperfections can arise
from a variety of different reasons, such as: beverage intake (alcohol and caffeine are known causes of
staining) and unhealthy lifestyles (smoking, drug addictions and poor oral hygiene are the main causes
of tooth imperfection).
Getting dental veneers will require only three trips to the dentist. One for the consultation, and two to
make and apply the veneers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is important that you explain the results that you are trying to achieve, during this appointment.
Your second appointment will be for the preparation of your tooth for the veneers. You dentist will
remove about ½ mm of your tooth enamel from the tooth surface. That amount is equal to the
thickness of the veneer which will be bonded to the tooth. Once the enamel trimming has been done,
your dentist will create a model or impression of your teeth which will be sent to a dental laboratory
where your veneers will be constructed. It takes approximately 2 weeks for a dentist to receive veneers
from the laboratory, so during this period temporary dental veneers can be worn to cover up unsightly

Implementing A Health Care Policy
The process of implementing a health care policy involves important steps of legislation formulation
before execution and monitoring for progression and improvements. Committees and subcommittees
on levels of the government, state, and local legislation are inclusive in ensuring the policy is enacted
both efficiently and effectively. To accomplish these goals and objectives legislators must develop
rules and regulations that align with goals and objectives, and take precautions to form the proper
language to explain the actions suitable toward a successful operation. Some steps in the process are
repeated each time a modification in the policy occurs. Examination of the Children s Health

Patrick (McConnell) looked very strong and did a nice PR for the course. Ian (Smith) PR d by almost a full minute. Kiernan (Kostlivy) did a fine job and gained some great experience. Here are some of the three main reasons why the Roman Empire fell, and the causes of this fall. To start of with in the second year of the reign of Valens in 366 ce a disaster happened..an earthquake came upon the roman empire and destroyed numerous amounts of cities. But the roman empire was not prepared for this earthquake, this caused many deaths. Also shores were left dry in the mediterranean but then the tide returned very soon with the weight of a flood which returned on the coasts of Sicily,Greece, and Egypt, all of this caused over fifty thousand deaths in the city of Alexandria. • 5. An Essay On The Pantheon The Pantheon, whose name gets from the ancient Greek and signifies common to all the gods : Pan means all , and Theon means gods , is the best preserved building from ancient Rome. Its magnificent dome is a lasting testimony to the genius of Roman architects and as the building stands virtually intact. The purpose of the building is not known for certain but rather the name, porch and pediment decoration suggest a temple or something to that influence. Be that as it may, no faction is known not of the divine beings, in this way the Pantheon may have been laid out as a place where the emperor could show up in a setting which helped spectators to remember his heavenly status, measure up to with other different gods of the Roman Pantheon and his idolized emperor antecedents. The Pantheon was built on the definite site of two earlier Pantheon structures, one commissioned by Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa (27 25 BCE) and the second by Domitian. The first building was destroyed by a fire in 80 CE and the second building was struck by lightning in 110 CE and again ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Peter s (whose dome is smaller), and the Pantheon s roof was stripped of bronze for use in Bernini s baldacchino in St. Peter s. In 1563, the bronze doors were restored. Additionally, in 1626 CE Pope Urban VIII removed the greater part of the bronze girders from the porch roof and recast the metal into 80 canons for the city s Castel Sant Angelo. The presence of these girders suggests that the porch roof initially had overwhelming marble tiles. In spite of these progressions the Pantheon is one of the best preserved ancient monuments on the world, despite everything it still has an important function and status today as inside of it are tombs of the first two kings of Italy, Vittorio Emanuele II and Umberto I. He claimed this piece of land for Spain and originally named it Isla Juana after the Prince of Asturias, Juan. In the mid 16th century an outbreak of measles wiped out two thirds of the natives, which most of them had survived the outbreak of smallpox previously. In the 19th century Cuba s people were slaves, outraged slaves began to rebel with the intention to win independence from the Spanish. In April of 1898 Spain and Cuba went to war with Americas involvement which resulted in the Treaty of Paris in August of 1898 where Spain ceded Puerto Rico, Philippines, Cuba, and Guam. On May 20, 1902 The United States of America allowed Cuba to gain its independence. The newly written constitution stated that the United States retained the right to intervene in Cuba s affairs. In 1933 the Sergeants revolt occurred. Leader of the revolt, Sergeant Fulgencio Batista overthrew Cespedes. After Cespedes was overthrown Ramon Grau San Martin was named as provisional president, but in 1934 he resigned leaving Batista the presidency. Eventually Cuban natives were unsatisfied with the way Batista ran the country; exiled in 1959 Batista fled to Portugal. Eventually Fidel Castro took over and converted the country to communism, which led Cuba into the best and the worst of times. After Batista was exiled to Portugal, Fidel Castro took over. • 7. Antliff And Leighten Summary In Primitive, Mark Antliff and Patricia Leighten argue that in various topics, primitive can either have positive or negative connotations. They also specify that the term is not a classification but rather a comparison to its inverse: civilized. Antliff and Leighten explicitly discuss its use in the fields of time and space, gender, race and class to support their argument. Using primitive in the context of time and space is the most simplistic of their examples, as they say that primitive is plainly to be constant and in tune with the wilderness. Its opposite, civilized, is likewise defined as to advance and expand. Antliff and Leighten give examples of that an artist who is primitive can create art through his intuition rather than ... They then play with the idea that the two genders can be described as primitive and civilized. Antliff and Leighten say that females are generally depicted as the primitive gender, and males to be the civilized gender. They explain that females are regarded this way because it was thought that women were more in tune with nature through their ability to ensure the continuity of the human race. Young British women however, had lost some of their primitiveness and had become more civilized, losing their libido. This forced some British men to seek women that were not from their country, or even continent, to find women that were more primitive and thus more sensual. Introduction Asexual Propagation is the process of using plant materials such as the stems, leaves, and roots to multiply the number of plants. These plants eventually grow to be a brand new plant that is genetically identical to the parent plant it came from. In several types of plants, asexual propagation is the fastest means of new plant growth. Asexual propagation is also a good way to maintain a plant species because they are genetically identical. For the Mouse Ear Jew and the Wandering Traveler make two tip and two stem cuttings. To test the significance of polarity, take four tip cuttings from the Snake Plant, first cut one large cutting then make four V shaped cuts into it, two with tips up and two with tips down. • 10. Review Of Biosemantics Millikan s Goal For ``... Jessica Scruggs Phil 307 Response Paper #3 11/11/16 Millikan s Biosemantics Millikan s goal for Biosementaics is to explain what connects a representation with the thing it represents. To reach this goal, Millikan has to explain that there are special conditions that need to be met to form a connection between a representation and its object. These content fixing conditions cannot be statistically normal conditions, because normal is a relative term. An example Millikan gives is that of a red face. Is it a sign of sunburn? Exertion? Overheating? Embarrassment? Or, often times in my case, alcohol flush? There are numerous views that focus on the idea that what produces a representation is what makes it what it is. Millikan brings up views by Fodor, Stampe, Matthen, and Dretske. Millikan dismisses Fodor s idea that content is fixed by a causal connection, but the representation s role in a functional system is what, in the end, determines how the content is fixed. She dismisses it because having fixed content means to act like a representation. Stampe, Matthen, and Dretske say that the representations have a detecting or indicating role, but Millikan also dismisses this as unenlightening, because the terms detect and indicate basically mean to represent. Millikan refutes all of these notions so that she can explain that the way a representation is used is what fixes the content, not how it was made. The object of representation stands for something because there is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. How Did Ancient Greece Influence Modern Society The Influence of Greece on Modern Society Greece and Rome have both heavily contributed to modern society, some of their contributions being architecture, knowledge, and tendencies in government. Without these two ancient civilizations, we might not be as technologically advanced as we are today. Although ancient Romans invented so many important things like aqueducts and roads, the ancient Greeks were more prominent in influencing modern culture. Some may argue that Rome has much more influence on modern societies, but the interesting thing about Rome is that it was heavily influenced by Greece. Ancient Greece was at its peak with art and religion around 800 B.C. to 500 B.C., and ancient Rome came around during early 700 B.C. Ancient Rome adapted many of the same ideals that ancient Greece had, like their polytheistic religion and their type of government. Perhaps the alarm clock didn t go off because of a power surge. Maybe the lights dim when the hair dryer turns on, or a hurricane has knocked the power lines down and electricity can t be bad. These scenarios are nothing compared to the day when a nuclear meltdown has occurred. A really bad day is one when the power fails, followed by water contamination, followed by a disruption in food distribution. Chaos occurs, there is a collapse of law and order, fires emerge and looting begins. The INEPC, NNSA, Office of Policy and International Affairs, Office of the General Counsel, and the Department of Energy should provide more protective guidelines in place to prevent nuclear accidents. There are about a dozen key agencies globally that work together to manage and regulate the nuclear industry. The Institute for Security and Conflicts Studies cooperates with the Security Policy Forum. The International Nuclear Energy Policy and Cooperation (INEPC) works closely with the Department of Energy s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to watch over the commercial nuclear power plants. The purpose of the visible hierarchical church is to teach, to govern, and through the Sacraments to sanctify the faithful. With the health promotion model, an individual who changes their behavior or their normal diet of choice to a healthy Mediterranean diet can have overall better health outcomes. It can be difficult to achieve for an individual who lives in an environment where it creates a barrier to finding sources for the basic need to eat a Mediterranean diet. Even if the environment the individual lives does not provide or have the option to choose from choices of a Mediterranean diet. For example, if the individual or patient lives in an environment where there are more fast food places that do not have a menu option for the individual to obtain their nutritional need from, then they are most likely not able to convert their routine to a Mediterranean diet easily. Puck In A Midsummer Night s Dream Essay Interference: The Role of Puck in A Midsummer Night s Dream Puck, one of the main characters in A Midsummer Night s Dream, exclaims, Lord, what fools these mortals be (III.ii.117)! In this quote, he is speaking to Oberon, his master, about the silliness that he sees displayed by Helena, Hermia, Lysander, and Demetrius due to the petty squabbles that continue to take place between them. However, while Puck laughs on in amusement about the stupidity of the mortals, he fails to acknowledge his role in that matter. Puck is the clear root of all problems in A Midsummer Night s Dream because he causes the disagreements and confusion between the lovers and he fails to show remorse or regret following his wrong doings. One reason why Puck is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This argument is clearly supported when Puck says, Did you not tell me I should know the man/ by the Athenian garments he had on?/ And so far blameless proves my enterprise/ that I have nointed an Athenian s eyes (III. ii, 369 372). This quote reveals Puck s innate characteristics by showing his utter lack of guilt even after he made the lives of the four lovers worse off by putting the flower s nectar on the wrong person. Although, he is correct in stating how Oberon s instructions were not entirely clear, he still fails to apologize for his mistake. It is also important to note that Puck is not oblivious to the outcomes of his mistakes. He notices his faults have implications on the lives of Hermia, Helena, Lysander, Demetrius and those around them, and yet he sits back, laughs, and watches the scenes play out. This claim is also supported when Puck declares, Cupid is a knavish lad/ thus to make poor females mad (III.ii. 469 470). In this quote, Puck states that Cupid is the cause of the quarrels between Helena and Hermia due to the fact that it was Cupid s arrow that shot the flower used to anoint the eyes of Lysander. He uses this as a sort of excuse or way to back out of taking responsibility for his actions and mistakes. However, it was Puck who used that flower on Lysander which caused the ... South Africa is not a normal country when the nation remains s racially and economically divided after the end of apartheid. One country but two societies such as Black and White. As a Black leader, I do not have a support from White community. He can win the election but can he run the country? Ruin the country when apartheid still appears as well as not let South Africa appears to be on the verge of a civil war are the monumental oppositions I have to face with. My mission is to unify the societies. And this is my first day of working as the president position. When I walk into the Union Buildings, I can see the White staffs are bitter and disrespect through their body language and action such as eyes cat down, arms folded and some of them turn away from me with the belongings in their hands. Understand their thinking and feeling, I organize a small meeting to convince the staffs to stay with me and run the government with their hearts. And when Jason, my bodyguard asks me for more men, I decide to use SAS staff because this is the opportunity to show the citizens that South Africa is different now and we have to look into the future, I know Jason does not like this but I say with him Forgiveness start here. Few days later, I attend the rugby match between Springbok and England. This match likely to present the entrenched problems in South African community. I can see how serious the situation is when the Black cheering England team and the White sport fans support the old ways with their outdated flags. Moreover, when I arrive there are many aggressive people throw beer cans to me. At that day, our team lose. Based on the bad result, National Sport Council decides to eliminate the emblem and colour of Springbok because they represent apartheid through the colour of the uniform. As a leader of the whole nation, I believe rugby is the symbol of South Africa and Springbok is the factor for reunification without using any power or taking away White South African their most valued traditions. • 21. The Theory Of Evolution And Adaptation There are three major refutations against the design argument, first she designs argument is faulted for its weak analogy between the natural objects and the objects that that is known to have a creator such as buildings. This is the equivalent of comparing apples to oranges. For the second refutation the design argument claims that everything has a perfect design, this simply isn t the case. For example, we can examine the issues of starvation within the United States, although the world is structured to perfectly provide food for humans, there still people starving because of imperfect circumstances such as the inability to transport food to those who can`t receive it themselves (Tombs 7). The strongest and most accepted argument against the design argument is the theory of evolution and adaptation. Those who support the theory of evolution and adaptation credits the perfect design of the aspects to those two concepts. Artic Fish are an example of this adaption, they have developed a protein in their blood that prevent their blood from freezing which allows them continue their metabolic functions (Lloyd 2). The finally argument against the design theory states that even if the premise of the argument is true, its doesn t necessarily confirm the existence of God. The third argument of the existence of God is the ontological argument. Moving on to lines 100 113, Grendel is described as an enemy from hell that encompasses evil and was cast out to the land of monsters by the Creator. Grendel is also described as kindred of Cain and the story of Cain and Abel is briefly described. This seems to be another example of the incorporation of Christian concepts into the story. As children get older and older, their views of violence change for the worse; they no longer see how hurting someone on purpose is wrong. Over time, children not only become even more violent but also are increasingly getting more attached to the violence portrayed on television. HPI The patient tells me she was cutting an avocado on September 17th. She said she was using a knife to remove the pit of the avocado and was holding the avocado in her left hand, the knife in her right hand, and was trying to stab at the pit. Unfortunately, she missed the pit and cut her hand. She said the wound was to the area above her fifth metatarsal, more on the palm side, than on the finger side itself. She said right away it was extremely painful and she noticed after some of the pain dissipated, that she was feeling a little numbness there. She said initially she did think much of it, but when she talked to her husband about it, he was worried about the numbness and prompted her to go to the emergency room. She was evaluated at Exeter Hospital. There, the wound was irrigated. She had two sutures placed. She did receive a tetanus vaccine while there, as well and was sent home. She was told that perhaps there was a mild injury to the nerve, but they did not think that there was a true severing of that nerve. She said she did not think much of it. The cut seemed to heal fine. There was no redness ever. It does not, in her mind, seem to be swollen. However, just in the last week, has noticed worsening types of pain. Equity And Equality For Students Equity and equality for students is all about enabling fairness and ensuring that all the students are given the best possible chance to succeed in life irrespective of their identities or backgrounds University of Birmingham (2015). In the course, we have learned that equity leads to success in academic institutions and should therefore be encouraged. We have also learned that diversity is about recognising, valuing and celebrating all the people from different backgrounds that live within our societies. It is about creating a universal environment that is inclusive of these differences, where we all feel welcome, valued and supported to succeed whatever our background or identity. Equity and fair treatments in schools should however not be perceived to be about minority rights . Rather, they should be viewed to cater for every situation in the learning environments and protects every student from discrimination on the basis of their age, disability, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, gender identity, marriage and civil partnership, sex and sexual orientation. The miss conception has led to standardization of academic programs and the achievements that the students are expected to achieve, irrespective of their backgrounds and capabilities, which is actually counter productive. Anyone can cultivate the proper leadership qualities. In order to excel in their leadership a good leader must possess qualities such as self awareness, courage, confidence, innovation, fairness, openness, and dedication among others. Odysseus in The Odyssey, and Samuel, Saul and David in the Books of Samuel, display these characters. However, at some occasions they fail to do so. Although Saul knows that he cannot lead, he has no choice, he has to follow the Lord s order. At last, God realizes that Saul was indeed not a leader type person and chooses another person. God must have known that people are not forced to be leaders, but they themselves should be aware of the ability to be leaders. Confidence is another trait a leader should possess. Both Odysseus in The Odyssey and David in the Books of Samuel demonstrate this quality. They have belief in their abilities to meet most challenges that come their way. Odysseus never believes a person initially, being it mortal or immortal. He always likes to be done in his way. Odysseus believes in himself rather than anybody else. He wants to figure what to do for himself and not someone else do it for him. For instance, he argues with Calypso and Ino because Odysseus did not believe them initially, but wanted things to be done his way (Book 5, line 180 line 370). Moreover, David, another God chosen King of Israelites, shows confidence when he tells Saul that though he (David) is young, he can fight the giant Philistine warrior, Goliath (1Samuel 17:32 37). However, David confidence is from the fact that God is on his side and will not let him down. Courage is also needed in a leadership. This quality is portrayed in The ... The Structure And Function Of Cell Organelles The Structure and Function of Cell Organelles Cells are surrounded with a boundary known as the cell surface membrane and as well as holding the cell together, being semi permeable, it controls the movement of materials across it. Within the cell are a number of structures each which have specific functions. These structures are known as organelles. The cell surface membrane and the membranes of any of the membrane bound organelles described below are made of the same material, a double layer of phospholipid molecules. Within the cell surface membrane, the intracellular space known as the cytoplasm, contains all the organelles and a fluid known as cytosol. Within the cytosol is a network of microtubules and fibres called the cytoskeleton. This cytoskeleton s main functions are to give support to the cell helping to maintain its shape and aid the movement of organelles. • 46. The Journey Of A Hero In Mystic Hero s Journey According to Webster s dictionary, a definition of a hero is a mythological or legendary figure often of divine descent ( Hero ). The thing with heroes is that they are not all mythological or legendary figures; in fact, heroes can be almost anyone that holds our admiration towards them for whatever reason. Any person can be deemed a hero from the random person seen walking across the street to one of your relatives, so eloquently it is their journey that they go through that makes them become the hero. In Joseph Campbell s book, Hero with a Thousand Faces, to be a hero you have to follow along with the steps that Joseph Campbell created called Mystic Hero s Journey. From the start of the first stage where the Call to Adventure begins it all to the end where the final step the Freedom to Live ends the journey. It is taking notice how a person, such the case for my father, life choices and actions convert them from being seen as an ordinary person to a genuine hero. For Adolfo Huitron, my father, it is from the young age of 19 that he received his Call to Adventure. Straker describes in his article that the call to adventure is where the hero starts off in a mundane situation of normality from which some information is received that acts as a clarion call (Straker). He is inferencing that the hero starts off with a normal dull background and it is when something out of the norm occurs or something life changing happens that the hero in question gets his call to adventure, to begin his journey. At the age of 19, Adolfo s call to adventure was when he received the news that he was going to be a father. This news made him want to acquire a better future and life for his life. Living in Mexico during his time was tough there wasn t much work in the area where he lived and education was poor as well. With the future of his daughter in mind, he decided that he wanted to move his pregnant wife and himself to the United States. He knew that in the United States, there were more job opportunities that would help him provide better things for his family that would be increasing soon enough. He also knew that the U.S valued the education of children more than in his own town. During the interview that he stated, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
