Operations Manager
(Nextcorps)
I was born in New Hampshire, and grew up in Vermont. Aside from a brief stint in DC, I’ve never really
lived outside of the northeast for a prolonged period of time.
My father was an engineer, and my mother was a teacher. I have two brothers, one younger, one older.
I was an athletic nerd growing up. I spent a lot of time with my face buried in a book at sports events
while waiting for my turn to compete. In particular, I read a lot of fantasy.
Y - Something about your younger self
Books were a big deal in my family, and a lot of our small family rituals revolved around them.
As an example, on Christmas eve we always gave each other books to read while waiting for
morning, and read a series of Christmas short stories (from dutch and german roots, I couldn’t tell
you why).
It’s probably in part why I ended up being such a voracious reader, and doing some early reads and
feedback cycles with authors.
O - One thing about your culture
I’ve had a habit of getting involved in comparatively niche and emerging sports. As an example, in college I got fairly involved with
quidditch both as a player, and as a volunteer, and spent several years serving on the committee which writes the rulebook, as well
as being selected as an alternate for team USA twice.
My most recent pickups have been disc golf, ultimate, and rock climbing. I’m always keeping busy, because I know if I’m not staying
active I lose focus, and energy.

Y - Something about your younger self
Grew up with a single mother and two older brothers. Created a super close
dynamic between the three of us, and had a major influence on my early view
of the world.
My mother remarried and I moved from a suburban world (Greece NY) to a
family farm (Leroy NY). Gained a step brother and step sister (Full House!)

• My mothers side is from coal country, Pennsylvania (Jeddo… near
Hazelton..Allentown). My great grandfather and his brothers all worked in coal,
along with my grandfathers brothers. He was the first one to break the mold,
moving up to Rochester with my grandmother. Energy generation stayed in the
blood!

U - Something unique about you
In college I was a total European Union Nerd, and was in a club called The
European Union Simulation Club. My junior year we participated in a
conference in Belgium where we all had alter egos of EU members, and
debated policy surrounding the Syrian Refugee Crisis.

● Coffee

past 10 years = 10 years free coffee

working around the clock (with 4

centered around grabbing coffee and
being in coffee shops
○ Open Mic Night at Ithaca College
○ Not the caffeine but the routine of
coffee and community

  • 36. I was born in New Hampshire, and grew up in Vermont. Aside from a brief stint in DC, I’ve never really lived outside of the northeast for a prolonged period of time. My father was an engineer, and my mother was a teacher. I have two brothers, one younger, one older. I was an athletic nerd growing up. I spent a lot of time with my face buried in a book at sports events while waiting for my turn to compete. In particular, I read a lot of fantasy. Y - Something about your younger self
  • 37. Books were a big deal in my family, and a lot of our small family rituals revolved around them. As an example, on Christmas eve we always gave each other books to read while waiting for morning, and read a series of Christmas short stories (from dutch and german roots, I couldn’t tell you why). It’s probably in part why I ended up being such a voracious reader, and doing some early reads and feedback cycles with authors. O - One thing about your culture
  • 38. I’ve had a habit of getting involved in comparatively niche and emerging sports. As an example, in college I got fairly involved with quidditch both as a player, and as a volunteer, and spent several years serving on the committee which writes the rulebook, as well as being selected as an alternate for team USA twice. My most recent pickups have been disc golf, ultimate, and rock climbing. I’m always keeping busy, because I know if I’m not staying active I lose focus, and energy. U - Something unique about you
