Active or Passive voice?
Existen dos formas verbales especiales:
Voz Activa y Voz Pasiva.
La voz activa es la forma normal con la cual
creamos una oración. La persona que realiza la
acción es importante o conocida.
Eg. Someone broke my window yesterday.
Alguien quebró mi ventana ayer.
Active or Passive voice?
La voz pasiva se usa cuando la persona o cosa
que realiza la acción no es importante o es
desconocida:
The window was broken yesterday
La ventana fue quebrada ayer
(La persona que la quebró es desconocida)
Active or Passive voice?
La voz pasiva también se usa para enfatizar el
objeto en quien recae la acción del verbo. Para
esto debemos considerar dos cosas:
1. La formula del verbo en voz pasiva es :
To Be + Past participle verb
2. El objeto de la voz activa pasa a ser el nuevo
sujeto en la voz pasiva.

Active Voice
Aquí podemos observar como se realiza
el cambio de voz activa a voz pasiva. El
objeto en la voz activa pasa a ser el
nuevo sujeto de la voz pasiva. El verbo
tobe cambia de acuerdo al nuevo sujeto.
Examples Present Passive Voice
1. My sister loves chocolates.
Chocolates are loved.
2. Everybody plays soccer
Soccer is played.
Examples Past Passive Voice
3. Christopher Columbus discovered America.
America was discovered.
4. Americans ate a lot of hot dogs
A lot of hot dogs were eaten.
Exercise 1: Turn the following sentences
into Present Passive Voice.
1. Someone buys apples.

2. My brother doesn’t drink Coke.
_________________________________________
3. JP feed his cat.
_________________________________________

into Present Passive Voice.
1. Someone buys apples.
Apples are bought .
2. My brother doesn’t drink Coke.
Coke isn’t drunk.
3. JP feed his cats.
His cat is fed.

into Past Passive Voice.
1. Caroline didn’t play Pokemon Go.

2. Conny watched a new movie.
_________________________________________
3. I read three books.
_________________________________________
Exercise 2: Turn the following sentences
into Past Passive Voice.
1. Caroline didn’t play Pokemon Go.
Pokemon Go wasn’t played.
2. Conny watched a new movie.
A new movie was watched.
3. I read three books.
Three books were read.
