The nervous system is the body's control center and communication network. It is composed of neurons and neuroglial cells and is divided into the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) and peripheral nervous system. Neurons transmit electrochemical signals to coordinate senses, thoughts, movement, and organ function, while neuroglial cells provide support and protection. The central nervous system processes information and the peripheral nervous system connects it to the rest of the body.
