Cultural Capital Vs Social Class
1 As with many other forms of capital, financial capital and cultural capital can often be lacking for
individuals of lower classes. Financial capital refers to wages, tangible items, and savings, while
cultural capital refers to learned behaviors and outlooks often established by parents. There are greater
disparities between the wealthy and poor [in America] than residents in other developed nations (349).
The wealth of the upper class represents one third of the nation s total wealth, and this wealth allows
members of the upper class distinct advantages over those with low financial capital (349).
Additionally, those with higher financial capital also tend to transfer greater cultural capital to their
children.
Specifically, wealthy individuals have access to quality education, healthcare, social networks and
various other advantages denied to those with low financial capital. Among those advantages is
cultural capital. According to the text, in opposition to their more affluent counterparts, working class
mothers and fathers are more inclined simply to provide directives, [and are] less likely to consider
conversation with children as a learning opportunity (349). A more nurturing parenting style gives
children a chance to understand the importance of confidence and expressing themselves, both
valuable forms of cultural capital. Cultural capital often not provided by less affluent individuals due
to the financial and psychological stress of poverty (349).

The Influence Of Life Water In Ancient Egypt
Life Water Although you may think of the Egyptians as a very independent nation, they were never
really the ones in control. The real attributor of their ability to exist, lays squarely with the Nile. So
much so that Egypt in its entirety, formed itself to compensate as well as to take advantage of the great
waterway s entirety. This phenomenon is especially evident in their religion, daily life and location of
settlement. The influence the Nile had on their life s shows just how dependent this renowned
civilization was on the Nile. As an Egyptian, your life was morphed around the rivers ability to
provide, if the river was having a bad year so would you, and if it was felling generous you would
benefit. Its prodigious influence is largely

Celiac Disease

Celiac Disease
Dascha C. Weir, MD
Ciaran Kelly, MD
Celiac disease (CD) is an immune mediated enteropathy secondary to permanent sensitivity to wheat
gluten and related proteins in rye and barley. It results in characteristic histologic changes consisting
of inflammation, crypt hyperplasia, and villous atrophy of the small intestine in genetically susceptible
individuals. Significant variability in the clinical presentation of
CD in the pediatric population complicates recognition of the disease in many patients. Treatment for
CD consists of a lifelong strict gluten free diet (GFD). Adherence to this diet is associated with
resolution of most related signs and symptoms and a decreased risk of related complications. With an

United States And The United Kingdom Essay
Two of the most powerful democracies in the modern era, the United States and the United Kingdom
lead as examples as very successful forms of democratic government. Yet despite both states utilizing
democratic governments, both differ greatly on how they operate as a state and through its
governmental structure.
The Constitution:
The U.S created its current constitution after the failures of the Articles of Federation. It created a
strong central government that derived its powers from the constitution but also shared powers with
state and local governments. The UK on the other hand, does not have a single document that stands
as its constitution but instead enacts constitutional provisions over several Acts of Parliament. U.S
constitution is extremely difficult to ratify through political means. This contrasts greatly to UK Acts
of Parliament which can be changed by a simple majority in the legislature. The most important aspect
of the American constitution is the strict separation of powers of the executive, legislature, and the
judiciary branches of government. This separation of powers allows each branch to work
independently but also allow them to check each other s powers if one branch oversteps their
boundaries. Checks and balances within the three branches serve to limit but also connect each to
work together while being independent of each other. In the UK however, no such formal separation
of powers is present. The Government Minster must be a member of one of the

Line Of Descent Summary
The beginning of the article Line of Descent starts out describing how a particular Mexican wolf was
actually doing quite well in the wild, after he survived many events that could have definitely killed
him. Then, the article takes a sharp turn and begins to explain that the Mexican wolf isn t doing as
well as biologists originally thought. Despite a growing population count and breeding patterns, there
is still one major problem, and that problem has to do with the wolves genetics. The problem with all
of these new wolves is related to where they came from. Because there were originally so few wolves
left in the wild, when the time came for actions to be done about the dwindling population the wolves
didn t have a chance to breed in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this situation, not only did one species population decline, but a study showed that almost one third
of the current species of birds are endangered. There reason for declining has more to do with the
changing environment around them rather than the changing humans around them. Granted, the
environment is changing substantially due to humans, so they are technically similar in the sense that
in both problems, humans contribute to the downfall of species. There was also some good news in the
article, stating that certain other species did rise in population, similar to how the wolves population
has gotten bigger up until

The Jewish Religion
When choosing my classes at the beginning of the semester I wanted to choose something that I was
interested in learning but didn t know much about, and that s exactly why I chose to take this Jewish
Studies course. As I was raised a Catholic and attended Catholic school all my life I knew very little
about the Jewish Religion. Now my knowledge of the Jewish faith has strengthened and has been
fulfilled with the help of this class and Rabbi Bogot. The phrase I chose to right my term paper on is
the word and meaning of Mitzvah also known as commandment. As stated in the syllabus packet A
Mitzvah is a God mandated behavior. These behaviors, introduced in the Torah as statutes and
ordinances for the Hebrew people, define the ways in which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A Bar Mitzvah or a Bat Mitzvah is when a boy or girl reaches the age of thirteen and they are now
obligated to observe the commandments and are welcomed into adulthood. These are both celebrated
through the gathering or family and friends in the form of a party. This celebration is one of the rituals
of the Jewish religion.
Mitzvot (plural of Mitzvah) are understood to come from God and intended for Jewish people to
observe and partake in. Some Jewish people that live on the Western side of the world believe there is
some contradiction with the thought of being commanded to act in something because it takes away
from their right to choose how to behave. In the Torah, it says that when God gave the commandments
he declared, Behold, I have set before you the blessing [of observing the commandments] and the
curse [the potential punishment of failing to observe the Mitzvot] therefore, choose life! . The Jewish
people interpreted this as God acknowledging that Jews have a choice and he wants them to choose
the right one. All Jewish people have different beliefs behind the importance of a Mitzvah. Some
believers attempted to prove that Mitzvot are all sensible, logical actions that any person with ethical
morals would welcome. Whereas others reject that belief and believe that the six hundred and thirteen
commandments improve them as human beings and refines them into honest and impartial people by
obeying God

Essay on Luaghing Comedy-Oliver Goldsmith
The Theatre, like all other amusements, has its fashions and its prejudices, and when satiated with its
excellence, mankind begin to mistake change for improvement. For some years tragedy was the
reigning entertainment, but of late it has entirely given way to comedy, and our best efforts are now
exerted in these lighter kinds of composition. The pompous train, the swelling phrase, and the
unnatural rant, are displaced for that natural portrait of human folly and frailty, of which all are judges,
because all have sat for the picture. But as in describing nature it is presented with a double face,
either of mirth or sadness, our modern writers find themselves at a loss which chiefly to copy from,
and it is now debated, whether the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In these plays almost all the characters are good, and exceedingly generous; they are lavish enough of
their tin money on the stage, and though they want humor, have abundance of sentiment and feeling. If
they happen to have faults or foibles, the spectator is taught not only to pardon, but to applaud them,
in consideration of the goodness of their hearts; so that folly, instead of being ridiculed, is
commended, and the comedy aims at touching our passions, without the power of being truly pathetic.
In this manner we are likely to lose one great source of entertainment on the stage; for while the comic
poet is invading the province of the tragic muse, he leaves her lovely sister quite neglected. Of this,
however, he is no way solicitous, as he measures his fame by his profits. But it will be said, that the
theatre is formed to amuse mankind, and that it matters little, if this end be answered, by what means
it is obtained. If mankind find delight in weeping at comedy, it would be cruel to abridge them in that
or any other innocent pleasure. If those pieces are denied the name of comedies, yet call them by any
other name, and if they are delightful, they are good. Their success, it will be said, is a mark of their
merit, and it is only abridging our happiness to deny us an inlet to amusement. These objections,
however, are rather specious than solid. It is true, that amusement is a great object at a

Within America, each state is responsible for the operation of public schools and rules addressing
curriculum, teaching methods, and learning materials; the process Texas has implemented to adopt
new school textbooks is illustrated in the three articles, Publisher Defends Controversial Mexican

being a military nurse because I get to help people that are saving us from dangers. Not also that but

They also help their family members with their health. A military nurse may sometimes be sent to war
zone to help out and save injured soldiers, they also risk their life being there. Nurses also have to
attend boot camp to know what circumstances they are put in during war.
Money and outlook Overall, job opportunities for registered nurses are expected to be good. However,
the supply of new nurses entering the labor market has increased in recent years. This increase has
resulted in competition for jobs in some areas of the country. Generally, registered nurses with a
Bachelor of Science degree in nursing (BSN) will have better job prospects than those without one.
Employers also may prefer candidates who have some related work experience . The median annual
wage for registered nurses was $67,490 in May 2015. The median wage is the wage at which half the
workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent
earned less than $46,360, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $101,630 . (www.bls.gov).
There are a lot of people trying to become a registered nurse but, just becoming a registered nurse won
t get you as much money as getting your BMS and working with the government. A registered nurse
can get up to $101,630 a year depending on how far you got into your education. For example getting
your BMS can help a lot.

Pros And Cons Of South Carolina
South Carolina, a state with plenty of history and marshland was actually not discovered until a while
after North America had been founded. In fact, Virginia was colonized almost sixty years before South
Carolina was. However, European countries had beforehand attempted to colonize this area. In 1521
Francisco Gordillo, of Spain, sailed to the Carolina coast, he did not try to settle the area, but he did
attempt to enslave the natives and send them to the Caribbeans. To have settled the area, would mean
to have built a lasting community that can live on it s own. Soon after, Lucas Vasquez de Ayllón
brought 600 settlers to try and colonize the area. However they ran into many problems such as:

Notice how in Document B it mentions; The land of South Carolina for a hundred or a hundred and
fifty miles back is flat and woody; intersected with many large rivers, . Although, from this portion of
the document, South Carolina seems to be a nice place to settle, but this also had quite a few
disadvantages. The flat land in the Carolinas, offered no protection to the settlers., Ssure, the land
would be great for farming, but there is no protection for them from the natives or any animals. Just
like in the saying: In war, it s better to have the higher ground , tells that the land wouldn t offer
offensive assist either. Also, from the same quote, it states that there are many large rivers , these
rivers could easily have brought forth animals that posed a great threat to the settlers. Speaking about
animals, in Document C it is mentioned that there are endless Numbers of Panthers, Tygers, Wolves,
and other Beasts of Prey, . This shows that the animal life is always active, and that there are many
animals hunting Beasts of Prey such as deer. This was an advantage, because it allowed food, and a
disadvantage, because the vicious animal hunted in the night, keeping the settlers always on their

Adults And The Influence Of Empathy In Adults
As with many other skills, empathy is a learned skill that requires an awareness that other people
think, feel, and behave in ways that are both similar and different from one s self, or put simply, being
able to relate to and understand what another person is experiencing or feeling (McDonald Messinger,
2011). One of the first experiences that people have with empathy frequently appears as a baby when
we hear another infant cry (Szalavitz, 2010). Other research has shown that infants not only favor
adults who appear to be more helpful, but they also tend to offer voluntary help to adults who appear
to be having difficulties when reaching for something (Szalavitz, 2010). Therefore, according to this
research, it might be suggested that whether

The Most Famous Work Of Art
The 13th and 14th centuries in Italy are as known as the early Renaissance. Several artists remain well
recognized from this period in art history. Duccio di Buoninsegna was an Italian painter, active in the
city of Siena. His most famous work of art is the Maesta Altarpiece located in the Cathedral of Siena.
At that time, Siena was very competitive with Florence. The greatest Florentine painter was Giotto di
Bondone. He was a couple years younger than Duccio. Giotto s crowning achievement is a series of
fresco murals painted in the Arena Chapel. Duccio and Giotto were two astonishing artists.

Christ from the left, there appear to be regret in Judas face. There is not apparent though his
aggressive posture. Christ s right hand is pointing forward. This may express Christ s future
forgiveness of Judas. Duccio s depiction leaves more space for imagination for the viewer. In Giotto s
painting, Christ is in profile. This allows for eye contact between Christ and Judas. Christ is a little
taller than Judas, and he gaze silently upon Judas s face. From the gaze of the Christ, we can feel a
sense of forgiveness and sorrow. Moreover, we can feel Juda feels sorry for what he has done. Their
expressions make the painting more emotional, they emphasize the nobility of the Christ and let
viewer have a better connection to this emotional content.
Both Duccio and Giotto captured the act of Saint Peter slicing an ear off of a roman solider. Duccio is
telling the story of the arrest of Christ though a passing of time. In Duccio s painting, we can clearly
see the anger on Peter s face, he is next to Judas on his left. The viewer will draw their attention to
Peter after viewing the moment of the kiss of Judas. Duccio made it a separate moment from the main
scene. In Giotto s painting, Peter is in the crowd he raises up his right arm, which is holding a knife

Haskins brought to the bank. Mr. Haskins was thoroughly dissatisfied with the company s current loan
arrangement with the Sunnyvale Bank, from which it had a credit line of $6 million with accounts
receivable and inventory pledged as security. He thought that Mr. Flint, the loan officer at Sunnyvale,
made no effort to understand the company, and was constantly making suggestions that seemed
inappropriate. He routinely visited AMT once every six months. While the visits were cordial, they
were of very little value to Mr. Haskins. Furthermore, Mr. Haskins felt that the bank had been quite
arbitrary in selecting the receivables that it would accept as collateral and in setting the percentage of
inventory that it would advance as a loan. The restrictive attitude on the bank s part was limiting the
company s ability to expand at exactly the time that increased volume seemed to be the key to
profitability. Mr. Haskins was perfectly willing to pledge the company s accounts receivable,
inventory or anything else that the bank thought would be desirable security as long as the
arrangement was fair to the company and specific enough so that he could count on having the funds
available when he needed them. Mr. Winter explained that the bank was always interested in sound
loan proposals from companies that showed the promise of developing into good accounts. He
promised to study the request and said that he hoped to visit the company in the near future.

Sports As A Form Of Leisure In Sports
Introduction For many people, attending your favorite NFL team s game or watching it on television is
a form of leisure. Many people view attending and watching NFL games as a source of leisure as free
time because it is a time frame within which you can make your own personal choices about how to
spend it and a source of leisure as recreational activity because it is based on participation in nonwork
activities...it is a recreational pursuit (Russell, 2017, p. 16). Additionally, viewing a football game
provides several qualities of leisure for many people, such as pleasure, ritual, relaxation, happiness,
and freedom.
Football can also be considered leisure as a spectacle. It provides entertainment for many people,
primarily the middle class, and is played in a large stadium with many fans in attendance. Football is
such a popular leisure as a spectacle experience that the NFL accounted for 46 of the 50 most watched
broadcasts last fall and in 2014, 70% of TV owners watched some NFL football on their sets at some
point (Feldman, 2016, p. 38).
Many leisure activities that people partake in are dictated by situational factors and demographics,
such as gender. This is evident in football viewership, because ...men and women differ in their
exposure patterns to mediated sports. For most televised sports (i.e. football), men outnumber women
in the viewing audience (Gantz, W and Wenner, L, 1995, p. 60).

The Rhetorical Analysis Of President Dwight D. Eisenhower
During his two terms in office, President Dwight D. Eisenhower worked perpetually to resolve Cold
War era tensions and preserve world peace. Bringing to the presidency his stature as supreme
commander of the military forces during World War II, Eisenhower mediated policies concentrated on
enhancing liberty, dignity, and integrity among people and nations. In his farewell address, delivered
on January 17, 1961, the president urges the American people to cooperate in the interests of mutual
respect and love. Using a combination of rhetorical strategies, he inspires them to be diligent in
pursuit of world peace and maintain balance in and among national programs. Eisenhower uses
patriotic diction to convey his overarching message of fostering progress towards the national goal of
peace. He encourages Americans to avoid becoming a community of fear and hate, and to instead, be a
proud confederation of mutual trust and respect, instead (176 177). Eisenhower appeals to the people s
love of America, persuading them to protect the country s political and spiritual heritage. He
acknowledges America has been involved in three major wars among nations. Despite this, it is the
strongest, the most influential and most productive nation in the world (33 35). Using patriotism,
Eisenhower prompts the American people to act in order to maintain respect and dignity for their
country. He asserts, To strive for less would be unworthy of a free and religious people (45). By

How A Single Physician Medical Practice Can Start A Card...
Introduction
There are advantages and ways that a single physician medical practice can start a card payment
system. According to the research firm Javelin Strategy and Research. By the year 2017, twenty three
percent of all point of sale or counter sales will be made in cash ( Brooks, 2014). What this means is
that over seventy percent of counter sales or point of sale transactions will be made electronically. It
is, for this reason, prudent for all forms of business to ensure that they can evolve with the market. If
the business is unable to do so, it is likely to lose its edge over its competitors. The Payment Card
Industry Data Security Standard, are the rules that regulate the way businesses or organisations handle
credit card information or data.
Creating a Secure Card Payment System
Reasons for setting up a card payment system
There are various advantages to a business setting up a secure payment system. The first advantage is
that the business is likely to have an increase in profitability. Research has shown that the card
payment systems whether by credit or debit cards increases the chances of a customer making multiple
purchases. This can be advantageous to the physician as the patient can make multiple payments for
future or past appointments at an instance. The other advantage of having a card payment system is
that when one uses a card to make payment the payment is guaranteed unlike when you receive a
personal check. When a patient uses a debit card the

Elizabethan Era
The Elizabethan Age is the time period associated with the reign of Queen Elizabeth I (1558 1603)
and is often considered to be a golden age in English history. It was an age considered to be the height
of the English Renaissance, and saw the full flowering of English literature and English poetry. In
Elizabethan theater, William Shakespeare, among others, composed and staged plays in a variety of
settings that broke away from England s past style of plays. It was an age of expansion and
exploration abroad, while at home the Protestant Reformation was established and successfully

There followed several long years of breathless suspense; then in 1588 the Armada sailed and was
utterly overwhelmed in one of the most complete disasters of the world s history. Thereupon the
released energy of England broke out exultantly into still more impetuous achievement in almost
every line of activity. The great literary period is taken by common consent to begin with the
publication of Spenser s Shepherd s Calendar in 1579, and to end in some sense at the death of
Elizabeth in 1603, though in the drama, at least, it really continues many years longer. Several general
characteristics of Elizabethan literature and writers should be indicated at the outset. 1. The period has
the great variety of almost unlimited creative force; it includes works of many kinds in both verse and
prose, and ranges in spirit from the loftiest Platonic idealism or the most delightful romance to the
level of very repulsive realism. 2. It was mainly dominated, however, by the spirit of romance. 3. It
was full also of the spirit of dramatic action, as befitted an age whose restless enterprise was eagerly
extending itself to every quarter of the globe. 4. In style it often exhibits

Messages Of Anti-Bolshevism During The Spanish Civil War
TITLE: The piece is titled Bolshevism Unmasked . It is a pamphlet and accompanying poster from a
major Anti Bolshevist exhibition that toured many major cities.
DATE: The exhibition occurred in 1937. 1937 was of particular significance for the NSDAP s Anti
Bolshevist movement as it was the height of the Spanish Civil War. Thus, messages of Anti
Bolshevism during the Spanish Civil War had widespread appeal because they were very topical.
Global anxieties surrounding the Spanish Civil War were exploited as a focal point of Nazi Anti
Bolshevist propaganda throughout the mid 1930s. This is clearly demonstrated throughout the
pamphlet, as exemplified in, ...Jewish Bolshevism calls to sub humanity in Spain to take up the
weapons of destruction against a peaceful people.
AUTHOR: The exhibit was created by the Anti Komintern, an agency established in 1933 by the
Propaganda Ministry. Prior to WWII, the Anit Komintern produced arguably the most relentless strain
of Nazi propaganda. It created a series of Anti Bolshevist campaigns in multiple mediums, including

Usually automated mining consists of two types of technology with the first dealing with the
operations and software advancement and second one helps in mining vehicles and equipment with
computerized technology by applying robots. The technology is offered in three forms full
automation, remote control and teleoperation. Handheld remote control helps in mining bulldozers
that operate in risky conditions like underground mining, blast areas and are operated with the use of
handheld remote. Teleoperated technology also helps in mining vehicles by a operator but at a safe
distance from the mining location with use of positioning software, cameras. Lastly whole automation,
providing actual autonomous command of more than one mining vehicle. Robotic technology is used
mostly for accelerating, ignition, and brake without the need for operator.

Say Yes Essay
The Effects of Symbols On Say Yes The author of the short story Say Yes, Tobias Wolff, uses a
number of symbols to express his different views on racism throughout the story. Wolff uses this
literary device to express a message to his readers. Symbols, something representing something else
by association resemblance or convention, are used efficiently in this short story.
Wolff uses colors to symbolize a hatred for an alternative race in this short story. The husband more
than once makes reference to dark colors which shows the reader that the husband sees this world in
black and white. The husband sees the world as good vs. evil, white vs. black society. Furthermore,
the reference to color in the short story Say Yes , ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cut she had from the silverware symbolizes the hurt on the inside. The pain from inside was
symbolizing the pain on the inside. Her husband s inconsiderate feelings for alternate races made her
feel like she didn t know him as well as she thought she did. Wolff used symbolization very effectively
by comparing the pain on the outside to the pain on the inside. Wolff s decision to put in this
description of dirty water was not because Wolff hates washing dishes. Wolff put that in there to show
a deeper meaning to it. Wolff is trying to show the husband s views on the topic being discussed
indirectly. Wolff shows a deeper meaning when the husband is continuing to wash the dishes. He is
spraying the silverware and darkened to pale blue (Wolff 518). This shows again the husband s
reference to colors. This happened right after the wife asked if he would marry her if she were black.
Wolff added this symbolism right after the question to indirectly show the husbands feelings toward
the topic. He shows his dislike for African Americans when he refused to answer the question. Wolff
uses colors to show his negative feelings towards interracial relationships. This symbolization helps
contribute to his theme of the husband s strong dislike for African Americans. Wolff uses excellent
symbols to express his message or theme. Short stories form is compressed where each word is

Bones season 7, episode 7, Prisoner in the Pipes originally aired on April 2, 2012. As the title implies,
this episode revolves around the body of what is assumed to be escaped prisoner that turns up in the
toilet of an unsuspecting family. The initially recovered remains are brought back to the Jeffersonian

The study showed maxillary canines exhibiting significant sexual dimorphism and can be used for sex
determination along with other procedures. (Khangura, Sircar, Singh, Rastogi, 2011) This is not what
Bones said she used. The show implies that she used the broken bones of the sinuses, not the teeth
attached, to determine the sex.
Furthermore, the speed they were able to go through each step of the process of cleaning the bones
was unbelievable. Our text book, Forensic Anthropology, says it takes days even weeks to properly
clean bones using a very rigorous process of boiling, bleaching, and air drying to remove residual soft
tissue (Byers, 2011 p. 117). While I understand why they speed up of the process for television, it

relax. A forensic specialist would never compromise the integrity of the evidence to freshen them up.
Another huge issue I have with this episode is Angela s ability to produce evidence from what appears
to be nothing. Using minimal bones, she is able to digitally reproduce a full skeleton. In Figure 1, you

The History of Those Without Wealth or Education Essay
History has been traditionally told from the point of view of those with wealth and education. But to
truly understand history one must understand the history of the people who were not writing the
history which includes the nation s minorities, working class and those without a high level of
education. Society is made up of a variety of people and history is not complete without telling all of
their stories. History was traditionally written by a select number of people. This leads to a biased
view of history because the educated could not experience every part of society. One example is
American slavery where many of the black slaves were not formally educated so they were not able to
tell their stories. At first the educated white ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Rationalists were usually wealthy and classically educated men with vast private resources who wrote
history for leisure or to educate others with their success. Professional historians were college

on the retelling of history which culminated in the last 40 years. In these past 4 decades history was
rewritten to include women and minorities. As they rose in power and influence they began to involve
themselves in the writing of history. The untold stories of the important events in American history
such as the civil rights movement were now told from a different point of view. History cannot be
complete without including all information. If the government decided to eradicate events that made
the nation look bad then history will make no sense. This is happening in the textbooks of Shanghai.
The textbooks now include no information on wars dynasties and communist revolutions. Even

trade between native people. This is the fact that explains why so many native groups across North

Buachaillin Should Be Banned
Listening Journal An Buachaillin Ban is a tune that is a sean nòs, and thus considered a traditional
Irish song. There are no instruments and it is sung solo and in the Gaelic language. The melody is
unmetered with a varying rhythm in each verse and likely based on the young lady s own pattern of
speech. Because the song is unaccompanied, the singer is using a great deal of ornamentation to give
the tune more interest and aesthetic appeal. She has a small bit of nasal timbre that is more noticeable
at the end of certain phrases and, using some vibrato, she slides her notes to join words or phrases
together. The ornamentation differs in each verse adding character to the very long and very stylized
melody. She is telling a story and though ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Around the 1:47 mark the tune changes and switches from The Reel of Rio to The Woman of the
House . Both tunes have an extremely fast rhythm and are written in 4/4 time making them simple
quadruple metered with 4 beats per measure. The rhythmic pattern appears to repeat itself in binary
form, though it is difficult to follow. The tone in The Reel of Rio distinctly changes from low to high
after two measures and in The Woman of the House the tone remains mostly the same up to the end.
Both tunes are reels , which is the most popular tune type within the Irish dance music tradition
(Reel). As with all reels, they have the same structure, consisting largely of quaver (eighth note)
movement with an accent on the first and third beats of the bar. (Reel). These accents make it difficult
for this writer to count out the beats and therefore, unable to imagine dancing to these tunes.

Glomerulonephritis Essay
Glomerulonephritis (GN), or the inflammation of glomeruli, is a leading cause of renal failure
worldwide. Inflammation is characterized by vascular fragility, infiltration of leukocytes, and edema.
Glomerular disease may manifest by three major syndromes: nephritic syndrome, nephrotic syndrome,
and rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis (RPGN). Nephritic syndrome consists of sudden onset of
hematuria, non nephrotic range proteinuria (1.5 g/24 h), active sediment with red blood cell (RBC)
casts or dysmorphic RBCs, acute renal failure, and hypertension. Nephrotic syndrome is characterized
by heavy proteinuria ( 3.5 g/24 h), edema, hypoalbuminemia, and hyperlipidemia. RPGN is
characterized by active sediment (RBC casts and dysmorphic RBCs) and rapid development of acute
renal failure usually over a period of weeks to months. Glomerulonephritis accounts for the majority
of progressive renal disease in many parts of the world.
ETIOLOGY
Glomerulonephritis has diverse etiologies related to disorders of the immune system, including
abnormal immunoglobulin and complement regulation. Glomerulonephritis is caused by immune
processes that lead to deposition of antibodies and complement within the glomerulus. This results in
injury to intrinsic glomerular cells, infiltration of leukocytes and damage to the capillary ... Show

The Supreme Court Of Virginia
In any legal system, there is a notion that the chief end to be achieved is justice. Clearly no one would
advocate for an unjust legal system, but what if the clear distinction between just and unjust is not so
clear? What if there are diametrically opposed moral principles supporting competing arguments? On
three occasions, the Supreme Court of Virginia has declined ruling on whether the relationship with an
assailant s wife deprives a defendant of the right to self defense. The Supreme Court of Virginia
should deny a defendant the right to claim self defense when the following elements are present: (1)

It is in the public s interest to maintain a predictable standard of acceptable behavior. Without such a
standard, society will fall into chaos. There are two traditional, primary means for integrating moral
reasoning into the analysis of criminal law. The first is requiring a defendant to have a culpable mental
state for most crimes. The second is the doctrine of affirmative defenses. There are two types of
Affirmative defenses: justifications and excuses. In effect, if a defendant can establish a defense, the
defendant should be acquitted because society believes he took the right or at least a tolerable action.
Excuses, invoke the notion that while what the defendant did was not justified, the defendant should
not be held accountable for his wrongdoing because he is not to blame for it. Despite the fact that the
criminal law is essentially a moral enterprise, the legally trained actors in the criminal justice system
rarely explicitly examine exactly what moral principles the system is enforcing. One reason for the
absence of moral analysis is that most lawyers are not trained in moral philosophy. Generally, legal
education has never seriously attempted to incorporate moral principles into instruction. Another
explanation for the absence in moral reasoning in the criminal law is that there is no need for any deep
moral debate concerning the right or wrong of

The Story Of American Slavery
For the story of American slavery to be complete, it has to include the ills of the system, the changes
created in the aftermath of emancipation and the precipitous slide down into the sins of segregation.
Many books about slavery and the brutality of the life that so many people had to endure have been
written over the years. In this book, David Blight tells the story about two men, John M. Washington
(1838 1918) and Wallace Turnage (1846 1916) and their escape from slavery during the Civil War.
Their escape to freedom occurred during the chaos of this nation s most bloody war and amidst a
political and cultural conflict, which had been ripping the country apart for many decades.
Throughout the Civil War, in thousands of different circumstances, under changing policies and
redefinitions of their status, and in the face of social chaos caused by huge military campaigns and
destruction, four million slaves helped to decide what time it would be in American History (Blight,
2007, p. 5). Whether it was freedom from a master or overseer, freedom from living as both property
and the object of another person s will, or even freedom to make their own decisions and control their
own life, slaves wanted a sense of independence. According to Blight (2007), The war and the
presence of Union armies and navies opened pathways to freedom for them, as it did many slaves (p.
6). Both Washington and Turnage found their path to freedom in their own unique way, and both

Cordner Community Policing
Respondents could indicate whether the effect was manifested not at all, to some extent, or to a great
extent, instead of just reporting whether there was an effect or not. The 2002 survey indicated that
close to 65 percent of agencies responding reported improved cooperation between citizens and police
to a great extent, , and close to 55 percent reported increased involvement of citizens to a great extent
(Fridell, 2004, p.45). Relatively large proportions of agencies also reported that community policing to
a great extent improved citizen attitudes toward police (48 percent), increased volunteer activities by
citizens (37 percent), and increased information from citizens to the police (31 percent) (Fridell, 2004,
p.45).

Surveys, case studies, and decades of experience from numerous police departments across the
country has provided us with useful information that has allowed us to make changes to improve
community policing. In addition, the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) has
helped state and local law enforcement agencies develop and enhance their effectiveness in advancing
public safety through the implementation of community policing strategies. Since its creation in 1994,
the COPS Office has awarded more than $14 billion dollars in grants across the Nation to hire more
officers, purchase new technology, and support local problem solving approaches to fighting crime
and disorder (Schneider, 2003). In 1997, COPS established the Advancing Community Policing
(ACP) Grant Program to help agencies strengthen and institutionalize their community policing
programs. The program focused on the process of organizational change. Over the past 24 years, the
COPS office has made many accomplishments, including the widespread success of community
policing and the vast progress made by the law enforcement field in embracing this philosophy. As of
2013, the COPS office has distributed more than two million topic specified publications, training
curricula, white papers, and resource CDs. By the end of 2013, they had funded approximately
125,000 additional officers for more than 13,000 of the nation s 18,000 law enforcement agencies
across the country. Nearly 700,000 law enforcement personnel, community members, and government
leaders have been trained through COPS Office funded training organizations. Here s a glimpse into
what the COPS office has in store for 2018. In Fiscal Year (FY) 2018, the COPS Office requests a
total of $218,000,000; included in that total is $207 million for the COPS Hiring Program (CHP) to
assist in hiring additional sworn law enforcement professionals; $10 million for

Blood Treatment Of Blood Transfusion Essay
Plasma, red blood cells, antigens, and antibodies are just some of the components of blood that have to
be studied before matching a donor and recipient for a blood transfusion. Blood transfusion is a
complex and long process that has a unique matching market of its own. In order to see if the blood is
a safe match, technicians have to check for compatible blood types (the most preferable is type O),
non matching antigens, and finally cross matching to see if the antibodies will attack the donor s cells.
All of this is done in a large market with blood from hundreds of thousands of donors. Due to the large
number of options and room for the match to be ineffective or be rejected, there are numerous
problems in this market. It is possible for there to be a mix up with the blood, or unknown factors
could arise where the donor and recipient end up being a bad mix. There is an arduous, difficult
process of making a match in this market, and this causes some problems that I will propose a few
solutions for. First, there are many terms involved with blood and transfusions that should be
understood before moving onto the substance of this essay. Some of the more important terms are
antigens, antibodies, ABO groups, and Rh. Antigens are proteins/carbohydrates that are able to be
recognized by our immune systems, then foreign antigens that the immune system detects are attacked
and destroyed by antibodies. Antibodies are present in everyone. They are molecules in the immune
system

Neutral Tones Thomas Hardy Analysis
In the poem, Neutral Tones ,by Thomas Hardy, the readers will inquire information from the author
through use of imagery. In the first three stanzas Hardy reminisces about a memory he has with a past
loved one. During the last stanza, Hardy reflects how the relationship shaped him. The speaker is
aggravated mentally by the disappointment of love, believing that things were once beautiful. He is
devastated and frustrated when love perishes and feels deceived by the sweet promises love had to
offer.
In the first stanza, Hardy compares his dying relationship to his surroundings. He sets the tone during
this stanza as melancholy and gloomy. The water in the pond represents Hardy s relationship and how
it is not progressing in line 1, We stood by a pond that winter day .... A pond is a small body of water
that rarely has movement just like Hardy s relationship. The sun is described as white in line 2 and is
seemingly deprived from the power to warm and nurture. This intensifies the tone of sadness and
hopelessness. During the third line of the first stanza the leaves that lay on the ... Show more content

The first line of the third stanza describing her smile contains a disheartening meaning. Usually, a
facial gesture would be associated with happiness and joy; whereas in Neutral Tones the smile is
described as the deadest thing . The cold causality of the gesture serves as reminder to the bitterness of
the poem. This metaphor continues, with the phrase: alive enough to have the strength to die (l.10).
This phrase further enhances the emotional uproar experienced by Hardy, presenting a horrifying
image of something that just has enough energy to die. Based from this line, the speaker had already
known that his lover would deceive him in love; just as her smile that defeats the purpose of joy and
happiness. Hardy gives his readers a sense that he knew the relationship was going to be deceased or
was in the process of

The Problem Of The Public Education System
To understand how to solve a problem, we must first understand what we are trying to fix. Throughout
America s history parents, educators, and government officials have been debating what changes must
be implemented for American children to receive every opportunity possible to gain an education that
will prepare them for the future. However, these cries for reform are often rushed, and done for the
sole purpose of pleasing the public, not to actually correct the problem. In my opinion, as a student
myself, the problem is the public education system as a whole. With America s diverse 50.1 million
school children, America cannot stand as a nation under a single philosophy of teaching. The greatest
threats in today s educational system are the rigid curriculum and the undying stress placed on testing.
The impending problem in education is producing well balanced students mentally, spiritually,
emotionally, physically and financially. The curriculum today deals more with academic studies and
information than it does with being able to attain the success most aspire for. True success, as has been
determined, is a direct result of one s character. This opinion is supported by Diane Ravitch s On How
to Improve Our Schools , as she offers hope for preparing students for a useful life and having good
character, and making sound decisions about their life in the future. One of the most pressing
problems with our education system is this narrow focus of the curriculum.

  • 2. Cultural Capital Vs Social Class 1 As with many other forms of capital, financial capital and cultural capital can often be lacking for individuals of lower classes. Financial capital refers to wages, tangible items, and savings, while cultural capital refers to learned behaviors and outlooks often established by parents. There are greater disparities between the wealthy and poor [in America] than residents in other developed nations (349). The wealth of the upper class represents one third of the nation s total wealth, and this wealth allows members of the upper class distinct advantages over those with low financial capital (349). Additionally, those with higher financial capital also tend to transfer greater cultural capital to their children. Specifically, wealthy individuals have access to quality education, healthcare, social networks and various other advantages denied to those with low financial capital. Among those advantages is cultural capital. According to the text, in opposition to their more affluent counterparts, working class mothers and fathers are more inclined simply to provide directives, [and are] less likely to consider conversation with children as a learning opportunity (349). A more nurturing parenting style gives children a chance to understand the importance of confidence and expressing themselves, both valuable forms of cultural capital. Cultural capital often not provided by less affluent individuals due to the financial and psychological stress of poverty (349). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The real attributor of their ability to exist, lays squarely with the Nile. So much so that Egypt in its entirety, formed itself to compensate as well as to take advantage of the great waterway s entirety. This phenomenon is especially evident in their religion, daily life and location of settlement. • 5. United States And The United Kingdom Essay Two of the most powerful democracies in the modern era, the United States and the United Kingdom lead as examples as very successful forms of democratic government. Yet despite both states utilizing democratic governments, both differ greatly on how they operate as a state and through its governmental structure. The Constitution: The U.S created its current constitution after the failures of the Articles of Federation. It created a strong central government that derived its powers from the constitution but also shared powers with state and local governments. The UK on the other hand, does not have a single document that stands as its constitution but instead enacts constitutional provisions over several Acts of Parliament. U.S constitution is extremely difficult to ratify through political means. This contrasts greatly to UK Acts of Parliament which can be changed by a simple majority in the legislature. The most important aspect of the American constitution is the strict separation of powers of the executive, legislature, and the judiciary branches of government. This separation of powers allows each branch to work independently but also allow them to check each other s powers if one branch oversteps their boundaries. Checks and balances within the three branches serve to limit but also connect each to work together while being independent of each other. In the UK however, no such formal separation of powers is present. The Government Minster must be a member of one of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Then, the article takes a sharp turn and begins to explain that the Mexican wolf isn t doing as well as biologists originally thought. Despite a growing population count and breeding patterns, there is still one major problem, and that problem has to do with the wolves genetics. The problem with all of these new wolves is related to where they came from. As I was raised a Catholic and attended Catholic school all my life I knew very little about the Jewish Religion. Now my knowledge of the Jewish faith has strengthened and has been fulfilled with the help of this class and Rabbi Bogot. A Bar Mitzvah or a Bat Mitzvah is when a boy or girl reaches the age of thirteen and they are now obligated to observe the commandments and are welcomed into adulthood. These are both celebrated through the gathering or family and friends in the form of a party. This celebration is one of the rituals of the Jewish religion. Mitzvot (plural of Mitzvah) are understood to come from God and intended for Jewish people to observe and partake in. Some Jewish people that live on the Western side of the world believe there is some contradiction with the thought of being commanded to act in something because it takes away from their right to choose how to behave. In the Torah, it says that when God gave the commandments he declared, Behold, I have set before you the blessing [of observing the commandments] and the curse [the potential punishment of failing to observe the Mitzvot] therefore, choose life! . The Jewish people interpreted this as God acknowledging that Jews have a choice and he wants them to choose the right one. All Jewish people have different beliefs behind the importance of a Mitzvah. Some believers attempted to prove that Mitzvot are all sensible, logical actions that any person with ethical morals would welcome. Whereas others reject that belief and believe that the six hundred and thirteen commandments improve them as human beings and refines them into honest and impartial people by obeying God ... • 8. Essay on Luaghing Comedy-Oliver Goldsmith The Theatre, like all other amusements, has its fashions and its prejudices, and when satiated with its excellence, mankind begin to mistake change for improvement. For some years tragedy was the reigning entertainment, but of late it has entirely given way to comedy, and our best efforts are now exerted in these lighter kinds of composition. The pompous train, the swelling phrase, and the unnatural rant, are displaced for that natural portrait of human folly and frailty, of which all are judges, because all have sat for the picture. But as in describing nature it is presented with a double face, either of mirth or sadness, our modern writers find themselves at a loss which chiefly to copy from, and it is now debated, whether the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In these plays almost all the characters are good, and exceedingly generous; they are lavish enough of their tin money on the stage, and though they want humor, have abundance of sentiment and feeling. If they happen to have faults or foibles, the spectator is taught not only to pardon, but to applaud them, in consideration of the goodness of their hearts; so that folly, instead of being ridiculed, is commended, and the comedy aims at touching our passions, without the power of being truly pathetic. In this manner we are likely to lose one great source of entertainment on the stage; for while the comic poet is invading the province of the tragic muse, he leaves her lovely sister quite neglected. Of this, however, he is no way solicitous, as he measures his fame by his profits. But it will be said, that the theatre is formed to amuse mankind, and that it matters little, if this end be answered, by what means it is obtained. If mankind find delight in weeping at comedy, it would be cruel to abridge them in that or any other innocent pleasure. If those pieces are denied the name of comedies, yet call them by any other name, and if they are delightful, they are good. Their success, it will be said, is a mark of their merit, and it is only abridging our happiness to deny us an inlet to amusement. These objections, however, are rather specious than solid. Many people view attending and watching NFL games as a source of leisure as free time because it is a time frame within which you can make your own personal choices about how to spend it and a source of leisure as recreational activity because it is based on participation in nonwork activities...it is a recreational pursuit (Russell, 2017, p. 16). Additionally, viewing a football game provides several qualities of leisure for many people, such as pleasure, ritual, relaxation, happiness, and freedom. Football can also be considered leisure as a spectacle. It provides entertainment for many people, primarily the middle class, and is played in a large stadium with many fans in attendance. Football is such a popular leisure as a spectacle experience that the NFL accounted for 46 of the 50 most watched broadcasts last fall and in 2014, 70% of TV owners watched some NFL football on their sets at some point (Feldman, 2016, p. 38). It was an age considered to be the height of the English Renaissance, and saw the full flowering of English literature and English poetry. In Elizabethan theater, William Shakespeare, among others, composed and staged plays in a variety of settings that broke away from England s past style of plays. The great literary period is taken by common consent to begin with the publication of Spenser s Shepherd s Calendar in 1579, and to end in some sense at the death of Elizabeth in 1603, though in the drama, at least, it really continues many years longer. Several general characteristics of Elizabethan literature and writers should be indicated at the outset. 1. The period has the great variety of almost unlimited creative force; it includes works of many kinds in both verse and prose, and ranges in spirit from the loftiest Platonic idealism or the most delightful romance to the level of very repulsive realism. 2. Wolff s decision to put in this description of dirty water was not because Wolff hates washing dishes. Wolff put that in there to show a deeper meaning to it. There are two traditional, primary means for integrating moral reasoning into the analysis of criminal law. The first is requiring a defendant to have a culpable mental state for most crimes. The second is the doctrine of affirmative defenses. There are two types of Affirmative defenses: justifications and excuses. In effect, if a defendant can establish a defense, the defendant should be acquitted because society believes he took the right or at least a tolerable action. One reason for the absence of moral analysis is that most lawyers are not trained in moral philosophy. Their escape to freedom occurred during the chaos of this nation s most bloody war and amidst a political and cultural conflict, which had been ripping the country apart for many decades. Throughout the Civil War, in thousands of different circumstances, under changing policies and redefinitions of their status, and in the face of social chaos caused by huge military campaigns and destruction, four million slaves helped to decide what time it would be in American History (Blight, 2007, p. 5). Whether it was freedom from a master or overseer, freedom from living as both property and the object of another person s will, or even freedom to make their own decisions and control their own life, slaves wanted a sense of independence. Cordner Community Policing Respondents could indicate whether the effect was manifested not at all, to some extent, or to a great extent, instead of just reporting whether there was an effect or not. The 2002 survey indicated that close to 65 percent of agencies responding reported improved cooperation between citizens and police to a great extent, , and close to 55 percent reported increased involvement of citizens to a great extent (Fridell, 2004, p.45). Relatively large proportions of agencies also reported that community policing to a great extent improved citizen attitudes toward police (48 percent), increased volunteer activities by citizens (37 percent), and increased information from citizens to the police (31 percent) (Fridell, 2004, p.45). Surveys, case studies, and decades of experience from numerous police departments across the country has provided us with useful information that has allowed us to make changes to improve community policing. In addition, the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) has helped state and local law enforcement agencies develop and enhance their effectiveness in advancing public safety through the implementation of community policing strategies. Since its creation in 1994, the COPS Office has awarded more than $14 billion dollars in grants across the Nation to hire more officers, purchase new technology, and support local problem solving approaches to fighting crime and disorder (Schneider, 2003). In 1997, COPS established the Advancing Community Policing (ACP) Grant Program to help agencies strengthen and institutionalize their community policing programs. The program focused on the process of organizational change. Over the past 24 years, the COPS office has made many accomplishments, including the widespread success of community policing and the vast progress made by the law enforcement field in embracing this philosophy. As of 2013, the COPS office has distributed more than two million topic specified publications, training curricula, white papers, and resource CDs. By the end of 2013, they had funded approximately 125,000 additional officers for more than 13,000 of the nation s 18,000 law enforcement agencies across the country. Nearly 700,000 law enforcement personnel, community members, and government leaders have been trained through COPS Office funded training organizations. • 42. Blood Treatment Of Blood Transfusion Essay Plasma, red blood cells, antigens, and antibodies are just some of the components of blood that have to be studied before matching a donor and recipient for a blood transfusion. Blood transfusion is a complex and long process that has a unique matching market of its own. In order to see if the blood is a safe match, technicians have to check for compatible blood types (the most preferable is type O), non matching antigens, and finally cross matching to see if the antibodies will attack the donor s cells. All of this is done in a large market with blood from hundreds of thousands of donors. Due to the large number of options and room for the match to be ineffective or be rejected, there are numerous problems in this market. It is possible for there to be a mix up with the blood, or unknown factors could arise where the donor and recipient end up being a bad mix. There is an arduous, difficult process of making a match in this market, and this causes some problems that I will propose a few solutions for. First, there are many terms involved with blood and transfusions that should be understood before moving onto the substance of this essay. Some of the more important terms are antigens, antibodies, ABO groups, and Rh. Antigens are proteins/carbohydrates that are able to be recognized by our immune systems, then foreign antigens that the immune system detects are attacked and destroyed by antibodies. Antibodies are present in everyone. They are molecules in the immune system ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Neutral Tones Thomas Hardy Analysis In the poem, Neutral Tones ,by Thomas Hardy, the readers will inquire information from the author through use of imagery. In the first three stanzas Hardy reminisces about a memory he has with a past loved one. During the last stanza, Hardy reflects how the relationship shaped him. The speaker is aggravated mentally by the disappointment of love, believing that things were once beautiful. He is devastated and frustrated when love perishes and feels deceived by the sweet promises love had to offer. In the first stanza, Hardy compares his dying relationship to his surroundings. He sets the tone during this stanza as melancholy and gloomy. The water in the pond represents Hardy s relationship and how it is not progressing in line 1, We stood by a pond that winter day .... A pond is a small body of water that rarely has movement just like Hardy s relationship. The sun is described as white in line 2 and is seemingly deprived from the power to warm and nurture. This intensifies the tone of sadness and hopelessness. During the third line of the first stanza the leaves that lay on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first line of the third stanza describing her smile contains a disheartening meaning. Usually, a facial gesture would be associated with happiness and joy; whereas in Neutral Tones the smile is described as the deadest thing . The cold causality of the gesture serves as reminder to the bitterness of the poem. This metaphor continues, with the phrase: alive enough to have the strength to die (l.10). This phrase further enhances the emotional uproar experienced by Hardy, presenting a horrifying image of something that just has enough energy to die. Based from this line, the speaker had already known that his lover would deceive him in love; just as her smile that defeats the purpose of joy and happiness. Hardy gives his readers a sense that he knew the relationship was going to be deceased or was in the process of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. The Problem Of The Public Education System To understand how to solve a problem, we must first understand what we are trying to fix. Throughout America s history parents, educators, and government officials have been debating what changes must be implemented for American children to receive every opportunity possible to gain an education that will prepare them for the future. However, these cries for reform are often rushed, and done for the sole purpose of pleasing the public, not to actually correct the problem. In my opinion, as a student myself, the problem is the public education system as a whole. With America s diverse 50.1 million school children, America cannot stand as a nation under a single philosophy of teaching. The greatest threats in today s educational system are the rigid curriculum and the undying stress placed on testing. The impending problem in education is producing well balanced students mentally, spiritually, emotionally, physically and financially. The curriculum today deals more with academic studies and information than it does with being able to attain the success most aspire for. True success, as has been determined, is a direct result of one s character. This opinion is supported by Diane Ravitch s On How to Improve Our Schools , as she offers hope for preparing students for a useful life and having good character, and making sound decisions about their life in the future. One of the most pressing problems with our education system is this narrow focus of the curriculum. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
